【0037】
ヘッド本体Hと溶接材10とのヘッド表面における境界13を隠蔽する表面処理としては、前述の色つき塗装の他、メッキ、溶射、CVD(Chemical Vapor deposition)やPVD(Physical Vapor Deposition)などの蒸着、等を用いることができる。
【0038】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a golf club head formed by welding a face member and a head body.
[0002]
[Prior art]
With the increase in size and rebound of golf club heads, the thickness of the face portion for hitting the ball tends to be reduced and the face area tends to be increased. For this reason, higher strength and durability are required for the face portion. As a countermeasure, it is widely practiced to use a face member that is a face member separate from the head body and weld the face member to the head body. In this way, a material having a particularly high strength can be used for the face portion, while a material that can be easily molded or a relatively inexpensive material can be used for the head body.
[0003]
Face members are roughly classified into two types: those including a part of a portion other than the face portion for hitting the ball (a crown portion, a sole portion, a side portion, and the like) and those including only the face portion. In general, the face surface, which is the outer surface of the face portion of the golf club head, has a flat shape or a curved shape having a bulge and a roll and having a relatively small curvature. The portions other than the face portion are bent from the periphery of the face portion and extend in the back face direction. Therefore, when the face member includes a portion other than the face portion, the shape of the face member is a cup-like shape (cup shape) having the face portion as a bottom surface or a U-shaped cross section. When the face member is composed only of the face portion, the shape of the face member is a plate shape (plate shape) such as a planar shape or a curved shape with a relatively small curvature.
[0004]
A plate-shaped face member can be easily manufactured by bending a rolled plate with a press. In addition, since some high-strength materials used for the face member are difficult to cast or forge, the degree of freedom in material selection is broadened if the shape is simple and the processing is easy. For these reasons, plate-shaped face members are widely used (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The plate-shaped face member is generally fixed and welded into the opening provided in the head body, but the plate-shaped face member does not extend to any part other than the face portion. The boundary between the welding material and the other member that fills the gap between the face member and the head main body is located on the face surface. On the other hand, a golf club head is generally subjected to a surface treatment such as painting, but the surface of the material is often exposed by mirror finishing or satin stitch polishing without being painted on the face surface. The reason is that the appearance (design) of the head is accepted by the golfer, and that the coating on the face surface may adversely affect the resilience, spin performance, feel and the like. As described above, when the material surface is exposed without coating the face surface, the boundary between the welding material and the other member existing on the face surface is visually observed.
[0007]
If the material of the member to be welded and the welding material are the same, the color of both is the same, so the boundary is not noticeable. However, if the material differs between the head body and the face member, the material of the welding material cannot be matched to both. Therefore, even if the material of the welding material is matched with one member, the material is different from the other member, and a material color difference is generated. Therefore, conventionally, the boundary between the welding material, the head main body, and the face member is concealed by painting, or the boundary is polished to make the boundary inconspicuous. For this reason, the surface treatment of the head is limited, which is a major limitation in the head design. In addition, there is a possibility that the head main body and the face member can be selected from different materials and having a small material color difference between them, but in this case, the degree of freedom in selecting the material is significantly reduced.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and in a golf club head in which a welded portion between the face member and the head main body exists on the face surface, the boundary between the welding material, the head main body, and the face member is inconspicuous. In addition, an object is to increase the freedom of material selection and design selection.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve such an object, in the present invention, a face member having a part of a face surface for hitting a ball and a head body made of a material different from the face member are welded via a welding material. The face member and the welding material are made of the same color material, and a part of the welding material is present on the surface of the head main body and constitutes a face surface. Yes.
[0010]
In this case, since the face member does not have the entire face surface but only a part thereof, at least a part of the boundary between the face member and the welding material is located on the face surface. Since the face member and the welding material are made of the same color material, this boundary is not noticeable even when visually observed. Therefore, even if a surface treatment that allows visual observation of the material, such as mirror finishing, satin polishing, or transparent clear coating, is adopted, the boundary between the face member and the welding material becomes inconspicuous.
[0011]
Further, a part of the welding material forms the face surface while existing on the surface of the head main body. Then, the surface of the head main body existing inside the face surface is covered with the welding material. As a result, the members constituting the face surface are increased in the number of parts made of the same color material, that is, the face member and the weld material, and therefore, the portion having no color difference among the members forming the face surface is increased. . Furthermore, since the head body and the face member are made of different materials, it is possible to make each member an optimum material by using a material that can be easily molded for the head body and a high-strength material for the face member. .
[0012]
Further, the boundary between the head body and the welding material on the head surface may be located on the ridge line of the peripheral edge of the face surface. In this case, the boundary between the head main body and the welding material on the head surface is located at the ridge line of the peripheral edge of the face surface, so that the boundary between the head main body and the welding material does not exist in the face surface. Accordingly, it is not necessary to color the surface of the face surface to conceal the boundary between the head body and the welding material. In addition, since the boundary between the head body and the welding material on the head surface overlaps with the ridgeline and the boundary line and the ridgeline coincide with each other, this boundary is not noticeable even if it is not concealed with colored paint or the like.
[0013]
Further, the surface treatment applied on the surface of the head may be configured to conceal the boundary on the head surface between the head main body and the welding material. In this case, the boundary between the head main body and the welding material on the head surface is concealed by surface treatment such as colored coating, so that the boundary between the two is not visually recognized and is inconspicuous. Therefore, it is not necessary to match both material colors.
[0014]
The outer surface of the face member, the outer surface of the welding material, and the boundary between the face member and the welding material may be visible on the face surface. In this way, the head base material, such as mirror finish or transparent coating, is applied to the entire outer surface of the face member, the boundary between the face member and the welding material located around the face member, and the outer surface of the welding material located around the face member. It can have an appearance that makes use of its own color and gloss. The visible state means a state where the surface of the material itself such as the face member and the welding material can be visually observed. In addition to the case where these materials themselves are exposed, the surface of these materials is transparent or This includes cases where translucent paint (clear paint, color clear paint, etc.) is applied.
