Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a medium conveying apparatus that conveys a medium to which a discharge liquid is adhered while conveying the medium, a recording apparatus including the medium conveying apparatus, and a liquid ejecting apparatus.
An ink jet printer that is one of the recording apparatuses includes a paper transport roller that transports a paper that is a recording medium, a paper transport device that has a platen that supports the surface by sucking the paper transported by the paper transport roller, and the like. A recording head for ejecting ink particles, a carriage on which the recording head is mounted and reciprocatingly moved in the direction perpendicular to the sheet conveyance are provided. The paper feed roller is disposed on the upstream side of the sheet conveyance with respect to the platen, and the recording head mounted on the carriage is disposed above the sheet conveyance surface of the platen with a predetermined gap. In an ink jet printer capable of so-called borderless recording, in which recording is performed without causing a margin on the paper, the ink that has been removed from the side edge of the paper at the position of the platen corresponding to the side edge of the paper to be conveyed An ink recovery unit that sucks and recovers the particles is formed. In such a configuration, the ink jet printer rotates the paper feed roller to convey and suck the sheet onto the sheet conveying surface of the platen, and causes the carriage to reciprocate to eject ink particles from the nozzles of the recording head. Thus, recording is performed on a sheet.
In recent years, in order to achieve further improvements in image quality, especially to achieve higher-quality photographic images, the minimization of ink particles has progressed. However, when such fine ink particles deviate from the side edge of the paper. There is a risk that the ink will not fall straight into the ink collecting section and float. In some cases, the paper becomes contaminated with ink mist or adheres to the nozzles of the recording head, thereby reducing the recording quality. Furthermore, the durability of the bearing portion may be reduced by adhering to an apparatus drive system, for example, the bearing portion. In view of this, an ink jet printer has been proposed in which a rectifying mechanism is provided in the ink recovery unit so that fine ink particles can be dropped straight into the ink recovery unit.
In the above-described conventional ink jet printer, since the ink recovery unit communicates directly with the negative pressure generating means, the flow velocity during suction on the back surface of the paper increases. For this reason, there are cases where not only ink particles deviated from the side edge of the paper but also ink particles necessary for recording may be sucked, and recording accuracy may deteriorate. Also, if borderless recording can be performed on paper of various sizes, the ink collection unit has a continuously arranged layout. Therefore, when recording on paper of a size that covers the ink collection unit, the paper It may be difficult to aspirate. In this case, after recording, when the so-called cock ring swells in the direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction of the paper and swells to the recording head side, the gap between the recording surface of the paper and the nozzle formation surface of the recording head becomes non-uniform, There is a problem that unevenness of recording occurs due to variation in the flying distance of the ink particles, or the paper comes into contact with the recording head and becomes dirty. Further, since the roll-shaped paper with strong curl is lifted, the same problem occurs.
The present invention has been made in view of the various problems as described above, and an object of the present invention is to provide a medium transport apparatus having an opening that can reliably suck a medium without impeding the flight of the discharge liquid, and An object of the present invention is to provide a recording apparatus and a liquid ejecting apparatus provided with the medium conveying apparatus.
In order to achieve the above object, the medium conveying apparatus of the present invention is a medium conveying apparatus that conveys a medium to which a discharge liquid is adhered while sucking the medium in communication with a pressure chamber and the medium. A medium conveying part formed with an opening for sucking the medium in communication with the pressure chamber or sucking the discharged liquid removed from the side edge of the medium; and the opening is formed on the pressure chamber side. It is characterized by being formed in a shape that becomes constant after the opening area gradually decreases. The opening is characterized in that a funnel-like member is attached to the pressure chamber side. The opening is formed in a shape in which the opening area gradually decreases toward the pressure chamber, and a tubular member is attached to the tip. As a result, since the flow velocity at the time of suction on the conveyance surface side of the medium in the opening can be reduced, only unnecessary discharge liquid can be sucked without hindering flight of the discharge liquid. Further, since the flow rate can be gradually reduced, the air flow becomes smooth and does not peel off, so that a uniform flow rate can be achieved on the conveying surface side. Furthermore, since the flow path resistance at the time of suction on the pressure chamber side in the opening can be increased, even a medium having a size covering the opening can be sucked, and the conveying posture can be stabilized. it can.
Further, the opening is characterized in that an absorbing member that absorbs the discharged liquid is attached to the transport surface side of the medium. As a result, the flow path resistance at the time of suction on the pressure chamber side in the opening can be further increased, and unnecessary discharge liquid can be reliably captured. Further, the opening is provided with a recovery member for recovering the discharge liquid on the pressure chamber side. Thereby, it is possible to prevent unnecessary discharge liquid from being scattered and to be discarded.
A plurality of ribs extending in the transport direction of the medium with a predetermined interval in the transport orthogonal direction of the transport surface of the medium, and forming the suction holes on the upper surface of the ribs and the bottom surface between the ribs; The opening is formed at a side position of the rib across the side edge of the medium. Thereby, since the formation pitch of each rib can be formed in accordance with the pitch of the cock ring generated in the medium, the medium can be substantially along the recess and the opening between each rib and each rib, Since the entire surface of the medium can be adsorbed, the medium can be transported without being lifted. In addition, the rib formed at the side position of the opening is formed to be lower than the height of other ribs. As a result, the side edge of the medium that is relatively easy to lift can be pulled downward, and therefore, lifting due to lifting from the side edge of the medium can be prevented.
In order to achieve the above object, the recording apparatus of the present invention is a recording apparatus for recording by ejecting ink particles onto a recording medium, and is characterized by including the above-mentioned medium transport devices. In order to achieve the above object, the liquid ejecting apparatus of the present invention is a liquid ejecting apparatus that ejects a liquid onto a medium to be ejected, and is characterized by including each of the medium conveying apparatuses. Thereby, a recording apparatus or a liquid ejecting apparatus that exhibits the above-described effects can be provided.

Further, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the printer
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the
As shown in FIG. 3, the roll
That is, bearings (not shown) are provided on opposite sides of the
As shown in FIG. 4, the paper supply /

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, the
The
Further, a cutter groove 151 a extending in the main scanning direction is formed on the surface of the
The
The

As shown in FIG. 4, the
As shown in FIG. 4, the
Here, the
Therefore, the

FIG. 5A is a plan view showing a
As shown in FIGS. 5B and 6, the
When the side edge of the sheet is positioned at the
An absorbing
The
A
In addition, the conveyance direction of the
Suction holes 55 and 56 communicating with the
According to the
Subsequently, the sheet is sucked into the suction hole 55 on the
In the embodiment described above, the
Further, since the conveyed paper is first sucked into the suction holes 56 of the
As described above, according to the
In addition, since the
