Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an inkjet recording head, an inkjet recording apparatus, and a method for manufacturing an inkjet recording head.
An ink jet recording apparatus reciprocates an ink jet recording head in the main scanning direction, conveys the recording paper in the sub scanning direction, and selectively ejects ink droplets from a plurality of nozzles to print characters and images on the recording paper. Record. A method for ejecting ink droplets from a nozzle communicating with a pressure chamber is known for an ink jet recording head by pressurizing a pressure chamber via a diaphragm using a piezoelectric element.
In recent years, there has been an increasing trend toward higher speed in ink jet recording apparatuses. For this reason, an inkjet recording head that can form an image in a wider area in a shorter time is produced by increasing the length of the inkjet recording head and increasing the number of nozzles per inkjet recording head. (For example, refer to Patent Document 1).
As the inkjet recording head is lengthened and the number of nozzles is increased, a large number of piezoelectric elements are required accordingly. The piezoelectric elements that can be individually driven are formed by processing a single piezoelectric plate (piezoelectric material such as a piezoelectric ceramic plate before the piezoelectric element is formed), for example, sandblasting, so that the large number of piezoelectric elements are formed. . Therefore, with the increase in the length of the inkjet recording head, the piezoelectric plate to be processed becomes longer (larger).
Further, when the number of nozzles is increased and the nozzle density is increased, the pressure chamber becomes smaller, and when the pressure chamber becomes smaller, the distance between the fulcrums becomes shorter, so that the amount of deformation of the diaphragm is reduced.
The amount of displacement of the vibration plate is inversely proportional to the cube of the thickness of the actuator (vibration plate + piezoelectric element). Therefore, it is necessary to improve the reduction in the amount of flexure displacement of the diaphragm due to the pressure chambers becoming smaller as the nozzle density increases, by making the actuator (diaphragm + piezoelectric element) thinner.
For these reasons, the piezoelectric plate is required to be thin and have a large shape.
For this reason, a large and thickly baked piezoelectric plate is thinned by lapping or the like, and then electrodes are formed by sputtering.
However, the method of thinning a thickly baked piezoelectric plate by lapping or the like requires extra piezoelectric material and increases the material cost because it is cut by lapping. Moreover, since the shaved piezoelectric material is discarded, there is an environmental problem.
Furthermore, since the piezoelectric plate is a sintered body, a thin and large shape is easily damaged and is difficult to handle in the manufacturing process. Therefore, it causes a decrease in yield and an increase in cost.
In addition, as a method of thinly manufacturing a piezoelectric plate (piezoelectric element), a method of forming a piezoelectric element by printing on a diaphragm, a method of spin coating using sol-gel, a method of sputtering, and a gas jet deposition method have been proposed. . (For example, refer to
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and has an object to provide a thin piezoelectric plate that allows an inkjet recording head to be elongated with a small piezoelectric plate and is easy to handle at low cost. To do.
The ink jet recording head according to claim 1, wherein one fired piezoelectric plate or a piezoelectric element formed by dividing a plurality of piezoelectric plates and joining a plurality of piezoelectric plates is divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements. A plurality of pressure chambers filled with ink, and an ink jet recording head for ejecting ink droplets from a nozzle communicating with the pressure chambers onto a recording medium, wherein the piezoelectric element group includes the recording element Two or more rows are arranged in the direction in which the medium is transported or perpendicular to the transport direction.
The ink jet recording head according to claim 1, wherein the piezoelectric element is formed by dividing one fired piezoelectric plate or a laminated piezoelectric plate obtained by laminating and joining a plurality of piezoelectric plates into a plurality of piezoelectric elements. Two or more groups are arranged side by side in the transport direction of the recording medium or in a direction orthogonal to the transport direction. For this reason, one piezoelectric plate or a laminated piezoelectric plate can be made small.
Therefore, even if the piezoelectric plate is thinly baked, one piezoelectric plate is small and is not easily damaged. For this reason, since the handling in a manufacturing process is easy, a yield improves. Therefore, the length of the inkjet recording head is increased at low cost.
In addition, when a laminated piezoelectric plate made by laminating and joining multiple piezoelectric plates is divided into each piezoelectric element and each pressure chamber is pressurized or depressurized, even a small thin piezoelectric plate can be driven at a low voltage by laminating. And bends and deforms efficiently.
