Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor and an electrode exposure detection device used therefor.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As a method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor, for example, a ceramic green sheet having a dielectric material and an electrode group are sequentially stacked on a sheet-like flexible support to form a multilayer structure. A manufacturing method is known in which a body is shredded, fired, and external terminals are attached to obtain a finished multilayer ceramic capacitor.
[0003]
Multilayer ceramic capacitors are extremely demanded for miniaturization and large capacity. As a means to meet that demand, the thickness of the dielectric layer per layer is reduced, the number of stacked layers is increased, and the internal electrode surface is formed to the very minimum in the vertical and horizontal outer dimensions, so that per internal electrode layer can be formed. The area is increased to reduce the size and increase the capacity.
[0004]
However, since the multilayer ceramic capacitor is manufactured through many processes as described above, the internal electrodes set to the minimum of the vertical and horizontal external dimensions of the multilayer ceramic capacitor due to the design, etc. As a result, the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor may be exposed.
[0005]
Multilayer ceramic capacitors with internal electrodes exposed on the side surfaces may cause problems such as, for example, in the external terminal plating step after firing, where electrode exposed portions are plated, causing short-circuit defects between internal electrodes at different potentials. . Further, by absorbing moisture in the air from the electrode exposed portion, the insulation resistance is lowered, and there is a risk of causing an insulation failure.
[0006]
Furthermore, when the multilayer ceramic capacitor is used for high-density mounting, the distance between adjacent components is extremely small. For this reason, when the multilayer ceramic capacitor with the internal electrodes exposed on the side surfaces is used for high-density mounting, there is a risk of causing a short-circuit failure between adjacent components.

[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The subject of this invention is providing the manufacturing method of the multilayer ceramic capacitor which can remove the multilayer ceramic capacitor which the electrode exposed on the side surface in a manufacturing process.
[0009]
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an electrode exposure detection device suitable for carrying out a method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention discloses a method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor and an electrode exposure detection device used therefor.
[0011]
1. Method for Manufacturing Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor The method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor according to the present invention includes a step of detecting unauthorized exposure of internal electrodes of the multilayer ceramic capacitor (referred to as an internal electrode unauthorized exposure detection step).
[0012]
In the internal electrode improper exposure detection step, a voltage is applied between at least one of the external terminals provided on the opposite side ends of the multilayer ceramic capacitor and another side surface different from the both side ends to establish an electrical conduction state. A step of detecting. This internal electrode improper exposure detection step is performed after the ceramic green sheet and the electrode group are laminated to form a laminated structure, the laminated structure is cut, the firing step, and the external terminal forming step. The
[0013]
In general, when manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor, for example, a misalignment in the step of forming the multilayer structure, a misalignment in the step of cutting the multilayer structure, or a firing process due to variation in the reduction ratio of the ceramic material There may be a problem that the internal electrode is exposed on the side surface due to a positional shift or the like.
[0014]
In the method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor according to the present invention, in the internal electrode improper exposure detection step, at least one of the external terminals provided on opposite side ends of the multilayer ceramic capacitor and another side surface different from the side ends. A voltage is applied between them.
[0015]
If the internal electrode is exposed on the side surface, the side surface where the internal electrode is exposed and the external terminal connected to the exposed internal electrode are in a conductive state. By detecting the electrical continuity between at least one of the two, it can be confirmed that a problem that the internal electrode is exposed on the side surface is generated.
[0016]
On the other hand, when the internal electrode is not exposed on the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor, the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor and the external terminal are in a non-conductive state. Therefore, at least one of the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor and the external terminal By detecting the electrical continuity between the two, it can be confirmed that there is no problem that the internal electrode is exposed on the side surface.
[0017]
Therefore, it is possible to select a multilayer ceramic capacitor with an electrode exposed on the side surface and a multilayer ceramic capacitor with no electrode exposed on the side surface, and remove the multilayer ceramic capacitor with the electrode exposed on the side surface from the manufacturing process. The product can be prevented from entering the market.
[0018]
Examples of the method for detecting the conductive state or the non-conductive state include a method of detecting a current flowing from the side surface where the internal electrode is exposed to the external terminal connected to the exposed internal electrode. As another method, for example, a method of detecting a voltage or impedance between the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor and at least one of the external terminals may be used.
[0019]
2. Electrode Exposure Detection Device An electrode exposure detection device according to the present invention is an electrode exposure detection device that detects unauthorized exposure of internal electrodes of a multilayer ceramic capacitor, and includes a first probe, a second probe, a voltage source, And a continuity detecting device.
[0020]
The first probe is brought into contact with the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor. The second probe is brought into contact with the external terminal of the multilayer ceramic capacitor. The voltage source and the continuity detection device are connected between the first probe and the second probe.
[0021]
The electrode exposure detection apparatus according to the present invention described above includes a first probe, a second probe, a voltage source, and a continuity detection apparatus, and the first probe is brought into contact with the side surface of the multilayer ceramic capacitor. The second probe is brought into contact with the external terminal of the multilayer ceramic capacitor. The voltage source and the continuity detection device are connected between the first probe and the second probe.
[0022]
According to the above-described electrode exposure detection device, in the internal electrode improper exposure detection process of the multilayer ceramic capacitor, the first probe and the second probe are used to be provided on opposite side ends of the multilayer ceramic capacitor. It is possible to detect an electrical conduction state between at least one of the external terminals and another side surface different from both side ends.
[0023]
Other features of the present invention and the operational effects thereof will be described in more detail by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, the attached drawings are merely examples.
