Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an optical scanning device used in an optical writing system such as a digital copying machine and a laser printer, and an image forming apparatus using the optical scanning device, and more particularly to form a color image by superimposing a plurality of color toner images. It is related to what made possible.
In an electrophotographic image forming apparatus using the Carlson process, as the image carrier is rotated, for example, a photosensitive drum, charging of the surface of the photosensitive drum, formation of a latent image by exposure, development with toner, toner image transfer body Each process of transfer to is executed. Then, a plurality of photosensitive drums are arranged along the transfer direction of the transfer body, each image forming station including each photosensitive drum is configured corresponding to each color, and the toner images formed at each station are overlapped. By configuring as above, a multicolor image forming apparatus can be configured. In such a multi-color image forming apparatus, if there is eccentricity or variation in diameter of the photosensitive drum, the time difference from the latent image formation to the transfer, the interval between the photosensitive drums for forming images of each color, In addition, due to speed fluctuations and meandering of the transfer belt and the conveyance belt that conveys the recording paper, registration deviation of each toner image occurs, resulting in color deviation and color change, thereby degrading image quality. Similarly, in an optical scanning device that forms a latent image on a photosensitive drum, if the irradiation position on the photosensitive drum is not accurately matched, color misregistration and color change may occur.
This registration deviation can be classified into those caused by the optical scanning device and those caused by other than the optical scanning device. However, conventionally, there is no such division, and the position of the top line is corrected by detecting the sub-scanning position periodically between jobs using the registration error detection pattern recorded on the transfer body and matching the timing of writing. (For example, refer to Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2). In addition, correction as described in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 described above is performed, and the reflection mirror is tilted with one end in the main scanning direction serving as a fulcrum, whereby the skew (tilt) of the scanning line is changed over time. It is known to correct the skew (tilt) of the scanning line over time by correcting (for example, see Patent Document 3) or by tilting the scanning lens (see, for example, Patent Document 4).
Further, a scan line curve caused by a processing error or an arrangement position error for each scanning lens is corrected in advance at the time of manufacture by means such as correcting a scanning lens having power in the sub-scanning direction along the main scanning direction. (For example, refer to Patent Document 5).
By the way, the optical scanning device used for multicolor image formation scans the light beam corresponding to each color emitted from the light source means collectively with a single polygon scanner and guides it to the corresponding photosensitive drum. A plurality of reflecting mirrors are provided, and in order to stably maintain the positional accuracy of the scanning lines between the respective colors, these components are integrally supported by a common housing.
In recent years, resin has been widely used as a material for the housing from the viewpoints of cost reduction and flexibility in shape design, etc. However, the resin housing is resistant to vibration and dimensional stability against environmental temperature. There is a disadvantage that it is inferior, and an example using a sheet metal housing has been proposed for a monochromatic optical scanning device (see, for example, Patent Document 6).
Furthermore, if the housing of the optical scanning device corresponding to a plurality of colors as described above is integrally formed of resin, the housing itself becomes large, so that the dimensional stability against the environmental temperature is inferior. As the position and angle fluctuate with environmental changes, the light beam irradiation position on each photosensitive drum shifts, and the time from the irradiation position to the transfer position changes at each station, resulting in registration shift. A problem occurs. Thus, it is conceivable to detect registration deviation between jobs and adjust the irradiation position between stations. However, even if this adjustment is performed, if the number of prints in one job increases, the temperature rises in one job, and the variation in irradiation position due to the temperature rise is inevitable.
Naturally, even within one job, printing can be interrupted and correction can be made in the middle. However, in order to detect registration deviation, it is necessary to record a detection pattern as a toner image on the transfer member. As a result, the apparatus becomes unrecordable and the printing waiting time becomes long, resulting in a hindrance to work efficiency. Further, the toner consumption increases in accordance with this correction.
In particular, when the interval between the stations is widened, the housing becomes large and warpage is likely to occur, and it becomes difficult to ensure dimensional stability. Conventionally, in the upper and lower spaces sandwiching the bottom surface of the housing, the receiving surfaces of the component parts are erected on the bottom surface and supported. However, the bottom surface of the housing has a wide flat plate shape and is a polygon mirror as an optical deflector. In order to change the light beam from the photosensitive drum to the photosensitive drum, it is necessary to provide a long opening in the scanning direction of the light beam on the bottom surface of the housing, and there is a problem that the bottom surface of the housing is vulnerable to vibration.
On the other hand, there is a method of using metal parts such as aluminum die-casting as the material, but it takes time to machine the receiving surface of the component parts with high accuracy, so there is a disadvantage that productivity is poor and cost is high. . On the other hand, there is a method of using a sheet metal as in the invention described in Patent Document 6, but in order to make the entire housing a sheet metal, it is necessary to support light source means and scanning lenses for a plurality of stations, which is complicated. There is a drawback that the assembly becomes troublesome.
The present invention is an optical scanning device capable of suppressing wasteful toner consumption by stably maintaining the resist accuracy of each station over time and recording a high-quality color image without color shift or color change. This configuration example is an optical scanning device capable of optical scanning corresponding to a plurality of colors, in which a plurality of photosensitive drums as image carriers are arranged, and a plurality of optical scanning devices corresponding to the respective photosensitive drums. It is configured. FIG. 3 is an optical layout diagram of an optical scanning device corresponding to a certain color among a plurality of optical scanning devices.