The ink jet recording head according to
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided an inkjet recording head comprising: a single baked piezoelectric plate that can be individually driven for each pressure chamber; or a laminated piezoelectric plate that can be individually driven for each pressure chamber. Two or more rows are arranged side by side in the transport direction or in a direction orthogonal to the transport direction. For this reason, since one piezoelectric plate or laminated piezoelectric plate can be reduced in size, the same effect as in the first aspect can be obtained.
Furthermore, since the piezoelectric plate or the laminated piezoelectric plate can be individually driven for each pressure chamber, it is not necessary to divide into a plurality of piezoelectric elements. For this reason, a manufacturing process is simplified and it can manufacture at lower cost.
In addition, since it is not divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements, it is preferable that there is no occurrence of breakage due to the influence of processing stress applied to the piezoelectric plate or the laminated piezoelectric plate.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided the ink jet recording head according to the second aspect, wherein the piezoelectric plate or the laminated piezoelectric plate can be individually driven for each pressure chamber by an electrode pattern formed on the piezoelectric plate. It is characterized by becoming.
In the ink jet recording head according to claim 3, the piezoelectric plate or the laminated piezoelectric plate can be individually driven for each pressure chamber by an electrode pattern formed on the piezoelectric plate. Play.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, there is provided the inkjet recording head according to any one of the first to third aspects, wherein the number of nozzle plates on which the nozzles are formed is set to the piezoelectric plate, the laminated piezoelectric plate, or the The feature is that the number is smaller than the number of piezoelectric element groups.
In the ink jet recording head according to the fourth aspect, since the number of nozzle plates is smaller than the number of piezoelectric plates, laminated piezoelectric plates, or piezoelectric element groups, the alignment process between the nozzle plates is reduced.
An ink jet recording head according to a fifth aspect is characterized in that, in the structure according to any one of the first to fourth aspects, the thickness of the piezoelectric plate is not adjusted after firing.
The ink jet recording head according to claim 5 uses a piezoelectric plate whose thickness is not adjusted after firing. Therefore, since a manufacturing process for adjusting the thickness is not required, it can be manufactured at a lower cost.
Furthermore, compared with a method of thinning a thickly baked piezoelectric plate by lapping or the like, there is no extra piezoelectric material to be cut by lapping or the like, and the material cost is low. In addition, since there is no piezoelectric material to scrape and discard, it also addresses environmental issues.
Note that the piezoelectric plate can be used without adjusting the thickness after firing in this manner because the piezoelectric element group, the piezoelectric plate, or the laminated piezoelectric plate is arranged in two or more rows in the recording medium conveyance direction or a direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction. This is because the piezoelectric recording heads are elongated by arranging them side by side, so that one piezoelectric plate can be made smaller, that is, a piezoelectric plate of a small size that can be thinned can be used as it is.
According to a sixth aspect of the invention, in the configuration of the fifth aspect, the piezoelectric plate has a thickness of 10 μm to 75 μm.
In the ink jet recording head according to the sixth aspect, the thickness of the piezoelectric plate is 10 μm to 75 μm.
If it is 10 μm or less, it is easy to break and difficult to handle. Furthermore, it is easily affected by pinholes, which causes a decrease in yield due to short circuit or dielectric breakdown.
Moreover, since it is hard to bend and deform | transform when it is 75 micrometers or more, it is necessary to cut thinly.
Therefore, 10 μm to 75 μm is suitable as a thickness that does not adjust the thickness after firing.
An ink jet recording head according to a seventh aspect of the present invention is configured so that D ≦ 500 t when the thickness of the piezoelectric plate is t and the maximum length is D in the configuration according to the fifth or sixth aspect. It is characterized by.
In the ink jet recording head according to the seventh aspect, D ≦ 500 t, where t is the thickness of the piezoelectric plate and D is the maximum length.
When D> 500 t, the thickness is too thin with respect to the size (maximum length), making it difficult to handle. Moreover, it is difficult to fire the piezoelectric plate.
Therefore, it is preferable that the relationship between the thickness t after firing and the maximum length D is D ≦ 500 t.
An ink jet recording head according to an eighth aspect is characterized in that, in the configuration according to any one of the fifth to seventh aspects, the electrodes of the piezoelectric plate are formed simultaneously with the firing of the piezoelectric plate.
In the ink jet recording head according to the eighth aspect, the electrodes are formed simultaneously with the firing of the piezoelectric plate. Therefore, the process for forming the electrode is not required separately, and can be manufactured at a lower cost.
