Abstract
Description
【0001】
従来、CD(compact disc)やMO(magnetic optical disk)などの光ディスクに対する信号(情報)の記録・再生を行うために、光ピックアップが使用されている。

【0014】
本光源装置は、再生専用型のCD(compact disc),CD−ROM(compact disc read only memory),DVD−ROM(digital versatile disc read only memory),一回記録型のCD−R(compact disc recordable),DVD−R(digital versatile disc recordable),書換型のMO(magnetic optical disk),PD(phase−change disk)DVD−RAM(digital versatile disc random access memory)などの、光を用いて記録および/または再生を行うタイプの記録媒体(光記録媒体)に対し、情報の記録・再生のための光を照射するものである。
【0015】

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when the APC operation is performed by detecting the output of the laser light, if a configuration as shown in FIG. 15 or an optical pickup of Patent Document 1 is used, a dedicated component (such as a prism) for changing the optical path of the laser light is used. ). Further, a space for arranging these dedicated components must be secured.
Also, in the optical pickup of
As described above, in the conventional optical pickup, it is necessary to provide a dedicated component other than the light amount monitor for detecting the output of the laser light. For this reason, the cost of the optical pickup is increased, and miniaturization of the optical pickup is prevented.
[0012]
Further, in the above-described conventional optical pickup, the laser light emission system (light source, diffraction grating, etc.) and the light amount monitor are formed separately.
For this reason, these positional relationships change due to environmental changes or the like, and a large error may occur in output detection.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, a light source device (the present light source device) of the present invention is a light source device that irradiates an output light from a light source to an optical recording medium via an output light branching element. A monitor light-receiving element for detection is provided, and the monitor light-receiving element is formed on a transparent substrate for fixing the position of the emission light branching element with respect to the light source.
[0014]
This light source device is a read-only type CD (compact disc), a CD-ROM (compact disc read only memory), a DVD-ROM (digital versatile disc read only memory), and a one-time recording type CD-R (compact disc disc). ), DVD-R (digital versatile disc recordable), rewritable MO (magnetic optical disk), PD (phase-change disk), DVD-RAM (digital versatile disc, etc.) Or, for recording / reproducing information on a recording medium (optical recording medium) It is to irradiate the eye of light.
[0015]
That is, in the light source device, light (emitted light) is generated by the light source. The optical path of the outgoing light is adjusted by the outgoing light branching element so that light can be applied to an appropriate position on the optical recording medium.
[0016]
In addition, the light source device includes a monitor light receiving element for detecting the light amount (output) of the emitted light. This is because recording / reproduction is appropriately performed by detecting and adjusting the amount of light.
[0017]
In particular, in the present light source device, the monitor light receiving element is formed on a transparent base material for fixing the position of the emission light splitting element with respect to the light source.
Here, the transparent substrate is a substrate that is transparent to the light of the light source, and is fixed to the light source, such as a substrate having an output light branching element or a table on which the substrate is mounted. It is.

