Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a high-pressure mercury lamp, a lamp unit, and an image display device.
In high-pressure mercury lamps, a large amount of mercury is enclosed in the discharge chamber, and the mercury vapor pressure during lighting is set high.
This is because when the mercury vapor pressure during lighting is set high, the discharge arc is constricted, so that the luminous flux emitted from the lamp can be improved, and the emission of mercury molecules over the entire visible light region increases. This is because the red component which is sometimes insufficient increases and a good color balance of red, green and blue can be obtained.
However, among high-pressure mercury lamps, a lamp (hereinafter referred to as a “high-intensity lamp”) in which the amount of mercury enclosed per light emitting part internal volume is 0.25 mg / mm 3 or more is manufactured, and its tube axis is When the life test was performed by lighting in a posture substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction (hereinafter, this posture is referred to as “horizontal arrangement”, and unless otherwise specified, the lamp is lit in a horizontal arrangement), several hundred hours, etc. It was found that blackening may occur in the upper center of the arc tube within a relatively short time.
When such a problem is attached to a liquid crystal projector or the like, the lamp is dimmed according to the use environment and the type of image to be projected (hereinafter referred to as a “dimming lamp”). )), Particularly when the dimming is turned on.
When such blackening occurs, the luminous flux of the lamp decreases, and the temperature of the blackened portion becomes abnormally high when the lamp is lit. This causes recrystallization of the arc tube, and in the worst case, the arc tube is damaged. there is a possibility.
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a high-pressure mercury lamp, a lamp unit, and an image display device in which blackening is unlikely to occur.
The high-pressure mercury lamp according to the present invention has a substantially spheroidal or substantially spherical light-emitting portion and sealing portions provided at both ends of the light-emitting portion, and an outer periphery near both ends of the light-emitting portion. A heat insulating film is formed on the surface, the outer surface area of the light emitting part is So (mm 2 ), and the area of the heat insulating film formed in the outer surface area of the light emitting part is Sp (mm 2 ). In this case, 0.10 ≦ Sp / So ≦ 0.275 is satisfied.
Further, the amount of mercury enclosed per inner volume of the light emitting unit is 0.25 mg / mm 3 or more, and the rated power is 160 W to 400 W.
Furthermore, dimming is performed at a power of 85% or less with respect to the rated power, the amount of mercury enclosed per inner volume of the light emitting unit is 0.20 mg / mm 3 or more, and the rated power is 160 W to 250 W. It is characterized by that.
The lamp unit according to the present invention includes the high-pressure mercury lamp and a reflecting mirror that reflects light emitted from the high-pressure mercury lamp.
Furthermore, the image display device according to the present invention is characterized by using the lamp unit as a light source.
According to the high-pressure mercury lamp of the present invention, the heat retaining films are formed on the outer peripheral surfaces near both ends of the light emitting section, and by forming these heat retaining films so as to satisfy a predetermined range, the outermost tube of the arc tube is formed. The cold spot temperature can be increased. As a result, the saturated vapor pressure of mercury rises, so that liquid-phase mercury can be reduced as much as possible, and the occurrence of blackening in the high-pressure mercury lamp can be suppressed.
この発光部10aの両端部付近の外周面には保温膜9a,9b(以下、一対の保温膜9a,9bをまとめて「保温膜9」と称する場合もある。)
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of a high-
The
The sealing
Also, a pair of
The
Further,
Each dimension of the
As described above, in the present embodiment, the
In the past, since the maximum temperature of the tube wall was set to a high temperature (for example, 1000 ° C.), it was considered that all of the enclosed mercury was evaporated at the time of lighting without using any special means.
However, in recent years, in order to meet the demand for higher brightness in the market, increasing the amount of mercury enclosed in the high-pressure mercury lamp and increasing the arc tube volume to increase pressure resistance increases the difference between the highest temperature and the lowest temperature. (For example, the difference is about 200 ° C.). As a result, the coldest spot temperature did not rise sufficiently, and even when the lamp was turned on, all of the enclosed mercury could not be evaporated.
If liquid phase mercury is present even when the lamp is lit, the lamp voltage and lamp current tend to fluctuate and the discharge arc becomes unstable. For this reason, the part where temperature rises locally tends to occur at the electrode tip, and the electrode material (tungsten) evaporates in a large amount in a short time. This tungsten is conveyed to the center upper part of the light emitting part by convection, adheres to the inner wall of the light emitting part center upper part, and causes blackening.
Here, if the coldest spot temperature is made higher by setting the tube wall load to a higher load, the saturation vapor pressure of mercury can be increased, and liquid phase mercury can also be reduced. It is possible. However, when the maximum temperature exceeds about 1100 ° C., another problem that recrystallization of quartz, which is the arc tube material, proceeds. Therefore, normally, the maximum temperature of the inner wall of the arc tube is set to about 1060 ° C. at the maximum. If the maximum temperature is set in this way, the arc tube volume is large as described above, so the coldest spot temperature is significantly lower than the highest temperature, and the coldest spot temperature has not risen sufficiently. is there.
