Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a copying machine, a laser printer, a fax machine, and the like using an electrophotographic process, and more specifically, an image forming apparatus that prints out an image based on print data sent from a host device on a predetermined recording medium. It is about.
Conventionally, image forming apparatuses such as printers and copiers using an electrophotographic system have been widely used.
In FIG. 13, 1 is a photosensitive drum, 2 is a charging roller, 3 is a laser exposure device, 4 is a reflecting mirror, 5 is a developing sleeve, 6 is toner, 7 is a toner container, 8 is a transfer roller, and 9 is a recording medium. Paper, 10 is a cleaning blade, 11 is a waste toner container, 12 is a fixing device, 13 is a paper cassette, 14 is a paper feed roller, 15 is a separation pad, and 16 is a pre-transfer guide.
The
In a fixing device in this type of image forming apparatus, in a high temperature and high humidity environment, when the moisture content of the recording material such as paper is high, the transfer charge supplied to the back surface of the recording material at the transfer portion is transmitted along the surface of the recording material. And the toner image transferred and formed on the recording material is easily lost. Further, when the moisture content is large, the amount of vapor generated at the fixing nip increases, and in particular, an image defect called tailing in which toner due to the vapor pressure scatters backward in a horizontal line image has occurred.
However, in an environment where the moisture content of the recording material and toner is low, such as in a low-temperature and low-humidity environment, the recording material such as paper tends to dry and become easily charged. There is a problem that offset occurs due to the excessive charging of the pressure roller and the force that separates the toner from the paper. In addition, the paper dust generated as the paper is conveyed is attracted by a pressure roller or a bias applied to the fixing film, and the paper dust acts like an adhesive between the toner and the pressure roller, and the pressure roller It was a factor of dirt.
Therefore, in view of the above circumstances, the present invention provides an image forming apparatus that includes tailings that are likely to occur in a high humidity environment, offsets that are likely to occur during continuous paper feeding in a low humidity environment, and paper dust adhesion. It is intended to prevent both pressure roller contamination.

(Function)
Based on the above means [1] to [4], the bias value applied to the heat fixing member or the pressure member is made variable according to the image information inputted from the host computer. When a line pattern having a line width of 100 μm to 800 μm and a line length of 5 mm or more is recognized, it is applied when image information having the same polarity as the toner and not including the line pattern is recognized. By applying a bias value that is larger than the bias value, tailing that tends to occur especially when printing horizontal line images in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, and the pressure roller surface that occurs when continuous paper is passed in a low-temperature and low-humidity environment Therefore, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of excessive negative charging, offset caused by this, and contamination of the pressure roller due to durability.
Further, based on the above means [5] and [6], the bias value applied to the heat fixing member or the pressure member between the sheets is made variable according to the image information inputted from the host computer. In a low-temperature and low-humidity environment, the bias value applied between the nth sheet and the (n + 1) th sheet is made variable according to the bias value applied when the sheet of recording material passes through the heating nip. It is possible to more surely prevent the occurrence of excessive negative charging on the pressure roller surface during continuous paper feeding and the accompanying offset.
As described above, according to the first to fifth aspects of the present invention, the bias value applied to the fixing film can be made variable according to the image information input from the host computer. Applied when recognizing a straight line image and having a line width of 100 μm to 800 μm and a line length of 5 mm or more when recognizing image information having the same polarity as the toner and not including the line pattern. By applying a bias value that is larger than the bias value to be applied, tailing that tends to occur especially when printing horizontal line images in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment is prevented, and additional processing that occurs when continuous paper is passed in a low-temperature and low-humidity environment. There are effects such as prevention of excessive negative charge on the surface of the pressure roller or offset caused by this, and prevention of pressure roller contamination due to durability. The
Further, the bias value applied to the fixing film between the sheets is made variable according to image information input from the host computer. Specifically, the bias applied when the nth recording material passes through the heating nip portion. Depending on the value, by making the bias value applied between the nth and n + 1th sheets variable, excessive negative charging of the pressure roller surface during continuous paper feeding in a low temperature and low humidity environment, There are effects such as completely preventing the occurrence of the offset.

