Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is suitable for piezoelectric sensors such as acceleration sensors, knocking sensors, and AE sensors, ink jets for fuel injection, print heads for inkjet printers, piezoelectric resonators, oscillators, ultrasonic motors, ultrasonic vibrators, filters, etc. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator suitably used as a print head using spreading vibration, elongation vibration, and thickness standing vibration, and a method for manufacturing a print head using the same.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, products using piezoelectric ceramics include, for example, piezoelectric actuators, filters, piezoelectric resonators (including oscillators), ultrasonic vibrators, ultrasonic motors, piezoelectric sensors, and the like.
[0003]
Among these, the piezoelectric actuator has a very high response speed to the electric signal of the order of 10 −6 seconds, so that it can be used as an actuator for positioning an XY stage of a semiconductor manufacturing apparatus or an actuator used for a print head of an ink jet printer. Applied.
[0004]
In general, as shown in FIG. 3, for example, a print head using an ink jet system has a plurality of

[0007]
The piezoelectric actuator in such a print head can be obtained by forming an arbitrary conductive paste on the surface of a piezoelectric ceramic green sheet by printing and applying it to an electrode pattern, and then laminating and integrating them.
[0008]
The thickness of the surface electrode of the actuator is set to 0.7 to 5 μm in order to prevent the electrode from becoming too thin or cut off due to diffusion of the electrode component into the piezoelectric ceramic layer at the time of firing, and to prevent delamination. A laminated piezoelectric material has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
[0009]
According to Patent Document 1, in forming this electrode pattern, a method is disclosed in which a metal material, a binder, or a solvent is kneaded into a paste and formed using screen printing, and has a thickness of 0.7 to 5 μm. (1) Decrease the paste viscosity and reduce the amount of paste supplied to the green sheet. (2) Increase the organic components other than the metal component and supply it to the green sheet that remains after firing. A method of reducing the amount is described.
[0010]
Therefore, as a means for forming a thin film of 0.7 to 5 μm by the same thick film construction method, a method of baking at 830 ° C. using an organic gold paste has been proposed (see Patent Document 2).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the method (1) causes blurring and blurring, and since it is simultaneous firing, the problem is that the electrode becomes too thin or the electrode is cut off.
[0014]
In the method (2), since the packing density of the metal component in the dry film is reduced, the firing shrinkage ratio is increased, so that the thickness variation is likely to occur, and thus it is liable to cause blurring. It is an inappropriate method for forming a film. Further, increasing the organic component makes it difficult to remove the binder, and generates voids at the interface between the electrode and the ceramic, leading to a decrease in adhesion strength.
[0015]
Further, when applied to a piezoelectric actuator under the conditions described in
[0016]
In addition, when an electrode made of a silver-based metal material and an electrode formed of an organic metal are combined, there is a problem that mutual diffusion occurs between the two electrodes, and a Kirkendall void is generated to cause disconnection. .
[0017]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator that has no local thinning of the pattern of the surface electrode, no disconnection, and high connection reliability with the internal electrode through the through-hole conductor. To do.
[0018]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The method for manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator of the present invention includes a step of producing a green sheet made of a piezoelectric material, a step of forming an electrode on the surface of the green sheet, in a method of manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator having an electrode pattern formed on the surface, An electrode formed on at least a surface of the laminated molded body, comprising: a step of producing a laminated molded body by laminating the green sheets on which the electrodes are formed; and a step of firing the laminated molded body Is formed by printing and applying an organic metal paste containing a main metal component and a Bi compound and / or a Pb compound.
[0019]
In such a configuration, it is optimal that the Bi compound and / or the Pb compound is contained in an amount of 1 to 10 parts by mass or more in terms of oxide with respect to 100 parts by mass of the main metal component.
[0020]
The main metal may be made of at least one selected from the group consisting of gold, silver, and alloys thereof, thereby increasing the conductivity of the electrode.
