Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a router and a packet routing method used for the router, and more particularly to a router that performs routing of an IP (internet protocol) packet and a packet routing method used for the router.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As an example of this type of technology, a buffer is newly provided, and packets that could not be routed by the routing control means are temporarily saved in this buffer to absorb data overflow and discard data (packets). And a packet switching method for preventing the generation of a congestion wave in the entire network (see Patent Document 1).
[0003]
As another example, a technique for bypassing packets in units of flows is disclosed. This is to distribute packets to a plurality of routes based on the load balancing ratio (see Patent Document 2).
[0004]
Further, as another example, a technique is disclosed in which packets are transmitted in the order of transmission request without identifying the data flow of the packet when it is not in a congested state. This means that a packet waiting for transmission corresponding to a data flow is transmitted according to the communication quality of the data flow when transmission is possible. Specifically, a real-time data flow is preferentially transmitted during congestion (see Patent Document 3).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the technique described in
[0009]
On the other hand, the technique described in Patent Document 2 is a technique for bypassing packets in units of flows. However, this technique only shows the ratio of distributing packets to a plurality of routes. Normally, a specific route of the present invention is used, but when the transmission bandwidth exceeds a certain threshold value, The object, configuration, action, and effect are completely different from those that are bypassed.
[0010]
The technique described in Patent Document 3 is a technique for managing packets in units of data flows in a congested state. However, this technology only gives priority to a real-time data flow during congestion, and does not divert the data flow to another route during congestion. Therefore, this technique is completely different from the present invention in all of the objects, configurations, functions, and effects.
[0011]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a case where there is a difference in the usable bandwidth between the packet input side interface and the output side interface, and the data amount of the input packet exceeds the usable bandwidth of the output side interface. Another object of the present invention is to provide a router capable of transmitting packets to another output interface in units of flows and a packet routing method used for the router.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The router according to the present invention is a router that performs packet routing, and identifies an input packet in units of flow when a use band based on a data amount of a transmission packet is equal to or more than a first threshold. Including forwarding control means for sending the message to an interface different from the normal one.
[0013]
The packet routing method according to the present invention is a packet routing method used for a router, and identifies an input packet by a flow unit when the used bandwidth according to the data amount of the transmitted packet exceeds the first threshold. Including a forwarding control step of sending a packet of a different flow to an interface different from a normal one.
[0014]
That is, the present invention has the above-described configuration, so that even when the data amount of the input packet exceeds the usable bandwidth of the output side interface, the packet is transmitted to another output interface in units of flows. Is possible.
[0015]
According to the present invention, in a router for routing IP packets, when packet routing is performed, there is a difference in usable bandwidth between an input / output interface and a packet input side interface, for example, 100BASE-TX, and a packet output side interface, for example, 10BASE-T. Yes, when the data amount of the input packet exceeds the usable bandwidth of the output side interface and the packet is discarded due to insufficient transmission bandwidth, the input packet is identified by flow unit By providing a function of sending a packet of a flow to another interface, it is possible to bypass the flow unit.
[0016]
In FIG. 1, the threshold setting unit 6 forwards the bandwidth monitoring unit 4 when the bandwidth used by the data amount of packets sent to the

The forwarding control unit 2 normally transmits all transmission packets to the

Further, the forwarding control unit 2 stops the flow identification when there is no flow identification and detour instruction for the identified flow unit from the bandwidth monitoring unit 4, and sends all transmission packets to the

Therefore, the forwarding control unit 2 is based on the identification information in the IP header set by the identification flow setting unit 2 while the data amount by the transmission packet for the

Further, since detouring is possible in units of flows, there is an effect that the problem that the arrival order of the packets is switched when the packet reaches the transmission destination does not occur.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, when the bandwidth used according to the data amount of the transmitted packet exceeds the first threshold, the input packet is identified in units of flow, and the packet of the identified flow is separated from the normal one. Since the forwarding control means and the forwarding control step for sending to the interface are provided, even if the data amount of the input packet exceeds the usable bandwidth of the output side interface, the packet is sent to another output interface for each flow. Can be sent to.
[0057]
More specifically, the first effect is that the router that performs IP packet routing inputs and outputs 100 BASE-TX for the packet input side interface and 10 BASE-T for the packet output side interface when performing packet routing. Even when there is a difference in usable bandwidth between interfaces and the amount of input packet data exceeds the usable bandwidth of the output interface, packets may be sent to another output interface in units of flows. Therefore, packet discarding in the router due to insufficient transmission bandwidth is suppressed.
[0058]
The second effect is that detouring by output to another interface can be performed in units of flows, and thus the problem of switching the packet arrival order at the packet destination that occurs when detouring in units of packets is eliminated.
[0059]
The third effect is that a packet is dynamically sent to a bypass route by flow identification, and therefore, when a packet is bypassed, no packet transmission delay occurs in the bypass packet.
