TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a spark ignition type internal combustion engine that injects fuel directly into a combustion chamber.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a spark-ignition internal combustion engine with a spark plug, fuel is directly injected into the cavity in the combustion chamber in the latter half of the compression stroke at low and medium load ranges to form a stratified mixture and ignite here. Patent Literature 1 discloses a technique in which stable stratified combustion is achieved by performing ignition with a plug while maintaining a lean mixture.
[0003]
It is very important in this insidious internal combustion engine to surely form a combustible concentration mixture in the vicinity of the ignition plug during stratified combustion. For this reason, a cavity is formed in the piston crown surface, , And the sprayed fuel is reflected and circulated on the inner wall surface of the cavity, soars toward the spark plug, and forms an appropriate mixture layer near the spark plug.
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-11-82028
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
If the required fuel injection amount changes in accordance with the load in such a stratified combustion operation region, the injection time becomes longer when a relatively large amount of fuel is to be injected. Therefore, the injection timing must be advanced accordingly.
[0006]
However, in the above-mentioned insidious internal combustion engine, the shape of the cavity is such that the cross-sectional area inside the cavity is larger than the opening of the cavity, that is, the shape is such that the cavity is narrowed inward. If it is accelerated, the fuel injected while the distance from the piston crown surface is large will diffuse outside without entering the cavity. In this case, stratification of the air-fuel mixture becomes difficult, and good stratified combustion cannot be obtained.
[0007]
For this reason, the fuel injection timing cannot be advanced so much, and in the region where the fuel injection amount is large, the injection timing is eventually delayed from the required injection timing, and the air-fuel mixture in the cavity tends to be excessively rich. There is a problem that a stratified combustion cannot be realized.
[0008]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a direct incendiary spark ignition engine capable of always forming an air-fuel mixture having an appropriate flammable concentration even when operating conditions change.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention relates to a direct incendiary spark ignition engine in which a fuel injection valve and an ignition plug are provided at an upper portion of a cylinder, and a cavity for receiving fuel spray from the fuel injection valve is formed on a piston crown surface. Also has an inner wall inclined so that the opening expands, and the fuel spray injected from the fuel injection valve during the piston compression stroke always collides with the inner wall, and the angle when colliding with the inner wall is always An acute angle was set outside the cavity, so that the fuel spray formed a circulating flow directed toward the inside of the cavity.
[0010]
[Action / Effect]
Therefore, at the time of stratified combustion in which fuel injection is performed in the compression stroke, even when the fuel injection timing changes, the fuel spray always collides with the inclined inner wall surface of the cavity, and a circulating flow is formed toward the inside of the cavity. An air-fuel mixture layer having an appropriate flammable concentration is formed in the vicinity of the ignition plug while entraining air, and good and stable stratified combustion can be realized.
[0011]
Embodiment
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
[0012]
First, a first embodiment is shown in FIG.
[0013]
In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a cylinder head, 2 denotes a cylinder block, and 3 denotes a piston which moves up and down in the cylinder. An intake port 6 and an exhaust port 7 are formed in the cylinder head 1, and an intake valve 8 and an exhaust valve 9 that open and close communication between the intake and exhaust ports 6 and 7 and the combustion chamber 4 in synchronization with engine rotation are provided. Provided.
[0014]
A fuel injection valve 11 is preferably arranged on the cylinder head 1 substantially coaxially with the piston 3 and located above the combustion chamber 4 so as to extend downward and conically toward the piston axis. Spray the fuel. As will be described later, the spread angle of the fuel spray is set appropriately in relation to the cavity 23 formed in the crown surface 22 of the piston 3.
[0015]
An ignition plug 12 is provided near the fuel injection valve 11 and ignites at an appropriate ignition timing near the compression top dead center to ignite the air-fuel mixture.
[0016]
The cavity 23 formed in the crown surface 22 has a center substantially coincident with the piston axis, and is formed in a circular shape as a whole. Further, the cavity 23 is formed of a bottom surface 24 formed of a flat plane and an inclined inner wall surface 25 rising straight and obliquely from the periphery thereof, and the area of the cavity opening 26 is smaller than the area of the bottom surface 24. It is also formed in a mortar shape that is larger and wider. At this time, the projected area of the inclined inner wall surface 25 in the cylinder axis direction is set to be larger than the area of the bottom surface portion 24.
