【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a switching power supply, and more particularly, to a method and a device for controlling a switching power supply.
[0002]
[Prior art]
With the development of power semiconductor switching devices and high-frequency switching technology, the effects of miniaturization, weight reduction, high performance, and high efficiency have been raised, and switching power supplies have been used in many fields. In the power conversion process, the input voltage is once converted into a high-frequency pulse train, and the pulse train is passed through a smoothing circuit again to attenuate the ripple voltage to obtain an output voltage. The voltage is adjusted by controlling the width of each pulse constituting the pulse train.

The problem of vibration caused by the resonance between the reactor and the capacitor also occurs in a converter having a transformer and having an input and an output insulated. FIG. 15 shows an example. This is a so-called push-pull converter provided with a transformer T in the step-down converter of FIG. It has two
The operation and characteristics of these various converter circuits and the converter circuit having the input and output insulating transformers are described in detail in the above cited documents.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional switching power supply, the transfer function has a second-order lag, and the phase lag in the Bode diagram characteristic is close to 180 °, so that the negative feedback control loop has insufficient margin and is likely to be tuned. Further, since a circuit is formed in which a current generated by resonance between the reactor and the capacitor can freely flow, the reactor current and the capacitor voltage oscillate. The present invention provides a switching power supply control device that does not cause this turbulence and does not generate current and voltage oscillations.
[0011]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The occurrence of a circuit operation state in which the reactor and the capacitor resonate in the switching power supply causes vibration in the current and the voltage. Therefore, a circuit is provided to restrict the base current IB of the reactor current to a predetermined level of current so that the base current IB does not fluctuate freely. By controlling the base current IB, the circuit including the reactor has an infinite impedance, and the reactor no longer functions as a component having linear characteristics. That is, since the reactor has nonlinear characteristics, resonance with the capacitor becomes impossible. The present invention constitutes a switching power supply controller by adopting a new method of controlling the base current IB to a predetermined level.
[0012]
【Example】
The principle of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 1 shows a pattern of a current iL flowing through the
Restricting the minimum value of the ripple of the reactor current iL by the base current IB results in controlling the base current IB to be constant. A constant current source has infinite impedance. Therefore, even if a situation in which an alternating current occurs for some reason occurs, there is no flowing circuit, so that it does not become obvious. That is, no oscillating current such as resonance occurs.
Further, since the smoothing circuit includes only the

[0014]
FIG. 3 shows a first embodiment of the variable frequency
The base current reference signal IBS is a value obtained by dividing the voltage of the power supply E0 and thus has a constant value, and is not affected by a change in the output current of the switching power supply. FIG. 4 shows a pattern of the reactor current iL.
If a resistor is used for 302 in the embodiment, the voltage of 301 becomes an exponentially increasing waveform, so that the signal VCS becomes an approximate triangular wave signal. If a constant current circuit is used for 301, a highly accurate triangular wave signal can be obtained.
[0015]
FIG. 5 shows a second embodiment of the variable frequency
Since the signal IBS changes in conjunction with the output of the switching power supply, the base current IB is always kept at a level smaller than the output current. This embodiment is effective for a switching power supply for feeding a load having a large fluctuation because the magnitude of the ripple current is suppressed as compared with FIG. 4 even when the output becomes large as shown in FIG.

FIG. 8 shows a third embodiment of the variable frequency
The ISZ level shift amount is determined by the partial pressure ratio between 307 and 308. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 9, the change width of the ripple current is not affected by the magnitude of the output current.
[0018]
In the embodiment of the present invention, a circuit using a bipolar transistor as a semiconductor switch is shown, but it goes without saying that the same operation can be performed by using another semiconductor switch, for example, a power MOSFET, an IGBT or the like.
[0019]
The present invention can be applied not only to the step-down converter of the embodiment but also to a step-up converter and a step-up / step-down converter using a semiconductor switch, a reactor, and a capacitor.
[0020]
Further, the present invention can also be applied to a converter having a transformer that insulates between input and output or greatly changes a voltage ratio.
[0021]
【The invention's effect】
Reactors and capacitors constituting the main circuit of the switching power supply are components having linear characteristics by themselves, and therefore, resonance occurs when they are connected in series or in parallel. When the current flowing through the reactor is controlled, the reactor is constrained by a circuit having infinite impedance, and the reactor does not behave as a component having linear characteristics. Therefore, resonance does not occur with the capacitor. Since there is no oscillation in the output voltage, the voltage transient fluctuation is reduced when the load or the input voltage fluctuates, and the time required for the fluctuation to settle is shortened. That is, the response of the dynamic characteristics becomes faster. The disadvantage that the conventional large transient fluctuation lasts for a long time is greatly improved.
[0022]
Since the transfer function characteristic of the switching power supply has a first-order delay, the phase delay in the Bode diagram is only caused by the capacitor and is limited to 90 ° at the maximum. Therefore, the margin when configuring the negative feedback control loop is increased, and the control operation is stable. The so-called irregularity, which is unstable vibration due to insufficient control system margin, does not occur, and the quality of the power supply is improved and the reliability is improved.
