Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an X-ray tube that generates X-rays by accelerating electrons emitted from a cathode at a high voltage, and more particularly to a cathode structure that improves an electron density distribution that collides with a target.

The rotating anode X-ray tube is housed in a tube container filled with insulating oil. During operation, from the cable receptacles provided on both sides of the cylinder of the tube container, from the high voltage power supply 7 and the filament power supply 28 provided outside, Negative high voltage and filament current are supplied to the cathode 22 side, and positive high voltage is supplied to the

In recent years, research using carbon nanotubes (CNT) as a field emission electron source has been conducted on the cathode using the above-described direct
FIG. 6 shows a cross-sectional structure of a tube used for the study of “ultra-high luminance light source tube using carbon nanotubes (CNT) as an electron source”. A lead wire on the cathode side is introduced into the glass plate 37 and the glass bulb 35 through the insulating plug 31, the inside is evacuated, the CNT cathode 32 and the control grid 33 are provided in the vicinity thereof, and the shield electrode 34 is provided outside thereof. Are provided to form a cathode (cathode). An upper portion of the glass plate 37 is coated with a phosphor 36a, and an aluminum film (anode) 36 to which a positive high voltage is applied is deposited on the lower surface thereof. The entire valve is cooled by the coolant 38, and the X-ray shield valve 39 is covered outside.
When 30 kV is applied to the aluminum film (anode) 36 and a high voltage is applied from the CNT cathode 32, the emitted electrons collide with the residual gas in the tube to ionize the ionized residual gas. A part of this collides with the CNT cathode 32. As a CNT material that is stable against such ion collision, a multilayer CNT having a larger number of cylindrical graphene layers (one carbon layer in which carbon atoms form a planar six-membered ring network by covalent bonds) Is used. High current density is obtained, and resistance to ion bombardment is high. In order to emit electrons at a lower voltage, the diameter of the CNT is thin, that is, the diameter of the cylindrical graphene layer is thin and the number of cylindrical graphene layers is small. The most CNT material is used.
In an example of the experimental results, the distance between the control grid 33 and the CNT cathode 32 is about 0.8 mm, the grid voltage is 2.8 kV, the anode voltage is 30 kV, and a current density of about 35 mA / cm 2 is obtained, of which about 70% is the anode current. (For example, refer nonpatent literature 1).
A SWNT 44 of carbon nanotubes is formed on a substrate 43 inside an insulated tube, and a cathode in which an electrode of a mesh 45 is disposed in close proximity thereto, and a copper anode of a copper target at the other end facing the cathode. 46 is attached and the inside is evacuated to 10 −7 Torr. The negative side of the suppression resistor 42 (150 kΩ), the ammeter, and the power source 41 (0 to 2.5 kV) is connected to an external circuit of the substrate 43 on the cathode side. The electrode for forming an electric field of the mesh 45 is grounded, and the copper anode 46 on the anode side is connected to a power source 48 (0 to 60 kV). Most of the electrons emitted from the cathode collide with the copper anode 46, and the X-ray intensity is detected by the X-ray detection system 47 from the
The SWNT 44 is a bundle of single-walled nanotubes (SWNT) in which the number of graphene layers (one carbon layer in which carbon atoms form a six-membered ring network having a planar structure by covalent bonding) is one. It is a thing. The SWNT 44 has an average diameter of 1.4 nm, a bundle diameter of ˜50 nm, an iron intermediate layer provided on the substrate 43, and formed on the flat surface by vapor deposition. The distance between the mesh 45 and the SWNT 44 is 50 to 200 μm, 0 to −2.5 kV is applied to the
Although the conventional X-ray tube is configured as described above, in a medical diagnostic image, the smaller the focal size of the X-ray tube, the less the geometric blur and the higher the resolving power (MTF). At any load, the clearer the image, the smaller the focal point. However, the smaller the focal point, the higher the energy density on the target surface and the higher the temperature. Therefore, an allowable range is provided for the load so as not to thermally destroy the X-ray tube. In the case of a short time load (general imaging) of several ms to several s, the allowable load is determined by the focal plane temperature. On the other hand, in the case of a long-time load (perspective) of several tens to several hundred seconds, the input surface is small, and the temperature of the focal plane is not a problem. In this case, since the load time is long, heat energy is accumulated in the anode, and the temperature of the whole anode rises.
On the target surface, as shown in FIG. 5A, the electron density distribution in the focal width direction (anode rotation direction) is bimodal and is effectively larger than the focal point of the uniform electron density distribution. There is a problem that the resolving power (MTF) decreases. In a distribution with a higher electron density toward the center, for example, an electron density distribution such as a Gaussian distribution, the resolving power (MTF) is improved.
