Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an IC inspection apparatus for inspecting the electrical characteristics of an IC device, and in particular, a pressing method, a pressing apparatus, and an IC handler that are suitable for preventing overshoot when an IC device is pressed against an inspection socket. And an IC inspection apparatus having the IC handler.
Conventionally, in this type of IC inspection apparatus, an uninspected IC device placed on a tray is sucked and held by a gripping unit called a device chuck, and the sucked and held IC device is conveyed onto an inspection socket by an IC handler. After that, it is pressed with a predetermined pressing force. As a result, the lead of the IC device is brought into electrical contact with the socket pin provided on the socket for inspection to conduct electrical inspection. In this test, it is necessary to press with the optimum pressing force according to the type of the IC device or with the optimum pressing force according to the inspection purpose. For this reason, conventionally, an air cylinder and an electropneumatic regulator for controlling the air pressure supplied to the air cylinder are provided, and a gripping part is connected to a piston provided in the air cylinder so as to be movable up and down. There has been disclosed a pressing device capable of pressing an IC device sucked and held by a gripping portion with an optimal pressing force by controlling the pressure (see, for example, Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2).
In the techniques of Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2, when inspecting an IC device, a predetermined air pressure is supplied to the air cylinder in advance, and the piston of the air cylinder is positioned at the extension stroke end as an initial position. In this state, the entire pressing device including the gripping part and the air cylinder is lowered, and the gripping part connected to the piston is lowered onto the inspection socket. Then, after the IC device is brought into contact with the socket for inspection and the piston is pushed back upward from the stroke end on the extension side, the piston is moved downward by controlling the air pressure through the electropneumatic regulator in that state. By pushing forward, the IC device is pressed with an optimum pressing force.
However, in this technique, when the pressing operation is performed, the air pressure has already been supplied to the air cylinder, and therefore an overshoot (a pressing force larger than the set pressing force) occurs due to an impact at the time of contact. There is. Therefore, as a technique for preventing this, there is a technique in which the pressure of the air cylinder is released in advance and contact is made in a state where the air pressure is released so that overshoot does not occur (see, for example, Patent Document 3).
By the way, in recent years, IC devices to be inspected are also diversified, and for example, IC devices such as CSPs that are mounted as bare chips have appeared. Since this type of IC device is very vulnerable to impact and easily damaged, it is required to press with a smaller pressing force than that of a conventional resin mold package. However, in the techniques of Patent Documents 1 and 2 as well as the technique of Patent Document 3, at least the weight of the gripping part is applied as a pressing force at the time of contact, and even the weight of the gripping part may cause overshoot. Therefore, it has not been desirable to use it for the inspection of recent IC devices having characteristics.
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and an object of the present invention is to provide a pressing method, a pressing device, an IC handler, and an IC inspection device that can reliably prevent overshoot during contact.
According to the pressing method of the present invention, an IC device gripped by a gripping portion connected to the lower end of a piston is pressed by a pressing means having a piston that is pressed by air pressure to move up and down. When performing a pressing operation to press against the inspection socket for performing, the gripping part is held against its weight in a state where the piston is pulled up above the extension stroke end in advance, and the piston is moved upward. Supply of air pressure to the pressing means is started from the pulled-up state, the piston is lowered by the air pressure, and the IC device gripped by the gripping portion is brought into contact with the inspection socket, and then a predetermined amount is applied to the inspection socket. It is pressed with a pressing force.
Thereby, an impact does not occur at the time of contact, and it is possible to reliably prevent overshoot.
The pressing device according to the present invention includes a gripping part for gripping the IC device, and a piston that is connected to the lower end part and is moved up and down by being pressed by air pressure. The piston is lowered and gripped by the gripping part. The IC device is predetermined by the pressing means for performing a pressing operation for pressing the IC device against the inspection socket for performing electrical inspection of the IC device, the pressure control means for controlling the air pressure supplied to the pressing means, and the pressing means. Control means for controlling the pressure control means so as to be pressed against the inspection socket by the pressing force of the pressure, and the pressing means sets the weight of the gripping portion in a state in which the piston is pulled up above the stroke end on the extension side in advance. The control means starts supplying air pressure to the pressing means from the state where the gripping part is pulled upward during the pressing operation by the pressing means. After contacting the test socket IC devices lowers the gripper by its air pressure, controls the pressure control means so as to press a predetermined pressing force to the test socket.
As a result, no impact is generated when the IC device contacts the inspection socket, and overshoot can be reliably prevented.
Further, in the pressing device according to the present invention, gripping portions having different weights can be connected to the piston in a replaceable manner, and the piston lifts the gripping portion upward against the weight, and the stroke on the retracting side The initial position is the state positioned at the end, and the control means sets the reference air pressure determined in advance according to the weight of the gripper to the air pressure necessary to generate a predetermined pressing force regardless of the weight of the gripper. The air pressure obtained by adding the pressure is determined as the air pressure to be supplied to the pressing means, and during the pressing operation, the pressure control means is controlled so that the air pressure is supplied to the pressing means, and the piston is moved downward from the initial position. The movement is started.
In this way, by performing the air pressure control using the reference air pressure according to the weight of the gripping part, it is always possible to contact even when the gripping part is replaced according to the type of IC device to be inspected. It is possible to obtain a pressing device that can prevent overshoot at the time.
Further, the pressing device according to the present invention includes detection means for detecting that the piston has lowered a predetermined stroke amount from the initial position, and the control means controls the pressure control means as an initial setting operation prior to the pressing operation. The air is supplied to the pressing means while gradually raising the air pressure, and the air pressure when the piston starts to descend from the initial position by the air supply and is detected by the detecting means depends on the weight of the gripping part. The operation for obtaining the reference air pressure is performed in advance.
In this way, the reference air pressure can be obtained.
Further, the pressing device according to the present invention includes storage means for storing the reference air pressure in advance for each gripping part connected to the piston so as to be exchangeable, and the control means applies the piston to the piston during the pressing operation. The reference air pressure corresponding to the connected gripping portion is read from the storage means and used when determining the air pressure to be supplied to the pressing means.
As described above, the reference air pressure may be stored in advance in the storage unit for each gripping portion, and the air pressure to be supplied to the pressing unit may be determined based on the reference air pressure in the storage unit.
In the pressing device according to the present invention, the control unit includes an abnormality detection unit that detects an abnormality based on a detection result of the detection unit.
Thus, an abnormality can be detected using the detection result of the detection means.
Further, the pressing device according to the present invention is used by positioning the IC device held by the holding unit so that the IC device held by the holding unit comes into contact with the inspection socket at the timing when detection is performed. The means detects an abnormality when the detection means does not detect after the air supply to the pressing means is started.
For example, foreign matter is mixed between the IC device and the inspection socket, IC devices other than those to be inspected remain in the inspection socket, or the IC device is held twice with the gripping portion. In this case, the piston that has started descending due to the air supply stops at a position that is higher than the normal stop position by the height of the foreign object or the IC device held excessively. The pressing device is positioned so that detection is performed by the detection means when the piston is lowered to the normal stop position, so that detection is not performed by the detection means after the supply of air to the pressing means is started. If it is, it can be detected as abnormal. In this way, the detection result of the detection means can be used to detect abnormalities such as foreign matter contamination and double holding of the IC device. The detection position by the detection means can be adjusted to an optimum position depending on the size of the foreign matter to be detected and the thickness of the IC device.
In the pressing device according to the present invention, the pressing means is any one of an air cylinder, a diaphragm, and a bellows.
In the pressing device according to the present invention, the detection means is a proximity sensor or a photoelectric sensor.
In the pressing device according to the present invention, the pressure control means is an electropneumatic regulator.
Further, an IC handler according to the present invention includes any one of the above-described pressing devices, a driving unit for moving the entire pressing device up and down, and an initial state detecting unit that detects that the piston is located at the initial position. The pressing device is configured to enter the pressing operation after being lowered by the driving unit to a predetermined height position inputted by the operator via the input unit and stopped, and the abnormality detecting unit is configured to press in the pressing operation. After the supply of air to the means is started, if the detection by the initial state detection means is continued without the piston starting to descend from the initial position, an abnormality is detected.
If the operation is normally performed, after the pressing device descends to a predetermined height position and stops, when the air supply to the pressing means is started, the piston descends from the initial position and the initial state detecting means Although it should not be detected, for example, when the operator mistakenly sets the input operation at the predetermined height position too low, the entire pressing device is lowered more than necessary and the piston is pressed against the stroke end of the pull-in side It becomes. In this case, even if the air supply to the pressing means is started, the piston cannot be lowered, and the detection by the initial state detecting means is continued. Therefore, when the detection by the initial state detection unit is continued without starting the descent of the piston from the initial position after the supply of air to the pressing unit is started, it can be detected as abnormal. As described above, it is possible to detect an operation abnormality due to an input error at a predetermined height position using the detection result of the initial state detection means.

