Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for forming a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) film such as a carbon film on the inner surface of a plastic container, a plasma CVD film forming apparatus thereof, and a carbon film coated plastic container. Here, the carbon film-coated plastic container particularly relates to a container in which coloring on the inner surface is reduced and a container in which coloring on the inner wall around the mouth is reduced.
Various types of containers such as bottles, cans, and plastic containers are known as sealed containers, for example, beverage containers. In recent years, cans and plastic containers have been widely used from the viewpoint of convenience such as good handling properties. Among these, the plastic container easily absorbs odors and has a gas barrier property inferior to that of cans and cans, so it has been difficult to use it for carbonated beverages such as beer and sparkling liquor.
Accordingly, a method and apparatus for coating a hard carbon film (such as diamond-like carbon) have been disclosed in order to solve the problems of sorption and gas barrier properties in plastic containers. Among them, for example, using an external electrode having a storage space that is almost similar to the outer shape of the target container, and an internal electrode that is inserted into the container from the mouth of the container and also serves as a source gas introduction pipe, A method for coating a surface with a hard carbon film is disclosed (for example, see
In general, since a beverage bottle has a narrower mouth than the trunk, the device disclosed in
There is a product category in the market where it is preferred that the color of a bottle with a gas barrier film such as DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) containing a hard carbon film be as colorless as possible. In this case, the excessive coloring of the inner wall around the mouth portion has a property of remarkably impressing the coloring of the entire bottle. In order to reduce the coloring on the inner wall around the mouth compared to the shoulder, there was a method of reducing the flow rate of the hydrocarbon gas as the raw material gas, but the coloring reduction became a gradation and the gas barrier There has been a problem that the property is remarkably lowered or the effect of color reduction is limited to a minute region.
In addition, in the method in which the gas barrier film is not coated on the inner wall around the mouth for the purpose of reducing coloring, including the method of reducing the flow rate of the hydrocarbon gas, as shown in
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a carbon film-coated plastic container manufacturing method and a plasma CVD film forming apparatus capable of reducing the coloring of the container or alleviating the excessive coloring on the inner wall around the container mouth. Furthermore, it is to provide a container that reduces gas coloring or excessive coloring on the inner wall around the container mouth while imparting gas barrier properties and elution inhibiting properties.
The inventors of the present invention have (1) forming a film by mixing at least one of hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas, or hydrogen silicide gas as an additive gas with the hydrocarbon gas that is a raw material gas, and forming a plasma. Reduce the coloration of the plastic container, and (2) reduce the coloration of the desired location by spraying at least one of hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas or silicic acid gas as the additive gas to the location where coloration is to be suppressed The present invention was completed by finding what can be done. A container having a good degree of color reduction can be obtained.
In the method for producing a carbon film-coated plastic container according to the present invention, it is preferable to add the silicified hydrocarbon gas or the silicified gas in a flow rate conversion of 0.10 times or more with respect to the hydrocarbon gas. A container having a good degree of color reduction can be obtained.
In the method for producing a carbon film-coated plastic container according to the present invention, the raw material gas is converted into plasma by high frequency or microwave. Even when the plasma is generated by any energy source, a container with reduced coloring can be obtained, and further a gas barrier property can be imparted.

