Description
The present invention includes a heating roller and a pressure roller that are pressed against each other, and the unfixed toner is melted by passing the pressure roller between the heating roller and the pressure roller through a sheet on which the unfixed toner is adhered. A fixing device comprising: fixing means for fixing the paper; and a peeling claw that is pressed against the surface of the heating roller and peels the paper that is in contact with the heating roller from the heating roller; and the fixing device The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus comprising:

Here, the toner is melted by the heat applied from the superheat roller, and penetrates the paper by the pressure of the pressure roller and the superheat roller. At this stage, the toner is in pressure contact with the heating roller in a molten state, and the paper and the heating roller are bonded. (C) is a state in which the leading edge of the paper is peeled off by the
Conventionally, the peeling claw provided in the fixing device is always fixed at a fixed position, and the type and thickness of the paper to be conveyed, the conveyance path through which the paper is conveyed after passing through the fixing device, and post-processing. It has not been considered at all that the time required for overheating by the heating roller varies depending on the type.
In the heat roller system, the paper is overheated by the
Further, in order to perform the fixing operation, the entire sheet must be raised to a predetermined temperature. When the paper is thin, the time required for the paper to reach a predetermined temperature is shorter than when using normal thickness paper. On the other hand, when thick paper is used, the time for the paper to reach a predetermined temperature is longer than that of normal thickness paper. If a thin paper is given the same heating time as a normal thickness paper, the thin paper will be overheated for an unnecessarily long time, resulting in excessive curling. Similarly, if the same heating time is given to the thick paper as the plain paper, the heating time is insufficient for the thick paper, so that not only the curl degree becomes smaller than the desired value but also the toner may not be sufficiently fixed on the paper. is there. Therefore, in order to obtain the same fixing performance for each paper type, it may be necessary to adjust the time during which the paper and the heating roller are in contact with each other according to the paper type (hereinafter, heating time).
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and its object is to adjust the optimal curl degree for the paper transport path and to adjust the heating time for the paper type. Another object of the present invention is to provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus that provide the same fixing performance for each type of paper.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention comprises a fixing nip portion comprising a heating roller and a pressure roller that are pressed against each other, and being a pressure contact area between the heating roller and the pressure roller on a sheet on which unfixed toner is adhered. A fixing unit that melts and fixes the unfixed toner on the sheet by passing the sheet, and a peeling claw that is pressed against the surface of the heating roller and separates the sheet that is in an adhesive state with the heating roller from the heating roller. The fixing device is configured as a fixing device provided with peeling claw driving means for changing the position of the peeling claw on the outer periphery of the heating roller.
Further, the image forming apparatus includes the fixing device provided with a driving unit for the peeling claw.
When the peeling claw is moved in the vicinity of the fixing nip portion, the section in which the heating roller and the sheet are conveyed while being bonded is shortened, so that the heating time is shortened and the curl degree is decreased. Further, when the peeling claw is moved far from the fixing nip portion, the section in which the heating roller and the sheet are conveyed while being bonded becomes longer, so that the heating time becomes longer and the curl degree becomes larger. As described above, the curl degree and the heating time can be adjusted by moving the peeling claw to an appropriate position with respect to the desired curl degree and heating time.
Here, the conditions for moving the peeling claw include the type of paper used for printing (plain paper, OHP paper, etc.), the thickness of the paper used for printing (thin paper, plain paper, cardboard, etc.), or the fixing device. The type of processing that the sheet receives after passing through, the transport route, and the like are conceivable, and the above-mentioned conditions are used alone, or the separation claw is moved in consideration of a plurality.
The means for driving the peeling claw is performed by driving a claw holding member that holds a plurality of the peeling claw.
As described above, according to the present invention, there are provided a fixing device provided with a driving means for the peeling claw and an image forming apparatus provided with the fixing means. The type of paper, the thickness of the paper, and the fixing device are provided. It is possible to adjust the heating time and the curl degree by moving the peeling claw according to the conveyance path of the sheet after passing and the type of processing the sheet receives.
When the paper type changes, even if the required heating time varies depending on the paper type, the heating time can be adjusted appropriately by a simple configuration that changes the position of the peeling claw to obtain a fixed fixing performance. it can. For types of paper that require a short heating time, the transporting distance until the paper is peeled off from the heating roller is shortened by moving the peeling claw near the fixing nip, thereby shortening the heating time. It can be performed. On the other hand, for types of paper that require a long heating time, the distance that the paper is conveyed while being in contact with the heating roller can be increased by moving the peeling claw far from the fixing nip. A sufficient time can be secured for the sheet to reach a predetermined temperature.
Further, when the type of paper changes, even if the required heating time varies depending on the thickness of the paper, the heating time can be adjusted by changing the position of the peeling claw to obtain a fixed fixing performance. For thin paper, by moving the peeling claw to the vicinity of the fixing nip portion, the conveyance distance until the paper is peeled off from the heating roller can be shortened, and the heating time can be shortened. Accordingly, excessive curling can be suppressed. On the other hand, for types of paper that require a long heating time, the distance that the paper is conveyed while being in contact with the heating roller can be increased by moving the peeling claw far from the fixing nip. A sufficient time can be secured for the sheet to reach a predetermined temperature.
In addition, the paper can have a desired curl degree in accordance with the conveyance path after the paper passes through the fixing device and the type of post-processing. If the conveyance path is linear, it is ideal that the curl degree of the sheet is small. In this case, the curl degree of the sheet can be reduced by moving the peeling claw in the vicinity of the fixing nip portion and shortening the section in which the sheet is conveyed while being adhered to the heating roller. Therefore, it is possible to transport a sheet with a small curl suitable for the linear transport path.
Conversely, if the conveyance path is curved with a small curvature, it is ideal that the curl degree of the sheet is large in the direction of the curved conveyance path. In this case, the curl degree of the paper can be increased by moving the peeling claw far from the fixing nip portion. Therefore, it is possible to give the sheet a large curl suitable for a curved path. As described above, by changing the position of the peeling claw, it is possible to give the paper a suitable curl degree according to the conveyance path and the type of post-processing, and it is easy to avoid JAM during conveyance.
Further, by mounting the fixing device on the image forming apparatus, the toner can be fixed on the paper with the same fixing performance as the type of paper, and an appropriate curl degree can be set on the path after passing through the fixing device. Thus, an image forming apparatus that can be provided is obtained.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings so that the present invention can be understood. The following embodiment is an example embodying the present invention, and does not limit the technical scope of the present invention.

