Abstract
【解決手段】強化部材の一部を、開口106が形成された鉄板105を多数積層した積層構造体102で構成する。この積層構造体102の内部には、中空部分107が形成され、それにより軽量化が計られる。また、マトリックスと接触する面に金属繊維の不織布等で構成される多孔体103を配置し、マトリックスとの密着性を向上させ、強化部材とマトリックスとの剥離を防止する。このような強化部材を用いた軽金属の鋳造製品は、軽量でありながら熱膨張が小さく、たとえばエンジンブロックのジャーナル部に好適である。

Description
図1は、本実施形態の強化部材の概要を示す斜視図である。図2は、図1に示す強化部材を分解した分解斜視図である。強化部材101は、薄い鉄板を重ねた積層構造体102、開口部を塞ぐための鉄板104、多孔体103が互いに焼結により密着した構造を有している。
次に、図1および図2に示す強化部材101の製造方法の一例を説明する。最初に多孔体103の製造方法を説明する。まず、溶湯抽出法によって、鉄材料(SS400)からなる金属繊維(直径40μm)を得た。そしてこの金属繊維を解織機により、目付けが520g/m2であり、繊維配向が面方向においてランダムなウェブを得た。さらにこのウェブをニードルパンチにより、ぺネ数(ニードルパンチの密度)が160本/inch2の不織布(フェルト)に加工して金属繊維の不織布を得、この不織布を6枚重ねて多孔体103を得た。
図3は、本実施形態の強化部材101を用いて製造した鋳造試験体を示す斜視図である。図3の試験体は以下のようにして得た。まず、上述の製造方法によって、強化部材101を得た。図6は、鋳造試験体110中に鋳包まれる強化部材101を構成する鉄板105の寸法を示す上面図である。
図5は、本発明の補強部材を利用した自動車用エンジンブロックの一部である。この例の自動車用エンジンブロックの一部120は、ジャーナル部122を5箇所備えた構造を有している。各ジャーナル部122には、本発明の強化部材121が鋳包まれている。エンジンブロックの一部120は、たとえばアルミニウム合金で構成される。この例の構成によれば、クランク軸を受けるジャーナル部122が強化部材で補強され、しかもその熱膨張率が低減された構造となるので、エンジンの高速回転や過酷な動作に耐える軽量なエンジンブロックが提供される。なお、図示省略してあるが、ジャーナル部122のクランク軸を受ける面には、さらに金属が貼り付けられ、軸受として機能する。
Claims (8)
- 鋳造金属によって鋳包まれる強化部材であって、
前記鋳造金属と異種の材料で構成され、中空部分を備えることを特徴とする強化部材。 - 開口部を有する板状の部材を積層し、前記開口部で構成された中空部を備えた積層構造体と、
前記積層構造体の両面に重ねられた前記開口部を塞ぐための部材と
を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の強化部材。 - 一部または全面が多孔体で覆われていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の強化部材。
- 前記多孔体が金属繊維からなる多孔質繊維材料であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の強化部材。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の強化部材をジャーナル部に用いたことを特徴とするエンジンブロック。
- 鋳造金属によって鋳包まれる強化部材の製造方法であって、
開口部を有する板状の部材を積層する工程と、
その上層および下層に接して前記開口部を塞ぐための板状の部材を重ねる工程と
を備えることを特徴とする強化部材の製造方法。 - 前記強化部材の表面の一部または全面を多孔体で覆う工程を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の強化部材の製造方法。
- 前記多孔体が金属繊維からなる多孔質繊維材料であることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の強化部材の製造方法。
