Abstract
Description
【0001】

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the diameter of the optical fiber and the width of the optical waveguide are each about 5 μm, and since the optical waveguide is formed by flowing a chemical solution into the LiNbO3 crystal, a displacement of several tens of μm occurs in the width direction, and the base has a V-shaped unit in μm. In order to form the groove as designed, advanced positioning technology is required. In practice, the optical fiber is connected to the optical waveguide type PPLN element without displacement of the bonding surface of the optical fiber and the optical waveguide. Was very difficult. Then, as a result of the displacement of the bonding surface between the optical fiber and the optical waveguide, the intensity of the light introduced into the optical waveguide is reduced, and high-efficiency wavelength conversion cannot be realized. I couldn't get it. Furthermore, when connecting the optical fiber to the optical waveguide, the adhesive flows into the V-shaped groove of the base, which pushes up the emitting end of the optical fiber and shifts the bonding position, which causes a reduction in coupling efficiency. I was In addition, as described above, forming the V-shaped groove in the base requires a high-level positioning technique, which causes a problem that a burden is imposed on manufacturing costs.
[0007]
By the way, the deflection direction of the optical waveguide is determined in advance from the relationship with the direction of the crystal axis. In order to perform wavelength conversion with high efficiency, the polarization direction of the laser light coincides with the deflection direction of the optical waveguide. Have to be guided. For this reason, conventionally, an expensive polarization maintaining fiber is used to prevent the deflection direction of the laser light passing through the optical fiber from changing, or a part of the optical fiber is bent in a specific direction, and the laser light is bent. It is necessary to correct the deflecting direction, which complicates the manufacturing process and increases the burden of the manufacturing cost.
[0008]
Conventionally, the laser light is focused on the optical fiber core by a lens provided between the semiconductor laser element and the optical fiber. The distance is required, which hinders downsizing of the laser light source.
[0009]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and by improving the transmission efficiency of laser light by an optical fiber, the coupling efficiency between a semiconductor laser device and an optical waveguide type PPLN device has been improved. It is an object of the present invention to provide a laser light source and a laser exposure apparatus capable of realizing wavelength conversion of the above and reducing the size and cost of the apparatus.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A laser light source according to
[0011]
According to this configuration, when the output end of the optical fiber is connected to the input end of the wavelength conversion means, even if a part of the connection adhesive flows into the concave portion even if it dries to the base side, the cylindrical portion of the optical fiber The adhesive can be prevented from being displaced in the bonding position such that the output end of the optical fiber is bonded to the base.
[0012]
A laser light source according to a second aspect of the present invention is the laser light source according to the first aspect, wherein the recess formed in the base is a groove intersecting the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber fixed to the base. It is characterized.
[0013]
According to this configuration, when the output end of the optical fiber is connected to the input end of the wavelength conversion means, even if a part of the connection adhesive flows into the groove even if it dries to the base side, the connection adhesive is used. It is possible to prevent displacement of the bonding position of the output end of the optical fiber due to dripping.
[0014]
The laser light source according to
[0015]
According to this configuration, since the optical fiber is fixed to the base with the fixing adhesive, the positioning of the optical fiber is freely adjusted in accordance with the position of the wavelength conversion means even when the wavelength conversion means is displaced. Thus, the optical fiber can be connected to the optical waveguide with high precision so that the bonding surfaces of the optical fiber and the wavelength conversion means do not shift. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the loss of the laser beam incident on the wavelength conversion unit due to the positional shift of the bonding portion between the optical fiber and the wavelength conversion unit, and to realize highly efficient wavelength conversion by the wavelength conversion unit.
[0016]
In addition, in order to fix the optical fiber to the base using an inexpensive fixing adhesive instead of the V-shaped groove formed on the base, which requires advanced positioning technology and is costly, The manufacturing process can be simplified and the cost can be reduced.
[0017]
In addition, one or a plurality of portions in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber are fixed to the base, and a part of the optical fiber is not fixed, so that the structure becomes strong against impact, and the stability of the device and the life of the product are extended. be able to.
[0018]
The laser light source according to
[0019]
According to this configuration, since the UV-curable epoxy adhesive having a light transmittance of 95% or more is used as the connection adhesive, the incidence rate of the laser light on the wavelength conversion means can be increased, and the wavelength can be increased. Highly efficient wavelength conversion by the conversion means can be realized.
[0020]
A laser light source according to a fifth aspect of the present invention is the laser light source according to the third aspect, wherein the fixing adhesive is a UV-curable acrylic adhesive.
[0021]
According to this configuration, an inexpensive UV-curable acrylic adhesive is used as the fixing adhesive, so that the cost of the apparatus can be reduced.
[0022]
A laser light source according to a sixth aspect of the present invention is the laser light source according to the first aspect, wherein the entire length of the optical fiber is 2 cm or less.
[0023]
According to this configuration, by using an optical fiber of 2 cm or less, the polarization direction of the laser beam can be maintained, high wavelength conversion efficiency can be obtained by the wavelength conversion means, and downsizing and cost reduction of the device can be realized. be able to.
[0024]
The laser light source according to claim 7 of the present invention is the laser light source according to
[0025]
According to this configuration, the laser light emitted from the semiconductor laser element is incident on the optical fiber with high efficiency, and a highly efficient coupling efficiency between the semiconductor laser element and the light modulating means is obtained. This eliminates the need for a lens for condensing the laser light on the optical fiber, thereby realizing downsizing of the laser light source.
[0026]
A laser exposure apparatus according to
[0027]
According to this configuration, the coupling efficiency between the semiconductor laser element and the light modulating means can be improved, and high-power visible light can be obtained. Therefore, high-speed printing can be performed, and a still higher-quality photograph can be obtained.
