本発明は、機器のケース内に配置された部品と外部の部品や電源等との間を接続するために用いられるグロメット付きワイヤハーネスに関するものである。

機器のケース内の部品と外部の部品等との間をワイヤハーネスにより接続する場合には、ケース内に水が侵入したり、ケース内に収容された油などの液体が漏出したりするのを防ぐために、機器のケースの外壁部に設けたハーネス導出孔にグロメットを取り付けて、このグロメットを通してワイヤハーネスを外部に引き出すようにしている。

ところが、ワイヤハーネス4を構成する電線3は、図3(B)及び(C)に示すように、細線からなる多数の芯線3aを絶縁被覆3bにより被覆した構造を有していて、芯線3a相互間には微少な隙間g1 が存在し、芯線3aの束と絶縁被覆3bとの間にも僅かな隙間g2 が存在する。そのため、電線3の端部で芯線に液が接触すると、隙間g1 及びg2 を通して毛細管現象により液が漏出することがある。特に、ケース1内外の温度変化により、ケース内外の圧力に差が生じた場合には、毛細管現象による漏液が生じやすい。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
特許文献2に示されたように、ワイヤハーネスを構成する電線群のグロメットに挿通される部分の絶縁被覆にシール剤を塗布すれば、グロメットと電線群との間の隙間や電線相互間の隙間を通して液が漏れるのを防ぐことができるが、電線の内部の芯線相互間の隙間や、芯線と絶縁被覆との間の隙間を通して毛細管現象により液が漏れるのを防ぐことはできない。