Here, the

When a pressing force F (different for each type of IC device 13) is input on the operation screen and there is a pressing operation start instruction such as pressing the start button (S1), the control means 55 starts an initial setting operation. In the initial setting operation, first, the control means 55 controls the
After this initial setting operation, the pressing operation is started. That is, first, the control means 55 removes air from the
Here, supply of the air pressure determined in step S5 is started, and when the
The
FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the result of measuring the pressing force applied to the IC device from the start of air supply to the air cylinder until it is pressed with a predetermined pressing force F. The horizontal axis represents the time axis, The measured value of the pressing force applied to the
As is apparent from FIG. 5, no impact is generated when the
As described above, according to the first embodiment, the
Further, since the air pressure control using the reference air pressure corresponding to the weight of the
In this example, when a pressing operation start instruction is given, an initial setting operation is performed prior to the pressing operation to obtain a reference air pressure. For each
In this example, in the initial setting operation, the

FIG. 6 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of the pressing device according to the second embodiment. The
Here, the
This abnormality detection will be specifically described. During the pressing operation, the
When an abnormality is detected by the
As described above, according to the second embodiment, the same operational effects as those of the first embodiment can be obtained, and foreign matter contamination between the
Note that the
In addition, the abnormality detection based on the ON / OFF signal of the
In the IC handler 4 configured as described above, if the operation is normally performed, after the
In each of the above embodiments, the
In the
Further, in this example, the example in which the detection unit is configured by the
In this example, the weight of the
In this example, the single-acting