[0021]
Moreover, the said Bi compound and / or Pb compound can consist of at least 1 sort (s) chosen from the group of an oxide and an organic salt, and can improve the adhesiveness of the electrode with respect to a piezoelectric ceramic layer.
[0022]
The metal component of the organometallic is preferably gold. As a result, the problem of corrosion due to oxidation and sulfurization during use can be solved, and the problem of migration between adjacent electrodes can be solved.
[0023]
Furthermore, the organometallic paste is preferably fired at 825 ° C. or lower.
Thereby, the reliability of a connection part when the internal electrode uses silver which is an inexpensive material can be secured.
[0024]
Moreover, it is desirable that the surface electrode formed of the organometallic paste is connected to an electrode formed inside the multilayer molded body through a via-hole conductor formed through the green sheet. Thereby, since it can be connected to the internal electrode with a minimum area, high integration can be achieved.

[0030]
A method for manufacturing such a piezoelectric actuator 1 will be described. First, a green sheet made of the piezoelectric material described above is produced. This green sheet is prepared by adding and mixing an organic solvent such as toluene together with an organic binder such as a methacrylic acid resin to the piezoelectric material, and then preparing this slurry using a known sheet such as a doctor blade method. Molded by a molding method.
[0031]
Next, a via hole having a hole diameter of 50 to 500 μm is opened on the green sheet by punching or laser processing, and then a conductor pace is filled into the via hole.
[0032]
Next, an internal electrode pattern is formed on the surface of the green sheet. This internal electrode can be formed by printing and forming an electrode paste containing a metal component, an organic binder, and an organic solvent by a method such as a screen printing method.
[0033]
Thereafter, the green sheets on which the electrodes are formed are laminated to produce a laminated molded body.
[0034]
At this time, when the diaphragm is formed of ceramics that can be fired simultaneously with the piezoelectric ceramic layer, the above-described piezoelectric actuator is formed after producing a green sheet using a ceramic material that similarly forms the diaphragm. The laminated molded body may be laminated and integrated.
[0035]
Thereafter, the laminated molded body is cut into a predetermined shape and then fired at about 900 to 1100 ° C. to form a piezoelectric actuator body.
[0036]
Finally, a surface electrode is formed on the surface of the piezoelectric actuator body. This surface electrode can obtain the piezoelectric actuator 1 by printing a predetermined conductive paste and baking it at about 600 to 800 ° C.
[0037]
According to the present invention, in the method of manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator, when forming the surface electrode of the piezoelectric actuator, the main metal component and the organometallic paste containing the Bi compound and / or the Pb compound are printed and applied as the conductor paste. It is important to form.
[0038]
This organic metal paste is not a metal powder but a metal component forming a conductor track, and is at least one selected from the group consisting of mercaptans, sulfides, abietic acid, decanoic acid, naodecanoic acid, rosin acid, and 2-ethylhexanoic acid. These compounds are added and contained.

According to the present invention, by using such an organic metal paste, the film thickness of the electrode can be made uniform as compared with the case of printing, applying, and baking a conductor paste using a conventional metal powder. Therefore, variation in piezoelectric characteristics can be reduced.
[0040]
In addition, it is important that this organometallic paste contains at least one of a Bi compound and a Pb compound. Since this Bi compound and Pb compound have reactivity with piezoelectric ceramics as compared with other metal compounds, it is possible to improve the adhesion between the electrodes and the piezoelectric ceramic layer.
[0041]
At least one of the Bi compound and Pb compound is optimally added in a ratio of 1 to 10 parts by mass in terms of oxide (Bi 2 O 3 , PbO) per 100 parts by mass of the main metal component. It is.
[0042]
Moreover, this Bi compound and Pb compound can be added in at least one form selected from the group of oxides and organic salts, and it is particularly desirable to add them in the form of organic salts.
[0043]

【Example】
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described with reference to examples. Here, a piezoelectric actuator as shown in FIG. 1 was produced by the following method.