It is possible to reduce the coloring of a portion with a large coloring around the mouth.
A plasma CVD film forming apparatus for forming a CVD film on the inner surface of a plastic container according to the present invention is disposed in a vacuum chamber for housing the plastic container, and detachably disposed in the plastic container. A raw material gas supply pipe for supplying a raw material gas, a plasma generating means for converting the raw material gas supplied to the inside of the plastic container into plasma, an exhaust pump means for decompressing the vacuum chamber, and the raw material gas supply pipe or And an additive gas supply means for adding additive gas in the upstream pipe of the source gas supply pipe. Even in this apparatus, it is possible to reduce the coloration of the entire container or to reduce the coloration of a portion where the coloration is large such as around the mouth.
In the plasma CVD film forming apparatus for forming a CVD film on the inner surface of the plastic container according to the present invention, the plasma generating means includes at least an external electrode disposed outside the plastic container and a high frequency applied to the external electrode. Including a high-frequency power supply to be supplied, and the source gas supply pipe also serves as an internal electrode.
Alternatively, in the plasma CVD film forming apparatus for forming a CVD film on the inner surface of the plastic container according to the present invention, the plasma generating means has at least a microwave supply power source for supplying a microwave to the inside of the vacuum chamber. including.
The carbon film-coated plastic container according to the present invention has a carbon film coated on the entire inner surface of the plastic container including the inner wall surface around the mouth of the plastic container, and around the mouth of the plastic container, The coloring degree b * value based on JISK 7105-1981 is 2 or less. Since the coloring around the mouth is reduced, the merchantability of the container is high.
In the carbon film-coated plastic container according to the present invention, the oxygen permeability around the mouth of the plastic container is preferably less than or equal to one-half of the oxygen permeability around the mouth of the uncoated plastic container. Even if a sufficient oxygen barrier property is obtained in the body portion of the container, it is conceivable that no film is formed around the mouth portion in order to reduce coloring around the mouth portion. However, in this case, not only a sufficient oxygen gas barrier property cannot be obtained, but various substances contained in the container base material may be eluted into the contents. Therefore, even if various substances contained in the container base material are included by forming a carbon film that is less than half of the oxygen permeability while reducing coloring around the mouth, The carbon film can prevent elution of the substance from the mouth wall surface.
In the carbon film-coated plastic container according to the present invention, the carbon film is formed by plasma-forming a mixed gas in which at least one of hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas, or hydrogen silicide gas is added to the hydrocarbon gas. Including the case of a membrane.
The method for producing a carbon film-coated plastic container and the plasma CVD film forming apparatus according to the present invention can reduce the coloring of the container or reduce the excessive coloring on the inner wall around the container mouth. Further, the carbon film coated plastic container according to the present invention has gas barrier properties and elution prevention, while reducing the coloration of the container or reducing the excessive coloring on the inner wall around the container mouth.

(First embodiment)
First, a film forming apparatus and a method for manufacturing a carbon film coated plastic container according to the first embodiment will be described. In the first embodiment, a mixed gas in which at least one of hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas, or hydrogen silicide gas is added to the hydrocarbon gas is used as the source gas, and the mixed gas is blown out inside the plastic container. It is characterized by making it.
The manufacturing method according to the first embodiment can be performed by, for example, the plasma CVD film forming apparatus shown in FIG. FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram showing an embodiment of a plasma CVD film forming apparatus according to the first embodiment. 1, the
The

The gas barrier film in the present invention refers to a thin film that suppresses oxygen permeability, such as a DLC (diamond-like carbon) film, a Si-containing DLC film, a SiO x film, or an AlN film. As the source gas generated from the source
For example, when a DLC film is formed, gas or liquid aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, oxygen-containing hydrocarbons, nitrogen-containing hydrocarbons and the like are used as the source gas at room temperature. In particular, benzene, toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene, cyclohexane and the like having 6 or more carbon atoms are desirable. Examples of the aliphatic hydrocarbons include ethylene hydrocarbons or acetylene hydrocarbons. These raw materials may be used alone, or may be used as a mixed gas of two or more. Further, these gases may be diluted with a rare gas such as argon or helium. In addition, when a silicon-containing DLC film is formed, a Si-containing hydrocarbon gas is used.
The additive gas is at least one of hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas, and hydrogen silicide gas. Hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas, or hydrogen silicide gas may be used alone. Further, these two kinds or three kinds may be mixed to form an additive gas. Examples of silicified hydrocarbon gas or silicic acid gas include silicon tetrachloride, silane (SiH 4 ), hexamethyldisilane, vinyltrimethylsilane, methylsilane, dimethylsilane, trimethylsilane, diethylsilane, propylsilane, phenylsilane, and methyltriethoxysilane. , Vinyltriethoxysilane, vinyltrimethoxysilane, tetramethoxysilane, tetraethoxysilane, phenyltrimethoxysilane, methyltrimethoxysilane, methyltriethoxysilane and other organic silane compounds, octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, 1,1,3 , 3-tetramethyldisiloxane, organic siloxane compounds such as hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) are used. In addition to these materials, aminosilane, silazane and the like are also used.
The additive gas supply means 65 when the additive gas is liquid like HMDSO will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 2 is a schematic view showing an embodiment of the additive gas supply means. HMDSO is placed in an HMDSO container 62. A carrier gas such as helium is generated from the carrier gas generation source 62 and sent to the HMDSO container 62, and a desired amount of HMDSO is sent to the
The DLC film in the present invention refers to a carbon film called an i-carbon film or a hydrogenated amorphous carbon film (a-CH), which is an amorphous carbon film containing sp 3 bonds. The DLC film has a film quality from hard to soft (polymer-like), and the hydrogen content ranges from 0 atom% to about 70 atom%.
In this embodiment, a DLC film is cited as a thin film formed by a plasma CVD film forming apparatus. However, the above film forming apparatus can be used when forming a Si-containing DLC film or other thin films. is there.