[0017]
The relationship between the inclination angle of the inner wall surface 25, the spread angle of the fuel spray from the fuel injection valve 11, and the diameter of the opening 26 of the cavity 23 is determined in the stratified combustion region from the fuel injection valve 11 to the second half of the compression stroke. When the fuel is injected at the maximum and the fuel injection timing is advanced to the maximum extent by the load, that is, as the fuel injection amount changes, as shown in FIG. The angle at which the expanding fuel spray always reaches the inside of the cavity 23 and collides with the inclined inner wall surface 25 is the angle between the inner wall surface 25 and the fuel spray, which is closer to the cavity center side of the inner wall surface 25. The angle formed with the inside of the cavity, which is the facing surface, is set to 90 degrees or more, that is, forms an obtuse angle, and the angle formed with the outside of the cavity is set to an acute angle (hereinafter, this specification). In, this relationship is defined as an acute angle to the cavity outside).
[0018]
Thus, as shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the fuel spray does not come out of the cavity outside 3 even when the fuel injection timing is late or early, and the fuel spray is not inclined. The fuel spray collides with the inner wall surface 25 and has a sharp outer angle, so that the fuel spray forms a circulating flow that collides with the inner wall surface 25 and then rises inward in the cavity. In the vicinity of the piston top dead center, a combustible concentration air-fuel mixture can be formed inside the cavity 23 and in the space above the cavity 23.
[0019]
In addition, the crown surface 22 of the piston 3 has a sloping surface 27 gently inclined on both sides around the cavity 23, and a flat top surface 28 is formed in a region sandwiched between the sloping surfaces 27. , Formed outside the cavity 23.
[0020]
The injection timing of the fuel from the fuel injection valve 11 is controlled by a controller (not shown). In a low and medium load range of the engine, the fuel injection timing is in the latter half of the compression stroke due to the stratified combustion by the lean air-fuel mixture. Is increased, the injection amount is increased, and the injection timing is controlled to be advanced (advanced). The fuel injection timing is advanced even with an increase in the engine speed.
[0021]
On the other hand, in the high engine load range, the fuel injection timing is set in the first half of the intake stroke, the air and fuel are mixed in advance, and the fuel injection amount is increased in accordance with the load. Homogeneous mixture combustion by the mixture is performed.
[0022]
Further, the controller also controls the ignition timing of the ignition plug 12 based on the load and the number of revolutions of the engine so that the optimum ignition timing (MBT) is obtained.
[0023]
The configuration is as described above, and the operation will now be described.
[0024]
As shown in FIG. 3, in the stratified combustion region where the engine load is relatively small except for a high engine load, fuel is injected from the fuel injection valve 11 in the latter half of the compression stroke in which the piston 3 rises. You. The conical fuel spray from the fuel injection valve 11 collides with the inner wall surface 25 of the cavity 23 all around. Since the collision angle is acute toward the outside of the cavity, each circulates along the wall toward the center of the cavity, collides with fuel spray from the opposite side, and rises from the inside of the cavity toward the cylinder head. At this time, a mixed air mass having a flammable concentration is formed near the ignition plug 12 while entraining the surrounding air. The mixed air mass expands outside the cavity as the piston 3 further rises.
[0025]
Then, when ignition is performed by the ignition plug 12 near the compression top dead center, the flammable mixture is ignited, and stable stratified combustion is performed even though the mixture has a lean air-fuel ratio as a whole. Is
[0026]
By the way, as shown in FIG. 4, even in the stratified charge combustion operation, the fuel injection amount varies depending on the load. At a low load, a small amount of fuel increases as the load increases, and the fuel injection timing increases. Is faster by that much.
[0027]
When the fuel injection timing is advanced, the distance between the piston crown surface 22 and the fuel injection valve 11 when the fuel injection valve 11 starts fuel injection is large, and the fuel spray injected at the same fuel injection angle is the piston crown surface. When it reaches 22, it spreads that much.
[0028]
However, in the present invention, the cavity 23 is formed in a mortar shape in which the diameter of the opening 26 is wider than the bottom portion 24 and the inner wall surface 25 expands outward, so that the fuel spray always reaches the cavity, It collides with the inner wall surface 25 all around, and the collision angle at that time becomes acute toward the outside of the cavity.
[0029]
For this reason, when the fuel injection amount is increased and the injection timing is advanced, that is, even on the high load side, the fuel spray forms a circulating flow upward from the center in the cavity, and while the surrounding air is entrained, the fuel spray is A mixture layer having a uniform concentration can be formed in the vicinity.
[0030]
When the load is small and the fuel injection amount is small, the injection timing is delayed, but in this case, the fuel spray collides with the inner wall surface 25 near the center of the cavity and forms a circulating flow mainly circulating in the inner region, In this case, it is possible to form a homogeneous air-fuel mixture having a small flammable concentration as a whole.
[0031]
As described above, even if the fuel injection amount is small or large, a combustible mixture layer having a good uniform concentration can always be formed, and stable stratified combustion can be realized.
