【0001】

Bytes13−15 PTP/OTP

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an information recording method, an information recording apparatus, an information recording program, and a storage medium that can record information on a recordable information recording medium such as a dual-layer DVD + R (Digital Versatile Disc + Recordable).
[0002]
[Prior art]
There are DVD + R which is a recordable DVD disk and DVD + RW which is a rewritable DVD disk as recordable DVD disks, and these disks are recordable DVD disks having high reproduction compatibility with a single-sided, single-layer read-only DVD disk. Research and development for speeding up and increasing the capacity of such recordable discs have been actively conducted.
[0003]
One of them is a single-sided, dual-layer DVD + R disc (hereinafter, referred to as a “double-layer DVD + R”) having reproduction compatibility with a single-sided, dual-layer read-only DVD disk. The double-layer DVD + R has a recording capacity of 8.4 Gbytes, and the conventional single-layer DVD + R has a recording capacity almost twice that of the data capacity of 4.7 Gbytes. The data can be read by a DVD player or DVD-ROM drive capable of reproducing a read-only DVD disk.
[0004]
Here, a single-sided dual-layer read-only DVD disk has a parallel track path method (Parallel Track Path method = PTP method) in which the tracks of the second layer are directed from the inner periphery to the outer periphery in the same manner as the first layer. There are two types of track systems including an opposite track path system (Opposite Track Path system = OPT system) in which a track of the second layer goes from the outer circumference to the inner circumference. In the PTP method, the radial positions of the addresses where the data areas of the first and second layers start are equal, and both start from the physical address 30000H. After the data area, a lead-out (Lead-out) area is arranged. In the OTP method, the radial position of the address where the data area of the second layer starts is equal to the radial position of the address where the data area of the first layer ends, and the physical address at the start position of the data area of the second layer is the data area of the first layer. The end address is an address obtained by bit inverting the end address. When there is a difference between the size of the data area of the first layer and the size of the data area of the second layer, the difference area becomes a lead-out area. For example, when the end address D1 of the data area of the first layer and the end address D2 of the data area of the second layer in the PTP disk satisfy D1> D2, the difference area D1-D2 becomes a lead-out area. As described above, in an area where data is recorded in one recording layer, data is also recorded in a corresponding area in the second layer. This is because, for example, when the user reproduces the data of the first layer, the data is recorded on the second layer at the same radial position when the read laser happens to be focused on by seeking to the target address and the laser is focused on the second layer. Otherwise, it is possible to avoid a problem that the address information cannot be obtained and a problem that the data of the first layer cannot be reproduced as a result.
[0005]
The logical address in the double-layer DVD is continuously allocated from the start address of the data area of the first layer, and the logical address is continuous from the end address of the data area of the first layer to the start address of the data area of the second layer. ing. That is, when reproducing from a two-layer DVD, the user can perform reproduction without being aware of the recording layer by specifying a reproduction area using a logical address.
[0006]
On the other hand, when performing data recording using a dual-layer DVD + R, the user specifies a recording area using a logical address, as in the reproduction process. Therefore, when the user continuously performs data recording, recording starts from the data area start address of the first layer, and when recording is completed up to the data area end address of the first layer, the data area of the second layer continues. Recording will be performed from the start address. As described above, even in the dual-layer DVD + R recording, the user can perform recording without being conscious of the recording layer.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
For this reason, the data recording of the user may be completed in the middle of the data area of the first layer, and may be completed without recording the data of the second layer at all. In such a recording state, the disc layout becomes incompatible with a read-only DVD disc.
[0008]
In this regard, it is considered that some processing is necessary for the unrecorded second layer. For example, by recording and filling dummy data and read data in the second layer as described later, -Reading by a ROM drive can be made possible (compatibility is provided), but a problem such as recording of dummy data or the like, which takes a long time, is generated.
