本発明は、デジタルスチルカメラまたはビデオカメラに代表される撮像装置に関し、バックライト方式の液晶パネルを被写体側に向け前記液晶パネルを全白にし液晶パネルからの光をビデオライトとして使用することを特徴としたデジタルスチルカメラまたはビデオカメラに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来から各種カメラにおいては、被写体に対する照明光源として内臓ライト、カメラ本体に対して着脱可能に構成される外付けライト外部照明等が一般的に用いられている。また、液晶パネルを全白にしてその光を被写体に向けることでビデオライトとしている(例えば特許文献1参照)。以下、従来の液晶パネルを使用したビデオライトについて図5及び図6を用いて説明する。

図5は従来の撮像装置の一例としてビデオカメラの外観を示す斜視図、図6は同内部構成を示すブロック図である。

図5及び図6において、ビデオカメラ110は、カメラ本体112の前部にレンズ114、後部にカラービューファインダ116を有し、側部には液晶モニター118が設けられている。この液晶モニター118は、ヒンジ部120によりカメラ本体112に回転自在に取り付けられており、対面撮影のときは、図5のように被写体に向け、写されている人がどのように撮影されているかを見ながら撮影できるようになっている。液晶モニター118は、フレーム122に取り付けられた液晶パネル124と、この液晶パネル124の後部に配置されているバックライト126(図6参照)とを備えており、これにより、液晶パネル124は発光形の表示となっている。

液晶パネル124は、一般に全白(透過率が最大の状態)にすると、液晶パネル124から出てくる光量が最大となり、あたかもビデオライトを照射しているときと同じ状態となる。この現象を積極的に利用することにより、液晶モニター118をビデオライトとして機能させるものである。図6に液晶モニター118の制御回路を示しており、101はLCDドライブ回路、102は制御マイコン、103は撮影モード検出回路、104は切替スイッチ、105は電源回路、106は発振回路、107はインバータトランスを示している。上記回路構成は周知のものであり、本構成は切替スイッチ104により液晶モニター118を全白に切替えてビデオライトとして利用する点に特徴がある。

すなわち、切替スイッチ104をオンすることにより、撮影モード検出回路103から制御マイコン102を通じて液晶ドライブ回路101に信号が入力され、液晶パネル124を全白にする。これにより、液晶パネル124からの光量が最大となって被写体を照射し、ビデオライトの機能をはたすことになる。必要に応じて、全白にしたときの液晶パネル124の光量をより増大させるため、バックライト126の照度を上げるようにすることも可能である。すなわち、切替スイッチ104のオンで制御マイコン102から電源回路105に制御信号が入力され、この電源回路105の電圧をアップすることにより、バックライト126の照度を上げることがきる。なお、バックライト126は、直下形蛍光管あるいは導光板付き蛍光管等、種々の方式のものがあり、どの方式のものでも実施可能である。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら上記従来の構成では、液晶パネルを全白(ビデオライト)にして、液晶パネルを被写体方向に回動させて被写体を撮影した後、撮影映像を確認するために液晶パネルを再び撮影者側に回動させると、液晶パネルは全白状態のままであり、再生映像が表示される状態に戻すには、使用者が切替スイッチ104を操作しなければならず、操作性を低下させていた。

本発明は上記問題点に鑑み、バックライト方式の液晶パネルが被写体側に向いているかを検出し、被写体側に向いているときのみ前記液晶パネルを全白にし液晶パネルからの光をビデオライトとして使用し、液晶パネルが撮影者側に向いている場合は通常の映像を液晶パネルに映す撮像装置を提供することを目的とする。

