【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、大量の印刷を区切り処置することができる画像形成装置に関し、たとえばプリンタ,複写機,ファクシミリ,蓄積機能がある複合機能画像形成装置に使用できる。

【従来技術】
大量の印刷に章区切り,章分け,合紙(表紙を含む)挿入,印字などの区切り処置を行う画像形成装置がある。章区切りは、両面印刷において、自動原稿供給装置(ADF)の原稿台に配置される第1の原稿束の印刷を終えると、次に配置される第2の原稿束の印刷は、転写紙の表面への印刷から開始するものであり、章分けは、両面印刷において指定されたページを、それが偶数番ページ(通常は転写紙の裏面に印刷される)であっても転写紙の表面に印刷して次ページを該転写紙の裏面に印刷するものである。合紙挿入は、1つの用紙トレイに合紙用の用紙(例えば色付き用紙)を装填しておき、指定のページの普通紙印刷の前又は後に合紙を送り出す、あるいは、指定ページの原稿の画像を合紙に印刷するものである。印字は、丸秘,印刷日,印刷場所,印刷ドキュメントの出所,印刷の通し番号等の付加情報を、指定があったページに付加印字するものである。

大量の原稿束、特に一度に原稿台に配置し得る量を超える原稿束を、1つの複写ジョブ(大量原稿モードの複写)として複写処理する場合、上述の章区切り,章分け,合紙(表紙を含む)挿入,印字などの区切り処置を設定することが煩雑になる場合が多い。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
従来のページ指定方式では、大量の原稿に対して多くの個所に、章分け,合紙挿入等の区切り処置を行おうとすると、印刷開始前に正確に設定していく必要がある。また原稿をみれば指定したい個所が一目瞭然な場合(色や紙種が異なる場合など)でもページがわからない場合はページ数を数える必要がある。

本発明は、印刷時に、例えば章分け,合紙挿入等の区切り処置を行う場合の区切り処置位置の設定を容易にすることを目的とする。

図1〜図4に、本発明の一実施例を示す。自動原稿送り装置(以後ADF)1にある原稿台2に原稿の画像面を上にして置かれた原稿束は、図4に示す操作ボード30上のプリントキー34が押下されると、一番下の原稿から、図1に示す給送ローラ3,給送ベルト4によってコンタクトガラス6上の所定の位置に給送される。図1に示す複写機は、ADF1が一枚の原稿の給送を完了すると原稿枚数をカウントアップするカウント機能を有している。コンタクトガラス6上に給送された原稿は、スキャナ50によってコンタクトガラス6上の原稿の画像データを読み取り後、読み取りが終了した原稿は、給送ベルト4及び排送ローラ5によって排出される。さらに、原稿セット検知7にて原稿台2に次の原稿が有ることを検知した場合、前原稿と同様にコンタクトガラス6上に給送される。給送ローラ3,給送ベルト4および排送ローラ5は搬送モータ26(図2)によって駆動される。

図1に示すスキャナ50は、原稿を載置するコンタクトガラス6と光学走査系で構成されており、光学走査系には、露光ランプ51,第1〜第3ミラー52,55,56,レンズ53,CCDイメージセンサ54等々で構成されている。露光ランプ51及び第1ミラー52は図示しない第1キャリッジ上に固定され、第2ミラー55及び第3ミラー56は図示しない第2キャリッジ上に固定されている。原稿像を読み取るときには、光路長が変わらないように、第1キャリッジと第2キャリッジとが2対1の相対速度で機械的に走査(副走査)される。この光学走査系は、図示しないスキャナ駆動モータにて駆動される。原稿画像は、CCDイメージセンサ54によって読み取られ、電気信号に変換されて処理される。

図1に示す複写機は、フルカラー印刷ができるデジタルカラー複写機である。1色のトナー像を形成する、感光体15および現像器27ならびに図示を省略したチャージャ,クリーニング装置および転写器の組体(作像ユニット)は、Bk(黒),C(シアン),M(マゼンタ)およびY(イエロー)のそれぞれの作像用に一組、合せて4組があり、搬送ベルト16に沿ってタンデムに配列されており、それらによって形成された各色トナー像が順次に一枚の転写紙上に重ねて転写される。

