Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a switched capacitor power supply circuit, and more particularly to a switched capacitor power supply circuit suitable for use in an electronic device such as a mobile phone and a switch drive circuit thereof.
In recent years, as a power supply circuit for electronic equipment, a switching element and a capacitor that can be finely processed such as a MOSFET are arranged on a substrate without using a magnetic component such as a coil or a transformer, and the switching element is controlled on / off. Thus, a small and lightweight switched capacitor power supply circuit capable of obtaining a desired output voltage by freely switching the connection of the capacitor and its switch drive circuit (see
For example, FIG. 39 shows a serial-parallel type switched capacitor power supply circuit according to
On the other hand, FIG. 41 shows a Dickson-type switched capacitor power supply circuit according to
On the other hand, FIG. 43 shows a ring-shaped switched capacitor power supply circuit according to
However, in the conventional technique described above, for example, in the serial-parallel power supply circuit disclosed in
On the other hand, the ring-type circuit of
By the way, in order to increase the conversion efficiency of the switched capacitor power supply circuit, a driver circuit that reduces the on-resistance of the power switch Si, j is applied. In that case, a switch drive circuit is known that lowers the on-resistance of the power switch by applying a voltage larger than the input voltage to the gate terminal of the power switch. For example, in
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and can obtain an output voltage obtained by stepping up or down an input voltage to an arbitrary value other than an integral multiple or a fraction of an integer, and a ring. An object of the present invention is to provide a switched-capacitor power supply circuit that can be made smaller in circuit scale than a circuit of a type. Another object of the present invention is to provide a switch drive circuit in a switched capacitor power supply circuit that can effectively drive a power switch and can reduce the circuit scale.
In order to solve the above-described problem, a switched capacitor power supply circuit according to the present invention is a switched capacitor power supply circuit that obtains a desired output voltage by charging and discharging a plurality of capacitors with a predetermined input voltage via a plurality of switching means. A plurality of first switching means (S11,...) And a plurality of capacitors (C1 to CN) are alternately connected to form a series circuit of capacitors via the first switching. One terminal is provided so as to be groundable via a plurality of second switching means (S12, j), and the other terminal of the capacitor is provided via a plurality of third switching means (S13, j). A parallel circuit of the capacitors is provided via the second and third switching means so as to be connectable to the other terminals of the other capacitors. Composed of switched capacitor power supply circuit provided freely formed. Accordingly, the first to third switching means are alternately driven by the two-phase clocks, and the capacitors are switched in series or in parallel to increase or decrease the input voltage.
In this case, the first switching means at one end of the series circuit is connected to the input terminal (Vin) or the output circuit (2) via the switchable switching means (10), and one of the terminals of the capacitor is connected The output circuit (2) or the input terminal (Vin) may be connected to the output circuit (2) or the input terminal (Vin) via the fourth switching means. Thus, when the voltage is stepped down, the first switching means is connected to the input terminal by the switching means, and the fourth switching means (S14, 1) is connected to the output circuit to obtain a step-down output. In the case of boosting, the switching means can be switched to connect the first switching means to the output circuit and connect the fourth switching means to the input terminal to obtain a boosted output.
In addition, the first switching means at one end of the series circuit is connected to the input terminal, and one of the terminals of the capacitor is connected to the output circuit via the fourth switching means, so Get the circuit.
Furthermore, the first switching means at one end of the series circuit may be connected to the output circuit, and one of the terminals of the capacitor may be connected to the input terminal via the fourth switching means. Thereby, a circuit dedicated to boosting can be obtained.
On the other hand, the switched capacitor power supply circuit according to the present invention includes a plurality of first switching means in a switched capacitor power supply circuit that obtains a desired output voltage by charging / discharging a plurality of capacitors with a predetermined input voltage via a plurality of switching means. (S11, j) and a plurality of capacitors (C1 to CN) are alternately connected so that a series circuit of capacitors can be formed through the first switching, and one terminal of the capacitor has a plurality of second terminals. Connected to one terminal of another capacitor via switching means (Si6, j), and the other terminal of the capacitor is connected to another capacitor via a plurality of third switching means (Si7, j) Is connected to the other terminal of at least one parallel circuit via the first to third switching means and the series circuit connected to the at least one parallel circuit. Doo is configured provided freely formed. Thus, the first to third switching means are driven to form a series-parallel circuit of arbitrary capacitors, and a desired step-down output is obtained.
In this case, the first switching means at one end of the series circuit is connected to the input terminal, and one terminal of the capacitor is connected via the fourth switching means, or the second or third switching means and the fourth switching means. It may be configured to be connected to the output circuit through a means, thereby forming a circuit dedicated for step-down.
Further, it is advantageous that the first to fourth switching means in the above circuit are each formed of a MOSFET.
On the other hand, the switch drive circuit applied to the switched capacitor power supply circuit according to the present invention comprises an inverter (20) for inverting the input voltage and a drive means for controlling the gate-source voltage of the switching means based on the inverter output. (30), and the driving means is turned on when the output of the inverter is low, and is turned off when the output of the inverter is high, and the fourth, fifth and seventh switching means (M4, M5, M7) and the inverter The third and sixth switching means (M3, M6), which are turned off when the output of the transistor is low and turned on when the output is high. When the fifth and seventh switching means are turned on, the capacitors are charged with a desired capacity via these switching means, and when the third and sixth switching means are turned on, A capacitor (Cb) for applying a voltage obtained by adding the source voltage of the switching means to the voltage corresponding to the charged capacity is provided to the gate of the switching means via these switching means. This can effectively increase the conversion efficiency of the output voltage.
According to the switched capacitor power supply circuit of the present invention, in the switched capacitor power supply circuit that obtains a desired output voltage by charging / discharging a plurality of capacitors with a predetermined input voltage via the plurality of switching means, a plurality of first switching means And a plurality of capacitors are alternately connected so that a series circuit of capacitors can be formed via the first switching, and one terminal of each capacitor can be grounded via the plurality of second switching means. Driven alternately by the clock of respectively two phases can be raised or lowered the input voltage by switching a capacitor in series or in parallel. Therefore, a desired step-up or step-down output voltage can be obtained by simple control. In addition, the number of switching means can be reduced by a number corresponding to the number of capacitors, compared with a ring circuit, and the circuit scale can be greatly reduced.

