この発明は、DVD(Digital Versatile Disk)−R(Recordable)/RW(ReWritable)等の光ディスクのドライブに係り、特にウォブル生成系におけるウォブル(Wobble:蛇行)信号に含まれるLPP(Land PrePit)信号を除去してウォブル信号の品位を高める光ディスクドライブ装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来の光ディスクドライブ装置におけるウォブル信号生成方法は、光ディスクにレーザ光を照射し、光ディスクより反射された光をフォトダイオードA〜Dで検出し、これらフォトダイオードA〜DからA+DとB+Cを演算生成し、それぞれピークホールド、ボトムホールドした信号からウォブルを生成している。(例えば、特許文献1)

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記した特許文献1の技術は、ウォブル信号にLPP信号が重畳された状態になっており、このLPP信号のウォブル信号に与える影響を除去することができない。DVD−R/RWの記録動作を行う光ディスクドライブにおいては、光ディスク基板にプリフォーマットされているグルーブウォブル信号やLPPアドレス信号を再生する必要がある。通常、グルーブウォブル信号やLPPアドレス信号は、混在した形で、1系統の光ディスクからの反射差信号を検出することで、行われ、ウォブル再生系とLPP再生系に並列に入射される。

しかしながら、ウォブル再生系にとっては、LPP信号は記録同期を不安定にする不要なものであるにも拘わらず、LPP信号がウォブル信号に重畳された状態にあり、ウォブル信号の品位に悪影響を及ぼす、という問題があった。

この発明の目的は、ウォブル再生系には、邪魔なLPP信号成分を除去した後の反射差信号を入力してウォブル品位を高めたウォブル信号生成装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記した課題を解決するために、この発明の光ディスクドライブ装置は、絶対時間情報に基づきウォブルさせたトラッキングを有する光ディスクと、前記光ディスクに光ビームを照射する光ビーム照射手段と、前記光ディスクからの反射光を受光するため、前記光ディスクの半径方向に分割された少なくとも2つの受光面を持つ光検出手段と、前記2つの受光面によりそれぞれ検出される第1および第2の出力信号に基づき、前記トラックのウォブルに対応するウォブル信号を生成するウォブル信号生成部と、を具備し、前記ウォブル信号生成部は、前記第1および第2の出力信号の差演算を行って反射差信号を抽出し、該反射差信号に含まれる前記光ディスクの書き込み位置を示すLPP信号に同期したゲートにより、前記反射差信号をサンプルホールドすることによりウォブル信号を生成したことを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、この発明の実施の形態について、図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。
図1は、この発明の一実施の形態について説明するためのシステム構成図である。光ディスク11は、DVD−R/RW等の追記対応型であって、絶対時間情報に基づいてウォブルさせたトラックが形成されており、スピンドルモータ12により例えば線速度一定で回転駆動される。光ディスク11の記録面と対応する位置には光ビーム照射手段131および光検出手段132からなる光ピックアップ13が配置されている。光ピックアップ13は、送りモータ14により、光ディスク11の半径方向に駆動制御される。スピンドルモータ12、送りモータ14の送り制御および光ピックアップ13のフォーカス制御は、サーボ制御部15により行われる。

光ディスク11からの反射光信号は、図では省略してある復調回路に送られ記録情報の復調か行われるとともに、ウォブル信号生成部16によりウォブル信号が生成され、またフォーカスエラー信号生成部17、トラッキングエラー信号生成部18によりそれぞれフォーカスエラー信号FE、トラッキングエラー信号TEが生成される。

フォーカスエラー信号FEは、図示しないフォーカシング制御回路に供給してフォーカスアクチュエータ用駆動電圧FCを生成する。このフォーカスアクチュエータ駆動電圧FCをフォーカシング駆動コイルに供給することにより、レーザ光が光ディスク11の記録膜上に常時ジャストフォーカスとなるような制御が行われる。

また、トラッキングエラー信号TEは、図示しないトラッキング制御回路に供給してトラッキングエラー信号に応じたトラック駆動信号TOを生成する。このトラック駆動信号TOをトラッキング方向の駆動コイルに供給し、トラッキング制御を行う。

ウォブル信号生成部16は、演算アンプ161、LPPスライス回路162、LPPマスク回路163、帯域通過フィルタ(BPF)回路164で構成する。ウォブル信号生成部16に供給される光ディスク11からの反射光信号は、光検出手段132で検出し、演算アンプ161で差演算を行い、ウォブル信号およびLPP信号を含む反射差信号として抽出する。

上側コンパレータ31では、図4(a)に示すようにLPP信号の上側振幅L1をスライスし、これに同期したゲートを発生させ、下側コンパレータ32では、LPP信号の下側振幅L2をスライスする。LPP信号に基づいて生成されたゲート信号を発生させ、OR回路33で論理和を取ることにより、図4(b)に示すマスク用ゲート信号Gmを得る。下側コンパレータ32より出力されるLPP信号は、コントローラ19へ送られ、コントローラ19で、LPP信号のデコードを行う。

一方、LPPマスク回路163に送られた反射差信号(A+D)−(B+C)は、マスク用ゲート信号Gmのタイミングで反射差信号をサンプル/ホールドすることで、上および下側振幅L1,L2のLPP信号を除去することができる。LPP信号が除去された信号波形の状態を図4(c)に示す。LPPマスク回路163の出力は、帯域通過フィルタ回路164へ送り、波形整形が行われた図4(d)に示すウォブル信号を得る。このウォブル信号は、コントローラ19へと送られてウォブル信号のデコードを行う。

上記したように、この実施の形態によれば、ウォブル生成系において、LPP信号をマスクすることにより、帯域通過フィルタ回路を用いて波形整形した後の信号からLPP信号を除去することができることから、ウォブル信号の品位を高めることができことから、確実な記録同期による安定した映像の実現が可能となる。

以上説明したように、この発明の光ディスクドライブ装置によれば、光ディスクからの反射光信号に基づきウォブル生成する場合に、LPP信号をマスクすることによりLPP信号をウォブル信号から除去し、ウォブル信号の品位を高めることが可能となる。