The image forming apparatus CO1 according to the embodiment of the present invention shown in FIG. 3 has a copier mode, a printer mode, and a FAX mode as print modes, and the control unit responds to the print request contents in each print mode. Each processing mode is selected.
The configuration of the image forming apparatus CO1 is roughly classified into a document reading unit X1 (document reading unit), a paper feeding unit X2 (paper feeding unit), a printing unit X3 (printing unit), and a paper discharge unit X4. The document reading unit X1 is disposed above the paper feeding unit X2, and the paper discharge unit X4 is disposed at an intermediate portion between the document reading unit and the paper feeding unit X2.
Hereinafter, the configuration of the image forming apparatus CO1 will be described taking the operation of the copier mode from among the processing modes as an example.

Next, a processing procedure for controlling the heating time of the paper according to the thickness of the paper will be described with reference to FIG.
The control system of the image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing device according to the present embodiment controls the position of the peeling
As shown in S10, the control unit waits for an input of a print request. When there is an input of a print request, the control unit displays a comment for urging the user to input print conditions from a display or the like arranged on the exterior front portion of the image forming apparatus at 20. In the conventional image forming apparatus, the printing conditions are determination of magnification, determination of single-sided or double-sided printing, and in this embodiment, the paper thickness is set to one of “thin paper”, “plain paper”, and “thick paper”. Includes setting items. In S30, it is determined whether or not the user has input printing conditions including paper thickness. If the print condition has been input (S30 YES), the process proceeds to S40. If there is no input (S30 NO), the process returns to S20 to continue the display prompting the user to input the print condition again.
In S <b> 40, it is determined whether or not the set condition for the sheet thickness setting item among the printing conditions input by the user is thin paper. If it is thin (YES at S40), the process proceeds to S50, and the peeling claw is moved to position A. If it is not thin paper (NO at S40), the process proceeds to S41, where it is determined whether or not the set condition for the paper thickness is plain paper (S41). If it is plain paper (S41 YES), the process proceeds to S51, and the peeling claw is moved to position B. If it is not plain paper (NO in S41), the process proceeds to S42, where it is determined whether or not the set condition for the paper thickness is the pressure paper. If it is thick paper (YES in S42), the process proceeds to S52, and the peeling claw is moved to position C. If it is not plain paper (NO in S42), the process returns to S40 again, and the confirmation of the input paper thickness is repeated. When the peeling claw is moved to a position corresponding to the sheet thickness input in S50, S51, and S52, the process proceeds to S60, and a printing process is performed.
After the printing process, the process proceeds to S70 to check whether there is a next printing. If there is no next printing (NO in S70), the process proceeds to S80, and the position of the peeling
By changing the position of the peeling
FIG. 6A illustrates a configuration example of the drive system for moving the peeling
