The present invention relates to a color conversion table creation device, a color conversion table creation method, a color conversion table creation program, a print control device, a print control method, and a print control program, and in particular, specifies an ink amount of each ink used in a printing device. Conversion table creation device, a color conversion table creation method, a color conversion table creation program, a color conversion table creation program, and print control for creating a color conversion table that defines the correspondence between the ink value to be performed and the color component value of each color used in another image device The present invention relates to an apparatus, a print control method, and a print control program.
[0002]
[Background Art]
This type of print control apparatus prints a colorimetric patch based on an ink value that specifies the amount of the color ink, performs a colorimetric operation on the colorimetric patch, and uses a color conversion table based on the colorimetric result. [0003]
[Patent Document 1]
Japanese Patent Application No. 2002-11288
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described color conversion table creating apparatus, the image quality improving ink is not reflected on the colorimetric patch to be subjected to the colorimetric work when creating the color conversion table. Although the image quality improving ink is basically substantially transparent, some inks are slightly colored. The color-improved ink is specified in the color conversion table based on the colorimetric results of the colorimetric patches created based on the ink values of the colored inks without adding the color-improved image quality improving ink to the colorimetry. Thereafter, when printing is performed using a color conversion table in which the ink values of the image quality improving ink are specified based on the specification of the ink values of the color ink, the color tone and color shift of the image quality improving ink occur. There was a problem that would be.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and has a color conversion table creating apparatus, a color conversion table creating method, and a color conversion method that can create a high-precision color conversion table that reflects the color characteristics of image quality improving ink. It is an object to provide a conversion table creation program, a print control device, a print control method, and a print control program.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems and Functions / Effects]
In order to achieve the above object, the color conversion table creating apparatus includes an ink value for specifying the amount of the color ink used in the printing apparatus and the ink amount of the image quality improving ink for improving the image quality, and an ink value for each color used in another image device. When creating a color conversion table that defines the correspondence with the color component values, the colorimetric patch printing means measures the color based on the ink values that specify the ink amounts of the color inks and the image quality improving ink for improving the image quality. The printing device prints the target colorimetric patch. Here, the colorimetric patches acquired by the printing apparatus are measured by the colorimetric data acquisition means, and colorimetric data is acquired for each of the colorimetric patches. Then, the color conversion table generating means performs the color conversion defining the correspondence between the ink values of the color ink and the image quality improving ink and the color component values of each color used in another image device based on the acquired colorimetric data. Create a table. As described above, when printing a colorimetric patch, printing is performed based on the ink value obtained by adding the image quality improving ink to the color ink. Therefore, it is possible to reflect the characteristics of the image improvement ink on the colorimetric data, and it is possible to create a highly accurate color conversion table.
[0007]
As an example of the correspondence between the color ink and the image quality improving ink when printing the color measurement patch by the color measurement patch printing means, the color measurement patch printing means corresponds to the ink amount of the color ink and the ink amount of the same color ink. The colorimetric patch to be measured is printed based on the ink value specified by the ink amount of the image quality improving ink defined as follows. By associating the image quality improving ink with the color ink, the ink value of the image quality improving ink can be reflected on the color conversion table with higher accuracy. If the definition of the ink amount of the image quality improving ink corresponding to the ink amount of the color ink described above can be changed according to the type of the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is printed, the colorimetric patch suitable for the type of the print medium is printed. It becomes possible. Therefore, the colorimetric patch printing unit changes the correspondence between the ink amount of the color ink and the ink amount of the image quality improving ink according to the type of the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is printed. As a result, the accuracy of the colorimetric patch can be improved, and the accuracy of the created color conversion table can be further improved.
[0008]
Here, as an example of a method for defining the ink amount of the image quality improving ink corresponding to the ink amount of the color ink according to the type of the print medium, the colorimetric patch printing unit uses the type of the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is printed. Is a relatively strong glossy print medium, the ink amount of the image quality improving ink when the ink amount of the color ink is relatively large is changed to the image quality improving ink when the ink amount of the color ink is relatively small. Less than the amount. As a result, the gloss of the area with a small amount of colored ink and the gloss of the area with a large amount of colored ink are uniform, and the image quality of the colorimetric patch can be improved. Further, it is possible to obtain colorimetric data in the colorimetric patch when the image quality improving ink is slightly colored. Therefore, it is possible to improve the accuracy of the color conversion table used when the type of print medium used in actual printing is relatively glossy.
