Description
The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device, and more particularly, to an electro-optical device including a pixel circuit having a structure suitable for an active matrix liquid crystal display device having a reflective display function and a transmissive display function.

However, as described above, when the color display is performed by switching the primary color light of the backlight in a time division manner, a driver for time division driving, a source signal line for the display unit, a gate signal line, etc. are required. As a result, the drive circuit becomes complicated and the aperture ratio decreases. In the above-mentioned
Accordingly, the present invention has been made paying attention to such an unsolved problem of the conventional technology, and is an active matrix driving type liquid crystal display having both a reflective display function and a transmissive display function. A self-luminous light source that emits primary color light corresponding to each of a plurality of primary colors for displaying a color image,
Image display via the light shielding element is possible with the light reflected by the incident light reflecting means, and image display via the light shielding element is possible with light incident from the back side of the light shielding element by the light source. An electro-optic device,
The pixel circuit includes:
A plurality of reflective display electrodes that are provided for each primary color of the plurality of primary colors and that apply a voltage corresponding to the control signal to the light shielding element, and correspond to the plurality of reflective display electrodes, respectively. A plurality of first transistors for supplying the control signal to the reflective display electrode, and a first pixel configuration unit,
There is a one-to-one correspondence between each of the transmissive display electrodes for applying a voltage corresponding to the control signal to the light shielding element and each of the plurality of first transistors for supplying the control signal to the transmissive display electrode. A second pixel component including a plurality of second transistors, and a plurality of second transistors,
The scanning line is connected to each signal input terminal in the first transistor and the second transistor,
The data lines are connected to respective current input terminals in the first transistor and the second transistor,
The signal of the first transistor in each of the plurality of first transistors and the plurality of second transistors of the pixel circuit group in each row or each column corresponding to each of the plurality of scanning lines of the pixel matrix. A common scanning line among the plurality of scanning lines is connected to the input terminal and the signal input terminal of the second transistor corresponding one-to-one to the first transistor.
With such a configuration, the pixel circuit is connected to the light-shielding element by the plurality of reflective display electrodes provided in each of the primary colors of the plurality of primary colors in the first pixel configuration unit. A voltage corresponding to the control signal can be applied, and the control signal is supplied to the reflective display electrode by a plurality of first transistors provided corresponding to the plurality of reflective display electrodes, respectively. It is possible to apply a voltage corresponding to the control signal to the light shielding element by the transmissive display electrode in the second component, and each of the plurality of first transistors has a one-to-one correspondence. The control signal can be supplied to the transmissive display electrode by a plurality of second transistors provided.
Furthermore, in each of the plurality of first transistors and the plurality of second transistors of the pixel circuit group in each row or each column corresponding to each of the plurality of scanning lines of the pixel matrix, each of the first transistors A common scanning line among the plurality of scanning lines is connected to the signal input terminal of the second transistor and the signal input terminal of the second transistor corresponding to the first transistor one-to-one. Thus, a signal related to the selection of the scanning line can be supplied to the set of the plurality of first transistors and the plurality of second transistors. Here, the common scanning line is also common to the pixel circuit group in the row or column of the pixel matrix corresponding to the scanning line. For example, each scanning line corresponds to each row of the pixel matrix. In this case, a common scanning line is connected to these signal input terminals for each set of the first transistor and the second transistor in the pixel circuit group in each row.
Therefore, a common scanning line is connected to each pair of the first transistor and the second transistor corresponding to the first transistor in the pixel circuit group in each row or each column corresponding to the scanning line. As a result, the total number of scanning lines can be reduced, so that the circuit configuration and the like can be simplified and the cost can be reduced.
Here, the light shielding element is, for example, a liquid crystal cell, which includes a polarizing filter that controls light entering and exiting, two glass substrates that prevent leakage of electricity from the electrode part to other parts, and liquid crystal. It is formed by a transparent electrode for driving, an alignment film for aligning liquid crystal molecules in a certain direction, a liquid crystal injected between the two glass substrates, and the like. Since the electro-optical device of the present invention also has a reflective display function, a passage for guiding light incident from the surface side to the incident light reflecting means is formed in the light shielding element. The same applies to the subsequent inventions.
[Invention 2] Furthermore, the electro-optical device according to Invention 2 is the electro-optical device according to

Since a common data line among the plurality of data lines is connected to the current input terminal, the total number of data lines can be reduced, thereby simplifying the circuit configuration and reducing costs. It becomes.

Here, the common data line is also common to the pixel circuit group in the row or column of the pixel matrix corresponding to the data line, like the common scanning line. When the data line corresponds to each column of the pixel matrix, the common data line is connected to the current input terminals of the plurality of first transistors and the plurality of second transistors in the pixel circuit group of each column. Will be.
[Invention 3] The electro-optical device according to Invention 3 further includes a pixel matrix in which pixel circuits are arranged in a matrix,

The voltage corresponding to the control signal can be applied to the light shielding element by the transmissive display electrode in the second component, and the control signal is applied to the transmissive display electrode by the second transistor. Can be supplied.
Furthermore, each of the plurality of first transistors in the plurality of first transistors and the second transistors of the pixel circuit group in each row or each column corresponding to each of the plurality of data lines of the pixel matrix. Since a common data line among the plurality of data lines is connected to each current input terminal and the current input terminal of the second transistor, the plurality of data lines in each pixel circuit group are connected via the common data line. The control signal can be supplied to the first transistor and the second transistor. Here, the common data line is also common to the pixel circuit group in the row or column of the pixel matrix corresponding to the data line. For example, each data line corresponds to each column of the pixel matrix. In such a case, data lines common to the plurality of first transistors and second transistors in the pixel circuit group in each column are connected to these current input terminals.

By supplying the signal to the plurality of first transistors in a time-sharing manner for each color in order, it is possible to perform color representation of the color image. In the second pixel configuration unit In the period of one frame for displaying the color image, the second line transistor supplies the control signal relating to the display image data corresponding to each of the plurality of primary colors by the data line driving circuit. For each color, the light source emits each primary color light in time division according to the supply of the control signal corresponding to each color. By changing, it is possible to perform the color representation of the color image.

As shown in FIG. 3, a plurality of
Furthermore, a specific operation of the electro-

Further, the data
Here, in the present embodiment, the primary color
On the other hand, in the image display by the first to third
Further, in the present embodiment, the common data
Therefore, as shown in the timing chart of FIG. 4, the scanning

Furthermore, based on FIG. 5, the control method of the light emission luminance at the time of transmissive display is demonstrated.
When performing transmissive display of an image by the
Furthermore, the light emission time of reflective display and transmissive display will be described with reference to FIG.
As shown in FIG. 6, the light emission periods at the time of reflective display by the first to third

Furthermore, a specific operation of the electro-

Further, the data
In the present embodiment, as described above, the
Accordingly, as shown in the timing chart of FIG. 11, the scanning line selection signal is supplied to the
In addition to this, as shown in the timing chart of FIG. 12, the scanning line selection signal is supplied from the