[0053]
First, 10 parts by mass of an acrylic resin and 40 parts by mass of toluene are added to 100 parts by mass of a piezoelectric ceramic powder having a particle size of 0.5 to 3.0 μm mainly composed of lead zirconate titanate. A slurry was prepared by mixing for 30 hours in a ball mill using 200 parts by mass of ceramic balls having a diameter of 10 mm.
[0054]
A green sheet having a thickness of 35 to 37 μm to be the piezoelectric ceramic layer 1 was formed on a PET film having a thickness of 30 μm by the pulling method using the obtained slurry.
[0055]
Next, the obtained green sheet is cut into 50 mm × 50 mm together with the PET film and classified into a set of two sheets, and then a common electrode (internal electrode) is formed on substantially the entire surface of one of the two sheets. The resulting metal paste was printed by screen printing and dried at 50 ° C. for 20 minutes using a dryer.
[0056]
In the remaining one green sheet, a circular hole (through hole) having a diameter of 125 μm was opened at one place using a mold. As the conductive paste, a mixture of silver powder having an average particle diameter of 2 to 4 μm and palladium powder mixed in a ratio of 7 to 3 and dispersed in an organic vehicle was used.
[0057]
Then, another green sheet is superposed on the surface on which the above-mentioned conductor paste is printed, and then thermocompression bonded by holding for 60 seconds while applying a pressure of 5 MPa at a temperature of 60 ° C. Formed. After that, the conductor paste is filled in a through-hole formed in advance, degreased by heating at 100 ° C. to 300 ° C. at a heating rate of 8 ° C. per hour for 25 hours, cooled to room temperature, and further fired Piezoelectric ceramic in which an internal electrode is formed inside the piezoelectric ceramic layer 1 having a thickness of 58 μm and a relative dielectric constant of 2500, and a via hole diameter of 100 μm is built-in. A laminate was obtained.
[0058]
Next, in order to form a surface electrode at a predetermined location on the surface of the obtained piezoelectric ceramic laminate, a conductor paste containing an organometallic compound shown in Table 1 was prepared. In preparing the paste, the additive shown in Table 1 was added to 100 parts by mass of α-terpineol mercaptan gold at a ratio shown in Table 1, and 15 parts by mass of an organic binder made of an acrylic resin, and α-terpineol as a solvent. 30 parts by mass was added and mixed. Using this conductor paste, printing was applied such that the thickness after baking was as shown in Table 1.
In addition, as the surface electrode pattern for evaluation, a pattern having a land portion having a diameter of 150 μm connected to the via-hole conductor was formed.
[0059]
Thereafter, this was baked at 825 ° C. for 1 hour in an air atmosphere.
[0060]
For comparison, the surface electrode was printed and applied by the same method as described above using a conductive paste using gold powder having an average particle diameter of 1 μm, and then baked.
[0061]
The solder joint strength of the land portion of the surface electrode pattern in the fabricated piezoelectric actuator was examined. In the measurement, an annealed copper wire was joined to the land portion using eutectic solder, and the peel strength was measured.
[0062]
[Table 1]
[0063]
As is apparent from the results in Table 1, in forming the surface electrode, the sample No. 1 formed using a conductive paste using a conventional metal powder was used. In No. 5, the peel strength was 0.05 kgf or less.
[0064]
On the other hand, according to the present invention, the bonding strength of the land portion could be 0.05 kgf or more by using the organometallic paste. In particular, by using a Bi compound and a Pb compound as the organometallic paste, the bonding strength could be 0.09 kgf or more.
[0065]
【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, according to the present invention, there is no local thinning or disconnection of the pattern of the surface electrode formed on the surface of the piezoelectric actuator, and the bonding strength with the via-hole conductor is high and the reliability is high. A piezoelectric actuator can be provided. As a result, the driving reliability of the piezoelectric actuator in the print head is increased, so that the reliability of the print head can be increased.
