TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a variable valve timing control device for an engine.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, it has been desired to reduce the amount of harmful substances represented by HC (hydrocarbon) contained in exhaust gas, and various techniques for realizing this demand have been disclosed. For example,
[0003]
[Patent Document 1]
JP 2000-73803 A
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, it is desirable to always reduce the amount of harmful substances (here, HC will be described as an example) contained in the exhaust gas. However, particularly when the engine is started in a cold state, the amount of HC emission becomes large. It is strongly desired to reduce HC during a cold start. The reason for the large amount of HC emission during cold start is that the engine is not sufficiently warm, and unburned fuel and oil are directly contained in the exhaust gas, resulting in an increase in HC amount. If the temperature is low, the catalyst is not sufficiently activated, and the HC discharged from the engine cannot be sufficiently removed by the catalyst.
[0005]
By the way, when minus overlap (negative overlap) is set during the exhaust stroke in order to suppress the amount of HC emission, the exhaust gas is compressed during this negative overlap period, and then the intake valve is opened near TDC. This allows the compressed exhaust gas to flow vigorously into the intake port.
According to this method, the droplet fuel adhering to the wall of the intake port, which is one of the causes of generation of HC, is atomized by the exhaust gas which has flowed vigorously into the intake port, and the next combustion / explosion Since combustion can be performed in the process, the amount of HC emission can be reduced.
[0006]
On the other hand, at the time of medium-high load operation, such a negative overlap is not preferable, and the normal operation has higher efficiency.
Therefore, it is conceivable to provide a VVT mechanism that can change the valve timing, and change the valve timing according to the operating state of the engine. However, in this case, it is necessary to change the valve timing by the VVT mechanism. However, the VVT mechanism is driven by hydraulic pressure, and the VVT mechanism operates after the engine starts until the hydraulic pressure reaches a predetermined pressure. The timing cannot be changed.
[0007]
As described above, although the method of changing the valve timing using the hydraulically driven VVT mechanism is very effective in suppressing the emission of harmful substances, it cannot be used immediately after the engine is started. There is.
The present invention has been made in view of such a problem, and can set the valve timing of the intake valve and the exhaust valve at the time of starting the engine to a timing suitable for suppressing the amount of harmful substances discharged from the engine. It is an object of the present invention to provide a variable valve timing control device.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The variable valve timing control device according to the first aspect of the present invention is a variable valve timing control device capable of changing a valve timing of an engine, which is connected to a drive shaft of the engine and driven by rotation of the drive shaft. A sprocket, a camshaft driven by rotation of the sprocket, phase changing means interposed between the sprocket and the camshaft, and capable of changing a relative phase of the camshaft with respect to the sprocket by hydraulic pressure, Fixing means for fixing the relative phase between the sprocket and the camshaft to an initial phase suitable for reducing the amount of harmful substances contained in exhaust gas at the time of cold start of the engine; Is commanded, the operation of the engine is extended, and before the engine is stopped, the relative phase is initialized by the phase changing means. It is characterized in that a control means for fixing the said relative phase in the initial phase by the fixing means is set to phase.
[0009]
As a result, even if the oil pressure drops after the engine stops, the relative phase between the sprocket and the camshaft (that is, the relative phase between the engine crankshaft and the camshaft) reduces the amount of harmful substances contained in the exhaust gas of the engine. Since the phase is fixed at an initial phase which is very effective for reduction, it is possible to effectively reduce the emission of harmful substances when the engine is restarted.
[0010]
Further, in the variable valve timing control device according to
As a result, the hydraulic pressure required to change the relative phase to the initial phase before the engine stops can be reliably obtained, and the relative phase between the sprocket and the camshaft (that is, the crankshaft and the camshaft of the engine) can be changed. It is possible to reliably change to the initial phase.
[0011]
A variable valve timing control device according to
[0012]
Thus, even after the engine is stopped, the phase changing means is driven by the hydraulic pressure generated by the electric hydraulic pump driven by the electric power, and the phase of the sprocket and the camshaft connected to the crankshaft is included in the exhaust gas of the engine. The initial phase is changed so that the amount of harmful substances can be reduced. Further, since the relative phase between the sprocket and the camshaft is fixed at the initial phase by the fixing means, it is necessary to operate the sprocket (that is, the crankshaft) and the camshaft while maintaining the above initial phase when starting the engine. It is possible to effectively reduce harmful substance emissions.
[0013]
5. A variable valve timing control apparatus according to
Thus, even after the engine is stopped, the phase changing means, which has received the hydraulic pressure from the hydraulic pressure accumulating means that stores the hydraulic pressure in advance, is driven, and the phase between the sprocket connected to the crankshaft and the camshaft is changed to the exhaust gas of the engine. Is changed to an initial phase that can reduce the amount of harmful substances contained in.

As described in detail above, according to the variable valve timing control device for the engine, the amount of harmful substances discharged from the engine can be effectively suppressed even immediately after the cold start of the engine. That is, even if the oil pressure decreases after the engine stops, the relative phase between the sprocket and the camshaft (that is, the relative phase between the crankshaft and the camshaft of the engine) is fixed at the initial phase by the fixing means. Since the initial phase is a phase in which the amount of harmful substances contained in the exhaust gas of the engine can be reduced, it is possible to effectively reduce the amount of harmful substances discharged even during a cold start of the engine. (Claim 1).
[0066]
Also, before stopping the engine, it is possible to reliably obtain the oil pressure required to change the relative phase to the initial phase by increasing the engine speed, and the phase changing means uses the relative phase between the sprocket and the camshaft. Can be appropriately changed (claim 2).
In addition, by providing an electric hydraulic pump that generates electric oil pressure by being driven by electricity, it is possible to drive the phase changing unit even after the engine is stopped, and it is possible to drive the phase between the sprocket and the camshaft (that is, the crankshaft of the engine). Relative phase between the shaft and the camshaft) can be fixed as the initial phase, and even when the engine is restarted, the sprocket and the camshaft can be operated while maintaining the above initial phase. Emissions can be effectively reduced (claim 3).
[0067]
In addition, by providing a hydraulic pressure accumulating means capable of accumulating hydraulic pressure in advance, it is possible to drive the phase changing means even after the engine is stopped, and it is possible to drive the phase between the sprocket and the camshaft (ie, the crankshaft of the engine). Relative phase of the camshaft) can be fixed as the initial phase, and even when the engine is restarted, the sprocket and the camshaft can be operated while maintaining the above initial phase. Can be effectively reduced (claim 4).
