Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a golf club head formed by joining a metal material and a fiber reinforced resin, and more particularly to a golf club head capable of improving the durability of the joint.
In recent years, so-called composite golf club heads formed using a metal material and a fiber reinforced resin have been proposed. Such a head has advantages in that the head volume can be increased and the degree of freedom in designing the center of gravity can be easily increased as compared with a head composed only of a conventional metal material. However, the composite-type head has a problem in terms of durability, because the strength of the joint between the metal material and the fiber reinforced resin tends to be insufficient.
In view of such a situation, for example, in
The proposal of the above-mentioned
The inventors have devised an improvement in the durability of the joint from a viewpoint completely different from the technique of expanding the bonding area between the metal material and the fiber reinforced resin. That is, according to the present invention, the first joint portion of the first head member made of a metal material and the second joint portion of the second head member made of a fiber reinforced resin are overlapped and joined inside and outside the head. In addition, on the basis of providing a rib-shaped reinforcing member that reinforces the first joint portion on the first head member, the strength of the joint portion is increased by suppressing distortion generated in the first joint portion when hitting a ball. An object is to provide a golf club head to be obtained.

It is a golf club head as described in above.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, the first joint portion has a neck side joint portion included in a cylindrical region having a radius of 40 mm centering on the axis of the neck portion, and an area of the neck side joint portion. Is 15 to 40% of the total area of the crown portion, and the reinforcing member is provided at the neck side joining portion, and the thickness excluding the reinforcing member is 0.8 to 1.5 mm. A golf club head according to
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, the first joint portion includes a neck side joint portion included in a cylindrical region having a radius of 40 mm centered on the axis of the neck portion. 4. The golf club head according to
A sixth aspect of the present invention is the golf club head according to any one of the first to fifth aspects, wherein the center of gravity height is 25 to 35 mm, the center of gravity depth is 35 to 43 mm, and the head volume is 370 to 550 cm 3 .
In the golf club head of the present invention, the first joint portion of the first head member made of a metal material and the second joint portion of the second head member made of a fiber reinforced resin are stacked inside and outside the head. Although bonded, the first head member is provided with a rib-shaped reinforcing member that reinforces the first bonding portion, so that the strength of the bonding portion is improved. Thereby, the distortion of the first joint at the time of hitting can be suppressed to a small level. Accordingly, since a large shearing force or the like that promotes peeling does not occur in the joint portion, the durability of the joint portion is greatly improved.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a golf club head (hereinafter, simply referred to as “head”) 1 according to the present embodiment mounted on a horizontal plane with a specified lie angle and hook angle, and FIG. 2 is a plan view thereof. 3 is an AA enlarged sectional view of FIG. 2, FIG. 4 is a BB enlarged sectional view of FIG. 2, and FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view of the head. In the present embodiment, a wood-
The
The
The first head member M1 is preferably integrally formed by casting, for example. This eliminates the need to weld the
The metal material used for the first head member M1 is not particularly limited, but a titanium alloy having a high specific strength is preferable. As the titanium alloy, α + β series and β series titanium alloys are suitable. More specifically, Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-4.5Al-3V-2Fe-2Mo, Ti-2Mo-1.6V-0.5Fe-4.5Al-0.3Si-0.03C, Ti- 15V-3Cr-3Al-3Sn, Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al, Ti-15Mo-5Zr-4Al-4V, Ti-15V-6Cr-4Al, Ti-20V-4Al-1Sn, etc. are preferable. In addition to the titanium alloy, for example, an aluminum alloy, pure titanium, stainless steel, and other various metal materials can be used. The first head member M1 of the present embodiment employs Ti-6Al-4V suitable for casting, and shows a preferable mode in which the respective parts are integrally formed by a lost wax precision casting method. Further, if necessary, the first head member M1 may be composed of a composite of a different kind of metal having a large specific gravity on the
The
The thickness of the
The
The
この例のサイド壁部11は、図3、図5に示されるように、ほぼクラウン部4とサイド部6との境界E(稜線がある場合は該稜線とし、稜線がない場合には、最も後方に張り出した位置とする。)
The
Further, the first head member M1 is provided with a first joint F1 at the periphery of the opening O. The first joint portion F1 is a portion that overlaps the second joint portion F2 of the second head member M2 inside and outside the head. As shown in FIG. 5, the first joint portion F1 of this embodiment includes a face-side
The face-side
The width of the first joint portion F1 including the face side joint portion 20 (in other words, the width of the first joint portion F1 and the second joint portion F2 is measured in the direction perpendicular to the edge of the opening O). ) If L1 is too small, the adhesion area and the supporting area with the second head member M2 tend to be remarkably reduced and the bonding strength tends to decrease. Conversely, if L1 is too large, the amount of metal material used increases and the head weight increases. Easy to invite. From such a viewpoint, the width L1 is preferably 5.0 mm or more, more preferably 6.0 mm or more, and even more preferably 7.0 mm or more. The upper limit is preferably in combination with any of the lower limit values. Is 25.0 mm or less, more preferably 23.0 mm or less, and still more preferably 21.0 mm or less. The width can be constant around the opening O or can be changed.
