Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a composite image forming apparatus having a plurality of functions such as a FAX (facsimile) function, a printer function, and a copy function.
In recent years, an image processing device such as a scanner, an image storage device such as a hard disk or an optical disk, a communication device using a FAX or a network, a digital composite image processing device configured by integrating various image processing devices such as a printing device, The so-called multi-function copying machine has been actively developed.
In these image processing apparatuses, it is common to share a single scanner (original table) and printer (tray unit) among a plurality of functions such as a copying function, a FAX function, and a printer function.
The problems in the composite image processing apparatus as described above are the conflict between operation requests of a plurality of functions and the conventional control method of each function.
For example, in the former case, if a job being executed in document units is continued, such as when a copy request is generated during reception printing or printer operation, it cannot be used as a copier during that time.
However, in general, when viewed from the user, copying in which an operation is performed standing in front of the apparatus is often more urgent than printing of a FAX reception image or image data received as a printer. Therefore, in general, even when printing a FAX reception image or image data received as a printer, if a copy request is made, the FAX reception image printing or printer function is interrupted to give priority to the copy function. It is normal to make it. In this case, the copy recording sheets are stacked on the recording sheets that have been discharged so far, and there is a problem that the boundary between them becomes unclear from the viewpoint of the user. It was. In addition, even when printing of received images is interrupted, such as during FAX reception, reception may continue. In this case, the FAX reception storage memory cannot be released, and the memory capacity is exceeded. In some cases, the reception was terminated halfway.
With respect to the latter, that is, from the viewpoint of the difference in the conventional operation method of each function, for example, in a conventional copying machine, the recording paper is discharged with the printing surface up in the order of input. At this time, since the related related documents are usually copied all at once, the interval at which each page of the document is ejected is relatively short.
However, in the FAX transmitted from the first page, the FAX received images are discharged in the order of reception with the print side down so as not to disturb the page order. At this time, since the printing operation is normally performed in the order of the received pages in parallel with the reception, the interval at which each page of the document is discharged is several seconds to several tens of seconds, and is relatively long until the entire document is printed. Time is needed. That is, there is a possibility that completely different copy printing or print data may be interrupted during this period.
As one means for solving these problems, for example, a method of installing a paper discharge tray for each function, or installing a large-capacity external storage device such as a hard disk for storing received images, and further increasing the printing speed. A way to do this is also conceivable. However, this makes the entire device expensive.
An object of the present invention is to provide a composite image forming apparatus capable of preventing a reduction in work efficiency when a plurality of apparatuses perform processing in duplicate. is there.

According to the present invention, a composite image forming apparatus having the following effects can be provided.
(1) When printing a FAX received image, the received document is handed over to the user in ascending order from the first page by printing from the last received page after receiving image data of all pages (Reception / Printing Method 1). In addition, the printer function occupation time can be shortened (when the printing process is performed in parallel with the image data reception process, the printer function occupation time is relatively long). In other words, since other jobs can be printed even while image data is being received, a reduction in work efficiency can be prevented.
(2) By adopting a control method (reception / printing method 2) in which printing is started from a printable received page in a single reception procedure, the memory can be stored even when the remaining amount of reception / storage memory is small. It is possible to continue the reception by releasing the storage for the received image being executed. Therefore, work reliability can be improved without interrupting the reception process.
(3) When a job such as copying is interrupted due to factors such as memory full, and multiple jobs are printed on the same paper discharge tray, the printout is changed by changing the direction of the recording paper and the print surface. By doing so, the possibility that another person's manuscript will be mistakenly taken away when the document is mixed is reduced, and the operability as a multi-function is improved.
(4) When a job other than FAX reception is in operation by notifying that the memory is full before the remaining amount of memory for receiving and storing reaches “0”, the minimum number of jobs being executed by the user It is possible to provide a margin for performing a limited operation and to suppress the possibility of line disconnection due to insufficient memory.

In FIG. 10, an input /
Here, the image processing unit performs, for example, a size conversion process specified by the user at the time of copying or an image quality improving process such as an error diffusion process, and a conversion process to a resolution specified by the user at the time of FAX image input. Performs size conversion processing, high image quality processing, etc. according to the performance of the receiver. At this time, the image data input to the image memory is subjected to modification processing such as rotation processing and image composition in accordance with the user's setting contents.
Also, during FAX printing, resolution expansion processing (interpolation processing) that matches the resolution of the printer, high image quality processing such as smoothing, and image rotation processing according to user settings are performed on the received fax data. Also, reduction processing or page division processing when a long document is received is performed. These scanners / printers are directly controlled by a mechanical / mechanical control CPU, and the

