【0011】
P=(αe・ΔTj+re・I)・I …… (1)
【0015】
P=Vc・I …… (2)

Imax=Ismaxである。
【0050】
Psmax=Vsmax・I=V・Ismax=Pimax=Pvmax

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a heat exchange device that heats and cools an object to be temperature controlled using a Peltier device, and more particularly, to a heat exchange device that drives a Peltier device under constant power control to improve heating and cooling capacity. The present invention relates to a device and a method for driving a Peltier element used in the device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, as a device for cooling or heating a fluid such as various processing chemicals used in a semiconductor manufacturing line to obtain a fluid at a constant temperature, an electronic cooling device (Peltier device) that performs cooling and heating using the Peltier effect is known. Have been.
[0003]
When manufacturing a heat exchange device incorporating a Peltier element, it is important to effectively bring out the heating or cooling performance of the Peltier element.
[0004]
Conventionally, as a method of driving a Peltier element in this type of heat exchange device, a method of driving by a constant voltage control or a constant current control has been generally used as disclosed in
[0005]
However, these driving methods cannot drive the Peltier element efficiently due to the peculiarity of the Peltier element when driven as a load.
[0006]
Here, the peculiarity when the Peltier element is driven as a load will be described.
[0007]
As is well known, a Peltier element is configured by alternately arranging a plurality of N-type and P-type semiconductor thermoelectric conversion elements in the vertical and horizontal directions, and then adjoining adjacent elements by upper and lower bonding plates (metal electrodes). It has a structure in which it is electrically connected to each other so as to be electrically connected in series. One side of the thermoelectric conversion element is cooled by flowing a current from an element driving power supply, for example, in the direction from N-type to P-type, and the other side is cooled. It generates heat.
[0008]
That is, when driven as a load, the Peltier element is placed in an environment in which a temperature difference occurs between the junction of the thermoelectric conversion element with the upper heat exchange substrate and the junction with the lower heat exchange substrate.
[0009]
The power when the Peltier element is driven as a load under such an environment will be verified with reference to an equivalent circuit shown in FIG.

In this equivalent circuit, the power P required to drive the

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, in the conventional heat exchange device using the Peltier element as the heating / cooling source, the Peltier element is generally driven by the constant current control or the constant voltage control. However, when the Peltier element is driven as the load. Due to the peculiarity, that is, the property that the resistance value and the electromotive force of the element change depending on the temperature difference ΔTj between the element junctions, the Peltier element is driven with the maximum power along with ΔTj in any of the above driving methods. In this case, the heating / cooling ability is impaired due to the region where the temperature control cannot be performed. In particular, when applied to a heat exchange device having a steep temperature control cycle, it takes a long time to heat and cool the temperature controlled object to the target temperature.
In an attempt to improve this, there is a method of using both constant current control and constant voltage control. However, control involving control switching is complicated, and is not practical.
As a result, in the conventional heat exchange device, the heating / cooling ability of the Peltier device cannot be maximized, and there is a problem that it takes a long time to heat and cool the temperature control target to the target temperature.
[0021]
The present invention solves the above-mentioned problems, and can maximize the heating / cooling ability of a Peltier element, and can shorten the time for heating / cooling an object to be temperature-controlled to a target temperature, and a heat exchange device used for the same. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for driving a Peltier device.
[0022]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, an invention according to
[0023]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect of the present invention, when the control unit controls the temperature of the temperature control target from a current temperature to a target temperature, the control unit sets the temperature control target to a target temperature from a current temperature. The constant power circuit is controlled such that maximum power is supplied from the element driving power supply to the Peltier element during a predetermined period until the temperature reaches the temperature.
[0024]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the second aspect of the present invention, the maximum power includes a power region that cannot be output by constant current control and constant voltage control when the same element driving power supply is used. It is characterized by.
[0025]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of driving a Peltier element used as a heating / cooling means of a heat exchange device for heating / cooling an object to be temperature controlled, wherein a constant power is supplied between the Peltier element and an element driving power supply. A circuit is provided, and the Peltier element is driven to generate heat and cool by constant power control.
[0026]
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, when the temperature of the temperature control target is detected and the temperature of the temperature control target is controlled from a current temperature to a target temperature in the fourth aspect of the present invention, During a predetermined period from when the object reaches the target temperature to the target temperature, control is performed so that maximum power is supplied from the element driving power supply to the Peltier element.
[0027]
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the fifth aspect of the invention, the maximum power includes a power region that cannot be output by constant current control and constant voltage control when the same element driving power supply is used. It is characterized by.
[0028]
According to the first and fourth aspects of the present invention, since the Peltier element is driven to generate heat and cool under constant power control, the resistance value and the electromotive force of the element change depending on the temperature difference between the element junctions. Due to the peculiarity of driving the Peltier element as a load, it is possible to effectively utilize the power range that could not be output by the constant current control or the constant voltage control to maximize the heating / cooling capacity of the Peltier element.
[0029]
According to the second and third aspects and the fifth and sixth aspects of the present invention, during the period until the temperature of the temperature control target reaches the target temperature, the output can be performed by the constant current control or the constant voltage control. This is the power in the area that was not available, and the Peltier element can be driven in a state that maximizes its heating / cooling capacity using the maximum power of the element driving power supply, and is the same element as during constant current control or constant voltage control. Even when the drive power supply is used, the time required for the temperature of the temperature control target to reach the target temperature can be significantly reduced as compared with the constant current control and the constant voltage control.
[0030]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0031]
FIG. 1 is a conceptual diagram showing a method of driving a Peltier device according to the present invention.

