Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a depth position-recognizing radiation detector having a plurality of stacked scintillator elements and a common photodetector, and can be used for detecting the depth position of a radiation three-dimensional position detector. The present invention relates to a depth position recognition type radiation detector.
[0002]
[Prior art]
When a radioisotope (RI) is administered to a subject, γ rays are emitted. Nuclear medicine imaging apparatuses such as PET, SPECT, and gamma camera are apparatuses that obtain an RI distribution image in a subject by detecting this radiation.
[0003]
In such a nuclear medicine imaging apparatus, the spatial resolution in the cross section deteriorates in the peripheral region of the effective field of view of the apparatus due to the influence of the length (depth) of the scintillator element of the scintillation detector. Further, in the three-dimensional data collection of a large solid angle / high sensitivity device having a large axial effective field of view, the axial resolution is degraded for the same reason. In the future, in order to further improve the spatial resolution, it is necessary to recognize the reaction position in the detector depth direction.
[0004]
As a radiation three-dimensional position detector used in the nuclear medicine imaging apparatus as described above, a scintillator unit is configured by laminating a plurality of scintillator elements on a photodetector while sandwiching transparent plates having different refractive indexes. A technique for identifying scintillator elements that emit fluorescence when radiation is incident on the basis of the difference in the amount of light received by the photodetectors by changing the transmittance of light reaching the detector for each scintillator element. It is described in Document 1.
[0005]
In addition, a plurality of scintillator elements are stacked on the optical position detector so that the center position thereof is deviated in a direction parallel to the light receiving surface of the optical position detector, and the center of gravity of the spatial distribution of the output light from the optical position
[0006]
Further, as a method for identifying the depth position, it is conceivable to stack different kinds of scintillator elements having different scintillation waveforms and identify the element position by waveform discrimination.
[0007]
Further, a method using an analog correlation between the light emission depth position related to the attenuation and dispersion of light within and between the scintillator elements and the output signal is also conceivable.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the technique described in
[0010]
Also, the method of stacking different types of scintillator elements having different scintillation waveforms and identifying the element position by waveform discrimination is not applicable to detectors composed of the same type of scintillator elements.
[0011]
Further, the method described in Patent Document 1 and the method using the analog correlation between the light emission depth position and the output signal related to the attenuation and dispersion of light within and between the scintillator elements are the optical elements of the scintillator element. There are problems such as being easily affected by subtle variations in physical properties.
[0012]
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described conventional problems, and can be applied to the same type of scintillator element, and provides a depth position recognition technique that is not easily affected by variations in subtle optical properties of the element. The task is to do.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention relates to a depth position recognizing type radiation detector having a plurality of stacked scintillator elements and a common photodetector, and a wavelength region cut for each stage between the stages of the scintillator element. The above-mentioned problems are solved by providing a first wavelength band cut filter having a different wavelength and identifying which stage of the scintillator element emits light based on the wavelength of light reaching a common photodetector. .
[0014]
In addition, a second wavelength band cut filter that is different from the wavelength band cut filter of the other stage is provided at least partly between the scintillator element of the last stage and the photodetector, and the light detection is performed. A scintillator having a plurality of channels corresponding to the number of the second wavelength band cut filters, and identifying which stage of the scintillator element emits light based on a signal ratio between the channels. The effect of the change in the light emission intensity due to the difference in the intensity of the radiation flying in is canceled.
[0015]
In addition, one second wavelength band cut filter is provided, and the photodetector detects two signals corresponding to the presence or absence of the second wavelength band cut filter.
[0016]
In addition, the second wavelength band cut filter is a three-color separation filter, and the photodetector detects three signals corresponding to the respective colors of the three-color separation filter.
[0017]
In the present invention, based on the fact that the emission wavelength spectrum of the scintillator is distributed over a wide range, by inserting a first wavelength band cut filter (optical filter) that transmits only a specific wavelength between the scintillator element layers, The depth position is discriminated by creating a difference in the wavelength spectrum at the time of arrival at the photodetector. Furthermore, if necessary, a second wavelength band cut filter (optical filter) is also disposed at least partly between the scintillator element in the final stage and the photodetector, and as a result, a difference is produced in the detector output signal. At the same time, the influence of the change in the emission intensity due to the difference in the intensity of the radiation flying to the scintillator is canceled.
[0018]

In the above-described embodiments, only the one-dimensional depth direction position is detected. However, by combining the functions of detecting the position in the two-dimensional plane perpendicular to the depth direction, the three-dimensional position is detected. Dimension position detection is also possible.

【Example】
The feasibility of the present invention was verified by the experiment described below. Here, the case of a two-layer scintillator was assumed. As the scintillator, GSO (3 mm × 3 mm × 10 mm) was used, and as the photodetector, an optical spectrometer (USB2000 manufactured by Ocean Optics) was used to confirm the wavelength spectrum. As radiation, diagnostic X-rays (tube voltage 120 kV, tube current 500 mA) were used. Incidentally, in actual nuclear medicine imaging, γ rays are targeted, but there is no significant difference in the emission spectrum, and it was judged that there is no problem in the verification of the present invention. In addition, two types of multi-coat filters (manufactured by Asahi Spectroscopy, long wavelength cut filter (L-filter) SVO450 and short wavelength cut filter (S-filter) LSB450) were used as the wavelength band cut filters. The wavelength characteristics are shown in FIG.
[0038]
FIG. 6 shows a wavelength spectrum measured by the photodetector. The four measurement conditions, short wavelength cut filter only (S-filter), long wavelength cut filter only (L-filter), both filters (S & L-filter), and no filter (wo-filter) are shown in FIG. This corresponds to A2 (f), A1 (n), A1 (f), and A2 (n), respectively. That is, by comparing the integrated signal intensity ratio A1 (f) / A2 (f) (substantially 0 in the figure) and A1 (n) / A2 (n) (substantially 0.5 in the figure), a clear response is obtained. The element can be identified.
[0039]
In the embodiment, GSO is used as the scintillator. However, the types and shapes of the scintillator, the photodetector, and the filter are not limited to those in the embodiment, and other scintillators having a broad spectrum such as BGO and LSO are used. You can also.
[0040]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, even in the same kind of scintillator element, it is possible to recognize the depth position without being affected by the subtle variation in optical properties of the element.