[0009]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a recording operation for an information recording medium having a plurality of recording layers, in which even if recording is completed in the middle of the data area of the first recording layer, the reproduction time is not increased and The purpose is to maintain compatibility with a dedicated information recording medium.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The invention according to
[0011]
Therefore, when data recording is completed in the middle of the first recording layer, even if the physical structure of the information recording medium is a multi-layer, only the recording of the first recording layer is performed. By recording information regarded as the first recording layer in the first recording layer, the recording of dummy data or the like is not performed on the second recording layer, so that the processing time for the first recording layer is not required. Just by reading the information regarded as the medium, the information can be read by the read-only drive, and the compatibility can be maintained.
[0012]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method according to the first aspect, information regarded as a single-layer medium is stored in a lead-in area (Lead-in Area) of the first recording layer of the information recording medium. It was recorded.
[0013]
Therefore, in the physical format information of the lead-in area, information necessary for the reproducing operation, such as the format conforming to the information recording medium, the disk size, the disk capacity, etc., is recorded, and it is determined that the information recording medium has a multilayer structure. Since the information to be indicated is also stored in the physical format information, even in the case of a multi-layer medium, it is necessary to forcibly record information regarded as a single-layer medium in the lead-in area of the first recording layer. Therefore, when reading by the read-only drive, the information can be read by the read-only drive only by reading the information regarded as the single layer medium, and the compatibility can be maintained.
[0014]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method according to the second aspect, the information regarded as a single-layer medium is information relating to a disc structure included in physical format information of a lead-in area. The data was recorded as the same data as in the case of the layered medium.
[0015]
Therefore, since the physical format information of the lead-in area includes information on the disc structure of a multi-layer / single-layer medium or the like, if recording is completed in the middle of the first recording layer, the information recording medium Even if the physical structure of the medium is multi-layered, the same data as in the case of a single-layer medium is forcibly recorded as a disk structure, so that the information regarded as the single-layer medium can be read at the time of reading by the read-only drive. Only with the read-only drive, reading becomes possible in the same manner as in the case of a single-layer medium, and compatibility can be maintained.
[0016]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method according to the second aspect, the information regarded as a single-layer medium is information related to data zone allocation included in physical format information of a lead-in area. Physical sector number information that has been recorded in the first recording layer and information indicating that the medium is a single-layer medium are recorded.
[0017]
Therefore, since the physical format information of the lead-in area includes not only the information on the disk structure of the multi-layer / single-layer medium or the like but also the information on the data zone allocation, the recording is performed in the middle of the first recording layer. When the recording is completed, even if the physical structure of the information recording medium is a multi-layer, the physical sector number information that has been recorded in the first recording layer, that is, the data size, is recorded as the information relating to the data zone allocation. By recording the information indicating that the medium is a single-layer medium, it is possible to read the information by the read-only drive in the same manner as in the case of the single-layer medium by reading only the information regarded as such when reading by the read-only drive, Compatibility can be maintained.
[0018]
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method according to any one of the first to fourth aspects, the information recording medium is an information recording medium recorded by a parallel track path (PTP) method.
[0019]
Therefore, the present invention can be suitably applied to a PTP type information recording medium.
[0020]
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method according to any one of the first to fourth aspects, the information recording medium is an information recording medium recorded by an opposite track path (OTP) method.
[0021]
Therefore, the present invention can be suitably applied to an information recording medium of the OTP system.
[0022]
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method of the sixth aspect, a lead-out area (Lead-out Area) is recorded in an area subsequent to the physical sector in which recording has been completed in the first recording layer. did.
[0023]
Therefore, in the case of the information recording medium of the OTP system, by performing recording in the lead-out area instead of the intermediate area, it is possible to recognize that the second recording layer does not exist in the read-only drive. Can be reliably ensured.
[0024]
According to an eighth aspect of the present invention, in the information recording method according to any one of the first to seventh aspects, the information recording medium is an information recording medium compliant with the DVD + R standard.
[0025]
Therefore, the present invention can be suitably applied to an information recording medium conforming to the DVD + R standard, in which the presence of an unrecorded area causes a problem in compatibility with a read-only information recording medium having a plurality of recording layers. .

First, FIG. 2 shows a layout example of a read-only DVD disc. 2A is a single-sided single-layer (Single Layer) disk (hereinafter, referred to as a “single-layer disk”), and FIG. 2B is a PTP type single-sided, dual-layer (Dual Layer) disk (hereinafter, a “PTP disk”). ) And FIG. 2C shows the case of a single-sided, dual-layer disc of the OTP system (hereinafter, referred to as an “OTP disc”).