【問題を解決するための手段】
この問題を解決するために本発明の撮像装置は、バックライト方式の表示手段が本体に搭載され、前記表示手段を被写体側に向けることが可能な撮像装置であって、前記表示手段が被写体側に向いたことを検出し、前記表示手段が被写体に向いた時のみ前記表示手段を全白表示にし、前記表示手段が全白表示の状態で前記表示手段を撮影者側に向けると映像表示に切り替えることを特徴とするものであり、バックライト方式の液晶パネルが被写体側に向いているかを検出し、被写体側に向いているときのみ前記液晶パネルを全白にし液晶パネルからの光をビデオライトとして使用し、液晶パネルが撮影者側に向いている場合は通常の映像を液晶パネルに映すことを特徴としたものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の請求項1〜3に記載の発明は、バックライト方式の表示手段が本体に搭載され、前記表示手段を被写体側に向けることが可能な撮像装置であって、前記表示手段が被写体側に向いたことを検出し、前記表示手段が被写体に向いた時のみ前記表示手段を全白表示にし、前記表示手段が全白表示の状態で前記表示手段を撮影者側に向けると映像表示に切り替えるものであり、これにより、バックライト方式の液晶パネルが本体に搭載され、液晶パネルが被写体に向く構成をしたデジタルスチルカメラまたはビデオカメラであって、液晶パネルが被写体に向いたことを検出し液晶パネルが被写体に向いたきのみ自動で前記液晶パネルを全白にし液晶パネルからの光をビデオライトとして使用することを特徴としたものである。

図1は本発明の実施の形態における撮像装置の一例であるビデオカメラの構成を示す斜視図、図2は同実施の形態の内部構成を示すブロック図、図3は同実施の形態の動作を示すフローチャート、図4は表示例を示す模式図である。

図において、6はレンズ9やCCD(図示せず)などの撮像手段を内蔵し映像音声信号の記録再生が可能な機器本体であるビデオカメラ本体で、本実施の形態ではビデオカメラとしたが映像信号の記録再生が可能なものであればデジタルスチルカメラなどであってもよい。4はビデオカメラ本体6に対して回動自在に設けられ再生映像や撮像映像を表示可能な表示手段である液晶パネルで、バックライト方式の液晶パネルを用いた。5は液晶パネル4をビデオカメラ本体6に対して回動自在に保持するヒンジ部で、液晶パネル4を矢印A方向に開閉自在であるとともに、矢印B方向に回動自在となっている。1はヒンジ部5に設けられた磁石、2は液晶パネル4に設けられたホールセンサーで、磁石1との距離に応じてH信号かL信号を出力する。本実施の形態では液晶パネル4が被写体側、つまりレンズ9と同方向を向いた時にH信号を出力するようにしている。本実施の形態では、磁石1とホールセンサー2とで検出手段を構成している。3はビデオカメラ本体6に設けられた選択手段であるライトON/OFFスイッチで、ON状態にすることで、液晶パネル4を全白待機状態にすることができる。7はライトON/OFFスイッチ3のON/OFF情報とホールセンサー2から磁石1を介して入力されるH/L情報とによりLCDドライブ回路8を制御する制御マイコン、8は制御マイコン7からの制御により別途入力される映像信号か全白信号のいずれかを液晶パネル4に表示させるよう制御するLCDドライブ回路であり、制御マイコン7とLCDドライブ回路8とで制御手段を構成している。

以上のように構成された本実施の形態の撮像装置について、以下その動作について説明する。

まず、図1においてビデオカメラ本体6は、レンズ1を介して入射される被写体の光信号を、内蔵されたCCDにより電気信号に変換して映像信号を得る。映像信号は信号処理回路で各種信号処理が施され、液晶パネル4に表示される。一方で録画ボタンを押すことで、内部に装填されたビデオテープなどの記録媒体に映像信号及び音声信号を記録される。

ビデオカメラ本体6には撮影中の映像や再生した映像を表示するための液晶パネル4が設けられており、この液晶パネル4はヒンジ部5によって、矢印A方向に開閉自在及び矢印B方向に回動自在に配されている。液晶パネル4は、撮影者側とに向いた通常撮影状態と、被写体側つまりレンズ9と同方向を向いた対面撮影状態とに回動自在となっている。液晶パネル4をビデオライトとして使用していない状態では、通常撮影状態でも対面撮影状態でも、映像信号が表示されている。