[0032]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the fuel injection valve 11 and the ignition plug 12 are provided in the upper part of the cylinder, and the cavity 23 for receiving the fuel spray from the fuel injection valve 11 is formed in the piston crown surface 22. It has an inner wall surface 25 inclined so that the opening portion 26 is wider than the bottom surface portion 24, and the fuel spray injected from the fuel injection valve 11 in the piston compression stroke always collides with the inner wall surface 25, and The angle of the collision is set to be acute outside the cavity, and the fuel spray forms a circulating flow directed toward the inside of the cavity. Thus, during stratified charge combustion in which fuel is injected during the compression stroke, the fuel injection timing changes. However, a circulating flow is always formed toward the inside of the cavity, thereby forming an air-fuel mixture layer having an appropriate flammable concentration near the ignition plug while entraining surrounding air. It is possible to realize a stable stratified combustion.
[0033]
Also, the inner wall surface 25 of the cavity 23 is set so that the projected area with respect to the virtual plane in the cylinder center axis direction is larger than the area of the bottom surface portion 24, so that the fuel spray can be surely sprayed on the inclined inner wall surface 25. The collision can form a circulating flow toward the inside of the cavity.
[0034]
Further, by arranging the fuel injection valve 11 and the ignition plug 12 in an area above the bottom surface 24 of the cavity 23, the air-fuel mixture formed in the combustion chamber 4 formed between the cavity 23 and the cylinder head is formed. It ignites in the vicinity of the center of the mass and can reliably ignite.
[0035]
The fuel injection timing from the fuel injection valve 11 is advanced when the engine load increases, or when the injection end is too late by increasing the engine rotation speed. The air-fuel mixture that occurs in the fuel tank prevents over-concentration and enables stable stratified combustion.
[0036]
Next, a second embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
[0037]
In the following description, in order to avoid repetition, the description will be made mainly on portions different from the first embodiment.
[0038]
A projection 27 is formed at the center of the cavity 23. The projection 27 collides with the inner wall surface 25 all around and guides the fuel spray flowing inward so as to generate a circulating flow upward from the center of the cavity.
[0039]
Therefore, in the present embodiment, a circulating flow can be generated more stably, which contributes to the stabilization of stratified combustion.
[0040]
A third embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
[0041]
This is different from the first embodiment in that the shape of the cavity 23 is changed, and in that the cavity 23 has a particularly inclined bottom surface 24a.
[0042]
The inclination direction of the bottom surface 24a is defined so as to be substantially perpendicular to the axis of the ignition plug 12. When the spark plug 12 close to the fuel injection valve 11 is inclined with respect to the piston axis due to the limitation of the installation space on the cylinder head side, and the ignition plug is arranged so that its ignition point is as close as possible to the axis of the fuel injection valve 11. By inclining the bottom portion 24a in this manner, the circulating flow reflected on the entire circumference of the inner wall surface 25 and directed toward the center side is directed toward the ignition plug 12.
[0043]
As a result, in the present embodiment, it is possible to reliably bring the center of the combustible gas mixture to the vicinity of the ignition plug, and the ignition and combustion stability are improved accordingly.
[0044]
A fourth embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
[0045]
This embodiment is different from the first embodiment in an ignition plug structure.
[0046]
That is, an ignition plug 12a projecting toward the center of the combustion chamber is provided, and an ignition point (ignition gap) of the ignition plug 12a is formed between the cavity 23 and the cylinder head 1 at the compression top dead center of the piston 3. It is provided so as to be located at the center of the combustion chamber. That is, the ignition point is arranged near the center of the opening 26 of the cavity 23.
[0047]
Therefore, in this embodiment, since the ignition point of the ignition plug 12 ignited near the compression top dead center is located near the center of the combustion chamber, that is, near the center of the air-fuel mixture, the flame propagation distance after ignition is reduced, Rapid combustion becomes possible.
[0048]
A fifth embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
[0049]
In this embodiment, the cavity 23 has a larger inclination, that is, an inner wall surface 25a approaching vertical, however, in this case, even when the fuel injection timing is advanced, the fuel spray from the fuel injection valve 11 is surely made. The diameter of the cavity opening 26 is set large so as to enter the cavity.
[0050]
As described above, in the present embodiment, since the inclination of the inner wall surface 25a is strong, the colliding fuel spray flows toward the center of the cavity without fail, whereby a strong circulation flow can be formed.
[0051]
A sixth embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
[0052]
In the present embodiment, a vertical wall surface portion 28 is formed above the inclined inner wall surface 25 of the cavity 23 so as to be continuous with the first embodiment.
[0053]
In this embodiment, the vertical wall portion 28 prevents diffusion of the fuel spray, maintains a circulating flow in the cavity, and enables more stable combustion.
[0054]
It is apparent that the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, but includes various changes and improvements that can be made by those skilled in the art within the scope of the technical idea described in the claims.
