Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a terahertz light measuring apparatus using terahertz light.
A terahertz light measuring device irradiates a sample with pulse light in a frequency range of approximately 0.01 × 10 12 to 100 × 10 12 hertz and detects transmitted light transmitted through the sample or reflected light reflected from the sample. This is a device for measuring the electrical characteristics and component concentration of a sample. Conventionally, a transmission measuring device for irradiating a target with terahertz pulsed light, detecting transmitted light transmitted through the target, and measuring the complex refractive index and complex permittivity of the target, and terahertz pulsed light on the target A reflection measuring device that irradiates and detects reflected light reflected from an object and measures the complex refractive index and complex dielectric constant of the object is provided as a separate and independent device (for example, Patent Document 1). reference).
In the measurement using terahertz light, the transmission measurement of the sample may be effective or the reflection measurement may be effective depending on the purpose of the measurement. Further, there are cases where both transmission measurement and reflection measurement are required for observing the properties of the same sample and measuring physical properties. However, the conventional terahertz light measurement apparatus supports only one of transmission measurement and reflection measurement, and one apparatus does not support both transmission measurement and reflection measurement. Therefore, when both transmission measurement and reflection measurement are performed, it is necessary to prepare one device for each, and there is a problem that the cost of the device is increased and the installation area is increased.

(4) In the above terahertz light measuring apparatus, an optical element that collimates or condenses light from the terahertz light source can be provided between the terahertz light source and the wire grid.
According to the present invention, since both transmission measurement and reflection measurement can be performed with one apparatus, the apparatus cost can be reduced and the installation area of the apparatus can be reduced.

Hereinafter, a terahertz light measuring apparatus according to the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
<First Embodiment>
FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of a terahertz light measuring apparatus according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
In FIG. 1, a terahertz
For example, a femtosecond pulse laser is used as the
FIG. 2A is a perspective view schematically showing the structure of the
As shown in FIG. 2A, when the pulsed light L2 irradiates the region B with the bias voltage Vb applied to the
A polarization direction of the terahertz pulse light T1 will be described with reference to FIGS. In the cross section of the light beam of the terahertz pulse light T1, in the drawing, the horizontal direction is the polarization direction of s-polarized light, and the vertical direction is the polarization direction of p-polarized light. When the antenna pattern is arranged in the state of FIG. 2B, since the B1 direction of the region B functioning as an antenna is parallel to the polarization direction of the s-polarized light, the s-polarized terahertz pulse light T1 is emitted. When the
FIG. 3 is a perspective view schematically showing the structure and function of the
FIG. 4 is a perspective view schematically showing the structure of the transmitted
As shown in FIG. 4A, the terahertz pulsed light T4 is incident on the transmitted
The detection of the terahertz pulsed light T4 having a polarization component will be described with reference to FIGS. 4 (b) and 4 (c). In the cross section of the light beam of the terahertz pulse light T4, in the drawing, the horizontal direction is the polarization direction of s-polarized light, and the vertical direction is the polarization direction of p-polarized light. When the antenna pattern is arranged in the state of FIG. 4B, the C1 direction of the region C functioning as an antenna is parallel to the polarization direction of the s-polarized light, so that the s-polarized terahertz pulse light T4 can be detected. When the transmitted
With reference to FIG. 1 again, the optical path of the terahertz
The terahertz pulsed light T1 is light included in a frequency region of 0.01 × 10 12 to 100 × 10 12 hertz (0.01 THz to 100 THz), and a polarization component along the direction of the antenna of the
In FIG. 1, a curved mirror that collects the terahertz pulsed light T1 so as to be parallel light is used as the

The terahertz pulsed light T1 is switched to the optical path in one of the two directions of the direction of the transmission measurement sample S1, the direction of the reflection measurement sample S2, and the transmission measurement sample S1 and the reflection measurement sample S2, depending on the direction of the wire of the
The terahertz pulse light T2 traveling in the direction of the transmission measurement sample S1 is incident on the transmission measurement sample S1 as parallel light through the reflecting mirror 6. The terahertz pulsed light T4 transmitted through the transmission measurement sample S1 is light including physical property information of the transmission measurement sample S1, and reaches the transmitted
When the terahertz pulse light T4 is incident on the transmitted
The other pulsed light L3 divided by the
By moving the movable mirror 9 in the A direction by a drive mechanism (not shown), the optical path length of the pulsed light L3 can be changed according to the amount of movement of the movable mirror 9. As a result, the time for the pulsed light L5 to reach the transmitted
The terahertz pulse light T3 whose optical path is switched by the
Further, the terahertz pulse light T1 is divided by the
Hereinafter, the operation of the
In the state R1, since the wires of the
In the state R3, since the wires of the
In the state R2, the wire of the
In addition, a selection mechanism is provided for selecting the direction of the antenna around the optical axis AX3 when the transmission measurement and the reflection measurement are performed simultaneously and when the transmission measurement or the reflection measurement is performed separately. By arranging in a larger direction, more efficient measurement can be performed.
In the present embodiment, three measurements of transmission measurement, reflection measurement, and transmission reflection measurement can be performed by one apparatus by rotating the
<Second Embodiment>
FIG. 5 is a schematic configuration diagram of a terahertz light measuring apparatus according to the second embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 5, the same components and optical paths as those in FIG. 1 of the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and different points will be mainly described.
The terahertz
The
In the state R5, the wire of the
On the other hand, the terahertz pulse light T8 having a polarization component perpendicular to the wire is reflected by the reflection measurement sample S2 through the
The relationship between the direction of the wires of the
Also in this embodiment, there is provided a selection mechanism for selecting the direction of the antenna around the optical axis AX3 in the case of performing only transmission measurement and the case of performing simultaneous measurement of transmission and reflection. By arranging in the direction of high sensitivity, more efficient measurement can be performed.
In the present embodiment, two measurements of transmission measurement and transmission reflection measurement can be performed by one apparatus by rotating the
(Third embodiment)
In the first and second embodiments described above, the example of rotating and arranging the
The semiconductor wafer has an action of dividing the terahertz light incident on the semiconductor wafer into light reflected by the semiconductor wafer and transmitted light regardless of the polarization direction. By introducing one of the divided terahertz lights to the transmission measurement sample and the other to the reflection measurement sample, reflection measurement and transmission measurement can be performed simultaneously using one terahertz light source. In addition, by arranging a mirror in place of the semiconductor wafer or nothing, it is possible to selectively guide all of the terahertz light to either a transmission measurement sample or a reflection measurement sample. Only one of them can be done.
Hereinafter, a description will be given with reference to FIG. In the configuration of FIG. 1, when a semiconductor wafer is arranged instead of the
In the present embodiment, as the optical path switching means, for example, a holder in which three windows, a window for arranging a semiconductor wafer, a window for arranging a mirror, and a transparent window, are arranged on a plane is used. These three windows are selectively inserted into the optical path of the terahertz pulse light T1 according to the desired measurement.
