近年、カーナビゲーションシステム、PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)、ノートパソコン等に、携帯電話、PHS(Personal Handyphone System)等を接続することにより、ユーザが、任意の場所からインターネット接続するケースが増えてきている。
【0004】
大容量のコンテンツをより高速で無線伝送する方式としては、無線LANシステムやDSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication;狭帯域無線通信)が知られている。
かかる方法の一つとして、Mobile IPv6(例えば、非特許文献1参照)がある。

A:
ii)出発地を含む地図メッシュの経度≧切り出したエリアに含まれる任意の地図メッシュの経度≧目的地を含む地図メッシュの経度;
B:
ii)出発地を含む地図メッシュの経度≦切り出したエリアに含まれる任意の地図メッシュの経度≦目的地を含む地図メッシュの経度;

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a car navigation system capable of internet communication, and more particularly, to a route search method that enables reduction of internet communication charges, improvement of communication quality, and increase of communication speed.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, by connecting a mobile phone, a PHS (Personal Handyphone System), etc. to a car navigation system, PDA (Personal Digital Assistants), a notebook personal computer, etc., users are increasingly connected to the Internet from any place. . For example, in the mobile information communication system shown in FIG. 20A as the prior art, it is possible to connect to the Internet by connecting the
[0003]
On the other hand, a large amount of content such as map information for navigation systems or music and / or video data can be used in ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) or FTTH (Fiber To The Home) as in home use. There is an increasing demand for use in a representative broadband environment. Conventionally, since it takes time to download this type of large-capacity content with a communication device with a relatively low communication speed such as a mobile phone or PHS, the user stores it in a storage medium such as a CD, DVD, or HDD. I used it in my car. However, since such a storage medium cannot freely update, add, and / or delete information, there is a problem that stored information becomes obsolete earlier than the life of the vehicle.
[0004]
Wireless LAN systems and DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) are known as methods for wirelessly transmitting large-capacity content at a higher speed. As is well known, a wireless LAN system is a communication system that can be connected to an internal network or the Internet through an access point. Therefore, the user wirelessly uses, for example, 2.4 GHz band radio waves from the user's own information terminal to an access point installed indoors such as a home, office or store, or outdoors such as a utility pole. By connecting with, Internet communication becomes possible. On the other hand, DSRC is a method that enables high-speed transmission of information within a limited area around the base station by using, for example, a radio wave of 5.8 GHz band. (Automatic toll collection system) etc. Since wireless LAN, DSRC, etc. are narrow but high speed, using such a wireless transmission method, map information for navigation systems, or large-capacity content such as music and / or video data can be stored in the vehicle. Is being considered by telecommunications carriers, car manufacturers, and in-vehicle equipment vendors.
[0005]
As a conventional car navigation system capable of internet communication, for example, there is one disclosed in

In this way, when the vehicle is in a wireless LAN or DSRC service area, it is preferentially connected to the Internet via an access point or DSRC, so that a large capacity can be obtained without going through a CD or DVD storage medium. The content can be taken into the in-vehicle device in a short time.
[0011]
Currently, wireless LAN access points (so-called hot spots) installed indoors at stations, airports, convenience stores, hamburger shops, etc., or outdoors such as utility poles, are used experimentally or in actuality for Internet communication. It is starting to be offered as a service. Therefore, for example, if a user registers in advance with a telecommunications carrier providing such a service, the user can easily connect to the Internet using only a laptop computer and a wireless LAN card.
[0012]
However, for switching between connected communication media (for example, switching from a mobile phone to a wireless LAN) or handover between wireless LAN access points, the in-vehicle device dials up each time switching or handover is performed. It is necessary to perform user authentication and IP address assignment work. In addition, ESS-ID (Extended Service Set ID) for connecting to an access point and setting of a common key used for encryption are usually different for each access point.
[0013]
In order to enable seamless connection to the Internet, currently, in the field of network technology, based on the IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) specifications, IPv6 mobility (in-progress communication is maintained and the same IP address is maintained. A method for realizing the ability to change the access point while using the address has been proposed. One such method is Mobile IPv6 (see Non-Patent

[0015]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Wireless LAN systems are wireless, high-speed, and the cost of installing a base station is cheaper than installing a mobile phone base station, so that the demand for in-vehicle communication systems will increase in the future. It is expected that. Therefore, it is predicted that the number of installed wireless LAN access points will also increase sequentially starting from places with high traffic such as highways, service areas, and main roads.