[0037]
A DVD disc basically has an information area (Information Area) including a lead-in area (Lead-in Area), a data area, and a lead-out area (Lead-out Area), and in the case of a single-layer disc and a PTP disc. Has an information area for each recording layer. The OTP disk includes one information area, and has an intermediate area (Middle Area) behind the data area of each recording layer.
[0038]
As shown in FIG. 2B, the start and end addresses of the lead-in area, the start address of the data area, and the end address of the lead-out area in the PTP disk are located at the same radial position, and the start address of the lead-out area, that is, The end address of the data area may be different for each recording layer. If the end address of the data area is different, a lead-out is recorded in the area of the difference.

Here, prior to the description of the features of the present embodiment, for example, a description will be given of a processing example for an unrecorded area that can occur in a dual-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2) with reference to FIGS. First, an example of processing corresponding to an unrecorded area for a two-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2) by the PTP method, for example, which conforms to the layout of a read-only DVD disc, will be described with reference to FIG.
[0041]
First, FIG. 3A shows a layout of a two-layer DVD + R in an unrecorded state where no recording is performed. Each of the recording layers, that is, the first recording layer,

FIGS. 3B to 3B show an example of a corresponding process when the recording of the user data is completed in the middle of the
[0043]
When the recording of the user data is completed as described above, in one example of the corresponding processing, the unrecorded area after the user data recording area is recorded by lead-out as shown in FIG. In this example, since no user data is recorded in the data area of
[0044]
FIG. 3B-2 shows another example of the corresponding processing, in which dummy data having a user data attribute and a lead-out are recorded in a predetermined unrecorded area. As shown in FIG. 3B-2, when no user data is recorded in the second layer, a part of the unrecorded area is recorded with dummy data having a user data attribute, and then a lead-out is recorded. Is also good. Here, if dummy data of the user data attribute is recorded up to the address F, the lead-out is recorded from the addresses F to E. Accordingly, in the case of
[0045]
When the recording of the user data is completed as described above, in still another corresponding processing example, the recording of the user data in the data area of the recording layer is performed as shown in FIG. 3B-3. The area other than the user data recording area is recorded as dummy data having a data attribute. In this example of the corresponding processing, no user data is recorded in the data area of the
[0046]
Next, an example of processing corresponding to a dual-layer DVD + R (optical disk 2) based on the layout of a read-only DVD disk, for example, by the OTP method will be described with reference to FIG.
[0047]
First, FIG. 4A shows a layout of a two-layer DVD + R in an unrecorded state where no recording is performed.
[0048]
FIGS. 4B to 4B show an example of a corresponding process when recording of user data is completed in the middle of layer 0 (first recording layer). FIG. 4B shows that the recording of the user data is completed at the position of the address X of the first layer (layer 0). When the recording of the user data is completed during the recording of the first layer (layer 0), the area from the address X to the address E becomes the intermediate area of the
[0049]
When the recording of the user data is completed as described above, in one corresponding processing example, as shown in FIG. 4B, an unrecorded area after the user data recording area is recorded by lead-out. In this example, since no user data is recorded in the data area of
[0050]
FIG. 4B-2 shows another example of the corresponding processing, in which dummy data having a user data attribute and a lead-out are recorded in a predetermined unrecorded area. When no user data is recorded on the second layer, as shown in FIG. 4B-2, after recording a part of the unrecorded area with dummy data of the user data attribute, the remaining area is recorded. The lead-out may be recorded. Here, if dummy data having the user data attribute is recorded up to the address F ', the lead-out is recorded from the address F' to A '. Therefore, addresses A to B are the lead-in area, addresses B to X are the data area of
[0051]
When the recording of the user data is completed as described above, in still another example of the corresponding processing, the recording of the user data in the data area of the recording layer is performed as shown in FIG. The area other than the user data recording area is set as a predetermined unrecorded area, and in this area, predetermined data = dummy data having a data attribute is recorded. In this example, since no user data is recorded in the data area of the
[0052]
As shown in these corresponding processing examples, if the unrecorded area existing in the data area is recorded with predetermined data, for example, predetermined data such as lead-out or dummy data having a data attribute, the first Even when the data recording of the user is completed in the middle of the data area of the recording layer (layer 0), it is possible to solve the problem caused by the remaining unrecorded area. When data recording is completed without recording any data, it is necessary to fill all the unrecorded areas existing in the data area of the second recording layer (layer 1) with these predetermined data. A problem arises that it takes a long time to fill the area. That is, in order to maintain DVD-ROM compatibility, even if user data exists only in
[0053]
Therefore, in the present embodiment, even when the data recording of the user is completed in the middle of the data area of the first recording layer (layer 0), the recording operation on the second recording layer (layer 1) is not required. It is intended to provide a recording method which is compatible with a DVD-ROM.