(Introduction of raw material gas)
Thereafter, the additive gas (for example, acetylene gas) sent from the source
Here, the mixing ratio of the source gas and the additive gas is appropriately changed depending on the kind of the additive gas. For example, it is preferable to add 3 times or more hydrogen gas in terms of flow rate to hydrocarbon gas. If it is less than 3 times, there may be little coloring reduction effect. Although there are some magnification fluctuations depending on the shape and capacity of the container, it is preferable to add 3 to 7 times as much hydrogen gas in consideration of providing oxygen barrier properties simultaneously with color reduction. Preferably 3 to 6 times as much hydrogen gas is added. More preferably, 3 to 4 times as much hydrogen gas is added. By setting it to 6 times or less, preferably 4 times or less, the oxygen permeability around the mouth can be reduced to one half or less as compared with the case of no coating. Here, when the oxygen permeability around the mouth portion is halved, elution of the substance can be prevented even when various substances contained in the container base material are contained.
Moreover, it is good to add silicified hydrocarbon gas or silicic acid gas more than 0.10 times in terms of flow rate with respect to hydrocarbon gas. If it is less than 0.10 times, the coloring reduction effect may be small. Moreover, it is good to add 0.20 times or less. Although there are some fluctuations in magnification depending on the shape and volume of the container, by setting it to 0.20 times or less, the oxygen transmission rate around the mouth can be reduced to one-half or less as compared with the case of uncoated. Preferably 0.15 to 0.20 times, more preferably 0.15 to 0.18 times are added. When the oxygen permeability in the vicinity of the mouth exceeds 1/2, as in the case of hydrogen gas addition, the oxygen permeability in the vicinity of the mouth is made half, so that various substances contained in the container base material Even if it is contained, the elution of the substance can be prevented.

(Plasma CVD film formation)

(Second Embodiment)
A film forming apparatus and a carbon film coated plastic container manufacturing method according to the second embodiment will be described. In the second embodiment, a hydrocarbon gas is used as the source gas, the hydrocarbon gas is blown out inside the plastic container, and at least one of hydrogen gas, silicified hydrocarbon gas, or hydrogen silicide gas is used as the source gas. The additive gas is blown out toward the inner wall around the mouth of the plastic container.

A CVD film is formed by the same operation as in the first embodiment. Here, since the additive gas is concentratedly applied to the inner wall of the mouth periphery 7b, in the first embodiment, the color derived from the carbon film is reduced over the entire container. In the second embodiment, the inner wall of the mouth periphery 7b is reduced. A container in which excessive coloration is prevented is obtained.