In FIG. 3,

FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the optical scanning device including the housing in the sub-scanning direction. In FIG. 2, a plurality of optical systems constituting the optical scanning device, that is, the optical system shown in FIG. 3 are arranged, and the polygon mirror is shared by each optical scanning device. Each of the plurality of optical scanning devices corresponds to a color component. In FIG. 2, the polygon mirror is formed in two upper and lower stages.

The

The light beams from the first and second light source units are deflected and reflected by the deflecting and reflecting surfaces of the polygon mirrors 111 and 112 that are rotationally driven, and the deflected light beams pass through the
A light source unit, a cylindrical lens, a polygon scanner including a polygon mirror, soundproof glass, a first scanning lens, and the like shown here are attached to a housing. The housing is required to be free from deformation due to temperature change and deformation over time. To satisfy this requirement, it is desirable to make the housing from sheet metal or the like. However, each of the optical elements has a different shape, and a complicated shape is required on the receiving portion side of the housing that supports the optical elements. Therefore, it is difficult to make the housing with sheet metal or the like. Although the housing can be formed by aluminum die casting, there are problems such as high cost and heavy weight. However, the light source unit, the cylindrical lens, the polygon scanner, the soundproof glass, the first scanning lens, and the like are arranged in a relatively united position, and the mounting shape becomes very complicated. Mounting these components, that is, the components including the plurality of light source units, the cylindrical lens, and the deflecting means, on the resin housing is very effective in the following points.
1. Since the resin housing only needs to hold the portion including the light source and the polygon mirror, the resin housing can be reduced in size and thus can be made thinner.
It is possible to handle complex mounting shapes.
1 and 2, the resin housing is denoted by
In FIG. 1, the
Therefore, in the example shown in FIG. 1, a
In the example shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a
FIG. 7 shows an example in which a
Next, a specific example of the mounting structure of the
One receiving

The effect of providing the pressing means made of a leaf spring or the like on the
In the embodiment of the present invention, the pressing position by the pressing member composed of the leaf spring or the like for pressing the
In FIG. 8, reference numerals e, f, g, and h denote attachment points or attachment portions of the polygon scanner, that is, the deflection means, to the
In the configuration described above, the
The illustrated embodiment has a plurality of photosensitive drums, and a plurality of optical scanning devices that scan each of the photosensitive drums with a light beam modulated by an image signal for each color are arranged. Each station also forms a part of the image forming station, and an image corresponding to the color formed at each station is transferred onto the transfer unit, so that, for example, a full-color image can be formed. Although not shown, an apparatus for performing an electrophotographic process is disposed around each photosensitive drum as an image carrier. That is, a charging device that uniformly charges the peripheral surface of the photosensitive drum, an exposure device that exposes the charged photosensitive drum to form a latent image, a developing device that visualizes the latent image as a toner image, and a toner image transfer unit And a cleaning device for removing the residual toner on the surface of the photosensitive drum after the transfer and discharging the toner. The transfer means may be an intermediate transfer belt or transfer paper. When the intermediate transfer belt is provided, the toner images on the respective photosensitive drums are once transferred onto the intermediate transfer belt, and the superimposed toner images are transferred onto the transfer paper. In the case where there is no intermediate transfer belt, the toner images on the respective photosensitive drums are sequentially transferred onto the transfer paper. A fixing device for fixing the toner image transferred to the transfer paper is arranged, and this fixing device is also one of the devices for executing the electrophotographic process. The optical scanning device constitutes the exposure device, and the photosensitive drum is scanned in accordance with the image signal corresponding to each color, whereby an exposure distribution is generated on the photosensitive drum and a line image is formed. .