That is, in the present light source device, since the monitoring light receiving element is formed on the existing transparent base material, a dedicated substrate for providing the monitoring light receiving element is not required. Therefore, the present light source device is a light source device which is inexpensive in manufacturing cost and can be easily reduced in size.
[0019]
Further, in the present light source device, since the monitoring light receiving element is formed on the substrate fixed to the light source, the monitoring light receiving element is also fixed to the light source (that is, the light source (optical path) and the monitoring light receiving element). Are integrally formed).
Therefore, even if a change in the environment occurs, the influence on the positional relationship between the light source (optical path) and the monitoring light receiving element can be reduced, and the error in output detection can be reduced.
[0020]
In addition, by providing the light source device in an optical disk device (a device that performs recording and / or reproduction on an optical disk (optical recording medium)), an optical disk device that is low in manufacturing cost, small in size, and has high light intensity detection accuracy can be realized.
[0021]
The above-mentioned outgoing light branching element is usually provided on a transparent substrate fixed to the light source. In the light source device, a monitor light receiving element may be provided on such a transparent substrate. With this configuration, the emission light branching element and the monitoring light receiving element can be formed on one substrate by a series of processes. Therefore, it is possible to further reduce the manufacturing cost.
[0022]
In this configuration, it is preferable that the light receiving element for monitoring is formed around the outgoing light branch element on the transparent substrate. With this configuration, of the light emitted from the light source toward the transparent substrate, the light that does not enter the emission light branching element, that is, the light that has deviated from the branching element, can be made to enter the monitoring light receiving element.
[0023]
Therefore, in this configuration, the amount of light is detected using light that escapes without passing through the output light branching element (light that does not reach the optical recording medium; dissipated light). Therefore, the light amount can be detected without reducing the light use efficiency.
Further, by disposing the monitoring light receiving element adjacent to the branching element so as to surround the output light branching element, more dissipated light can be used for light amount detection.
[0024]
Further, the light source device may include a reflected light receiving element for receiving the reflected light from the optical recording medium, and a reflected light branching element for guiding the reflected light from the optical recording medium to the reflected light receiving element. According to this structure, the light source device can be used as an optical pickup.
[0025]
Further, in this configuration, the outgoing light branching element is formed on the light source side surface (back surface) of the transparent substrate, and the reflected light branching element is formed on the front surface of the transparent substrate (the surface opposite to the back surface). You may make it. With this configuration, the size of the substrate can be reduced because the branch element is formed using both surfaces of the substrate. Therefore, the present light source device can be downsized.
[0026]
Also in this case, as described above, a monitoring light receiving element may be provided around the outgoing light branch element on the back surface of the transparent substrate.
Further, at this time, it is preferable to provide an empty area on the back surface of the substrate where the emitted light receiving element and the monitoring light receiving element are not provided. This makes it possible to guide the reflected light incident on the reflected light branching element on the front surface of the substrate to the reflected light receiving element without being blocked by the back surface of the substrate.
[0027]
Further, the monitoring light receiving element may be provided around the reflected light branching element on the transparent substrate.
In this case, the reflected light branching element is located on the optical path between the light source and the output light branching element. Therefore, in this case, it is preferable that the reflected light branching element is configured so as not to affect the emitted light.
Further, in this configuration, the monitoring light receiving element is formed on the surface of the transparent substrate. Therefore, when light is emitted radially from the light source, the light irradiation area is widened by the thickness of the substrate. Therefore, more light can be incident on the monitoring light receiving element.
[0028]
Further, the outgoing light branch element, the reflected light branch element, and the monitoring light receiving element may be formed on the same surface of the transparent substrate.
In this configuration, since the above three elements are formed on one surface of the substrate, it is not necessary to turn the substrate over in the manufacturing process. Therefore, manufacturing costs can be reduced.
Further, in this configuration, the reflected light receiving element may be provided on the back surface of the transparent substrate.
[0029]
The light source device preferably includes a cap (support) that covers the light source. Thereby, the light source can be protected from external force and contamination.
Further, such a cap preferably includes a transparent member, for example, a window glass, on the optical path so as not to block the optical path between the light source and the output light branching element.
[0030]
When a window glass is provided, the transparent substrate may be fixed on the window glass. Further, in this configuration, it is preferable that the monitor light receiving element is electrically connected to an output terminal formed on the cap by a conductive wire.
Thus, an output signal (electric signal) from the monitoring light receiving element can be easily output to an external circuit for performing signal processing.
[0031]
Further, the monitoring light receiving element may be provided on the window glass of the cap. In this case, it is preferable that the monitor light receiving element is formed on the window glass so as to surround the optical path between the light source and the emitted light light receiving element.
[0032]
Further, in the present light source device, it is preferable that the monitor light receiving element is formed of a silicon thin film.
This makes it possible to easily form the monitoring light receiving element by vapor deposition or the like, and to avoid an increase in the size of the apparatus due to the addition of the monitoring light receiving element.
[0033]

Therefore, in the light source device of the present invention, the light source device for adjusting the optical path of the light emitted from the light source by an optical element and irradiating the optical recording medium with the light is provided with an output detection element for detecting the output of the emitted light. Is provided in any one of the optical elements, and is preferably formed of a thin film of silicon.
[0097]
In addition to the above-mentioned CDs and MOs, DVDs (digital versatile disks) can be cited as optical discs compatible with the present pickup. In addition, the present pickup is not limited to an optical disk, but can be any optical recording medium of a type that performs recording or reproduction using light.
In the present embodiment, the present pickup records information by light. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and it is also possible to provide a magnetic field generation device in the present pickup, and perform recording / reproduction of information using light and a magnetic field of the semiconductor laser element 1.
Further, in the present embodiment, the semiconductor laser element 1 in the present pickup irradiates monochromatic laser light. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the semiconductor laser device 1 may be set so as to be able to irradiate laser beams of different wavelengths according to the type of the optical recording medium.