The short-time rating of the focal point is determined by the focal temperature, which also depends on the electron density distribution, and there is a problem that the bimodal distribution is unfavorable in terms of heat because the focal temperature increases.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and has an X-ray tube having a cathode structure that can reduce the focal temperature to a specified value or less and have a narrow distribution in which the electron density distribution on the focal plane increases toward the center. The purpose is to provide.
In order to achieve the above object, an X-ray tube of the present invention includes a cathode that emits electrons, a gate electrode that is disposed in front of the cathode and that is supplied with a positive potential to the cathode and causes electrons to be emitted from the cathode. In the X-ray tube comprising an anode that emits X-rays from the focal point by accelerating the emitted electrons by a DC high voltage and colliding with a target, the carbon electrode having a convex shape in one direction on the cathode and the gate electrode A flat mesh electrode is provided, and the distance between the carbon nanotube and the mesh electrode is changed in one direction.
In addition, the X-ray tube of the present invention includes a cathode that emits electrons, a gate electrode that is disposed in front of the cathode and that is supplied with a positive potential to the cathode and causes the electrons to be emitted from the cathode, and the emitted electrons. An electrode is provided, and the distance between the carbon nanotube and the mesh electrode is changed in one direction.
In addition, the X-ray tube of the present invention includes a cathode that emits electrons, a gate electrode that is disposed in front of the cathode and is supplied with a positive potential to the cathode, and causes electrons to be emitted from the cathode, and the emitted electrons. In an X-ray tube composed of an anode that is accelerated by a direct current high voltage and collides with a target to emit X-rays from a focal point, the cathode is shaped like a carbon nanotube inclined from the end face, and the gate electrode has a flat mesh shape An electrode is provided so that the distance between the carbon nanotube and the mesh electrode is the shortest at the cathode end face portion.
In addition, the X-ray tube of the present invention includes a cathode that emits electrons, a gate electrode that is disposed in front of the cathode and that is supplied with a positive potential to the cathode and causes the electrons to be emitted from the cathode, and the emitted electrons. In an X-ray tube composed of an anode that is accelerated by a direct current high voltage and collides with a target to emit X-rays from a focal point, the cathode is flat with carbon nanotubes and one end of the gate electrode is inclined with respect to the cathode surface A mesh-shaped electrode having a shape is provided, and the distance between the carbon nanotube and the mesh-shaped electrode is made shortest at the cathode end face portion.
The X-ray tube of the present invention is configured as described above, and uses a field emission type carbon nanotube (CNT) as a cathode, and a mesh-like gate electrode in which a positive potential is supplied to the cathode in front of the cathode. The carbon nanotubes (CNT) are arranged in a convex shape or flat shape in one direction, and the gate electrode is formed in a flat shape or concave shape in one direction so as to face each other. Let In addition, the shape of the carbon nanotube (CNT) is inclined from the end face or flat, and the gate electrode is opposed to the flat shape or inclined from the end face. In addition, the proximity distance between the CNT cathode and the gate electrode is not made constant in the entire range, but the electric field strength is uniformly changed according to the position to change the emitted electron density.
The X-ray tube of the present invention is configured as described above, and is not based on a conventional method of heating a filament, but uses a field emission type carbon nanotube (CNT) as a cathode, thereby reducing power consumption. Rather than a complicated coil shape like a filament, the electron emission surface can be formed into a flat surface or a gently curved surface, and by changing the distance between the cathode of the carbon nanotube (CNT) and the gate electrode disposed in the vicinity thereof, By changing the electric field strength depending on the position and changing the emitted electron density, the electron emission at the central part is increased by approaching only the central part of the CNT cathode, thereby increasing the electron density distribution impinging on the anode surface toward the center at the focal point. A narrow distribution can be obtained. Further, the electron density can be changed depending on the location, and the electron distribution at the focal point can be changed to a desired distribution. In this way, by making the electron density distribution in the focal point a distribution having a strong central portion, a focal point with excellent resolving power can be obtained. By setting the distribution to be favorable in terms of thermal design, it is possible to obtain a focal point with a large rating even with the same focal size.
The X-ray tube of the present invention uses carbon nanotubes (CNT) as a cathode, changes the distance between adjacent gate electrodes depending on the location, improves the electron density distribution in the focal point of the target surface, and improves the resolution and thermal rating. Realized X-ray tube.
