Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a probe needle processing grinding apparatus for forming, by grinding, a probe needle used in a probe card or the like for inspecting a semiconductor chip such as an LSI.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, such a
[0003]
However, in the preparation of the probe needle by such an electrolytic etching process, since the etching solution is stirred, a wave of the etching solution is generated or the etching solution is deteriorated with time. Therefore, the machining accuracy cannot be made very high and the yield is lowered. Therefore, in an actual process, manual work by an expert occurs, and the cost increases.
Further, in order to prevent the waste liquid generated in the etching process from adversely affecting the environment, the processing cost becomes high.
Furthermore, in the production of the probe needle by the etching process, the shape of the probe needle that can be formed is limited.
[0004]
On the other hand, a method of forming a probe needle by machining instead of an etching process is also known. In the production of the probe needle by such machining, one end of the probe needle is sharpened like a so-called pencil sharpening. However, since there is a burr after processing, the surface texture accuracy is not good. For this reason, deburring is performed by post-processing by etching using chemicals.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, even in the production of probe needles by such machining, etching problems similarly occur, productivity is low, delivery time is shortened, and accuracy is improved. Therefore, these requests cannot be met. Furthermore, the entire apparatus is increased in size, the occupied floor area is relatively large, and the power consumption is large, resulting in an increase in running cost.
[0006]
In view of the above-described points, the present invention provides a probe needle processing grinding apparatus in which the probe needle is formed by grinding with high accuracy only by machining in order to improve the productivity of the probe needle. The purpose is to provide.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the present invention, the above object is achieved by a holding portion having a chucking mechanism that holds a probe needle to be processed rotatably around its central axis, and a probe needle supported by the holding portion around the central axis. A first drive unit that is rotationally driven, a pair of rotary wheels arranged so as to sandwich the probe needle with respect to the probe needle supported by the holding unit, and a second drive unit that rotationally drives the rotary wheel And the second drive unit is driven by a grinding machine for processing a probe needle, wherein each rotary grindstone is driven to rotate in an arbitrary direction.
[0008]
In the grinding apparatus for processing a probe needle according to the present invention, preferably, the second drive unit rotates and rotates each rotating grindstone in the same direction as the probe needle rotated by the first drive unit.
[0009]
In the grinding apparatus for processing a probe needle according to the present invention, preferably, the second drive unit rotationally drives the rotating grindstones in opposite directions.
[0010]
In the grinding apparatus for processing a probe needle according to the present invention, preferably, the second drive unit rotates in the opposite direction to the probe needle that is rotationally driven by the first drive unit, and rotates each rotating grindstone in the same direction. To drive.
[0011]
In the probe needle processing grinding apparatus according to the present invention, preferably, the second drive unit selects the rotation direction and the rotation speed of each rotating grindstone based on the processing shape of the probe needle to control the rotation drive. Do.
[0012]
In the grinding apparatus for processing a probe needle according to the present invention, the probe needle supported by the holding portion is preferably fitted with a hollow cylindrical jig for preventing bending except for a portion to be processed at the tip. ing.
[0013]
According to the above configuration, the pair of rotating grindstones that are driven to rotate at high speed by the second driving unit are brought into contact with the probe needles to be processed that are held by the holding unit and are driven to rotate by the first driving unit. And grinding. As a result, the probe needle is ground by the rotating grindstone while being sandwiched between the pair of rotating grindstones, so that the probe needle is not bent to one side by the contact force of the rotating grindstone.
Therefore, the processing accuracy of the probe needle is improved, and processing defects such as avatar and shape unevenness are not generated and burrs are not generated as compared with processing by electrolytic etching. Such post-processing is not necessary.
In this way, the entire apparatus can be configured in a small size, the installation area is small, and the power consumption is also small, so the running cost is reduced.
[0014]
When the second drive unit is rotated in the same direction as the probe needle that is rotationally driven by the first drive unit, and accordingly, each rotary grindstone is also rotationally driven in the same direction, the probe needle and each rotary grindstone are all the same. The grinding finish is relatively rough, and the core length of the needle tip is increased, but the processing speed is fast.
[0015]
When the second drive unit drives each rotary grindstone to rotate in opposite directions, the processing speed is slightly reduced, but the grinding finish is good.
[0016]
When the second drive unit is rotated in the opposite direction to the probe needle that is rotationally driven by the first drive unit and each rotary grindstone is rotationally driven in the same direction, the processing speed is further reduced, Grinding finish is the best and higher machining accuracy is obtained.
[0017]
When the second drive unit selects the rotation direction and rotation speed of each rotating grindstone based on the processing shape of the probe needle and performs rotation drive control, By rotating the rotary whetstones in the same direction or in the opposite direction with respect to each other and the probe needle, it is possible to perform grinding suitable for each part of the processing shape of the probe needle, and the overall processing speed is high. It is possible to obtain a highly accurate finish.
[0018]
When the probe needle supported by the holding part is fitted with a hollow cylindrical jig for preventing bending except for the portion to be processed at the tip, the probe needle is rotationally driven by the first driving part. When the rotating grindstone rotated by the second drive unit is brought into contact with the portion to be processed at the tip of the probe needle, almost the entire probe needle is reinforced by the jig to prevent bending. Therefore, the probe needle is not bent by the contact of the rotating grindstone and is not displaced from the central axis, and more accurate grinding can be performed.
[0019]
Thus, according to the grinding device for processing a probe needle according to the present invention, a high-accuracy probe needle can be obtained only by machining without using an electrolytic etching process and without using an etching process as a subsequent process. Can be ground into a desired shape.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the probe needle is ground while being sandwiched between the pair of rotating whetstones, so that it does not bend to one side due to the contact force of the rotating whetstone. Therefore, the processing accuracy of the probe needle is improved, and processing defects such as avatar and shape unevenness are not generated and burrs are not generated as compared with processing by electrolytic etching. Such post-processing is not necessary. Accordingly, the entire apparatus is configured in a small size, requires a small installation area, and further consumes less power, so that the running cost is reduced.
Thus, according to the present invention, in order to improve the productivity of such probe needles, the probe needles can be formed by grinding with high precision only by machining. A grinding device is provided.
