例えば、特開2001−12123号公報に記載されているように、従来より車両の盗難を防止する目的でイモビライザ装置が考案され、実用に供されている。イモビライザ装置は、トランスポンダを内蔵したキーと、車載されたエンジンECUとの間で通信を行い、両者の間でIDが照合された場合には、エンジン始動を許可する装置であり、正規のキーを所持したユーザのみが、エンジンを始動させることができるので、車両の盗難を防止することができる。

しかしながら、従来におけるイモビライザ装置では、エンジンECU及びこれに対応するキーを1セットとして取り換えた場合には、正規のキーを所持しない人であってもエンジンを始動させることができるという欠点がある。

以下、本発明の実施形態を図面に基づいて説明する。図1は、本発明の一実施形態に係るイモビライザ装置の構成を示すブロック図である。同図に示すように、該イモビライザ装置100は、ユーザが所持する車両用のキー1と、このキー1を差し込むことによりエンジン始動操作を行うシリンダ2と、該シリンダ2と連結され、エンジンの始動を制御するエンジンECU3とを備えている。