[0009]
As an example of another method of defining the ink amount of the image quality improving ink corresponding to the ink amount of the color ink according to the type of the print medium, the colorimetric patch printing unit uses a type of the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is printed. When the printing medium has relatively low gloss, the ink amount of the image quality improving ink when the ink amount of the color ink is relatively large is changed to the ink amount of the image improving ink when the ink amount of the color ink is relatively small. Equal or more than As a result, colorimetric data reflecting the image quality improving ink can be obtained from the colorimetric patch. Therefore, it is possible to improve the accuracy of the color conversion table used when the type of print medium used in actual printing is relatively weak in gloss.
[0010]
The type of the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is to be printed is determined, and the ink amount of the image quality improving ink defined corresponding to the ink amount of the color ink may be changed according to this type, or the user's preference may be appropriately determined. Thus, the specified value of the ink amount of the image quality improving ink corresponding to the ink amount of the colored ink may be selected. Therefore, a plurality of corresponding patterns of the ink amount of the image quality improving ink defined in advance corresponding to the ink amount of the color ink are stored in the corresponding pattern storage unit of the colorimetric patch printing unit. Then, the user is allowed to select a predetermined corresponding pattern from the stored corresponding patterns, and an ink value specified by the ink amount of the color ink and the ink amount of the image quality improving ink defined by the selected corresponding pattern. The colorimetric patch may be printed based on the. This makes it possible to print a colorimetric patch based on the amounts of the colored ink and the image quality improving ink according to the user's preference. Therefore, it is possible to create a color conversion table according to the user's preference.
[0011]
By allowing the user to select a predetermined correspondence pattern as described above, it is possible to create a color conversion table according to the user's preference. On the other hand, it is preferable that the user's preference can be reflected in the color conversion table to be created. Therefore, the colorimetric patch printing means is provided with a pattern shape correcting means capable of changing the pattern shape of the corresponding pattern. The user can change the corresponding pattern according to his / her preference using the pattern shape correction means, and can create a color conversion table that reflects the user's preference. Some of them differ depending on the specifications of the image quality improving ink. For example, some image quality improving inks have good color developing properties, and some image quality improving inks have low color developing properties. Further, there is an image quality improving ink having no coloring property. Such characteristics may be indistinguishable only by visual observation by the user. In such a case, the characteristics are provided as data when the image quality improving ink is manufactured, the characteristics of the image quality improving ink are recognized using the data, and the colorimetry is performed based on the ink amount of the image quality improving ink according to the recognized characteristics. Preferably, a patch can be printed.

Therefore, an image quality improving ink characteristic instruction receiving means for receiving an instruction capable of recognizing the characteristics of the image quality improving ink provided in the printing apparatus to the colorimetric patch printing means and the ink amount of the colored ink corresponding to the characteristic of the image quality improving ink. And a corresponding pattern storage unit for storing a plurality of patterns corresponding to the ink amount of the image quality improving ink. Then, a corresponding pattern corresponding to the instruction received by the characteristic instruction receiving unit is obtained from the corresponding pattern storage unit, and the correspondence between the ink amount of the color ink and the ink amount of the image quality improving ink defined in the obtained corresponding pattern is obtained. Print a colorimetric patch based on the. This makes it possible to print a colorimetric patch that accurately reflects the characteristics of the image quality improving ink. Therefore, the accuracy of the color conversion table created based on such colorimetric patches is improved.
[0013]
As one example of a method of instructing the characteristics of the image quality improving ink, the image quality improving ink characteristic instruction receiving unit acquires an ink ID capable of recognizing the characteristics of the image quality improving ink arranged in the printing apparatus, and uses the acquired ink ID as the image quality. The characteristics of the improved ink. At the time of manufacture, an ink ID corresponding to the characteristics of the image quality improving ink is recorded in an ink cartridge or the like. Then, the ink ID is read at the time of printing, and a colorimetric patch is printed based on the correspondence between the ink amount of the color ink suitable for the ink ID and the ink amount of the image quality improving ink. This makes it possible to accurately reflect the characteristics of the image quality improving ink. As an example of characteristics suitable for use in the image quality improving ink, the image quality improving ink is formed of a substantially transparent liquid containing no coloring material. When a color component is included in the image quality improvement ink, it is difficult to grasp the color generated due to the amount of the image quality improvement ink. Therefore, by employing a substantially transparent liquid as the image quality improving ink, it is possible to create a highly accurate color conversion table that is not affected by the color of the image quality improving ink.
[0014]
It goes without saying that the above-described color conversion table creation device can be realized as a method, and it goes without saying that the invention can be realized as a program that can realize equivalent functions in the device. In addition, it goes without saying that the technical concept of the present invention is also reflected in a print control device that generates print data for causing a printing device to print using the color conversion table created by the above-described method. Further, it goes without saying that the print control apparatus is also realized as a method and as a program.