第1トレイ8,第2トレイ9および第3トレイ10に積載された転写紙は、各々第1給紙装置11,第2給紙装置12および第3給紙装置13によって給紙され、縦搬送ユニット14によって感光体15に当接する位置まで搬送される。スキャナ50にて読み込まれた画像データは、書込ユニット60からのレーザー露光によって、図示を省略したチャージャによって均一に荷電した感光体15に書込まれこれにより静電潜像を形成する。この静電潜像が現像ユニット27を通過することによって感光体15上にトナー像が現れる。転写紙が感光体15の回転と等速で搬送ベルト16によって搬送されながら、感光体15上のトナー像が転写される。その後、定着ユニット17にて画像を定着させ、排紙ユニット18によって後処理装置のフィニシャ100に排出される。

図1に示す、後処理装置のフィニシャ100は、本体の排紙ユニット18によって搬送された転写紙を、通常排紙ローラ103方向と、ステープル処理部方向へ導く事ができる。切り替え板101を上に切り替える事により、搬送ローラ103を経由して通常排紙トレイ104側に排紙する事ができる。また、切り替え板101を下方向に切り替える事で、搬送ローラ105,107を経由して、ステープル台108に搬送する事ができる。ステープル台108に積載された転写紙は、一枚排紙されるごとに紙揃え用のジョガー109によって、紙端面が揃えられ、一部のコピー完了と共にステープラ106によって綴じられる。ステープラ106で綴じられた転写紙群は自重によって、ステープル完了排紙トレイ110に収納される。

一方、通常の排紙トレイ104は前後(図1紙面と垂直な方向)に移動可能な排紙トレイである。前後に移動可能な排紙トレイ部104は、原稿毎、あるいは、画像メモリによってソーティングされたコピー部毎に、前後に移動し、簡易的に排出されてくるコピー紙を仕分けるものである。

一方、画像メモリコントローラ65とセレクタ64間は、双方向に画像データを入出力可能な構成となっている。図3には特に明示していないが、IPU49にはスキャナ50から入力される画像データ以外にもI/Oポート67、電話回線通信制御ユニット68を介して外部から供給される画像データ、例えばパーソナルコンピュータ等のデータ処理装置から入力したデータも処理できるよう、複数のデータへの入出力の選択を行なう機能を有している。HDD75に登録している印字データならびに外部から入力される印刷データのなかの文書データ(テキストデータ)は、印字イメージデータ生成76でイメージデータ(画像データ)に変換される。

電話回線通信制御ユニット68は付属の図示しないアンテナを介して無線通信網より得られるアナログ情報をデジタル化する、もしくは、画像メモリ66やHDD(ハードディスク装置)75,ROM69,RAM70,NVRAM74に記憶されているデータをアナログ情報に変換し無線通信網を経由して、所定の携帯端末に送信する機能をもつ。これにより、一般の電話と図1に示す複写機とのデータの送受信を可能にしている。

ここで画像圧縮する理由は、最大画像サイズ分の256階調のデータをそのまま画像メモリ66に書き込む事も可能であるが、1枚の原稿画像で画像メモリを大変多く使用する。画像圧縮を行う事で、限られた画像メモリを有効に利用できる。また、一度に多くの原稿画像データを記憶することが出来るため、ソート機能として、貯えられた原稿画像イメージデータをページ順に出力する事ができる。

画像メモリ66の画像はCPU68からアクセス可能な構成となっている。このため画像メモリの内容を加工することが可能であり、例えば画像の間引き処理,画像の切り出し処理等が行える。これらの加工をする場合、メモリコントローラ65のレジスタに対する画像データの書込みおよび又は読出しのときにアドレス操作をし、また所要の演算をする。加工した画像データは再度画像メモリ66に保持する。画像メモリ66は、処理を行う画像データの大きさにより複数のエリアに分割して画像データの入出力を同時に実行可能な構成をとっている。各分割したエリアに画像データの入力、出力をそれぞれ並列に実行可能にするために、画像メモリ66は、メモリコントローラ65とのインターフェースにリード用とライト用の二組のアドレスおよびデータ線で接続されている。これによりエリア1に画像を入力(書込み)する間にエリア2より画像を出力(読出し)するという動作が可能になり、原稿束の全原稿読取り(画像入力)完了後、画像が印刷出力中であっても、次原稿の読取りを開始する「予約コピー」が可能である。

Claims (8)

前記原稿台に配置された原稿束の全原稿の画像の読取が終了し前記区切り処置の指示があるときに、区切り処置を設定するための「直接指定」の入力案内を報知する手段;および、
