【0072】

[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to a sheet conveying apparatus and an image forming apparatus, and more particularly, to a sheet conveying apparatus and an image forming apparatus that convey sheets using a conveying belt.

[Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent No. 2897960 [Patent Document 2] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-53081 [Patent Document 3] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-190473
[Prior art]
As an image forming apparatus (or also referred to as an image recording apparatus) such as a printer, a facsimile, and a copying apparatus, for example, an ink jet recording apparatus is known. The ink jet recording apparatus means a sheet to which ink (including but not limited to OHP) from which an ink droplet, a developer, and other liquid can adhere from an ink recording head. The recording is performed by ejecting ink onto recording paper, etc.), high-definition images can be recorded at high speed, running costs are low, noise is low, and multicolor inks are used. Has an advantage that it is easy to record a color image by using.
[0004]
As the ink jet head, a piezoelectric actuator such as a piezoelectric element, a thermal actuator utilizing a phase change due to film boiling of a liquid using an electrothermal transducer such as a heating resistor, a shape memory alloy actuator using a metal phase change due to a temperature change, 2. Description of the Related Art There is known an electrostatic actuator using an electrostatic force or the like as an energy generating unit for discharging ink.
[0005]
By the way, in the ink jet recording method, when an image is formed in order to attach ink to paper, there is a phenomenon that the paper is stretched by moisture contained in the ink. This phenomenon is called cockling. This cockling causes the paper to undulate, and the positions of the nozzles of the head and the surface of the paper change from place to place. If the degree of cockling becomes worse, in the worst case, the paper may come into contact with the nozzle surface of the head and stain the nozzle surface of the head, or the paper itself may become dirty, deteriorating the image quality. The impact position of the ink droplet may be shifted due to the influence.
[0006]
For this reason, in the ink jet recording apparatus, printing is performed on a platen provided with a dent that absorbs cockling of paper, and a spur having a protrusion on the periphery is provided as a presser for the paper, but scratches on the image due to the spur are generated. Is also a problem.
[0007]
Further, in a conventional ink jet recording apparatus, paper is fed by rollers, and two sets of rollers (one is a combination of a spur and a roller as described above) are arranged with a print area interposed therebetween. However, in this configuration, the paper feeding accuracy can be guaranteed only when the paper is engaged with the two sets of rollers.
[0008]
However, in recent years, since an increase in the image printing area is desired, a state in which the paper feeding accuracy cannot be assured in order to secure the printing area, that is, one of the two roller pairs is used. There is also an ink jet recording apparatus in which printing is performed in a state where only the sheet is bitten. However, in the state where the sheet is bitten by only one roller pair, if the sheet floats, it cannot be dealt with, or the feeding accuracy cannot be guaranteed because the sheet conveyance force cannot be secured, so the image quality also deteriorates. Problem arises.
[0009]
In pursuit of higher image quality in the ink jet recording apparatus, the accuracy of the landing position of the ink droplet on the paper is required, and it is necessary to improve the flatness of the paper. In the case, paper fibers swell due to the moisture contained in the ink and deform in a wave-like manner, resulting in a shift in the dot landing position. So far, it has been found that it takes about 3 seconds or more after the ink adheres to the paper, and the paper is greatly deformed.
[0010]
Therefore,
As described in
[0011]
here,
[0012]
However, when the paper is electrostatically attracted and transported using the transport belt as described above, if the charge on the transport belt leaks, the suction force is reduced, and normal transport is performed. Disappears.
[0013]
Therefore, conventionally,
As described in Patent Document 3, at least a part of a portion where a power supply portion for applying a voltage to a static electricity generating portion provided on a transport belt is displaced above a sheet mounting surface of the transport belt. In some cases, a displacement unit is provided to prevent undesired flow of ink to the power supply unit, thereby avoiding occurrence of a short circuit or the like.
[0014]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, as in the device described in the above-mentioned [Patent Document 3], it is not possible to cope with the case where a leak has occurred simply by adopting a structure for preventing the leak of the transport belt, and the suction force is reduced to be stable. There is a problem that it becomes impossible to carry out the transfer.
[0015]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and has as its object to provide a sheet conveying device and an image forming apparatus capable of performing stable conveyance.
[0016]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems, a paper transport apparatus according to the present invention includes a unit that detects a leak at the time of charging of the surface of a transport belt.
[0017]
Here, it is preferable to detect the adhesion of the liquid to the surface of the conveyor belt as a leak, and to detect the damage to the surface of the conveyor belt as a leak, and to detect the leak in each polarity when an alternating voltage is applied to the conveyor belt. Is preferred. Further, it is preferable that the detection time varies depending on the leak amount. Furthermore, it is preferable that a high voltage output for charging the transport belt is stopped when a leak is detected.
[0018]
An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes the sheet conveying device according to the present invention.
[0019]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

