Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a backlight device provided on the back side of a non-light-emitting transmissive display unit.
液晶表示装置のバックライトは、蛍光管を使ったCCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)タイプが主流であるが、環境的に水銀レスが要求されてきている。 As the backlight of the liquid crystal display device, a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) type using a fluorescent tube is mainly used, but environmentally mercury-free has been required. For this reason, in recent years, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have been promising as light sources to replace CCFLs. In particular, the method of using each of the primary colors of red LED, green LED, and blue LED individually and optically combining and additive color mixing to obtain white color is easy to balance the colors, so it is actively used for television applications. It is being considered.
By the way, when a light emitting diode is used as the light source of the backlight, a large amount of light emitting diodes are required for one backlight. For this reason, the heat tends to increase as a whole, and the characteristics of each light emitting diode may deteriorate, or in the worst case, a failure may occur.
In addition, the light emitting diodes have poor light emission efficiency as the temperature rises. In addition, since the temperature characteristics of the light emission efficiency of each color are different, a backlight incorporating a control system that makes the chromaticity constant may exceed a predetermined power consumption. For example, in a backlight in which a control system for making chromaticity constant is introduced, if the temperature of a red light emitting diode becomes higher, the light emitting efficiency becomes worse than that of other light emitting diodes (green, blue). It is necessary to increase the duty and flow a large amount of current. For this reason, there is a possibility that power consumption increases and exceeds the predetermined power consumption set as described above.
For the above two reasons, when a light emitting diode is used as the light source of the backlight, a control system that prevents the temperature from rising is necessary.
The present invention solves such a problem, and even when a light-emitting diode is used as a light source, each characteristic deterioration or failure of the light-emitting diode is reduced, and within a set power consumption. An object of the present invention is to provide a backlight device that can be operated.

A temperature sensor that detects the temperature, and the drive control unit includes a first upper limit temperature that is equal to or lower than the maximum rated temperature of the light emitting diode, and a second upper limit that is lower than the first upper limit temperature. When the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or higher than the first upper limit temperature, the amount of current supplied to the light emitting diode is decreased, and the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is set to the first temperature. When the temperature is lower than the upper limit set temperature of 1 and higher than the second upper limit set value, the amount of current supplied to the light emitting diode is fixed at the current value, and the light emitting diode When the amount of current to be supplied is smaller than a predetermined set value and the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or lower than the second upper limit set temperature, the amount of current supplied to the light emitting diode is increased. It is characterized by that.
A backlight device according to the present invention includes a light source having a plurality of light emitting diodes, a drive control unit for driving the plurality of light emitting diodes, and a plurality of light emitting diodes in a backlight device provided on the back side of the display device. A fan for cooling, a fan control unit for controlling a rotation speed of the fan, and a temperature sensor for detecting a temperature of the light emitting diode, wherein the fan control unit has a temperature lower than a maximum rated temperature of the light emitting diode. When an upper limit set temperature of 1 and a second upper limit set temperature that is lower than the first upper limit set temperature are set, and the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or higher than the first upper limit set temperature, When the rotational speed of the fan is increased and the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is lower than the first upper limit set temperature and higher than the second upper limit set value, the fan speed is increased. The rotation speed of the fan is fixed at the current value, the rotation speed of the fan is faster than a predetermined set value, and the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or lower than the second upper limit set temperature. Is characterized by decelerating the rotational speed of the fan.
In the backlight device according to the present invention, a first upper limit set temperature having a temperature equal to or lower than the maximum rated temperature of the light emitting diode and a second upper limit set temperature having a temperature lower than the first upper limit set temperature are set in advance. The detected temperature of the temperature sensor is compared with the upper limit set temperature to control the driving current of the light emitting diode or the rotational speed of the fan.
As a result, in the backlight device according to the present invention, even when a light emitting diode is used as a light source, the temperature of the light emitting diode does not exceed the maximum rating, and each characteristic deterioration or failure of the light emitting diode is reduced. In addition, it is possible to realize an operation within the set predetermined power consumption.

As shown in FIG. 6, the light-emitting
FIG. 7 is a circuit configuration example of the
The

The PWM signal generated from the

The
The hold signal output from the
In the
Therefore, the

The first upper limit set temperature (TUlimit) is a temperature determined as the maximum rating of the
The second upper limit set temperature (TLlimit) is a temperature slightly lower than the first upper limit set temperature (TUlimit).

(2) When the detected temperature T of the

When the detected temperature T becomes equal to or higher than the first upper limit temperature (TUlimit) (time T12), the backlight

Further, when the temperature continues to decrease and the detected temperature T becomes equal to or lower than the second upper limit set temperature (TLlimit) (time T14), the backlight
When a certain amount of time elapses from time T14 and the detected temperature T becomes higher than the second upper limit set temperature (TLlimit) (time T15), the backlight

Next, a specific example of the rotational speed processing will be described with reference to FIG.
In the graph shown in FIG. 9, the horizontal axis represents time, the left vertical axis represents the rotational speed S, and the right vertical axis represents the temperature T value (rotational speed). The dotted line is the detected temperature T of the
First, the
When the detected temperature T becomes equal to or higher than the first upper limit temperature (TUlimit) (time T22), the backlight
When a certain amount of time elapses from time T22 and the detected temperature T becomes lower than the first upper limit set temperature (TUlimit) (time T23), the backlight
Further, when the temperature continues to decrease and the detected temperature T becomes equal to or lower than the second upper limit set temperature (TLlimit) (time T24), the backlight
When a certain amount of time elapses from time T24 and the detected temperature T becomes higher than the second upper limit set temperature (TLlimit) (time T25), the backlight
By controlling the rotational speed S of the cooling
As described above, in the