[0054]
First, an information recording method according to the present embodiment for a two-layer DVD + R (optical disk 2) based on, for example, the PTP method according to the layout of a read-only DVD disk will be described with reference to FIG. FIGS. 5 (a) and 5 (b) are the same as FIGS. 3 (a) and 3 (b), and the user's data is recorded in the middle of the data area of the first recording layer (layer 0) of the dual-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2). The example of the case of completion is shown. Under such circumstances, in the case of the present embodiment, after the completion of the recording of the user data, necessary information is recorded in the lead-out areas of the addresses X to E, as shown in FIG. Regarding the first recording layer (layer 0) (more specifically, in the lead-in area), even though the physical structure of the two-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2) is a multi-layer disc, By recording the discrimination information for discriminating that the disc is a two-layer disc, the recording operation on the two-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2) is completed so that compatibility with the DVD-ROM can be obtained. is there.
[0055]
An information recording method according to the present embodiment for a two-layer DVD + R (optical disk 2) based on the layout of a read-only DVD disk, for example, by the OTP method will be described with reference to FIG. FIGS. 6 (a) and 6 (b) are the same as FIGS. 4 (a) and 4 (b), and the user's data is recorded in the middle of the data area of the first recording layer (layer 0) of the dual-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2). The example of the case of completion is shown. Under such circumstances, in the case of the present embodiment, after the user data recording is completed as shown in FIG. 6C, the first recording layer (layer 0) is In the lead-in area), by recording identification information for assuming that the two-layer DVD + R (optical disc 2) is a single-layer disc despite the physical structure of the disc being a multi-layer disc, The recording operation on the dual-layer DVD + R (optical disk 2) is terminated so that compatibility with the DVD-ROM can be obtained. Here, in the present embodiment, even if the layer DVD + R (optical disk 2) is an OTP disk, the user data is required to be recognized by the DVD-ROM drive so that the second recording layer (layer 1) does not exist. After that, the data recording is completed by recording the lead-out area without recording the intermediate area. As a result, the recording process is exactly the same as that of the PTP disk shown in FIG.
[0056]
That is, generally, in order to make the DVD-ROM compatible, information on the physical format is written in the lead-in area so that the DVD-ROM drive can recognize the physical format. As the physical format information of the lead-in area, for example, as shown in FIG. 7, a disc category / version number (1 byte), a disc size / maximum transfer speed (1 byte), a disc structure (1 byte), a recording density Information (1 byte), data zone allocation (12 bytes), BCA descriptor (1 byte), reservation (15 bytes), reservation (2016 bytes) can be recorded. In the DVD-ROM drive, the readability of the inserted disc is determined by checking the information of such a lead-in area. Among these pieces of information, the information on the disc structure includes identification information indicating a single-layer disc or a double-layer disc, and in the case of a double-layer disc, identification information of a PTP disc or an OTP disc. [0060]
This process is performed as one process when there is a user data recording request from the user via the host (Y in step S1). After recording the requested address based on the request (S2) It is checked whether there is another recording request (S3). If there is a data recording request (Y in S3), the requested data recording is subsequently performed (S2). On the other hand, when the recording of the user data is completed (N in S3), the physical address X at which the recording of the user data is completed is acquired (S4). Then, it is determined whether or not the obtained user data recording completion address X is an address in layer 0 (S5). The processing of N, S4, and S5 in step S3 is a completion recording layer determination unit or a completion recording layer. It is executed as a judgment function. As a result of this determination, when the recording completion is within layer 1 (N in S5), processing such as filling with dummy data is performed according to the above-described corresponding processing example and the like, but is omitted.