[0016]
On the other hand, wireless LAN access points are not comprehensively installed near all roads nationwide, so even if the shortest route to the destination is calculated by the navigation system, the route is always mobile. There may be cases where only a telephone can be used. In such a case, depending on the user, it may be possible to make a detour, so it may be desired to use a route that allows a high-speed connection service.
[0017]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances. That is, the present invention provides a car navigation system capable of Internet communication when Internet communication via a plurality of communication media such as a wide-area low-speed mobile phone and a narrow-area high-speed wireless LAN (or DSRC) is possible. An object of the present invention is to provide a method, system, and apparatus for calculating a route in which as many wireless LAN (or DSRC) access points as possible exist in order to realize use of high-speed communication and reduction of communication charges. And
[0018]
Furthermore, an object of the present invention is to provide a system that can perform seamless communication using the same IP address even from a moving vehicle, obtain stable communication quality, and is easy to use for a user.
[0019]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The vehicle route selection apparatus according to the present invention includes a departure point setting unit for setting a departure point, a destination setting unit for setting a destination, and access point related information including at least a geographical position of a wireless LAN access point An access point data acquisition unit for acquiring a map data acquisition unit for acquiring map information, a departure point set by the departure point setting unit, a destination set by the destination setting unit, Based on the access point related information acquired by the access point data acquisition unit and the map information acquired by the map data acquisition unit, a route with more wireless LAN access points in the route to the destination is given priority. And a route selection unit for selecting the route. When the vehicle travels on the route selected by the route selection device of the present invention, the user on the vehicle side can use more communication using the wireless LAN system while the vehicle is traveling. As a result, use of high-speed communication and reduction of communication charges can be realized.
[0020]
In one preferred embodiment, after selecting a plurality of routes as candidates based on one or a plurality of evaluation values, the route selection unit prioritizes a route having the largest number of wireless LAN access points among the plurality of routes. Elected to. When there are a plurality of routes having the largest number of wireless LAN access points, the route selection unit may select a route having the shortest route length from the departure point to the destination.
[0021]
In another preferred embodiment, the map data acquisition unit acquires data of an area on a map including a starting point and a destination as map mesh data including a plurality of map meshes. The route selection unit uses the acquired map mesh data to extract a plurality of map mesh selection patterns from the departure point to the destination, and among the extracted map mesh selection patterns, the wireless LAN access point is the most present. The map mesh selection pattern to be selected is preferentially selected, and the route is calculated from the preferentially selected map mesh selection pattern. When there are a plurality of map mesh selection patterns having the largest number of wireless LAN access points, the route selection unit may select a map mesh selection pattern with the shortest route length from the departure point to the destination. According to this embodiment, in addition to the advantage that communication by a high-speed narrow area wireless LAN system can be used to the maximum, it is not necessary to search for a plurality of routes and calculate the number of access points for each of the routes. There is an advantage that the calculation processing load in the search can be reduced.
[0022]
In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the route selection unit uses a combination of an evaluation value based on the number of wireless LAN access points existing in the route and one or more evaluation values based on other criteria as a route evaluation value. Use to select a route. Examples of evaluation values based on other criteria include evaluation values based on link length. According to this embodiment, in addition to realizing high-speed communication and reduction in communication charges, it is relatively easy to use a conventional Dijkstra method or a route search method according to a route in which more wireless LAN access points exist. Can be elected.
[0023]
The vehicle route selection apparatus of the present invention may include an access point data storage unit that stores in advance access point related information including at least the geographical position of the wireless LAN access point. In this case, the access point data acquisition unit can acquire access point related information from the access point data storage unit.
[0024]
Further, the access point data acquisition unit may include a communication unit for performing Internet communication. In this case, the access point related information can be acquired from an external server that is communicably connected to the Internet via a communication unit for performing Internet communication.
[0025]
In addition, the access point data acquisition unit may include a communication unit for performing wireless communication with the wireless LAN access point. In this case, the access point related information can be acquired from an access point related information storage unit provided in the wireless LAN access point via a communication unit for performing wireless communication with the wireless LAN access point. In these embodiments, even when the information of the access point related information storage unit of the external server database or the wireless LAN access point is updated, the route selection device uses the updated access point related information for route selection. It can be used quickly.