The reason why the electrodes can be formed at the same time as the piezoelectric plate is fired is that a piezoelectric plate whose thickness is not adjusted after firing is used.
An ink jet recording head according to a ninth aspect is characterized in that, in the structure according to any one of the first to seventh aspects, the electrodes of the piezoelectric plate are formed after the piezoelectric plate is baked.
In the ink jet recording head according to the ninth aspect, the electrodes are formed after the piezoelectric plate is baked. For this reason, an electrode can be formed at a temperature lower than the firing temperature of the piezoelectric plate. Therefore, the range of selection of materials used for the electrodes is wide.
An ink jet recording apparatus according to a tenth aspect includes the ink jet recording head according to any one of the first to ninth aspects.
Since the ink jet recording apparatus according to the tenth aspect includes the ink jet recording head according to any one of the first to ninth aspects, the image can be formed at a low cost and at a high speed.
12. The method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to claim 11, wherein a plurality of pressure chambers filled with ink are pressurized and depressurized by each piezoelectric element for each pressure chamber, and ink is applied to the recording medium from nozzles communicating with the pressure chambers. A method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head for ejecting droplets, comprising: a first step of manufacturing a piezoelectric plate having a size that can be made thin from a raw material; a second step of forming an electrode on the piezoelectric plate; A third step of cutting into a size, a fourth step of arranging the cut piezoelectric plates in two or more rows in the vertical and horizontal directions so as to be peelable to the intermediate holding member, and the piezoelectric plates bonded to the intermediate holding member, The fifth step of dividing the piezoelectric element into a plurality of the piezoelectric elements corresponding to the pressure chambers and the divided piezoelectric elements are joined to the flow path plate in which the pressure chambers are formed. The diaphragm, and the sixth step of bonding so as to correspond to the pressure chambers, and a seventh step of removing the intermediate holding member, characterized in that it has a.
12. The method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to claim 11, wherein the piezoelectric plates are arranged in two or more rows in the vertical and horizontal directions and detachably joined to the intermediate holding member, divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements, and joined to the flow path plate. To join. For this reason, one piezoelectric plate can be made small.
Therefore, since a thin piezoelectric plate whose thickness is not adjusted after firing, that is, a piezoelectric plate having a size that can be thinned can be used as it is, a manufacturing process for adjusting the thickness is not necessary. Further, even a thin piezoelectric plate is easy to handle in the manufacturing process because one is small. Furthermore, since there is no extra piezoelectric material to be cut by lapping or the like, the material cost is low, and since there is no piezoelectric material to be scraped and discarded, environmental problems are also addressed.
In addition, since the electrodes are formed after the piezoelectric plate is fired, the electrodes can be formed at a temperature lower than the firing temperature of the piezoelectric plate. Therefore, the range of selection of materials used for the electrodes is wide.
13. The method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
According to a method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
Furthermore, the piezoelectric element can be driven at a low voltage by stacking even a small thin piezoelectric plate. Therefore, the piezoelectric element is efficiently bent and deformed.
The ink jet recording head according to claim 13, wherein a plurality of pressure chambers filled with ink is pressurized and depressurized by each piezoelectric element for each pressure chamber, and ink droplets are ejected from a nozzle communicating with the pressure chamber to a recording medium. A method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head, comprising: a first step of manufacturing a piezoelectric plate having a size that can be made thin from a raw material; a second step of forming an electrode on the piezoelectric plate; and cutting the piezoelectric plate into a predetermined size. A third step, a fourth step in which the cut piezoelectric plates are arranged in two or more rows in the vertical and horizontal directions so as to be peelable and bonded to the intermediate holding member, and the piezoelectric plates bonded to the intermediate holding member are connected to the pressure chamber. A fifth step of bonding to the vibration plate bonded to the flow path plate formed with, a sixth step of peeling the intermediate holding member, and the piezoelectric plate corresponding to the pressure chamber Divided Te is characterized by having a seventh step of a plurality of said piezoelectric element.
In the ink jet recording head manufacturing method according to the thirteenth aspect, the piezoelectric plate is divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements after being joined to the vibration plate joined to the flow path plate, so the position of the pressure chamber is directly confirmed. However, it can be divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements.
For this reason, in addition to the operation of the eleventh aspect, the positioning accuracy between the pressure chamber and the piezoelectric element is improved. Therefore, variations in ink ejection characteristics can be reduced.