[0036]
In creating the invention of the driving method based on the constant power control, the inventor of the present invention has the disadvantage described in the section of the prior art, that is, when the thermo module (Peltier element) is driven by the constant current control or the constant voltage control, The analysis was started from the analysis of the cause of a region range (see FIG. 12) where maximum power could not be output due to ΔTj (temperature difference between element junctions).
[0037]
Here, prior to the description of the method of driving the thermo module by the constant power control in FIG. 1, analysis of inconvenience by the conventional driving method will be described first.
[0038]
As described in the section of the prior art [Expression (1), Expression (2), see FIG. 11], the voltage Vc across the thermo module is, for example, when there is no temperature difference between both ends of the element (ΔTj = 0). Vc = re · I, and when there is a temperature difference (ΔTj ≠ 0), Vc = (αe · ΔTj + re · I).
[0039]
In other words, when driven as a load, the thermomodule has a peculiarity that, when there is a temperature difference between both ends of the element, it is necessary to apply an extra voltage of αe · ΔTj to overcome the thermoelectromotive force due to the Seebeck effect.
[0040]
Based on this point, the characteristics of the case where the thermo module is driven with a constant current (constant current control) and the case where the thermo module is driven with a constant voltage (constant voltage control) will be verified with reference to FIGS.
[0041]
1) Characteristics when the thermo module is driven with a constant current (constant current control)
Assuming that the maximum power for driving the thermomodule under constant current control is Pimax, the relationship between ΔTj and the module driving power Pi has the characteristics shown in FIG.
[0042]
Here, assuming that the maximum output current of the element driving power supply (constant current power supply) is I amperes and the maximum output voltage Vsmax, Pimax = Vsmax · I.
[0043]
Vsmax needs to be able to flow I amps where ΔTj is the maximum in the usage range (ΔTjmax). That is, it is necessary that Vsmax ≧ (αe · ΔTjmax + re · I).
[0044]
On the other hand, when ΔTj = 0, since there is no thermoelectromotive force due to αe · ΔTj, there is a margin in the output voltage and extra current can be supplied to the thermo module. The current when the amount is 100% is I amperes, and cannot flow more than I amperes.
[0045]
Accordingly, the driving power when ΔTj = 0 is suppressed by Pi.
[0046]
As a result, as shown in FIG. 2, a region a21 in which the maximum output power of the element driving power supply cannot be used effectively occurs. Note that the area a21 in FIG. 2 corresponds to the area a121 in FIG.
[0047]
2) Characteristics when the thermo module is driven at a constant voltage (constant voltage control)
Similarly, assuming that the maximum value of the drive power in the element drive power supply (constant-voltage power supply) is Pvmax, the relationship between ΔTj and the module drive power Pv is a characteristic shown in FIG.
[0048]
In this element driving power supply (constant voltage power supply), if the maximum output voltage is V volts and the maximum output current Ismax, then Pvmax = V · Ismax.
[0049]
Since Pvmax is determined, the maximum output voltage V of the constant voltage power supply is determined by the maximum current Imax flowing through the thermo module. Imax is determined by the current when ΔTj = 0,
Imax = Ismax.
[0050]
Therefore, once Imax is determined, the maximum output voltage V is V = Imax · re because the condition of Imax flowing is when ΔTj = 0, and becomes the maximum voltage V output at 100% of the operation amount.
[0051]
However, as ΔTj increases, the thermoelectromotive force due to (αe · ΔTj) increases, and in a region of ΔTJ ≠ 0, Imax cannot flow at the maximum voltage V.
[0052]
That is, in the region of ΔTj ≠ 0 (region a31 in FIG. 3), the maximum power Pvmax cannot be output, and the maximum output power of the element driving power supply cannot be effectively used. Note that the region a31 in FIG. 3 corresponds to the region a122 in FIG.
[0053]
As described above, when the constant current control is performed, the power region a21 (corresponding to the region a121 in FIG. 12) in FIG. 2 cannot be used effectively, and when the constant voltage control is performed, the power region a31 (FIG. (Corresponding to the area a122 in FIG. 12) cannot be used effectively.
[0054]
Based on the above analysis results, the present inventor has proposed a control method as shown in FIG. 1 as a control method that enables output to a region that cannot be output by constant current control or constant voltage control and effectively utilizes the maximum output power of the element driving power supply. A drive system with constant power control was created.
[0055]
As shown in FIG. 1, in the present invention, the
[0056]
Specifically, the element driving