[0101]
Further, the light source device of the present invention adjusts the optical path of light emitted from the light source by a branching element and irradiates the optical recording medium with an output detection element for detecting the output of the emitted light. It can also be described that the element is configured to surround the branch element.
In this configuration, the light deviating from the branching element can be used for detecting the light amount, so that the light amount can be detected without reducing the irradiation light to the optical recording medium. Furthermore, if the output detection element is formed on the same substrate as the substrate on which the branch element is formed, an error in output detection can be suppressed, and an increase in manufacturing cost can be avoided.
[0102]
Further, in the light source device for irradiating the light source device of the present invention with an optical path of the light emitted from the light source by a branch element fixed above the light source and irradiating the optical recording medium, output detection for detecting the output of the emitted light is performed. It can be described that the output detection element is provided on any light transmitting surface located on the optical path between the light source and the branch element (including the branch element). . In this configuration, since the output detection element is formed on the existing light transmitting surface, an increase in manufacturing cost can be suppressed.
[0103]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the light source device (the present light source device) of the present invention is a light source device that irradiates the light emitted from the light source to the optical recording medium via the emitted light branching element, for monitoring the output of the emitted light. A light receiving element is provided, and the monitoring light receiving element is formed on a transparent base material for fixing the position of the emission light branching element with respect to the light source.
The light source device includes a monitoring light receiving element for detecting the amount of light (output) of the emitted light. In particular, in the present light source device, the monitor light receiving element is formed on a transparent base material for fixing the position of the emission light splitting element with respect to the light source.
[0104]
That is, in the present light source device, since the monitoring light receiving element is formed on the existing transparent base material, a dedicated substrate for providing the monitoring light receiving element is not required. Therefore, the present light source device is a light source device which is inexpensive in manufacturing cost and can be easily reduced in size.
[0105]
Further, in the present light source device, since the monitoring light receiving element is formed on the transparent base material fixed to the light source, the monitoring light receiving element is also fixed to the light source (that is, the light source (optical path) and the monitoring light receiving element). The light receiving element is integrally formed).
Therefore, even if a change in the environment occurs, the influence on the positional relationship between the light source (optical path) and the monitoring light receiving element can be reduced, and the error in output detection can be reduced.
[0106]
In addition, by providing the light source device in an optical disk device (a device that performs recording and / or reproduction on an optical disk (optical recording medium)), an optical disk device that is low in manufacturing cost, small in size, and has high light intensity detection accuracy can be realized.
[0107]
The above-mentioned outgoing light branching element is usually provided on a transparent substrate fixed to the light source. In the light source device, a monitor light receiving element may be provided on such a transparent substrate. With this configuration, the emission light branching element and the monitoring light receiving element can be formed on one substrate by a series of processes. Therefore, it is possible to further reduce the manufacturing cost.
[0108]
In this configuration, it is preferable that the light receiving element for monitoring is formed around the outgoing light branch element on the transparent substrate. With this configuration, of the light emitted from the light source toward the transparent substrate, the light that does not enter the emission light branching element, that is, the light that has deviated from the branching element, can be made to enter the monitoring light receiving element.
[0109]
Therefore, in this configuration, the amount of light is detected using light that escapes without passing through the output light branching element (light that does not reach the optical recording medium; dissipated light). Therefore, the light amount can be detected without reducing the light use efficiency.
Further, by disposing the monitoring light receiving element adjacent to the branching element so as to surround the output light branching element, more dissipated light can be used for light amount detection.
[0110]
Further, the light source device may include a reflected light receiving element for receiving the reflected light from the optical recording medium, and a reflected light branching element for guiding the reflected light from the optical recording medium to the reflected light receiving element. According to this structure, the light source device can be used as an optical pickup.
[0111]
Further, in this configuration, the outgoing light branching element is formed on the light source side surface (back surface) of the transparent substrate, and the reflected light branching element is formed on the front surface of the transparent substrate (the surface opposite to the back surface). You may make it. With this configuration, the size of the substrate can be reduced because the branch element is formed using both surfaces of the substrate. Therefore, the present light source device can be downsized.
[0112]
Also in this case, as described above, a monitoring light receiving element may be provided around the outgoing light branch element on the back surface of the transparent substrate.
Further, at this time, it is preferable to provide an empty area on the back surface of the substrate where the emitted light receiving element and the monitoring light receiving element are not provided. This makes it possible to guide the reflected light incident on the reflected light branching element on the front surface of the substrate to the reflected light receiving element without being blocked by the back surface of the substrate.
[0113]
[0114]
Further, the outgoing light branch element, the reflected light branch element, and the monitoring light receiving element may be formed on the same surface of the transparent substrate.
In this configuration, since the above three elements are formed on one surface of the substrate, it is not necessary to turn the substrate over in the manufacturing process. Therefore, manufacturing costs can be reduced.
Further, in this configuration, the reflected light receiving element may be provided on the back surface of the transparent substrate.
[0115]
The light source device preferably includes a cap (support) that covers the light source. Thereby, the light source can be protected from external force and contamination.
Further, such a cap preferably includes a transparent member, for example, a window glass, on the optical path so as not to block the optical path between the light source and the output light branching element.
[0116]
When a window glass is provided, the transparent substrate may be fixed on the window glass. Further, in this configuration, it is preferable that the monitor light receiving element is electrically connected to an output terminal formed on the cap by a conductive wire.
Thus, an output signal (electric signal) from the monitoring light receiving element can be easily output to an external circuit for performing signal processing.
[0117]
Further, the monitoring light receiving element may be provided on the window glass of the cap. In this case, it is preferable that the monitor light receiving element is formed on the window glass so as to surround the optical path between the light source and the emitted light light receiving element.
[0118]
Further, in the present light source device, it is preferable that the monitor light receiving element is formed of a silicon thin film.
This makes it possible to easily form the monitoring light receiving element by vapor deposition or the like, and to avoid an increase in the size of the apparatus due to the addition of the monitoring light receiving element.
