TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a lithium ion secondary battery.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, the development of electronic devices, particularly portable electronic devices, has been remarkable, and accordingly, the development of batteries having a high energy density has been desired. As such a battery, a lithium ion secondary battery has been widely used as a power source for portable equipment because of its extremely high energy density. Lithium ion secondary batteries are mainly composed of a cathode, an anode, a separator, and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution, and various studies have been made to further improve the characteristics of each battery.
[0003]
For example, batteries in which battery characteristics are improved by adding vinylene carbonate to a non-aqueous electrolyte solution using propylene carbonate as a solvent have been proposed (for example, see

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the conventional lithium ion secondary batteries described in
[0006]
Moreover, in the conventional lithium ion secondary battery, the decomposition of propylene carbonate occurs immediately after the production as described above, and during use or storage of the battery, gas is generated inside these cases and the internal pressure increases. There was a problem. If the case is made of film, the case may swell during use or storage of the battery, or the seal of the case may be peeled off, resulting in liquid leakage, and sufficient reliability. Was not obtained.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems of the related art, and in particular, it is possible to obtain excellent charge / discharge characteristics in an operating temperature range of −20 to + 25 ° C., and to further improve the charge / discharge characteristics over a long period of time. An object of the present invention is to provide a lithium ion secondary battery that can be maintained and has excellent reliability.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventors have conducted intensive studies to achieve the above object, and as a result, while adjusting the component composition of the solvent of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution so as to satisfy the following conditions, a specific unsaturated double The inventors have found that the inclusion of a cyclic carbonate compound having a bond is extremely effective for achieving the above object, and have reached the present invention.
[0009]
That is, the lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention is an anode, a cathode, an insulating separator disposed between the anode and the cathode, a non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing a lithium salt, an anode, a cathode, a separator, And a case accommodating the non-aqueous electrolyte solution in a sealed state, wherein the component of the solvent contained in the non-aqueous electrolyte solution is propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, and diethyl carbonate. And the content X [vol%] of propylene carbonate, the content Y [vol%] of ethylene carbonate, and the content Z [vol%] of diethyl carbonate in the solvent are represented by the following formulas (1) to (4). And the compound represented by the following general formula (I) is contained in the non-aqueous electrolyte solution. Characterized in that it contains 6% by weight.
[0010]
10 ≦ X ≦ 40 (1)
1 ≦ Y ≦ 20 (2)
30 ≦ Z ≦ 85 (3)
X + Y + Z = 100 (4)

[0012]
In the above formula (I), R1And R2May be the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms;1And R2Is preferably a hydrogen atom.
[0013]
The lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention has a configuration in which the non-aqueous electrolyte solution satisfies the above-mentioned conditions. The charge / discharge characteristics in a relatively low operating temperature (−20 to + 25 ° C.) range can be improved while maintaining the same or higher level. Further, by adding a predetermined amount of a cyclic carbonate compound having a specific unsaturated double bond to the non-aqueous electrolyte solution, sufficiently high reliability can be obtained together with further improvement of each property.
[0014]
Here, in the present invention, the electrodes serving as the anode and the cathode serve as a reaction field capable of reversibly proceeding an electron transfer reaction in which lithium ions (or metallic lithium) participate as redox species. Further, "promoting the electron transfer reaction reversibly" means that the electron transfer reaction proceeds reversibly within a range of a battery life required as a power supply or an auxiliary power supply of a device to be mounted. .
[0015]
The anode active material contained in the anode as a constituent material and the cathode active material contained in the cathode as a constituent material represent substances that contribute to the electron transfer reaction. The anode active material and the cathode active material may be a carbon material or a metal oxide having a structure capable of inserting and extracting lithium ions or desorbing and inserting (intercalating) lithium ions. In addition, as an anode active material and / or a cathode active material, a lithium ion such as a conductive polymer and a counter anion of the lithium ion (for example, ClO4 −) May be used alone or together with another active material.
[0016]
For convenience of description, in this specification, the “anode” in the case of “anode active material” refers to a material based on the polarity at the time of battery discharge (negative electrode active material), and is referred to as “cathode active material”. The "cathode" in this case is also based on the polarity at the time of discharging the battery (positive electrode active material). Specific examples of the anode active material and the cathode active material will be described later.
[0017]
In the lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention, the case is formed of a flexible film (hereinafter, referred to as “film”), and is formed using at least a pair of films opposed to each other. It is preferable that the film is a composite packaging film having at least an innermost layer made of a synthetic resin in contact with the nonaqueous electrolyte solution and a metal layer disposed above the innermost layer.
[0018]
When the case is formed from a film in this manner, the shape of the lithium ion secondary battery itself can be made thin. Therefore, the original volume energy density can be easily improved, and the energy density per unit volume of the installation space where the lithium ion secondary battery is to be installed (hereinafter referred to as “the volume of the space to be installed, The volume energy density) can be easily improved.
[0019]
Note that the “volume energy density” of a lithium ion secondary battery is essentially the total volume of a portion (“element body” to be described later) composed of an electrode and a separator of the lithium ion secondary battery and contributing to power generation or a whole including a container. It is defined as the ratio of the total output energy to the product. On the other hand, the “volume energy density based on the volume of the space to be installed” is defined as the lithium with respect to the apparent volume calculated based on the maximum length, maximum width and maximum thickness of the lithium ion secondary battery It means the ratio of the total output energy of the ion secondary battery. Actually, when a lithium ion secondary battery is mounted on a small electronic device, it is necessary to improve the volume energy density based on the volume of the space to be installed together with the improvement of the original volume energy density described above. This is important from the viewpoint of effectively utilizing the limited space in the device while the dead space is sufficiently reduced.
[0020]
Further, in the lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention, the anode and the cathode each have a plate-like shape, and each include an electron conductive porous body as a constituent material, and the separator has a plate-like shape. It is preferable that the nonaqueous electrolyte solution has a shape and is made of an insulating porous material, and at least a part of the nonaqueous electrolyte solution is contained in the anode, the cathode, and the inside of the separator. By adopting such a configuration, the volume energy density based on the volume of the space to be installed can be further improved. The above-mentioned plate shape includes a flat plate shape and a curved plate shape.
[0021]