With this constant power control, a direct current is supplied from the element driving
[0058]
As a result, the
[0059]
Conversely, when a direct current is supplied from the element driving
[0060]
Here, the element driving
Psmax = Vsmax · I = V · Ismax = Pimax = Pvmax
Holds.
[0061]
If it is assumed that Ipmax = Ismax, Vpmax = Vsmax, and the element current when ΔTj = 0 is set to be Ipmax = Ismax, then the power region (element applied voltage and element (Correspondence relationship between currents) and a power region used during constant voltage control, and used when the
[0062]
As shown in the figure, in the constant power control, when the element current is Ismax, the element applied voltage is V volt from the relationship of Psmax = Pvmax = V · Ismax.
[0063]
Then, as ΔTj increases, the element applied voltage passes through a region a43 limited by Psmax, and when the element applied voltage reaches Vpmax = Vsmax, the element current is represented by the relationship of Psmax = Pimax = Vsmax · I. To I amperes.
[0064]
Therefore, by performing the constant power control, in addition to the area a41 that can be used by the constant current control and the area a42 that can be used by the constant voltage control, the area that cannot be used by the constant current control or the constant voltage control ( The region a43) can also be used (see FIG. 4), and the startup time during heating and cooling can be shortened.
[0065]
In other words, even when the maximum output power is the same as when the constant current control or the constant voltage control is used, even when the element

The output characteristics shown in FIG. 8 are the same as those used in the comparison of the voltage / current characteristics in FIG. 7 with the element driving
[0095]
As can be seen from FIG. 8, in the constant current control, the power gradually increases as the temperature of the circulating fluid increases.
[0096]
On the other hand, according to the constant power control, substantially constant power (maximum power) is output from the start of heating of the circulating fluid until the target temperature is reached.
[0097]
As described above, being drivable with the maximum electric power from the start of heating predicts that the circulating fluid can be heated to the target temperature in a short time.
[0098]
Therefore, the inventor of the present invention compares the heating time with the operation method shown in FIGS. 9 and 10 for the constant power control and the constant current control with respect to the thermomodule, and drives the thermomodule by the constant power control, whereby the circulation is more efficient. It was confirmed that the liquid could be heated to the target temperature in a shorter time.

In addition, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and shown in the drawings, and can be appropriately modified and implemented within a scope that does not change the gist of the present invention.
[0108]
For example, in the above-described embodiment, the heat exchange device that heats and cools a fluid such as a processing chemical solution used in a semiconductor manufacturing line using a Peltier device (thermo module) has been described. The present invention is applicable to a general heat exchange device that heats and cools various objects as a heating / cooling source.
[0109]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, since the Peltier element is driven to generate heat and cool under constant power control, the resistance value and the electromotive force of the element change due to the temperature difference between the element junctions. Due to the peculiarity of driving as a constant current control and constant voltage control, it is possible to effectively utilize the power range that could not be output and maximize the heating and cooling capacity of the Peltier element, and the output power is larger than necessary The time for heating and cooling the temperature control target to the target temperature can be reduced without preparing a power supply.