[0061]
On the other hand, when the recording completion is the
[0062]
If the DVD + R is a PTP disk (Y in S6), the lead-out recording start address is set to X and the end address is set to E, and the lead-out area LO is written (S7). With respect to the physical format information, information regarded as a single-layer medium (for example, information on the disc structure as described above) is recorded (S8), and the process ends (S9). The processing in step S8 is executed as the assumed information recording processing means or the assumed information recording processing function.
[0063]
On the other hand, if the DVD + R is an OTP disk (N in S6), the lead-out recording start address is set to X and the end address is set to E, and writing to the lead-out area LO is performed instead of recording in the intermediate area (S10). Then, information regarding the physical format information in the lead-in area LI, which is regarded as a single-layer medium (for example, information on the disk structure as described above), is recorded (S11), and the process ends (S9). The process of step S10 is executed as a recording unit or a recording function, and the process of step S11 is executed as a deemed information recording processing unit or a deemed information recording processing function.
[0064]
In the above description, the case where the second recording layer is a single layer has been described, but the present invention can be similarly applied even when the second recording layer is a plurality of recording layers.
[0065]
Further, in the present embodiment, an example in which the information recording medium is a dual-layer DVD + R has been described. However, the present invention is not limited to the dual-layer DVD + R, and a plurality of data areas each having a data area for recording user data are provided. In the case of an information recording medium having a recording layer and having a first recording layer serving as a reference for determining a range of a data area in each recording layer, and a second recording layer excluding the first recording layer If so, the same can be applied.
[0066]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, when data recording is completed in the middle of the first recording layer, even if the physical structure of the information recording medium is a multilayer, the first By recording information considered as a single-layer medium in the first recording layer since only recording of the recording layer is performed, the dummy data and the like are not recorded on the second recording layer. Therefore, the read-only drive can read out the information regarded as the single-layer medium without requiring any processing time, and the compatibility can be maintained.
[0067]
According to the second, tenth, eighteenth, and twenty-fifth aspects of the present invention, information necessary for a reproducing operation, such as a format conforming to the information recording medium, a disk size, and a disk capacity, is recorded in the physical format information of the lead-in area. Since the information indicating that the information recording medium is a multi-layered information recording medium is also stored in the physical format information, even in the case of a multi-layered medium, one is stored in the lead-in area of the first recording layer. By forcibly recording information regarded as a layer medium, it is possible to read by a read-only drive only by reading the information regarded as a one-layer medium when reading by a read-only drive, and to maintain compatibility. be able to.
[0068]
According to the inventions of
[0069]
According to the fourth, twentieth, twenty-fifth and twenty-fifth aspects of the present invention, the physical format information of the lead-in area includes not only information on a disk structure of a multi-layer / single-layer medium or the like but also information on data zone allocation. Therefore, when the recording is completed in the middle of the first recording layer, even if the physical structure of the information recording medium is a multilayer, the recording is completed in the first recording layer as the information regarding the data zone allocation. By recording the physical sector number information, that is, the data size, and the information indicating that the medium is a single-layer medium, it is possible to read only the information considered to be read only by the read-only drive when reading by the read-only drive. The drive enables reading as in the case of the single-layer medium, and can maintain compatibility.
[0070]
According to the fifth, thirteenth, twenty-first, and twenty-fifth aspects, the present invention can be suitably applied to the case of a PTP type information recording medium.
[0071]
According to the inventions described in
[0072]
According to the seventh, fifteenth, twenty-third and twenty-fifth aspects of the present invention, in the case of an information recording medium of the OTP system, the second recording is performed in the read-only drive by recording the lead-out area instead of the intermediate area. It can be recognized that there is no layer, and compatibility can be reliably ensured.