This film is not particularly limited as long as it is a flexible film. However, while ensuring sufficient mechanical strength and light weight of the case, moisture and air can enter from inside the case to the inside of the case and from the inside of the case to the outside of the case. Further, a material having a property of low permeability to components of the nonaqueous electrolyte solution is preferable. For example, engineering plastics, and thermoplastic resins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, modified polyethylene acid, modified polypropylene acid, polyethylene ionomer, and polypropylene ionomer are exemplified.
[0035]
In addition, "engineering plastic" means a plastic having excellent mechanical properties, heat resistance, and durability as used in mechanical parts, electric parts, housing materials, and the like. For example, polyacetal, polyamide, Examples include polycarbonate, polyoxytetramethyleneoxyterephthaloyl (polybutylene terephthalate), polyethylene terephthalate, polyimide, and polyphenylene sulfide.

The anode active material includes occlusion and release of lithium ions, desorption and insertion (intercalation) of lithium ions, or lithium ions and a counter anion of the lithium ions (for example, ClO 2).4 −) Is not particularly limited as long as it can reversibly proceed with doping and undoping, and a known anode active material can be used. Examples of such an active material include carbon materials such as natural graphite and artificial graphite (hardly graphitized carbon, easily graphitized carbon, low-temperature calcined carbon, etc.), and lithium such as Al, Si, and Sn. Metal, SiO2, SnO2An amorphous compound mainly composed of an oxide such as lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12). Among them, a carbon material is preferable, and the interlayer distance d of the carbon material is d.002Is 0.335 to 0.338 nm and the crystallite size Lc of the carbon material is002Is more preferably 30 to 120 nm. Examples of the carbon material satisfying such conditions include artificial graphite and MCF (mesocarbon fiber). The above-mentioned interlayer distance d002And the crystallite size Lc002Can be determined by an X-ray diffraction method.
[0044]
In particular, when a carbon material was used as the anode active material, when propylene carbonate was used as the solvent, the amount of propylene carbonate decomposed was large. However, by using the nonaqueous electrolyte solution of the present invention, decomposition of propylene carbonate was prevented. It has become possible to sufficiently suppress it.
[0045]
The conductive assistant is not particularly limited, and a known conductive assistant can be used. For example, carbon blacks, carbon materials, metal fine powders such as copper, nickel, stainless steel, iron, etc., a mixture of carbon materials and metal fine powders, and conductive oxides such as ITO can be used.
[0046]
The binder is not particularly limited as long as the binder can bind the particles of the anode active material and the particles of the conductive assistant. For example, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer (FEP), tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkylvinyl ether copolymer (PFA), ethylene-tetrafluoro Fluororesins such as ethylene copolymer (ETFE), polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer (ECTFE), and polyvinyl fluoride (PVF). Further, this binder contributes not only to the binding between the particles of the anode active material and the particles of the conductive auxiliary agent, but also to the binding to the foil (current collector 16).
[0047]
The anode active material-containing layer 18 preferably contains an electron conductive porous body. Examples of the electron conductive porous body include raw coal (eg, fluid catalytic cracking of petroleum heavy oil). A carbon material (for example, activated carbon) obtained by activating a bottom oil of an apparatus or a petroleum coke produced from a delayed coker using a residue oil of a vacuum distillation apparatus as a raw oil.

