Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program, and more particularly, to an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program that can always output density stably.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Since a medical laser imager expresses a diagnostic image in gray scale, there is a strong demand for a basic function of always outputting density stably.
[0003]
For this reason, a so-called calibration function for controlling an image forming portion so that a digital / video signal (designated density signal) sent from each modality has a constant density on the film is provided.
[0004]
However, a fixed density is obtained immediately after performing the calibration, but the density fluctuates due to various factors with the lapse of time after the calibration. In particular, it is known that the heat development process tends to fluctuate.
For example: (1) Exposure system fluctuation due to environmental temperature (attributable to the equipment)
(2) Changes in thermal development characteristics due to film processing (device-related)
(3) Variation in sensitivity characteristics of film stored in the machine (caused by film)
4) Films with different thermal development characteristics (from film)
Conventionally, based on these fluctuations of (1) to (4), the finished density affected by the overall of (1) to (4) is measured, and based on this measurement result, the subsequent print is corrected. A laser recording device is known (see Patent Document 1).
[0005]
In this method, a rectangular area of about 5 × 10 mm is exposed to a predetermined portion of a film with a predetermined light amount, the finished density of this area is measured, and the difference from the density that can be obtained originally (hereinafter referred to as a comparative density) is obtained. Based on the above, the exposure amount and / or the heat release condition are varied in order to optimize the density of the subsequent print.
[0006]
However, this method is not preferable because even if there is a fluctuation or a measurement error in the patch density measurement, a correction is applied for each print. In particular, in the heat development method, the leading edge or the trailing edge of the film on which the patch is provided is liable to cause a density variation due to the attitude of the film in the process of reaching the cooling section after heating (the diagnostic image area at the center of the film is stable). Nevertheless, only the patch density tends to fluctuate), and when correction is performed on the basis of this, the density of the diagnostic image portion may be adversely changed.
[0007]
Further, the heat development process generally prohibits the processing until the heating drum and its peripheral members reach a predetermined temperature. However, the development characteristics change immediately after the ready state and after performing a plurality of prints. Since the temperature of the cooling / conveying unit rises with the processing, the concentration is almost increased.
[0008]
In order to prevent this, an image recording apparatus that detects the temperature of the cooling / conveying unit and corrects the temperature of the exposure unit is known. Even if the patch density measurement has a fluctuation or a measurement error, the influence can be offset ( Patent Document 2).
[0009]
However, even in the apparatus described in

Such a function is realized by being controlled by a software program (program) stored in a predetermined storage device such as a flash ROM (not shown) in the image processing apparatus. The image processing apparatus according to the present invention includes a microcomputer (computer) including a CPU (not shown) therein, and the following functions are executed by processing the program by the computer.

[0047]
Next, it is determined whether or not there is diagnostic image data to be processed (S16). If there is another diagnostic image data, the process returns to S10, and if there is no diagnostic image data, the power is turned off (S17).
[0048]
When the power is turned off in S17, it is determined whether or not the operation has stopped for a predetermined period of time (S18). If it is determined that the operation has stopped for a predetermined time, the film characteristic change of the film characteristic change based on the patch density measurement result is first. It is calculated and held by the estimating means 550 (S19). The calculation of the film characteristic change is performed by using the density value designated by the LUT as a comparison density value, comparing the density value with the average value of the intra-day patch density measurement data, and multiplying the difference by an appropriate coefficient (gain). To determine. In this way, the first estimating means 550 calculates and holds the film property change every time the apparatus is stopped for a predetermined period.
[0049]
As described above, according to the present invention, the patch created at each printing stores the density measurement result, estimates the characteristic variation (deterioration over time) of the film based on the patch data for one day, and cancels it. And the correction value is applied to all prints on the next day. Therefore, characteristics that fluctuate over a relatively long period, such as film aging, can be estimated based on a sufficient number of data, so that the accuracy of determination can be improved and a more stable density can be achieved. In particular, in a facility using a relatively small amount of film for one to two weeks with one film loading (usually containing 100 to 150 sheets), it is possible to gradually and surely correct daily density fluctuations and use the film. Diagnostic performance can be maintained.
[0050]
Note that the above is repeated until the film becomes empty. However, when the film is loaded in the middle of a day, the calibration is performed and the correction amount for the deterioration with time of the film is cleared to zero. This is because the calibration is performed using the newly loaded film, and the influence of the change in the characteristics of the newly loaded film is already reflected. Patch data accompanying subsequent printing continuation is collected and stored, calculated at the end of printing on the day (or prior to the start of printing on the next day), to estimate the amount of aging of the film, and to obtain a correction value to offset this, Apply to all prints on the next day (the day). By repeating the same operation on and after the next day, it is possible to accurately correct the deterioration with time of the film.
[0051]
Generally, the power supply of the apparatus is stopped at night and the power is turned on at the start of the next day in many cases. However, when the power is turned off, it is relatively unlikely to change, so either after acquiring the final diagnostic image of the previous day or waiting for image processing to start at the start of operation, the film temporal deterioration FB (feedback) based on the stored patch data. What is necessary is just to calculate the correction amount.
[0052]
If the power supply stop time is equal to or shorter than a predetermined value, the FB correction calculation with the deterioration with time of the film is not performed.
[0053]
When the film is loaded many times a day, the patch data is cleared to zero together with the calibration every time the film is loaded, and only the patch data after the last loaded package is used for the correction of the next day. Since a film used for a short period of time is unlikely to deteriorate with time, patch data need not be stored, and control may be performed only by controlling image forming conditions on the apparatus side.
[0054]
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program that can obtain a stable density even when an image is formed using a photothermographic film that deteriorates with time.

Second Embodiment An image processing apparatus for performing the image processing method of the present embodiment divides a period after film loading into two, and performs different corrections (