[0026]
The vehicle route selection apparatus of the present invention further includes a communication unit for performing wireless communication with the wireless LAN access point, and a route guide unit for performing route guidance based on the route selected by the route selection unit. Also good. In this case, the route guidance unit further includes a display unit for displaying the route selected by the route selection unit, and the wireless LAN communication unit connected to the wireless LAN access point when the wireless LAN communication unit is communicating with the wireless LAN access point. A display control unit for controlling the display unit to display information including at least one of a LAN access point, a communication fee, and a communication speed. Thereby, the user can easily confirm the communication medium, the communication fee, the communication speed, and the like to which the route selection device is connected while the route guidance is performed.
[0027]
In another aspect of the present invention, a route information distribution device that distributes route information to a terminal device mounted on a vehicle is provided. This route information distribution device includes a communication unit that transmits / receives data to / from a terminal device, a map data acquisition unit for acquiring map data, and access point related information including at least a geographical position of a wireless LAN access point An access point data acquisition unit for acquiring information, information on the departure point and destination acquired from the terminal device via the communication unit, access point related information acquired by the access point data acquisition unit, and a map data acquisition unit And a route selection unit that preferentially selects a route having more wireless LAN access points among routes to the destination based on the acquired map information. The route information distribution device distributes the route selected by the route selection unit to the terminal device. According to this route information distribution device, there is no need to include a map data storage unit, an access point data storage unit, a route calculation unit, etc. in the terminal device mounted on the vehicle. The load can be reduced, and as a result, communication costs can be reduced and high-speed communication can be realized.
[0028]
In yet another aspect of the present invention, a route selection method for a vehicle is provided. The method includes a step of setting a departure point, a step of setting a destination, a step of acquiring access point related information including at least a geographical position of the wireless LAN access point, a step of acquiring map information, and a setting Based on the set departure point, the set destination, the acquired access point related information, and the acquired map information, the route to which there are more wireless LAN access points among the routes to the destination Preferentially electing. When the vehicle travels on the route selected by this method, it is possible to improve the communication speed and reduce the communication cost when the traveling vehicle performs wireless communication.
[0029]
In still another aspect of the present invention, a computer program for causing a computer included in the route selection device to execute the route selection method for a vehicle is provided.
[0030]

With the route search method described above, communication using a wireless LAN is increased when the vehicle moves to the destination, so that high-speed communication and communication charges can be reduced. In addition, since the user only has to travel on the calculated route, no user operation during the movement occurs and it can contribute to safe driving.

[0047]
Here, the latitude or longitude of the map mesh means the latitude or longitude of one of the four corners (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) of the rectangular map mesh. Since the departure point and the destination may be included in the same map mesh, an equal sign (=) is added below the inequality sign (<or>). In addition, the selection method of the area which satisfy | fills the conditions of said A-D is an illustration, As long as the origin and the destination are included and the area with the limited geographical range is selected, other selection methods are used. [0048]
5A to 5D show representative examples of areas cut out so as to include the map mesh including the starting point and the map mesh including the destination, and satisfy the conditions A to D described above. Reference numerals (A) to (D) in FIG. 5 correspond to cases where the conditions A to D are satisfied, respectively. In this example, a total of nine rectangular map meshes are included in each cut out area. For convenience, the map meshes are drawn with a uniform size, but the size of each map mesh may be non-uniform.
[0049]
Furthermore, FIGS. 6A to 6D are representative examples of cut out areas in the case where the mesh including the departure place and the mesh including the destination have the same latitude or the same longitude in the conditions A to D described above. For example, in FIG. 6A, in the above condition A, when the latitude of the map mesh including the departure point is the same as the latitude of the map mesh including the destination (in condition A (i), all are equal signs (=)). Corresponds to the case).