For example, lithium cobaltate (LiCoO)2), Lithium nickelate (LiNiO)2), Lithium manganese spinel (LiMn)2O4) And the general formula: LiNixCoyMnzO2A composite metal oxide represented by (x + y + z = 1), a lithium vanadium compound (LiV2O5), Olivine type LiMPO4(Where M represents Co, Ni, Mn or Fe), lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12) And the like.

In the same manner as in Example 1 except that the volume ratio of PC, EC and DEC used as the solvent of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution was changed as shown in Table 1, and the amount of VC was changed as shown in the same table. Lithium ion secondary batteries of Examples 2 to 10 and Comparative Examples 1 to 6 were produced.
[0078]
[Table 1]
[0079]
Using the obtained lithium ion secondary batteries of Examples 1 to 10 and Comparative Examples 1 to 6, the characteristics of each battery were evaluated.
[0080]
(Initial charge / discharge characteristics)
After the production of the lithium ion secondary battery, the first charge was performed at 25 ° C., and immediately thereafter, the discharge was performed. The initial charge / discharge characteristics were evaluated based on the ratio between the charge capacity and the discharge capacity at that time. Note that charging was performed at a constant current and constant voltage up to 4.2 V at 0.2 C (500 mA), and discharging was performed at a constant current up to 2.5 V at 0.2 C. The obtained results are shown in Tables 2 to 4, and batteries having a result of more than 75% were evaluated as having practically sufficient initial charge / discharge characteristics.
[0081]
(High rate discharge characteristics)
Discharge capacity (A) when constant current discharge was performed at 25 ° C and 2C (5000 mA).2C) And a discharge capacity (A) when a constant current discharge is performed at 0.5 C (1250 mA).0.5C) Was evaluated for high-rate discharge characteristics. The obtained results are shown in Tables 2 to 4, and batteries having a result of more than 60% were evaluated as having practically sufficient high-rate discharge characteristics.
[0082]
(Low temperature charge / discharge characteristics)
After performing constant current and constant voltage charging to 4.2 V at 25 ° C. and 1 C (2500 mA), holding at −20 ° C. for 3 hours, performing 1 C discharge at a cutoff of 2.5 V, and discharging capacity at −20 ° C. (A-20° C) and 25 ° C discharge capacity (A25℃) and low temperature charge / discharge characteristics (hereinafter referred to as “low temperature characteristics”) (A-20° C / A25° C). Furthermore, the discharge capacity (A) when the battery was discharged in the same manner as described above after being maintained at −10 ° C.-10° C), and the discharge capacity (A0° C) and 25 ° C discharge capacity (A25℃), the low-temperature characteristics (A-10° C / A25℃) and low temperature characteristics (A0° C / A25° C). The obtained results are shown in Tables 2 and 3.
[0083]
It was confirmed that the batteries of Examples 1 to 6 had sufficient high-rate discharge characteristics and sufficient low-temperature characteristics. In addition, since the batteries of Examples 7 to 10 had sufficient high-rate discharge characteristics, it was inferred that the low-temperature characteristics were also sufficient. Therefore, the low-temperature characteristics were not evaluated. The batteries of Comparative Examples 1 to 6 were not practical because the high-rate discharge characteristics were insufficient, and it was estimated that the low-temperature characteristics were also insufficient. Did not.
[0084]
(reliability)
Further, the lithium ion secondary battery was left at 90 ° C. for 4 hours, and the thickness before and after the storage was compared (swelling during storage at 90 ° C.). Tables 2 and 4 show the obtained results. The data shown in Tables 2 and 4 and described as “reliability” are the thicknesses (F1), The thickness after standing (F2) Increase (F2-F1) To the relative value {(F2-F1) / F1} (%). Also, batteries with a result of less than 10% were evaluated as having sufficiently high reliability for practical use. The data of the batteries of Examples 4 to 6 were not described, but the thickness was hardly increased.
[0085]
[Table 2]
[0086]
[Table 3]
[0087]
[Table 4]
[0088]
As is clear from the results shown in Tables 2 to 4, the lithium ion secondary batteries of Examples 1 to 10 are excellent in the initial charge / discharge characteristics and the high-rate discharge characteristics, and at low temperatures (−20 ° C. to 25 ° C.). (° C.). In addition, it was confirmed that the batteries of Examples 1 to 10 had excellent reliability. Although not described above, in the anodes of Examples 1 to 10, almost no expansion of graphite was observed.
[0089]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, excellent charge / discharge characteristics can be obtained in the operating temperature range of −20 to + 25 ° C., and further, the charge / discharge characteristics can be maintained for a long time, and excellent reliability can be obtained. And a lithium ion secondary battery having the same.
