Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fuel cell with a dehumidifying / humidifying device including a fuel gas dehumidifying / humidifying device for dehumidifying / humidifying a fuel gas supplied to a fuel cell.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A fuel cell mounted on a fuel cell vehicle or the like includes an anode and a cathode on both sides of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, supplies a fuel gas (eg, hydrogen gas) to the anode, and supplies an oxidizing gas (eg, oxygen or oxygen) to the cathode. In some cases, air (air) is supplied to directly extract chemical energy involved in the oxidation-reduction reaction of these gases as electric energy.
[0003]
In this fuel cell, the fuel gas is ionized at the anode electrode and moves through the solid polymer electrolyte, and electrons move to the cathode electrode through an external load, reacting with oxygen to produce water, a series of electrochemical processes. Electric energy from the reaction can be extracted. As described above, since the power generation in the fuel cell involves the generation of water, the oxidant gas (ie, the oxidant off-gas) discharged from the fuel cell contains moisture. In addition, the fuel gas discharged from the fuel cell (that is, the fuel off-gas) also contains moisture due to the permeation of the generated water through the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. In addition, in this type of fuel cell, generally, unreacted fuel gas is contained in the fuel gas discharged from the fuel cell after being subjected to power generation, that is, the fuel off gas. Is recycled, mixed with fresh fuel gas, and supplied to the fuel cell again.
[0004]
By the way, in this fuel cell, if the solid polymer electrolyte membrane is dried, the ionic conductivity is reduced, and the power generation output is reduced. It is necessary to supply water.
On the other hand, if the supply of moisture to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane becomes excessive, water vapor condenses in the gas flow path inside the fuel cell and closes (floods) the gas flow path, obstructing the gas supply and preventing power generation. In some cases, the power generation output (cell voltage) decreases, and in this case, it is necessary to dehumidify the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas.
[0005]
For this reason, some fuel cells of this type are provided with a dehumidifying / humidifying device for dehumidifying / humidifying a fuel gas or an oxidizing gas supplied to the fuel cell. For example,
[0006]
[Patent Document 1]
US Pat. No. 6,106,964 (FIG. 3)
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the prior art, since the dehumidifying / humidifying device is provided on the upper surface of the fuel cell, when the off-gas used for power generation is supplied to the dehumidifying / humidifying device as a dehumidifying gas, the dehumidifying / humidifying device is removed against the gravity. Since the humidifying gas is moved upward, the moisture in the dehumidifying gas may stay in the flow path from the outlet side of the fuel cell to the supply port of the dehumidifying device, thereby blocking the flow path. There was a problem.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and has as its object to provide a fuel cell with a dehumidifying / humidifying device capable of efficiently dehumidifying and dehumidifying a fuel gas and an oxidizing gas.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the invention according to
[0010]
According to the present invention, since the fuel gas dehumidifying and humidifying device is unitized in a state arranged below the cell, off-gas (fuel off-gas, oxidant off-gas) discharged from the cell is removed from the fuel gas. Even when used as a humidifying gas, the dehumidifying gas can be supplied from the cell to the fuel gas dehumidifying device without opposing gravity. For this reason, the dehumidifying gas is supplied to the fuel gas dehumidifying device in a state in which the moisture in the gas is retained, so that the fuel gas can be efficiently dehumidified and removed from the fuel cell. It is possible to prevent water from staying in the space before the humidifier.
[0011]
Further, the invention according to
According to the present invention, even when the off-gas (fuel off-gas, oxidant off-gas) discharged from the cell is used as the humidifying gas for the oxidizing gas, the off-gas is supplied to the fuel gas dehumidifying and humidifying device. In addition, since the moisture therein is supplied to the oxidizing gas humidifier in a state of being retained, it is possible to efficiently humidify the oxidizing gas, and between the fuel cell and the dehumidifying device. Water can be prevented from staying.
[0012]