[0050]
Next, in step S22 of FIG. 4, a map mesh selection pattern (s) for reaching the mesh including the destination from the mesh including the starting point is selected from the read map mesh (s). And temporarily stored in a RAM (not shown) of the control unit 111. Here, regarding how to select map meshes in the map mesh selection pattern, the same mesh is not selected more than once in one selection pattern, and at least the total number of meshes to be selected is included in the cut out area However, the number of meshes to be selected per pattern may be limited in advance or the total number of meshes to be selected is the minimum necessary. You may make it choose so that it may become. In addition, when an area is cut out as shown in FIGS. 6A to 6D, there is only one map mesh selection pattern selected in step S22.
[0051]
Next, in step S23, it is determined whether or not the number of selected map mesh selection patterns is one. When the number is one (S23: Yes), a route is calculated from the selected map mesh selection pattern ( In S26, the calculated route is output as a candidate (S27). On the other hand, if there are a plurality of map mesh selection patterns selected in step S23 (S23: No), the number of access points is calculated for all map mesh selection patterns (S24), and the maximum number of access points is determined in step S25. It is determined whether or not there is one map mesh selection pattern having “S”, and when there is one (S25: Yes), a route is calculated from the map mesh selection pattern (S26), and the calculated route is output as a candidate. In order to simplify the description, six types of map mesh selection patterns are shown in FIG. 8, but here, the upper left corner of the mesh 319 (lower right of 315) and the upper left corner of the mesh 315 (lower right of 311). ) Corners, plus the upper left corner of mesh 316 (lower right of 312), the upper left corner of mesh 318 (lower right of 314), and the minimum number of meshes to select. It is assumed. Conversely, when a road passes through the above four places (for example, when a node exists in any of the above four places), 319-315-311, 319-316-312-311, and 319-318-314. Map mesh selection patterns such as -311, 319-316-315-311 and 319-315-314-311 are also possible.
[0055]
The route search methods shown in FIGS. 4 to 8 do not need to search for a plurality of routes and calculate the number of access points for each of them compared to the route search method described with reference to FIG. This has the advantage that the processing load associated with the route search can be reduced.
[0056]
FIG. 9 is a flowchart showing the processing operation performed by the control unit 111 of the in-vehicle device 11 when searching for a route having the maximum access point by a method different from the route searching method described in FIGS. is there. Hereinafter, the route calculation processing operation of the control unit 111 will be described with reference to FIG.
[0057]
First, when the in-vehicle device 11 receives a user's route search request, the process of FIG. 9 starts. Here, the user's route search request may be a result of switching to the route search mode in the
[0058]
Next, in step S31, the control unit 111 refers to the map
[0059]
In the Dijkstra method or a route search method similar to it, the link is usually set so that the total link cost in the route is minimized and the route to the destination is set, so a route with as many access points as possible is selected. The cost calculation function to be used for this purpose is a function that reduces the cost as the number of connectable access points existing along the link increases (for example, a function representing an inverse proportion). For example, a cost calculation function as shown in FIG. 10B is used. Further, the cost calculation function used for the shortest path search is a function (for example, a function indicating a proportionality) in which the cost increases as the link length increases. For example, a cost calculation function as shown in FIG. 11A. The link cost of the combination is calculated by adding, for example, the cost value according to the number of access points obtained using these cost calculation functions and the cost value according to the link length. If the cost calculation function based on the number of access points is as shown in FIG. 10B and the cost calculation function based on the link length is as shown in FIG. 11A, the above added cost value. The function for deriving is, for example, a function as indicated by a solid line in FIG. 11B. (Here, the solid line graph in FIG. 11B shows the cost value obtained from the cost calculation function based on the access point (dashed line graph) and the cost value obtained from the cost calculation function based on the link length (dotted line graph)). In step S31, a route search is performed using the Dijkstra method or a route search method according to the combined link cost. In the diagrams shown in FIGS. 10B, 11A, and 11B, the vertical axis and the horizontal axis both take positive values.
[0060]
In step S32, n routes are calculated as a result of the route search, and are temporarily stored in a RAM (not shown) of the control unit 111. Here, n is an integer of 1 or more. Note that n is usually a number determined by the input destination and the current position of the vehicle, available map data, a route search program to be used, etc., but is a number arbitrarily set in advance by the user or the device. It can be. Next, in step S33, the calculated n routes are output to the
[0061]
In the above, an example in which the cost value of the combination is used for calculating the net link cost in step S31 has been described. However, the link cost calculated only from the number of access points may be used for the route search. . Moreover, in the above, the combination of the cost value according to the number of access points and the cost value according to the link length is described, but the combination is not intended to limit the combination, and the cost value according to the number of access points and Any combination with one or a plurality of further evaluation values (for example, road type, road width, number of lanes, right / left turn at intersection, presence / absence of traffic light, etc.) may be used. The link cost calculation functions shown in FIGS. 10B, 11A, and 11B are not intended to be limited to these, and other appropriate functions (for example, exponential functions, quadratic functions, etc.) depending on the user's usage, etc. Function).
