Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a battery pack, and more particularly, to a battery pack having an assembled battery in which a plurality of secondary batteries are connected and a blower for cooling the assembled battery.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, in consideration of environmental problems, a hybrid vehicle that emits less exhaust gas and an electric vehicle that does not emit exhaust gas have attracted attention. The hybrid vehicle and the electric vehicle are equipped with a battery pack having a secondary battery housed in an outer case in order to supply electric power to the electric motor for traveling.
[0003]
By the way, although the high output is requested | required of the electric motor which drives a vehicle, the secondary battery which can satisfy | fill such a high output alone does not yet exist. Therefore, in a secondary battery that is mounted on the vehicle described above, an assembled battery configured by assembling a plurality of secondary batteries is used.
[0004]
On the other hand, in the secondary battery, it is known that gas such as hydrogen is generated from the inside of the secondary battery due to electrolysis of the battery liquid during charging and discharging. When such a gas is generated, it may cause rupture associated with an increase in the internal pressure of the battery, deterioration of characteristics of the secondary battery due to a chemical reaction with the active material, and the like. There is also a risk of ignition of gas (especially hydrogen). Therefore, a secondary battery in which a substance that absorbs gas is arranged inside the secondary battery is used.
[0005]
Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 8-287964 (Patent Document 1) discloses a sealed nickel-metal hydride battery excellent in internal pressure characteristics. The nickel metal hydride battery described in Patent Literature 1 includes a hydrogen storage alloy arranged to chemically store the hydrogen gas remaining inside the battery.
[0006]
According to the invention described in this publication, the hydrogen storage alloy disposed inside the battery stores the hydrogen gas inside the battery. Therefore, an increase in internal pressure can be mitigated.
[0007]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-31540 (Patent Document 2) discloses a lithium ion secondary battery that prevents generation of water, which is a substance that causes deterioration of characteristics of the lithium ion secondary battery, and has little deterioration. The lithium ion secondary battery described in Patent Document 2 contains a substance that absorbs hydrogen inside the lithium ion secondary battery.
[0008]
According to the invention described in this publication, the substance that absorbs hydrogen absorbs hydrogen inside the battery. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the generation of water caused by the reaction between hydrogen and the positive electrode active material, and to prevent deterioration of the characteristics of the secondary battery.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when an assembled battery is configured using a secondary battery having a gas-absorbing material as described in the above publication, providing a gas-absorbing material for each secondary battery increases the cost and weight accordingly. There was a problem.
[0012]
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a battery pack that absorbs generated gas and suppresses an increase in cost and weight.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A battery pack according to a first aspect of the present invention is a battery pack including a plurality of batteries and an outer case that houses the plurality of batteries. The battery includes a discharge means for discharging gas generated inside the battery into the outer case. The battery pack further includes absorption means for absorbing gas, which is provided outside the battery and inside the outer case.
[0014]
According to the first invention, the gas generated inside the battery is discharged into the outer case by the discharging means. The discharged gas is absorbed by the absorbing member. Thereby, the gas discharged | emitted from the some battery can be absorbed collectively, without providing an absorption member in each of each battery. As a result, it is possible to provide a battery pack that absorbs the generated gas and suppresses an increase in cost and weight.
[0015]
In the battery pack according to the second invention, in addition to the configuration of the first invention, cooling air for cooling the battery flows inside the outer case. The absorbing member is arranged in consideration of the flow of cooling air.
[0016]
According to the second invention, the battery can be cooled by the cooling air flowing inside the exterior case. The absorbing member is arranged in consideration of the flow of cooling air. Therefore, for example, the absorbing member can be arranged so as not to hinder the flow of cooling air. As a result, the battery can be reliably cooled by the cooling air.
[0017]
In the battery pack according to the third aspect of the invention, in addition to the configuration of the second aspect of the invention, the absorbing member is arranged to allow the flow of cooling air.
[0018]
According to the third aspect of the invention, since the absorbing member is disposed so as to allow the flow of the cooling air, it is possible to prevent the cooling air flow from being inhibited by the absorbing member.
[0019]
In the battery pack according to the fourth invention, in addition to the configuration of any one of the first to third inventions, the absorbing means is located above the discharging means.
[0020]
According to the fourth aspect of the invention, the absorbing means is located above the discharging means. As a result, a gas that is lighter than air, such as hydrogen gas, can be efficiently absorbed.
[0021]
In the battery pack according to the fifth invention, in addition to the configuration of any one of the first to fourth inventions, the upper surface of the outer case is inclined, and the absorbing means is provided on the upper inclined side of the upper surface. .
[0022]
According to the fifth aspect, since the upper surface of the exterior case is inclined, a gas lighter than air, such as hydrogen gas, can be collected on the inclined upper side of the upper surface. Here, since the absorbing means is provided on the upper inclined side of the upper surface, the gas is collected around the absorbing member. As a result, the exhausted gas can be collected around the absorbing member and reliably absorbed.
[0023]
In the battery pack according to the sixth invention, in addition to the configuration of any one of the first to fifth inventions, the battery pack further includes a blower for circulating cooling air inside the exterior case. The upper surface of the exterior case is inclined so that the blower side is downward.
[0024]
According to the sixth aspect of the invention, the battery pack further includes a blower for circulating cooling air inside the outer case, and the upper surface of the outer case is inclined so that the blower side is downward. For this reason, the pressure loss of cooling air can be made uniform. As a result, variations in cooling air can be eliminated and the battery can be cooled uniformly.
[0025]
In addition to the structure of the sixth invention, the battery pack according to the seventh invention includes an inlet provided above the battery and the cooling air inside the outer case so that the cooling air flows into the battery. It further includes a flow path provided to flow downward from above and an outlet provided below the battery so that the cooling air flows out from below the battery. The absorption means is located above the inflow port.
[0026]
According to the seventh invention, the cooling air flows into the upper part of the battery from the inlet provided above the battery. The inflowing cooling air flows through the flow path from the upper side to the lower side in the exterior case. The cooling air that has flowed through the flow path flows out from an outlet provided below the battery. Here, the absorption means is located above the inflow port. Thereby, the absorption means is located above the flow of the cooling air in the exterior case. As a result, the flow of cooling air is not hindered.
[0027]
In the battery pack according to the eighth invention, in addition to the structure of any one of the first to seventh inventions, the gas is hydrogen gas.
[0028]
According to the eighth aspect of the invention, the gas generated inside the battery is hydrogen gas. For this reason, since the discharged | emitted hydrogen gas is absorbed by the absorption member, the danger of ignition of hydrogen gas can be reduced.
[0029]
In the battery pack according to the ninth invention, in addition to the structure of the eighth invention, the absorbing means is a hydrogen storage alloy.
[0030]
According to the ninth invention, the absorbing means is a hydrogen storage alloy. For this reason, hydrogen can be absorbed reliably.
[0031]
