BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fuel reformer that adds hydrogen and steam to raw fuel and causes partial oxidation and steam reforming to be performed simultaneously under the action of a catalyst to generate a hydrogen-rich fuel gas.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the reforming method of reforming raw fuel into hydrogen-rich fuel gas, water is added to the raw fuel and heated, and the generated steam fuel gas is reformed into hydrogen-rich fuel gas with the help of a catalyst. Combined with this steam reforming method and steam reforming method, water is added to the raw fuel to vaporize it, and air is added to the fuel gas to partially oxidize it, and reforming to a hydrogen-rich fuel gas with the help of the catalyst There is an auto thermal reforming method.
[0003]
Among such reforming methods, the autothermal reforming method performs a so-called internal combustion-type exothermic reaction, so that it is not necessary to apply heat from the outside. Therefore, the apparatus itself can be simplified and the time until the rating is reached. It is short and is being adopted more and more in favor of electric vehicles and portable power generators.
[0004]
In this autothermal reforming method, for example, when alcohol is used as a raw fuel, the following reaction is performed.
[0005]
The steam reforming reaction represented by the formula (1) and the partial oxidation reaction represented by the formula (2) are simultaneously performed, and the reaction represented by the formula (3) is performed as a whole.
[0006]
[Chemical 1]
Here, formula (1) is an endothermic reaction, and formulas (2) and (3) are exothermic reactions.
[0007]
As described above, since the autothermal reforming method performs an exothermic reaction as shown by the above formula (3), there is no need to apply heat from the outside, and it has the convenience that the entire apparatus can be made compact.
[0008]
In addition, as inventions that attempt to reduce the size of the apparatus by using the autothermal reforming method, for example, JP 2000-84410 A (see Patent Document 1), JP 2000-208426 A (see Patent Document 2), and the like. It is disclosed.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, the autothermal reforming method is excellent in mobility with downsizing of the apparatus. For example, when liquid fuel such as isopropyl alcohol or kerosene is used as a raw fuel, the risk of carbon deposition is low, which is preferable. Although it is a reforming technique, a temperature difference distribution tends to occur from the inlet side to the outlet side in the reforming catalyst layer filled in the reformer, and a good reforming state is not always maintained.
[0012]
The autothermal reforming method is a steam reforming reactor in which, for example, when liquid fuel such as naphtha or kerosene is used as raw fuel, unreacted raw fuel components flow out from the reformer outlet and are installed downstream. Liquefaction is caused inside each of the thermal equipment that operates at a lower temperature than the autothermal reactor, such as a carbon monoxide shift reactor and a carbon monoxide selective oxidation reactor, and the carbon monoxide reaction is hindered. Inconveniences and inconveniences such as destroying the catalyst to be promoted occurred.
[0013]
In response to these problems, trial and error were repeated, contrivances and improvements were made, and several devices such as a heat exchanger were attached, but as a result, the device configuration was complicated and increased in size. In other words, it was far from the compactness of the device itself, which was the final intention.
[0014]
Also, when gaseous fuel is used as the raw fuel, problems such as liquid fuel do not occur, but the reactor when performing partial oxidation of the raw fuel becomes larger than the reactor when performing steam reforming, There was still a problem that could not be made compact.
[0015]
In addition, in the case of the gaseous fuel, there is a problem that unreacted components flow out from the reforming catalyst outlet as in the case of the liquid fuel, thereby deteriorating the reaction efficiency.
[0016]
The present invention has been made based on such circumstances, and suppresses the flow of unreacted raw fuel components from the outlet of the reformer, downsizes the reforming reactor itself, and stabilizes from the raw fuel for a long time. It is an object of the present invention to provide a fuel reformer that can generate a hydrogen-rich reformed fuel gas.

[0051]
In addition, if the liquid raw fuel gas is allowed to flow upward with the space above the reforming catalyst layer, the fuel reforming catalyst is floated by the gas flow, the fuel reforming catalyst is destroyed, and the powder It may become. When pulverization occurs, a pressure loss of the fuel reforming catalyst layer occurs and the reforming reaction rate deteriorates. In particular, in the case of an autothermal reforming reaction, the flow rate of the raw fuel gas is at least 5 times the flow rate of the steam reforming reaction. Therefore, when the raw fuel is caused to flow through the space of the fuel reforming catalyst layer, the fuel reforming catalyst. Is likely to float and is likely to powder.
