[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to an ink supply device in which a fallable ink container is connected to a space in contact with a roll having fine cells formed on its surface, and supplies a required amount of new ink to the roll without circulating the ink. Transfer to a printing substrate. Available in the flexographic and gravure printing markets.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In flexographic printing or gravure printing, the ink in an ink tray is rotated and passed between a plurality of rolls, and finally guided to an inking roll having fine cells formed on the surface, and transferred to a print substrate. At this time, excess ink adhering to the roll is scraped off by the roll. Hereinafter, this method is called a roll method, and the inking roll having fine cells formed on its surface is called an anilox roll. In this method, since the ink is in contact with the atmosphere, that is, working in an open system, there are many disadvantages associated with the open system. Since the 1990s, a method of circulating ink using an ink circulation device in a closed system, that is, a space in contact with an anilox roll, has become widespread. Hereinafter, this method is called a doctor chamber method, and the space in contact with the anilox roll is called a chamber. A doctor blade is attached to the upper and lower portions of the chamber to prevent the ink from being scraped off and from leaking. In the doctor chamber system, only one anilox roll is provided, whereas in the roll system, a plurality of rolls are provided. Comparing the two methods, the doctor chamber method deteriorates the ink performance due to the addition of shear due to the air contact and the rotation of the roll, which occurs in the roll method, and the amount of ink to be discarded during ink replacement or color change is large. Most of the troubles such as troublesome cleaning of the roll can be avoided. On the other hand, there are problems such as maintenance and management of the ink circulation system and cleaning of the inside of the circulation device when ink is replaced. It takes time and effort, especially when the ink viscosity is high. The outline of the ink supply device is described in a document (Takeshi Yoshikawa, Journal of the Printing Society of Japan, 39, 377 (2002)).
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the roll method, kneading and stirring of ink are repeated by rotation of a plurality of rolls. This overlaps with the open system, which causes oxidation and emulsification over time, and furthermore, becomes a mist and disperses, or the solvent evaporates, resulting in an imbalance in the vehicle, pigment and solvent, lowering printability and causing air pollution. It will be. The doctor chamber method solves the above-mentioned problems due to the combination of a single roll and a closed system, but problems associated with the incorporation of a circulation device, such as cleaning of piping when replacing ink. In many cases, replacement is troublesome and costly and time-consuming.
[0004]
Comparing the amount of ink in the ink supply device, the amount of ink to be discarded at the time of ink replacement is not small in the roll method because the capacity of the ink tray is large. On the other hand, in the doctor chamber system, the capacity of the chamber is small, and the number of inks to be discarded can be reduced because of the single roll. Furthermore, if the ink circulation device is removed, the amount of ink that must be discarded can be further reduced, and maintenance and management become easier.
[0005]
One of the reasons why the maintenance of the doctor chamber system is so difficult is that it is designed to withstand the use of high-viscosity ink, for example, 100 poise or more. However, in flexographic printing and gravure printing, which are the main applications, low-viscosity inks of 1 to 1.5 poise or 0.5 to 1 poise are used, respectively. Therefore, design specifications for high viscosity inks are not necessary. By the way, the viscosity of flexographic printing and gravure printing ink is about 1000 times the viscosity of water (1 centipoise), and there is no practical problem even if the measures such as pumping the ink and using a highly soluble solvent for cleaning are omitted. There is no.
[0006]
The present invention focuses on printing using a low-viscosity ink, that is, flexographic printing or gravure printing, and aims to use the ink as an ink supply device. The present invention embodies the concept of supplying the ink in the chamber onto the anilox roll simply by turning over the container after connecting the connected hoses and filling the ink. The present invention employs a method of replenishing consumption without repeatedly using ink. Therefore, since the circulation device can be removed from the existing doctor chamber, the ink replacement operation is extremely easy, and the printability can be stabilized. It is possible to shorten the process of replacing the printing, reduce the amount of waste of ink, and respond to the strong demand of users to obtain high quality printed matter.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An apparatus for solving the above problems will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a side view showing one embodiment of a doctor chamber device according to the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 1, in this doctor chamber apparatus, a joint nipple 5 is connected to one end, and an ink supply pipe 7 and an ink container 1 are connected to the ink container 1 at the other end in contact with the ink level. It comprises a supply hose 6 and an ink container 1. When the container 1 is connected to the doctor chamber 2 via 5 and then turned over, the ink naturally flows to compensate for the ink level 8 in the doctor chamber 2 when the ink level 8 in the doctor chamber 2 is lowered, and is supplied onto the anilox roll 4. . More specifically, the doctor chamber device includes a chamber 2 in contact with an anilox roll 4 and two doctor blades 3 at upper and lower portions. The ink sent into the chamber is filled into fine cells formed on the surface of the anilox roll, and then transferred to the printing substrate. The doctor blade 3 has a function of preventing ink from leaking from the chamber and also uniformly filling the fine cells of the anilox roll 4 with ink.
In addition, this apparatus can be used by removing the ink supply port (not shown) from the doctor chamber apparatus mounted on the printing press and connecting it instead.
[0008]
[Action]
This doctor chamber device is configured as described above, and can supply ink to the anilox roll quantitatively. The operation will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 2 shows a state in which the ink is filled, and FIG. 3 shows a state in which the ink is consumed and the ink level is lowered with the progress of the printing operation.
The ink flows down from the inverted ink container 1 through the supply hose 6, the joint nipple 5, and the supply pipe 7, and comes into contact with the ink liquid surface in the doctor chamber 2. At this point, the ink flow stops and the liquid levels in 8 and 1 stabilize (see FIG. 2). When the ink is consumed by the printing operation and the liquid level is lowered, the state shown in FIG. 3 is obtained. The ink is supplied until the ink returns to the original state. This phenomenon continues until the ink in the ink container 1 runs out.
[0009]
As described above, when the liquid level of the doctor chamber apparatus drops as the ink is consumed, the ink is supplied until the liquid level recovers. In other words, the ink can be stably supplied to the roll surface by a very simple operation of turning over after connecting the ink container to the chamber device. It is sufficient to simply connect the supply pipe, and no special device for circulation such as a pressure pump is required. Nevertheless, the ink can be stably supplied to the roll surface.
[0010]
The principle of the present invention is that the pressure in the space formed at the bottom of the ink container and the air pressure in the doctor chamber, which are caused by the ink flowing down due to the overturning of the ink container, are in equilibrium, and the movement of the ink is stopped. The liquid level is stabilized. When the liquid level in the doctor chamber is lowered, the ink is continuously supplied until the equilibrium is restored. Therefore, it cannot be applied to a high viscosity ink, but a viscosity range of 10 to 0.1 poise is applicable. 1.5-0.5 poise is preferred. Every time,
[00011]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, the ink which is not chemically or physically damaged is supplied to the printing material, so that the printing suitability is stabilized. Therefore, a printed matter having a stable print quality can be obtained. Furthermore, no special equipment is required for reusing the ink. This not only contributes to the stabilization of print quality but also the problems associated with the installation of a circulation device, such as energy costs, reduction of waste when replacing ink, and reduction of maintenance costs such as cleaning, in addition to equipment costs. It is valid.