When the capacity of the
FIG. 13 is a diagram showing a concept of a notification procedure when the file memory is full in the
The received image data is temporarily stored in the transmission /
When it is detected that the remaining memory capacity of the
Increasing the notification threshold value can reduce the possibility of communication line disconnection due to memory shortage, but in this case, the frequency of memory full detection increases. For this reason, there is a high possibility that the operations of other jobs such as copying that may occur in parallel are restricted, and it is not always possible to guarantee an optimal operation of the entire apparatus. Using this time, the
In the present invention, with the occurrence of memory full as a trigger, the
For example, although the implementation method will be described later, if this message area is the
For example, if the start of memory full printing is interrupted by pressing a specific key due to the occurrence of memory full, the
As shown in the example of FIG. 14, for a job that is being executed when the file memory is full, the recording paper discharge during printing ends normally, and if the job can be switched, the process proceeds to the reception printing procedure. If print data created by a PC or the like is being received, the last received image is printed. If the job can be switched, the process proceeds to a FAX received image printing procedure. If it is desired to continue copying, it is possible to continue copying as it is by giving an instruction to interrupt printing. At that time, if a paper jam or the like occurs and it takes a long time to enter the job switchable state, the memory cannot be stored and the communication line is disconnected. Notifies that line disconnection occurred due to memory full. Subsequently, the presence / absence of a printable page is confirmed, and the procedure proceeds to a printing procedure.
If no other job is using the
For example, when the reception /
If reception /
If there is a received unprinted document, printing is performed according to the reception /
If it is in a printable state and there is no printable page, it is checked whether or not reception is continuing. If reception is in progress, reception /
In the reception /
If reception is not continuing, the process ends at that time. When the printable size of the recording sheet is found out at the time of printing, this is notified to the operation panel control unit and displayed by an LED or message on the
FIG. 15 is a conceptual diagram showing means for realizing operation panel control in the present invention.
The example of FIG. 15 shows the case of a composite image forming apparatus having a copying function and a FAX function. For example, when the FAX menu display / switching control is performed, when the FAX menu is selected, the
On the contrary, when a specific menu is selected on the
Further, when the memory of the FAX reception / storage area is full during the copy menu control, the

When the incoming call is recognized, the FAX

In the case of normal printing not due to the occurrence of memory full, the fact that printing is started from the last page received is registered in the FAX input / output management table. The input /
When the printing end of one page is notified from the input /
If registration of a priority job such as copying occurs and the memory is not full, the job is registered in the input / output management table of the job, and the received print job being executed is interrupted. The input /
Next, compare the image size of the interrupted job with the image that is scheduled to be received, and if it is found that the size is the same, change the direction of the recording paper or the print surface to clarify the job boundary. . For example, when an interrupted job uses A4 vertical recording paper to perform printing processing, and the reception of a new print is an image size of A4, the same size as A4 and different directions Check the recording paper cassette. When a recording paper having a different size is used for the image scheduled to be received and the interrupted job, the print job is registered in the input /
If there is no recording paper of the same size and different direction, the presence / absence of the automatic duplexer 270 is confirmed. When the automatic duplexer 270 is provided, in the FAX input / output management table, after printing, the automatic duplexer 270 is used to invert the recording paper and register to perform a print job. If the automatic duplexer 270 is not provided, the routine proceeds to normal printing processing. When printing is performed up to the last page by the above procedure, the printing procedure is terminated. At this time, if there is a previous job that has been interrupted, the job is resumed.
FIG. 18 is a flowchart showing a printing procedure in the input /
When the input /

Subsequently, parameters for image processing performed by the
Further, when the reverse discharge of the recording paper is designated, the recording paper is once reversed via the automatic duplex device 270, and the recording paper is discharged without performing any printing on the reversed printing surface. When a trouble such as a paper jam occurs when the recording paper is discharged, the processing is interrupted on the spot, the recovery processing is performed, and the processing is resumed. Since the recovery process at this time is not directly related to the present invention, the detailed description is omitted here.

FIG. 19 is a diagram illustrating an example of an realizing unit during image rotation.
FIG. 19 shows a case where a block of 16 × 16 dots per character is rotated 90 degrees to the left. For example, as shown in FIG. 19A, image data to be rotated is divided into matrix units of 8 characters × 8 characters. Each matrix is vertically and horizontally converted in units of one row as shown in FIG. 19B using a 16-bit × 16-word vertical / horizontal conversion register.
The matrix subjected to the vertical / horizontal conversion in this way is repeatedly pasted on the image data storage memory after the rotation processing. The memory at this time uses the same size as the image to be rotated.

When the automatic duplex device 270 is provided, the input /
When printing is performed up to the last page by the above procedure, the printing procedure is terminated. At this time, if there is a previous job that has been interrupted, the job is resumed.
FIG. 21 is a diagram showing an overview of overall job management according to the present invention, and in particular, an overview of job management related to input / output jobs for each function.
The table shown on the upper side shows an example of a job management table for managing all jobs generated in the entire composite image forming apparatus. Here, the maximum number of jobs that can be registered and job execution waiting management are performed.
For example, the head job ID indicates the head job ID waiting for execution. The job list on the lower side means individual job information. For example, the next job ID is a subsequent job, and the job type is a job type such as copying, FAX transmission / reception, polling, or a print job of created data on a PC. The job status means a status such as sending or printing. This job list can be registered up to the maximum number of receptions that can be managed. In FIG. By referring to this table, it is possible to grasp the outline of the execution state of the entire apparatus.
The lower copy input / output management table, FAX input / output management table, and printer job registration table are management tables for managing detailed information related to input / output jobs of each function among the jobs registered in the overall job management table. It is an example. This table is managed by both the
When executing the job, the input /