次に、液晶パネル4をビデオライトとして使用する際の動作について、図3も交えて説明する。

まず、ビデオカメラ本体6の電源を投入すると、ビデオカメラ本体6が撮影モードであればレンズ9から入射して光電変換された映像信号が液晶パネル4に表示される。そして液晶パネル4を撮影者側に向けた状態で、ライトON/OFFスイッチ3をONにすると(ステップ301)、そのON信号が制御マイコン7に入力され、制御マイコン7はLCDドライブ回路8を制御して、液晶パネル4に図4に示すような警告表示(ステップ302)を行うよう制御を行い、全白待機状態になる。この警告表示は、液晶パネル4に表示されている映像信号にOSD表示(オンスクリーンディスプレイ表示)によって重畳表示されるものであり、まだ全白表示にはなっていない。

使用者は図4に示す表示に従い、液晶パネル4を矢印Bのように回動させ、被写体側つまりレンズ9と同方向を向くようにする。液晶パネル4がレンズ9と完全に同方向を向いた状態では、磁石1とホールセンサー2との距離が最短となり、この状態でホールセンサー2から磁石1を介して液晶パネルが被写体側に向いたことを示すH信号が出力される(ステップ304)。磁石1とホールセンサー2の距離が遠い場合、液晶パネルが撮影者側に向いていることを示すL信号がホールセンサー2から出力される。

ホールセンサー2から磁石1を介して出力されたH信号は制御マイコン7に入力される。ライトON/OFFスイッチ3がONでホールセンサー2の出力がH信号、すなわち液晶パネル4が被写側を向いているとき、それぞれの出力が制御マイコン7に送られて、制御マイコン7からLCDドライブ回路8に液晶パネル4を全白にするよう制御信号が送られる(ステップ305)。LCDドライブ回路8は制御マイコン7からの制御により、LCDパネル4に対して映像信号を出力するのを中止し、かわりに、LCDパネル4が全白表示になるような信号を送る。このことにより、被写体側を向いたLCDパネル4をビデオライトとして使用することができる。

次に、液晶パネル4をビデオライトして使用するのを中止する場合は、液晶パネル4が撮影者側を向くように回動させる。液晶パネル4を被写体側に向けると、ホールセンサー2の出力がL信号となり(ステップ304)、制御マイコン7はLCDドライブ回路8を制御して、ライトON/OFFスイッチ3がON/OFFの位置に関係なく通常の映像を出力するよう制御する(ステップ301)。つまり、液晶モニタ4をビデオライトとして使用している時に液晶パネル4を撮影者側に向けると、強制的に全白表示を解除し、通常の映像信号が表示されるように制御する。

また、ライトON/OFFスイッチ3がOFFの場合は、液晶パネル4の回動位置つまりホールセンサー2の出力に関係なく、液晶パネル4には映像信号が出力されるよう制御する。

以上のように本実施の形態によれば、ライトON/OFFスイッチ3をONにし、液晶パネル4を被写体側に向けることで、液晶パネル4を全白表示にしあたかもビデオライトとして使用しているように機能させることができるものである。さらに、本実施の形態では、ビデオライト状態から映像表示状態へ戻すには、液晶パネル4が撮影者側を向くように回動させるだけでよく、使い勝手を向上させることができる。

なお、本実施の形態では磁石1とホールセンサー2を用いて液晶パネル4の回転位置を検出したが、メカニカルなスイッチを使用しても構わない。またビデオカメラ本体6の形状も一例であり、液晶パネルが被写体側に向くものであれば制約は受けない。

【発明の効果】
以上のように本発明は、液晶パネルをライトとして使用する場合、液晶パネルが被写体を向いたときのみ自動でライトとして動作し、液晶パネルが撮影者側を向いたときは映像を映すことでスイッチ等で煩雑な切り替えをすることなく撮影でき、使い勝手を向上させることができるという優れた効果を奏するものであります。