In addition, when the divided piezoelectric elements are bonded to the diaphragm, the adhesive begins to break between the piezoelectric elements. However, since the adhesive is divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements after being joined to the diaphragm, such adhesive is not removed. No. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the deterioration and variation of the ink ejection characteristics due to the adhesive removal.

According to a fourteenth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head, wherein a plurality of piezoelectric plates are stacked and joined to produce a stacked piezoelectric plate, and the stacked piezoelectric plate is cut into a predetermined size. The laminated piezoelectric plate is divided into piezoelectric elements, and each pressure chamber is pressurized and depressurized. Accordingly, the same effect as that of the twelfth aspect can be achieved.
Further, since the piezoelectric plate is joined to the vibration plate joined to the flow path plate and then divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements, the same effect as in the thirteenth aspect is achieved.

In the method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
The method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
The method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
Furthermore, for example, since there is no influence of stress applied to the piezoelectric plate during machining such as sandblasting, there is no occurrence of defects such as breakage.
The method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to claim 17, wherein a plurality of pressure chambers filled with ink are individually pressurized and depressurized by a single baked piezoelectric plate that can be individually driven for each of the pressure chambers. A method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head for ejecting ink droplets from a nozzle communicating with the pressure chamber to a recording medium, the first step of producing a piezoelectric plate having a thin thickness from a raw material; and A second step of forming electrode patterns that can be individually driven for each pressure chamber, a third step of cutting the piezoelectric plate into a predetermined size, and holding the cut piezoelectric plates in two or more rows vertically and horizontally A fourth step of releasably joining to a member, and the piezoelectric plate to a diaphragm joined to a flow path plate in which the pressure chamber is formed, for each pressure chamber. Position a fifth step of joining together as possible, it is characterized by having a sixth step of removing the intermediate holding member.
The method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to claim 17 includes arranging one or more fired piezoelectric plates that can be individually driven for each pressure chamber, arranged in two or more rows in the vertical and horizontal directions, and detachably joined to the intermediate holding member. It is joined to the diaphragm joined to the road plate.
For this reason, since one piezoelectric plate can be made small, a thin piezoelectric plate whose thickness is not adjusted after firing, that is, a piezoelectric plate having a size that can be thinned can be used as it is. Therefore, an effect similar to that of the eleventh aspect is achieved.
Furthermore, since the electrode plate that can be individually driven for each pressure chamber is formed on the piezoelectric plate, there is no need to divide the piezoelectric plate into a plurality of piezoelectric elements. For this reason, it can manufacture at further low cost.

The method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
Furthermore, even a small thin piezoelectric plate can be driven at a low voltage by being laminated. Therefore, it bends and deforms efficiently.
The method of manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to claim 19 is the manufacturing method according to any one of claims 11 to 18, wherein the fifth step, the sixth step, or the seventh step, The piezoelectric plate, the laminated piezoelectric plate, or the piezoelectric element is directly bonded to the flow path plate to which the diaphragm is not bonded.
In the ink jet recording head manufacturing method according to claim 19, the piezoelectric plate, the laminated piezoelectric plate, or the piezoelectric element is directly bonded to the flow path plate to which the vibration plate is not bonded, and thus the vibration plate attaching step is omitted. And material costs can be reduced.
A method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head according to
In the ink jet recording head manufacturing method according to the twentieth aspect, since the electrodes are formed at the same time when the piezoelectric plate is baked in the first step, a separate manufacturing step for forming the electrodes is not necessary. For this reason, it can be manufactured at a lower cost.
In the first step, the electrodes can be baked at the same time as the piezoelectric plate is fired because a thin piezoelectric plate whose thickness is not adjusted after firing, that is, a piezoelectric plate having a thin thickness can be used as it is. .
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a thin piezoelectric plate that is easy to handle at low cost because the inkjet recording head can be made long with a small piezoelectric plate.
Hereinafter, a first embodiment of an inkjet recording head according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
As shown in FIG. 1, the ink
As shown in FIG. 2, a
In addition, an
The
As shown in FIG. 3, in the
As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, each
FIG. 6 is a diagram schematically showing the arrangement of the
The
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 6B, when the
Further, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 6, a gap S is opened between the Y-
In such an ink
As shown in FIG. 2B, when a drive voltage waveform is applied to the
Next, the outline of the manufacturing method of the ink
As shown in FIG. 7A, the
The material of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 7B, the surface of the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 8A, a circular
In addition, it is easy to be damaged when the thickness t is 10 μm or less, and is difficult to handle in the subsequent steps. In the present embodiment, since the thickness t is about 40 μm and is 10 μm to 75 μm, the thickness adjusting step is not necessary in the subsequent steps.
