第１または第２もしくは両方のレーザ光源から出射された光ビームが少なくとも３本の光ビームに分岐されて、第１または第２の光学的情報記録媒体に照射され、前記光学的情報記録媒体で反射された光ビームを検出する光検出器において、
前記第１の光学的情報記録媒体で反射された光ビームが照射される受光領域が４分割され、４つの受光面を有する第１の受光領域と、
前記第２の光学的情報記録媒体で反射された光ビームが照射される受光領域が４分割され、４つの受光面を有する第２の受光領域と、
前記第１の光学的情報記録媒体で反射された光ビームが照射される受光領域が各々２分割され、各々２つの受光面を有する第３及び第４の受光領域とを備え、
前記第１または前記第２もしくは両方の受光領域から非点収差方式によるフォーカスエラー信号を生成出来る信号を出力し、
または、前記第１または第２もしくは両方の受光領域から各々独立にプッシュプル方式によるトラッキングエラー信号を生成出来る信号を出力し、
または、前記第１または第２もしくは両方の受光領域からディファレンシャルフェーズディテクション方式によるトラッキングエラー信号を生成出来る信号を出力し、