FIG. 5 is a schematic configuration diagram showing a third embodiment of the plasma CVD film forming apparatus according to this embodiment. Also in FIG. 5, the
In the plasma CVD

(2) Oxygen permeability on the inner wall around the mouth part Only a part of the mouth part (inner wall area of about 8 cm 2 ) is cut off, and a metal plate is applied to one side of the open part of the substantially cylindrical shape. Measurement was performed under the same conditions as in (1) using a bonded and sealed material.
(3) Film thickness The film thickness of the DLC was measured using DEKTAK3 manufactured by Veeco.
(4) Coloring degree The color of the plastic container was evaluated using the coloring degree b * value as an index. The b * value is a color difference of JISK 7105-1981, and is obtained from the tristimulus values X, Y, and Z by the formula (Equation 1).
A Hitachi U-3500 self-recording spectrophotometer equipped with a 60Φ integrating sphere accessory device (for infrared, visible and near infrared) was used. As the detector, an ultrasensitive photomultiplier tube (R928: for ultraviolet and visible) and a cooled PbS (for near infrared region) are used. The transmittance was measured in the measurement wavelength range from 240 nm to 840 nm. By measuring the transmittance of the PET container, it is possible to calculate the transmittance measurement of only the DLC film, but the b * value of this example is the same as that calculated in the form including the absorptivity of the PET container. Show. In addition, b * and visual correlation in the present invention are roughly as shown in Table 1. The b * value of the untreated PET container is in the range of 0.6 to 1.0. A DLC film having a b * value of 2 or less can be said to be colorless and transparent. A DLC film having a b * value of 4 or less is very lightly colored so that the color can be discriminated with the naked eye. Table 2 shows the b * value difference (Δb * value) and the approximate visual correlation. By the Δb * value, the difference due to the colored portion can be quantified.

Table 4 shows the respective film forming conditions and evaluation results for the case of no coating, the case where the additive gas was not added, and the case where helium gas was added as the additive gas.
Based on the results shown in Table 3, FIG. 6 shows a graph showing changes in the amount of hydrogen gas added and the degree of coloring around the mouth. Based on the results in Table 4, FIG. 7 shows a graph showing changes in the amount of helium gas added and the degree of coloring around the mouth. As can be seen from FIG. 6, it was found that when hydrogen gas was added to the source gas (acetylene) as an additive gas, coloring at the mouth portion was reduced. On the other hand, as can be seen from FIG. 7, even when helium gas was added to the source gas (acetylene) as an additive gas, the coloration at the mouth portion was reduced, but the effect was low. Comparing FIG. 6 and FIG. 7, it can be seen that the addition of hydrogen gas does not reduce the coloration of the mouth by simply diluting the source gas. Moreover, in FIG. 6, it turns out that a coloring degree falls rapidly between hydrogen gas flow rate / raw material gas flow rate 2.5-3.75 (times). Therefore, it was found that the hydrogen gas flow rate / raw material gas flow rate is preferably 2.5 times or more, for example, 3 times or more. If the amount of hydrogen gas added is 3 times or more that of the source gas, the degree of coloration b * around the mouth is almost the same as that of the uncoated container and can be made colorless. That is, as can be seen by referring to
Further, under the conditions of the examples, the oxygen barrier property is observed when the hydrogen gas addition amount is 6 times or less of the source gas. As in

Based on the results of
Further, the oxygen barrier property is observed if the amount of HMDSO added is 0.18 times or less of the source gas. If the amount of HMDSO added is 0.13 times or less of the source gas as in
In any of the examples, it was shown that the coloration at the mouth of the container was reduced by the addition of hydrogen gas or HMDSO additive gas.
When manufactured by the manufacturing method according to the second embodiment as in the above example, coloring around the mouth of the plastic container could be further reduced. Moreover, it had equivalent oxygen permeability. Similarly to the above-described example, when the manufacturing method according to the third embodiment was used, the coloring of the plastic container could be reduced as in the case where the manufacturing method according to the first embodiment was used. Moreover, it had equivalent oxygen permeability.
Therefore, the container of an Example is a container excellent in the external appearance which reduced coloring, and can also provide gas barrier property. In addition, a DLC film could be formed on a square 500 ml PET bottle by the same method.
FIG. 9 shows the shape of the container used in this example, and clarified the range indicated by the mouth, the periphery of the mouth, the neck, the shoulder, the trunk, and the bottom.
