Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light source lighting control method for a projector in which an output of a light source is selectively set.
As a conventional liquid crystal projector, for example, the one described in JP-A-5-313115 is known. FIG. 14 shows the basic structure of this known liquid crystal projector. In FIG. 14, the
A halogen lamp or the like is used as the
When a voltage is applied across the thickness direction of the
In general, in a liquid crystal projector, it is often desirable to change the luminance of a light source according to the user's preference or the brightness of a room where the liquid crystal projector is installed. For example, if the brightness of the light source is reduced according to the above factors, the lifetime of the light source can be extended compared to the case where the light source is always driven at maximum brightness.
However, in the known liquid crystal projector of FIG. 14, the luminance of the
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a light source lighting control method for a projector that extends the life of the light source and saves power consumption.
The present invention is a method of controlling a light source so as to selectively turn on a plurality of light sources of a projector, the step of inputting a signal regarding the number of lighting of the plurality of light sources, and the input signal Attempting to turn on all light sources and determining whether the number of usable light sources is greater than or equal to a predetermined number specified by the signal, and based on the determination, This is a light source lighting control method for a projector that includes a step of preferentially selecting which one of the light sources should be used in ascending order of the cumulative lighting time of the light source and turning off unselected light sources.
Further, in the projector light source lighting control method, a signal regarding the number of light sources to be turned on is input by operating a remote control unit.
Further, in the projector light source lighting control method, the signal about the number of lighting of the light source is generated by a sensor that detects the brightness of the room.
According to the present invention, in a projector including a plurality of light sources, the number of light sources to be lit can be selected, so that power consumption can be saved when used in a bright room. In the selective lighting, the first light source is turned on first, and the light sources with the shortest integrated lighting time are selected in order from the lowest, and the light sources not selected are turned off, so that the life of the light sources can be averaged and lengthened. .
Furthermore, convenience is improved by selecting the number of light sources to be turned on according to the brightness of the room in which the projector is used.
FIG. 1 shows a liquid crystal projector K1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention. Similarly to the conventional liquid crystal projector of FIG. 14, the liquid crystal projector K1 includes a
The liquid crystal projector K1 further includes a
According to a preferred embodiment, a
The
The image data input to the liquid
The
The
According to the present invention, the
In the correction according to the first aspect, the image data is changed according to the dotted line curve shown in FIG. 15 to compensate for the light intensity change caused by the intrinsic transmittance characteristic of the
In the correction according to the second aspect, the image data is changed according to the dotted line or the alternate long and short dash line shown in FIG. The change in the power of the
C=ΔC1xΔC2
The degree of correction for the first aspect can be represented by ΔC1, while the degree of correction for the second aspect can be represented by ΔC2. Therefore, when the total correction degree is represented by C, the following relationship is obtained.
C = ΔC1 × ΔC2
As long as the same
If the
After a certain period of use, the efficiency of the light source is reduced by aging as shown by the dashed line in FIG. If such a decrease in efficiency occurs, the voltage supplied to the
As a result, in the liquid crystal projector K1, the luminance of the
FIG. 7 shows a liquid crystal projector K2 according to the second embodiment of the present invention. Similar to the liquid
Further, the
In this embodiment, the user manually operates the remote control unit or the like as described above to generate the signal A based on his / her preference. The signal A is the brightness of the room where the liquid crystal projector K2 is installed. It may be automatically generated by a sensor that detects the thickness.
Hereinafter, an operation procedure of the liquid crystal projector K2 having the above configuration will be described with reference to a flowchart of FIG. First, in step S1, a signal A indicating which of the
Thereafter, in step S3, it is determined whether or not the number N of
Thereafter, in step S6, information about the
Furthermore, in FIG. 9, since the
On the other hand, if step S3 is “NO”, the process flow proceeds to step S7 where “1” is added to the number R of retries. Next, in step S8, it is determined whether the number of retries R is smaller than a predetermined number, for example, 3. If step S8 is “YES”, the process flow returns to step S2. On the other hand, when step S8 is “NO”, only
Next, in step S10, information on the
In the liquid crystal projector K2, since all the
Further, in the liquid crystal projector K2, the combination of
As a result, in the liquid crystal projector K2, the

In the liquid crystal projector K3, the

As a result, in the liquid crystal projector K3, not only the brightness of each of the