A recovery device for recovering the ejection failure of the print head 4 is arranged at a position outside the printing area on one end side in the moving direction of the carriage 3, and is moved to the recovery device side during standby to perform capping. The recording head 4 is capped by means and the nozzle portion is kept in a wet state, thereby preventing ejection failure due to ink drying. In addition, by ejecting ink droplets unrelated to recording even during recording or the like, all the ejection ports are ejected. The ink viscosity is kept constant so as to maintain stable ejection performance.
[0050]
In the case of a discharge failure, for example, the nozzle of the recording head 4 is sealed by a capping unit, bubbles are sucked out of the nozzle with the ink by a suction unit through a tube, and ink and dust adhered to the nozzle surface are cleaned by a cleaning unit. To perform a process for recovering the ejection failure.
[0051]
Therefore, a first embodiment of the leak detecting operation in the ink jet recording apparatus will be described with reference to FIG.
First, the high

[0055]
As described above, by making it possible to detect a leak at the time of charging the transport belt, it is possible to reduce the transport failure of the sheet due to a decrease in the suction force of the transport belt.
[0056]
Here, by setting the current value at the time when the ink adheres to the
[0057]
In other words, if ink adheres to the surface of the conveyor belt, a discharge occurs on the ink from the charging roller during the charging operation, and the output of the high-voltage power supply becomes almost short-circuited. Is neutralized by the ink, causing a decrease in the adsorbing power and causing a jam. Further, the ink is transferred to the paper to be conveyed, and becomes dirty. Therefore, it is possible to stably convey the paper by detecting the adhesion of the ink to the conveyance belt as a leak, and to quickly cope when the output of the high-voltage power supply becomes almost short-circuited. it can.
[0058]
Further, by setting the current value at which a leakage detection signal is output from the current monitor circuit to the current value when the surface of the
[0059]
In other words, if the surface of the conveyor belt is damaged, the output of the high-voltage power supply will be close to a short circuit at the damaged portion when performing the charging operation, and furthermore, the charge will not be sufficiently supplied to the damaged portion and the attraction force will decrease. , Causing the paper to be unable to be stably conveyed. Therefore, by detecting damage to the transport belt as a leak, stable paper transport can be performed, and prompt action can be taken when the output of the high-voltage power supply is close to a short circuit.
[0060]
Further, by performing the polling processing of the leak detection signal as in this embodiment, it is not necessary to constantly monitor the leak detection signal, and the burden on the control unit is reduced.
[0061]
Next, a second embodiment of the leak detection operation will be described with reference to FIG.

As described above, by counting the rise or fall of the leak detection signal, the load on the control unit is relatively reduced as compared with the following third embodiment, but by monitoring the output time of the leak detection signal. The burden on the control unit is greater than in the first embodiment.

Next, a third embodiment of the leak detection operation will be described with reference to FIG.
Here, as described above, the
[0066]
The
[0067]
As described above, the leak is prevented from being overlooked by constantly monitoring the leak detection signal, but the load on the control unit for constantly monitoring increases.
[0068]
Next, a fourth embodiment of the leak detection operation will be described with reference to FIG.
Here, as described above, the
[0069]
The
[0070]
As described above, by quantitatively measuring the amount of leakage based on the value of the current flowing through the closed circuit, a small amount of leakage can be ignored according to the amount of leakage, and a large amount of leakage can be immediately recognized as a leakage. However, since the current value is monitored quantitatively, the current value may be weakened against noise.
[0071]
That is, when a leak occurs in the transport belt, a small amount of ink droplets may adhere to the transport belt or a leak may occur due to paper dust. In this case, since the leak may be recovered due to natural drying, scattering of paper powder, or the like, it is advantageous not to recognize that the leak has occurred immediately even if the leak is detected. Further, when a large amount of leaks occur due to a tear in the transport belt, adhesion of ink, or the like, it is necessary to promptly recognize that the leak has occurred.
[0072]
Therefore, as described above, by making the time until it is recognized as leaking different according to the leak amount (recognizing at a different time according to the leak amount), a slight leak is ignored, and Leaks can be immediately recognized as leaks.
[0073]
In the above embodiment, the present invention has been described as an example in which the present invention is applied to a serial type (shuttle type) ink jet recording apparatus in which a carriage scans. However, the present invention is similarly applied to a line type ink jet recording apparatus having a line type head. be able to.
[0074]
Further, the image forming apparatus according to the present invention can be applied to a facsimile apparatus, a copying apparatus, a printer / fax / copier multifunction peripheral, etc. in addition to the ink jet printer. Further, the present invention can be applied to an image forming apparatus that ejects a liquid other than ink, for example, a resist or a DNA sample in the medical field.
[0075]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the paper transporting device of the present invention, it is possible to detect a leak at the time of charging of the transport belt, so that it is possible to suppress the transport from becoming unstable due to a decrease in the attraction force of the transport belt.
[0076]
According to the image recording apparatus of the present invention, since the sheet conveying apparatus of the present invention is provided, the conveyance stability of the sheet is improved, and the image quality is improved.