The first power switch S11, j is a semiconductor element to which a MOSFET is applied and is turned on / off by control of its gate terminal. The first power switch S11,1 at one end of the series circuit is connected to the switching
On the other hand, second power switches S12, j are connected to the other terminals of the capacitors C1 to CN-1, respectively, so that they can be grounded. Further, one terminal of each of the capacitors C1 to CN-1 can be freely connected to one terminal of each of the capacitors C2 to CN of the next stage through the third power switch S13, j.
In the above configuration, when the voltage is stepped down, first, the switching
Next, when boosting, the switching

As described above, according to the switched capacitor power supply circuit according to the second and third embodiments, as shown in FIG. 37, an output voltage of an arbitrary multiple can be obtained as compared with the series-parallel type or the Dickson type. . Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 36, the number of power switches Si, j can be reduced to approximately N for N capacitors as compared with the ring type. Therefore, there is an effect that an output voltage corresponding to a desired device can be obtained at low cost.

In such a configuration, the switched capacitor power supply circuit according to this embodiment is shown in FIGS. 15 to 21 by supplying the clock pulse φi, j to the power switch Si, j as shown in FIGS. In this way, the output voltage voltages of (1/2) Vin, (1/3) Vin, or (2/3) Vin are respectively obtained. That is, in order to obtain (1/2) Vin, first, as shown in FIG. 12, the clock pulses φ14,1, φ27,1 are set to “High” and the clock pulses φ11,3, φ14,2 are set. , Φ16,2, φ17,1, φ26,1 are set to “Low”, and the clock pulse φ11,1, φ11,2 becomes “High” from

As described above, according to the switched capacitor power supply circuit of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 22 to 24, the circuit scale can be greatly reduced.
Next, FIG. 25 shows an embodiment of a switch drive circuit applied to the switched capacitor power supply circuit according to the present invention. The switch drive circuit according to the present example is a driver circuit that drives the first to fourth power switches Si, j composed of MOSFETs applied to the switched capacitor power supply circuit of the above-described embodiment. The drive circuit is connected between the gate and the source and controls the gate voltage to turn on / off the power switch Si, j. In particular, in this embodiment, an input circuit for inputting a clock φin corresponding to the input voltage Vin is formed by the
Specifically, the switch drive circuit according to the present embodiment includes an
Next, FIG. 26 shows output voltage characteristics compared with the conventional circuit shown in FIG. 45 in order to clarify the effect of the switch drive circuit according to this embodiment. In this case, the simulation was performed under the conditions of capacitor Ca = Cb = 4 nF, Vin = 3.6 V, and Vk = 3.6 V. As can be seen from the figure, the switch drive circuit according to the present embodiment can obtain the same output voltage even though the number of elements is smaller than that of the conventional circuit.
