なお、本実施の形態においては、f1=41k〜44k(Hz)、f2=f1−10k(Hz)、d=1m(s)、T=11m(s)としている。
【0014】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device for lighting a high-pressure discharge lamp (hereinafter, referred to as “lamp”) at a high frequency.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a conventional high pressure discharge lamp lighting device, when a starting point of a discharge arc moves in a front-rear direction (longitudinal direction of a high pressure discharge lamp) from a distal end to a proximal end of an electrode, a high pressure pulse is applied periodically to discharge. The starting position of the arc is returned to the tip of the electrode (for example, see Patent Document 1).

[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in addition to the starting point of the discharge arc moving in the front-rear direction on the electrode, the starting point moves in the left-right direction (the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the high-pressure discharge lamp) on the electrode, and the discharge arc deviates from the electrode center. There was a case. Due to this phenomenon, the discharge arc became unstable, and flickering and disappearing sometimes occurred. Such a phenomenon is problematic because the starting point of the discharge arc cannot be returned to the center of the electrode even when a high-voltage pulse is applied periodically as in the prior art.
[0005]
The present invention solves such a problem, and even when the starting point of the discharge arc moves in the left-right direction outside the center of the electrode, the starting point of the discharge arc can be easily returned to the center of the electrode. An object of the present invention is to provide a high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device according to the present invention includes a DC power supply circuit, an inverter circuit for converting an output current of the DC power supply circuit to a high frequency of 1 kHz or more, a high-pressure discharge lamp for supplying an output current of the inverter circuit, and an output of the inverter circuit. A control circuit that controls the frequency to maintain a frequency band that does not cause acoustic resonance phenomena that may occur when the high-pressure discharge lamp is lit at a high frequency, and that the impedance in the high-pressure discharge lamp has a pulse width longer than the output cycle of the inverter circuit. And a fluctuation means for reducing a pulse to prevent the starting point of the discharge arc from deviating from the center of the electrode.
[0007]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of a high pressure discharge lamp lighting device according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0011]
Next, the setting of the output frequencies f1 and f2, the pulse width d of the output frequency f2, and the switching period T will be described.
Generally, when a high-pressure discharge lamp is lit at high frequency, it is known that the so-called acoustic resonance phenomenon that causes the discharge arc to bend due to the interference between the traveling wave of the sound wave in the lamp and the reflected wave, causing extinguishing or lamp destruction is likely to occur. I have. Therefore, particularly at the time of high-frequency lighting of 1 kHz or more, stable lighting is possible by selecting and lighting a non-resonant frequency band (hereinafter, referred to as “window”) in which an acoustic resonance phenomenon does not occur.
[0012]
FIG. 3 is a diagram showing the distribution of resonance frequency bands and windows of a ceramic metal halide lamp having a rated power of 35 W. In the present embodiment, the output frequency f1 is set to one of the frequencies included in the window of 41 to 45 kHz.
[0013]
Further, even if the lighting frequency is included in the resonance frequency band, it takes 1 to 2 ms before the acoustic resonance phenomenon occurs. Therefore, if the pulse width d is 1 ms or less, the output frequency f2 is an arbitrary frequency smaller than the output frequency f1. Is fine.
Further, the switching period T needs to be short enough that the switching of the output frequency f cannot be visually recognized, and is desirably 20 ms or less.
In the present embodiment, f1 = 41 k to 44 k (Hz), f2 = f1-10 k (Hz), d = 1 m (s), and T = 11 m (s).

Next, the behavior of the discharge arc in the

The impedance of the discharge arc when the arc starting point is at A0 is Z0, when it is A1, it is Z1, and when it is A2, it is Z2.
[0015]
Here, even if the starting point of the discharge arc moves from A0 to A1 or A2 in the state of Z0 ≒ Z1 ≒ Z2, the starting point of the discharge arc naturally returns to A0 if the state of Z0 ≒ Z1 戻 る Z2 continues. If Z1 <Z0 or Z2 <Z0 after the starting point becomes A1 or A2, the starting point of the discharge arc cannot return to A0, and the starting point A2 moves on the electrode following a more stable point. become.

FIG. 5 is a diagram showing a change in the lamp voltage VL accompanying a change in the discharge state from the start of discharge. According to the figure, the argon discharge continues during the period from the start of discharge to t1, mercury evaporates from t1 to t2, and various metals constituting the discharge substance evaporate from t2 to t3 when stable lighting is achieved. Note that it takes about 2 minutes from the start of discharge to t3. At this time, the drop amount (f1−f2) of the output frequency f, the pulse width d, or the operation cycle T may be changed according to each period.
Further, in the present embodiment, the drop amount (f1-f2) of the output frequency f is fixed, but the output frequency f2 may be a fixed value regardless of the value of the output frequency f1.
When the output frequency f2 is within the window to which the output frequency f1 belongs (for example, the lower limit frequency of the window), or when it belongs to another window, the pulse width d may be 1 ms or more.

Next, a high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device according to a seventh embodiment will be described. In the first to sixth embodiments, an example has been described in which the starting point of the discharge arc is prevented from being shifted. [0049]
In the present embodiment, the period d of the output frequency f2 is set to a fixed value of 1 ms, and the switching period T is set to be changed in a range of 1.5 ms to 20 ms. FIG. 18 is a diagram showing the relationship between the switching cycle T and the lamp power in proportion to the load current.
As described above, since the pulse width d of the output frequency f2 is set within 1 ms, the acoustic resonance phenomenon does not occur even if the output frequency f2 does not belong to the window, and the starting point of the discharge arc is prevented from shifting. , Lamp power can be kept constant.
[0050]
In the present embodiment, the pulse width d is a fixed value. However, the pulse width d may fluctuate in conjunction with the switching period T. For example, if the pulse width d monotonously decreases with an increase in the switching period T, the lamp power fluctuation range can be further expanded.

Usually, when the high-pressure discharge lamp is installed in the vertical direction, a shift of the starting point of the arc occurs in the lower electrode. A possible cause is that a large pressure is applied to the lower side of the arc due to convection inside the
Therefore, a mechanism may be provided such that the direction of the bulb is inverted up and down, and the lamp is periodically inverted and turned on to prevent deviation of the starting point of the arc.
[0053]
It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and may be modified as follows, for example, without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
(1) In the above-described first to eighth embodiments, the embodiment has been described using the ceramic metal halide lamp having a rated power of 35 W. However, a high-pressure discharge lamp of another rating or another material is turned on in the same manner. You may.

[0055]
(3) At a predetermined timing after the start of lighting, the amount of drop of the output frequency, the pulse width or the operation cycle, or the amount of increase in the voltage of the DC power supply may be changed.
[0056]
【The invention's effect】
In the high pressure discharge lamp lighting device according to the present invention, since the impedance in the high pressure discharge lamp is reduced in a pulsed manner by the variation means, the starting point of the discharge arc can be effectively prevented from deviating from the center of the electrode.