The side-side
Further, the outer surfaces of the first and second side
The neck
The second head member M2 is exemplified by a
The
The thickness t2 (shown in FIG. 5) of the
Also, the thickness te of the hanging
Since such a
Further, the periphery of the
The
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 13B, the
The reinforcing fiber used for the fiber reinforced resin is preferably a carbon fiber, for example, a tensile elastic modulus of 200 GPa or more, more preferably 240 GPa or more, still more preferably 290 GPa or more, particularly preferably 290 to 500 GPa. Specifically, the fibers shown in Table 1 are suitable.
These fibers are randomly dispersed or woven, or oriented in one direction, and impregnated with, for example, an epoxy thermosetting resin to form a sheet-like prepreg. Then, the crown member 12 (second head member M2) can be formed by cutting the prepreg into a predetermined shape and laminating a required number of layers and thermosetting the prepreg into a predetermined shape. The amount of resin is desirably about 20 to 25% by weight with respect to the whole. In addition, when the prepreg is laminated, it is preferable to laminate the fibers so that the fibers intersect each other to increase the strength. In addition, let the tensile elasticity modulus of carbon fiber be the value measured based on JISR7601: 1986 "Carbon fiber test method".
As shown in FIGS. 4 and 6, the first head member M <b> 1 of the present embodiment has a rib-shaped reinforcing member that reinforces the neck-side
The
Thereby, the distortion of the neck side joining part at the time of hitting can be suppressed small. Accordingly, since a large shearing force or the like that promotes peeling does not occur in the joint portion of this portion, the durability of the head is greatly improved. On the other hand, since the reinforcing
Further, the area Sn of the neck
Further, the rib-shaped reinforcing
Thereby, it can prevent that the other end part 8A2 of
第1の接合部F1の幅L1(なおこの幅L1も、フェース側接合部分20、サイド側接合部分21及びネック側接合部分22それぞれにおいて測定される。)
FIG. 12B shows a Y-Y ′ cross section of FIG. 11. The width L1 of the first joint portion F1 (note that this width L1 is also measured at each of the face-side
The reinforcing
As shown in FIG. 8 in an enlarged manner, the height h and width w of the
The center-to-center distance P between the
The
Further, the
Since the
In the
The center-of-gravity height GH can be set to preferably 35 mm or less, more preferably 32 mm or less, and even more preferably 30 mm or less, and the lower limit can be set to about 20 mm or less. Since the center of gravity GH can be lowered in the
Although it is extremely difficult to construct a head with such specifications while having practical durability, a head made of a metal material is extremely difficult, but in the present invention, such a head can be easily manufactured. Needless to say, the present invention can be applied not only to a wood type but also to an iron type or putter type head.
A hollow wood-type golf club head having the basic form shown in FIG. 1 was made on the basis of the specifications shown in Table 2, and the durability and the hit distance of the hit ball were evaluated. In the embodiment, the first and second head members have the basic shape shown in FIG. 5 except for the ribs, and the first head member is integrally formed of Ti-6Al-4V by the lost wax precision casting method. As a unified specification of the first head member, the thickness of each part was as follows. Note that a reinforcing member is not provided at the side-side joint portion.

In addition, the second head member was manufactured by attaching a prepreg to the outer peripheral surface of the bladder and applying heat and pressure molding in the mold. For carbon fiber, “T-700S”, “T-800H”, and “M-40J” manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc. were used (combined). The thickness of each part is as follows. Thickness of the base of the crown wall Tf: 0.8mm
Thickness of the drooping part of the crown wall: 0.8mm
The first and second head members were fixed with an epoxy adhesive. The test was conducted as follows.