(First embodiment)
In the present embodiment, a main body having the above configuration, a resolution of 600 dpi, and a process speed of 85 mm / Sec is used. In general, the tailing phenomenon is easily noticeable in a horizontal line image. In particular, it is conspicuous when the line width is about 100 μm to 800 μm and the line length is about 5 mm or more. Therefore, in the main body having a resolution of 600 dpi, since one dot is about 42.3 μm, the line width is 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction of the paper and continuously in the main scanning direction of the paper. This is likely to occur in a horizontal line image having a line length of 120 dots or more. In the present embodiment, since the toner exhibits a negative charging polarity, the bias applied to the

Next, the operation will be described in detail. FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing an operation procedure of the
First, in step S1, dot information for one line in the main scanning direction is read. Subsequently, in step S2, it is determined whether or not there is a line having a length m of 120 dots or more in the main scanning direction in the read one line. If there is no line having a length m of 120 dots or more in one line in the main scanning direction, the process proceeds directly to step S5. On the other hand, when there is a line having a length m of 120 dots or more in one line in the main scanning direction, in the next step S3, the determination scanning in step S2 is repeated several times in the sub scanning direction. It is counted whether it has been repeated, and it is determined whether or not the count number n is in the range of 2 <n <20. At this time, the count number n is the line width of the line. If the count number n is in the range of 2 <n <20 in step S3, the line width n is stored in the memory M1 in the next step S4. In step S3, if the count number n is not in the range of 2 <n <20, the process proceeds directly to step S5. In step S5, one line is moved in the sub-scanning direction, and in the next step S6, it is determined whether one page is completed. If one page has not been completed in step S6, the process returns to step S1 to read dot information for one line in the main scanning direction. If reading of dot information for one page is completed in step S6, the total N of line widths n stored in the memory M1 is calculated in the next step S7. In the next step S8, the ratio of the total line width n to the line for one page is calculated. The value calculated in step S8 is sent to the

As described above, in the image information input from the host computer, a horizontal line having a line width of 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction and a line length of 120 dots or more continuously in the main scanning direction. When the line image exceeds 20% of one page, an electric field from the paper to the fixing film is formed at the fixing nip portion by setting the bias value applied to the cored
Here, a horizontal line image having a line width of 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction and having a line length of 120 dots or more continuously in the main scanning direction exceeds 20% of one page. FIG. 8 shows the level of tailing and offset when continuously passing an image of less than 20% and an image of less than 20%, and the result of pressure roller smearing when 50,000 sheets are continuously passed. Here, when continuous paper feeding is performed with a constant bias regardless of input image information (−600 V, −200 V, 0 V) as in the prior art, the bias value is set according to input image information as in this embodiment. Comparison is made with the variable case. FIG. 8 also shows the surface potential of the pressure roller when 100 sheets are continuously fed. In addition, for tailing, comparative measurement is performed in an environment of
From FIG. 8, the bias value applied to the cored
In this embodiment, the bias is directly applied to the
In this embodiment, the input image information is a horizontal line image having a line width of 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction and having a line length of 120 dots or more continuously in the main scanning direction. Although it is assumed that 20% of one page is exceeded, these numerical ranges can be changed depending on printer performance, toner difference, and the like. Therefore, for example, even one horizontal line image having a line width of 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction and having a line length of 120 dots or more continuously in the main scanning direction may be included in one page. For example, the bias value can be increased. Further, the bias value applied to the cored
(Second Embodiment)
In the first embodiment, a horizontal line image having a line width of 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction and having a line length of 120 dots or more continuously in the main scanning direction is included in one page. This is the result when images that exceed 20% and images that are less than 20% are continuously passed. When only images that exceed 20% are continuously passed, -600V is always applied during printing. In this case, there remains a problem that the surface potential of the pressure roller is charged up to about −2 KV during continuous paper feeding.
Therefore, in this embodiment, the image forming apparatus in the first embodiment is used and applied to the
Specifically, the operation procedure of the
As described above, when -600 V is applied to the
In addition, if -200V is applied to the
Here, a horizontal line image having a line width of 2 to 20 dots continuously in the sub-scanning direction and having a line length of 120 dots or more continuously in the main scanning direction exceeds 20% of one page. When a continuous image is passed continuously, that is, when a bias of -600 V is always applied during continuous paper printing, the level of tailing and offset, and a pressure roller when continuously feeding 50,000 sheets The result of contamination is shown in FIG. Similar to the first embodiment, when continuous paper feeding is performed with a constant bias regardless of the input image information (−600 V, −200 V, 0 V) as in the prior art, the input image information is as in this embodiment. Is compared with the case where the bias value is variable. In addition, the surface potential of the pressure roller when 100 sheets are continuously fed is also shown. In addition, for tailing, comparative measurement is performed in an environment of