[0062]
FIG. 10A shows a representative example of the data structure of the link (road) included in the map
[0063]
The cost value of the link may be stored in the map
[0064]
The data structure of the link shown in FIG. 12A is a modified data structure of FIG. 10A. In FIG. 12A, “average communication bandwidth” is described instead of “number of adjacent access points” in FIG. 10A. This average communication bandwidth is obtained by integrating the size of the communication bandwidth used by the vehicle over time when the vehicle continuously travels from one end of the link to the other while communicating over the Internet. , Divided by the time taken to travel the link. In the cellular phone currently in general use, the communication band is about 9600 bps to 384 kbps, whereas in a wireless LAN or the like, a communication band on the order of Mbps is possible (for example, 54 Mbps in IEEE802.11a or IEEE802.11g). , 11 Mbps in IEEE 802.11b). Therefore, the average communication bandwidth increases as the number of wireless LAN access points on the link increases.
[0065]
As shown in FIG. 12B, the cost calculation function in this case is a function such that the cost decreases as the average communication bandwidth increases. The cost value obtained in this way is used as described above in step S31 of FIG. 9, and the average communication band is as large as possible (ie, the number of access points) using the Dijkstra method or a route search method similar thereto. Search for a route. In the operation processing of the control unit 111 for the route search method using the link data and the cost calculation function shown in FIG. 12A and FIG. 12B, the route search is performed using the average communication bandwidth as the cost instead of the access point in S31 of FIG. Other than this, the configuration is the same as that described above with reference to FIG. Also, the vertical axis and the horizontal axis of the graph shown in FIG. 12B both take positive values, and the functions are not limited to those described there.
[0066]

In the above-described embodiment, the mobile phone 112 (or 122) and the wireless LAN transmission / reception unit 113 (or 123) are shown as independent components, but the mobile phone 112 (or 122) has a wireless LAN transmission / reception unit. 113 (or 123) may be incorporated. In this case, it may not be sufficient to cover the power consumption used for wireless LAN transmission / reception with the built-in battery of the mobile phone. ) To supply power. Alternatively, it may be controlled to permit use of the wireless LAN only when power is supplied from the in-vehicle battery to the mobile phone.

Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, it has been described that the in-vehicle device 11 switches to wireless LAN communication when entering the communication area of the wireless LAN access point during communication using the
[0090]
On the other hand, the representative access point database shown in FIG. 2 includes an ESS-ID and an encryption common key (hereinafter referred to as “connection parameter”), but the in-vehicle information communication shown in FIG. In the case of the in-vehicle device 11 in the system, it is desirable that the connection parameter is not received directly from the access point, but is previously received from another secure communication path and stored in the access point
[0091]
Also, link the connection parameters and route results, and prepare the connection parameters in advance when the next access point scheduled for connection approaches so that communication can be performed across multiple access points even while the vehicle is moving, When the communication area of the next access point is entered, the time required for handover can be shortened by controlling the connection parameter to be switched from the old one to the new one immediately.
[0092]
Furthermore, if authentication processing is performed in advance using a mobile phone as described above, authentication processing can be omitted when connection is made from an access point existing in the middle of the route.
[0093]
Here, the connection parameter is the ESS-ID and the encryption common key, but is not limited to this, and any parameter that realizes a mechanism in which an unauthorized user cannot connect to the access point may be used.
[0094]
【The invention's effect】
The vehicle route selection apparatus of the present invention can preferentially select a route with more wireless LAN access points among routes to a destination by using access point related information for route search processing. . When the vehicle travels on the route selected by the route selection device of the present invention, the user on the vehicle side can use more communication using the wireless LAN system while the vehicle is traveling. As a result, use of high-speed communication and reduction of communication charges can be realized.