Similarly, in the dimming lamp, when the mercury density is 0.20 mg / mm 3 or more, the arc tube volume is large and the lamp is lit at a power lower than the rated power, so the coldest spot temperature is sufficient. It was not rising.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, the
In general, when the lamp is turned on, the position of the center upper portion of the inner wall of the
(Range in which the
As described above, since the coldest spot temperature is formed at both ends of the inner wall of the
On the other hand, since the temperature is relatively high in the central portion of the inner wall of the

First, a test (test 1) was conducted to examine the influence of the formation range of the
In the present embodiment, since the
As shown in Table 1, the amount of mercury enclosed (hereinafter referred to as “mercury density”) per inner volume of the
On the other hand, no blackening occurred in the high-
From this test result, it can be said that 2Sp / So is preferably 0.20 or more in the high-
Further, as shown in Table 1, with respect to the dimming
On the other hand, in the dimming
From this test result, it can be said that it is desirable that 2Sp / So is 0.20 or more even in the dimming
Whether or not liquid phase mercury is present at the time of lighting can be estimated by observing the fluctuation range of the lamp voltage. If liquid-phase mercury is present at the time of lighting, the fluctuation range of the lamp voltage becomes large and unstable.
In the case where the blackening of the
As 2Sp / So is larger, the coldest spot can be raised more, so that the occurrence of blackening can be suppressed. However, on the other hand, the luminous flux is reduced. Therefore, 2Sp / So is desirably 0.55 or less (the Sp / So range of the left and right
In the dimming
(Lighting test 2)
Next, a test (Test 2) similar to Test 1 was performed on a lamp with a rated power of 160 W. The basic configuration of the 160 W lamp used in this test is the same as that of the
Inner diameter: 5 mm, outer diameter: 10 mm at the center of the light emitting part. Light emitting part volume: 0.09 cm 3 , inner surface area: 110 mm 2 . Distance between electrodes Le: 1.0 mm, length of inner diameter Lt in the tube axis direction: 8.1 mm. Total length of arc tube: 55 mm.
The results of Test 2 are shown in Table 2 below.
In the high-intensity lamp having a mercury density of 0.30 mg / mm 3 , blackening does not occur when 2Sp / So is set to 0.20.
Further, in the case of a high-intensity lamp having a mercury density of 0.25 mg / mm 3 , there was no effect of blackening due to the presence or absence of the heat insulating film after the lighting time of 1000 hours, but there was no heat insulating film. And 2Sp / So = 0.15, the fluctuation width of the lamp voltage is observed, and it is estimated that the width is unstable and unvaporized mercury was present. In order to prevent the occurrence of blackening more reliably, it can be said that 2Sp / So is preferably 0.20 or more.
In the case of a dimming lamp with a mercury density of 0.30 mg / mm 3 , when 2Sp / So = 0.20, blackening occurs even at about 85% dimming (input power 135W relative to rated power 160W). Did not occur. Even in a dimming lamp with a mercury density of 0.20 mg / mm 3 or more, it can be said that 2Sp / So is preferably at least 0.20 or more in order to more reliably prevent the occurrence of blackening.
Thus, it can be seen that the optimum range for forming the heat insulating film obtained from Test 1 can be applied even if the rated power is different. In particular, it has been experimentally confirmed that the high luminance type can be applied to a lamp of 160 W to 400 W, and the dimming type having a mercury density of 0.20 mg / mm 3 or more can be applied to a lamp of 160 W to 250 W. ing.
(Influence on the coldest spot temperature by the formation of the heat retaining film 9)
Next, the influence on the coldest spot temperature by the formation of the
log10P=4.981−3137/T
この式は、450℃以下での水銀蒸気圧の実測値[A.W.C.Menzies,Z.physik.
The relationship between the temperature [absolute temperature T (K)] and the saturated vapor pressure of mercury [atmospheric pressure P (atm)] is expressed by the following equation.
log 10 P = 4.981-3137 / T
This equation is derived with reference to an actual measurement value of mercury vapor pressure at 450 ° C. or lower [see AWCMenzies, Z.physik.Chem., 130, 90-94 (1927)].
The relationship between the temperature created based on the above equation and the saturated vapor pressure of mercury is shown in Table 3 below.
From Table 3, it can be estimated that the temperatures at which the saturated vapor pressure of mercury is 20 MPa, 25 MPa, and 30 MPa are about 900 ° C., about 940 ° C., and about 980 ° C., respectively.
That is, in the above test 1, for example, in the conventional lamp having a mercury density of 0.25 mg / mm 3 (operating pressure is 25 MPa) without a heat retaining film, the coldest spot temperature was lower than 940 ° C., so that all mercury could not be vaporized. In the
In addition, as described above, the
(Method of forming heat insulation film)
Since the method of forming the

(Modification)
In this embodiment, the heat insulating film is not formed on the outer peripheral surface of the sealing portion, but the heat insulating film may be formed also on the outer peripheral surface.