Furthermore, when the relationship between the maximum length D and the thickness t is D> 500 t, the thickness is too thin for the size (maximum length D) and it is difficult to handle. Moreover, it is difficult to fire the piezoelectric plate. Therefore, D ≦ 500t is dripping in the relationship between the thickness t after firing and the maximum length D. In the present embodiment, the relationship between the maximum length D (about 12 mm) and the thickness t (about 40 μm) is D ≦ 500 t.
At this time, the electrode 202 (material AgPdb,
The reason why the
The
In FIG. 8A, the
Next, as shown in FIG. 8B, the
As shown in FIG. 8C, the
In the present embodiment, the thickness t is about 40 μm and the
In addition, the thin
Furthermore, compared with a method of thinning a thickly baked piezoelectric plate by lapping or the like, there is no extra piezoelectric material to be cut by lapping or the like, and the material cost is low. In addition, since there is no piezoelectric material to scrape and discard, it also addresses environmental issues.
As shown in FIG. 8D, each
Note that the method of dividing may be other methods. For example, the
A plurality of
As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the
Further, since the number of the
Then, as shown in FIG. 7D, the surface of the
As shown in FIG. 7E, after bonding to the
Finally, as shown in FIG. 7F, a
Since the electrodes 202 (see FIG. 8A) are formed on both surfaces of the
8D, the process of dividing the
As described above, when the
Further, the adhesive does not stick between the
Next, the operation of the ink
As described above, the piezoelectric element group 252 (piezoelectric plate 204) is arranged in two or more columns in the vertical and horizontal directions (in this embodiment, 4 columns × 2 rows), and by reducing the size of one
For this reason, the cost regarding the process to the thickness direction of the
Therefore, the handleability in the manufacturing process is good, the defects in the manufacturing process are reduced, and the yield is improved, so that the cost can be reduced. Furthermore, since the
In this manner, the thin
Next, a second embodiment of the ink jet recording head according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In addition, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the member demonstrated in 1st Embodiment, and the overlapping description is abbreviate | omitted.
In the first embodiment, as shown in FIG. 7, one
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 9, the

In FIG. 10, the internal

Next, as shown in FIG. 11, the external
As described above, the laminated
Then, in the same manner as described in FIG. 8C, the laminated
Subsequently, the steps up to FIGS. 7A and 7B described in the first embodiment are similar steps, but the joining step of the

Next, the operation of the

Next, the operation of the ink
The ink
As described so far, the ink
In addition, since the piezoelectric element is divided into a plurality of piezoelectric elements, for example, defects such as breakage of the laminated
Furthermore, the laminated
In the first embodiment, the piezoelectric element is formed by dividing one
Next, an ink
As shown in FIG. 13, an
The ink
When one movement in the main scanning direction X is completed, the recording paper PE is conveyed in the sub scanning direction Y by the
In the above embodiment, recording is performed while the
The ink
In the present embodiment, the X direction shown in FIGS. 3 and 6 is the conveyance direction (sub-scanning direction X) of the recording paper PE, and the Y direction is the main scanning direction Y.
Note that the
Further, although the ink
The “recording medium” that is the target of image recording in the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention includes a wide range of objects as long as the ink jet recording apparatus ejects ink droplets. In addition, the dot pattern on the recording medium obtained by attaching the ink droplets on the recording medium is widely included in the “image” or “recorded image” obtained by the recording apparatus of the present invention. Therefore, the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention is not limited to that used for recording characters and images on recording paper. In addition, the recording medium includes recording paper, an OHP sheet, and the like. In addition, for example, a substrate on which a wiring pattern or the like is formed is included. The “image” includes not only general images (characters, pictures, photographs, etc.) but also the above-described wiring patterns, three-dimensional objects, organic thin films, and the like. The liquid to be discharged is not limited to colored ink. For example, production of a color filter for display performed by discharging colored ink on a polymer film or glass, formation of bumps for component mounting performed by discharging molten solder onto the substrate, and organic EL solution on the substrate For general liquid droplet ejecting devices intended for various industrial applications, such as the formation of EL display panels that are ejected onto the substrate and the formation of bumps for electrical mounting that are performed by ejecting molten solder onto the substrate.