[0016]
(1) Method of creating color conversion table (general theory):
FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram schematically illustrating the steps of a color conversion table creation method according to the present invention. Since this step requires a lot of arithmetic processing, it is preferable to use a computer. In addition, since printing is actually performed, it is preferable to perform printing using a printer that performs printing using the created color conversion table. Halftone processing (HT) described below is also used as halftone processing (HT). It needs to be the same algorithm as the tone processing. The color conversion table according to the present embodiment is a table that defines the correspondence between RGB color component values and CMYKlclm ink values for 17 ** 3 (17 to the third power) reference points. By performing the interpolation processing with reference to the above, it is possible to associate the RGB color component values with the CMYKlclm ink values for an arbitrary color.
[0017]
In the present embodiment, the RGB color component values are data conforming to the sRGB standard used in a display for a computer, and represent colors by a combination of RGB colors expressed in 256 tones. The CMYKlclm ink value is data for specifying the amount of ink to be ejected by the printer according to the present embodiment, and has 256 gradations for each color, and expresses a color by a combination of each color. In order to perform printing by a printer, it is necessary to associate RGB color component values with CMYKlclm ink values in a color conversion table. However, since CMYKlclm ink values are printer-dependent colors, color conversion When a table is created, generally, the actual print result of a printer is measured. Then, a color conversion table is created by associating the RGB color component values with the colors of the CMYKlclm ink values in the device-independent color space.
[0018]
In the present embodiment, the Lab color space is adopted as the device-independent color space described above. In the process of creating the color conversion table, first, the Lab color space is used for each of the RGB color component values and the CMYKlclm ink values. Will be specified. The RGB color component values conform to the sRGB standard as described above, and the sRGB color component values can be converted into coordinate values in the Lab color space by a predetermined conversion formula. In FIG. 1, the coordinates after the conversion are expressed as (L0, a0, b0). At this stage, a plurality of RGB color component values are converted into coordinate values in the Lab color space. In the color conversion table, in order to enable color conversion to be performed for an arbitrary color represented by RGB color component values and CMYKlclm ink values, a reference point whose correspondence is defined in the color conversion table is a display point. In addition, it is preferable to be distributed over substantially the entire color gamut of the printer.
[0019]
However, since the color gamut of the display and the printer is generally different, color gamut mapping for converting the color on the display into a color that can be expressed by the printer is performed. Also, when outputting an image, it is often better to convert it to a color that is closer to the memory color of humans than to output the actual color, such as flesh color or blue sky, as it is. For, the actual color is converted to the memory color. In FIG. 1, the coordinates in the Lab color space obtained by converting the coordinates (L0, a0, b0) in this way are represented as (L1, a1, b1), and the color component values of a plurality of RGB are , And the coordinates (L1, a1, b1).
[0020]
On the other hand, the ink values of CMYKlclm are device-dependent colors. Therefore, the colorimetric patches actually printed are measured by a colorimeter to obtain the coordinate values in the Lab color space as the colorimetric data. However, the ink values of CMYKlclm are data expressing an arbitrary color by appropriately combining the respective ink amounts of the six color inks, and a very similar color can be expressed by a large number of combinations. In this embodiment, 10 ** 3 patches are measured. However, even if the coordinates are different in the ink amount space, a very large number of similar colors exist. Even if the combination is determined, it is distributed over substantially the entire color gamut of the printer, and it is difficult to select a preferable combination of six colors when performing color conversion for an arbitrary color. Therefore, in general, color separation processing for converting the virtual CMY values into six color ink amounts is performed, and the concept of the color separation processing is also adopted in the present embodiment.
[0021]
In this color separation processing, a three-dimensional space (virtual CMY space) in which each color is an orthogonal axis while expressing the three colors of CMY in 256 gradations is considered, and colors to be measured in this virtual CMY space are indicated. The coordinate value is determined, and the coordinate value is converted into a six-dimensional ink value by a predetermined conversion formula. That is, since it is easy to create a conversion formula for converting a coordinate value in a three-dimensional space into a coordinate value in a six-dimensional space, first, 10 ** 3 colorimetric objects are set in a three-dimensional virtual CMY space. Then, the three-dimensional to six-dimensional conversion is performed using this conversion formula to determine the CMYKlclm ink values.
[0022]
In the color separation processing, conversion is performed so that the ink recording rate can be specified from the ink value after the color separation processing. In the simplest case, the ink recording rate is converted so that the ink recording rate can be specified from each ink value by equally assigning 0 to 100% of the ink recording rate to each of the gradations of 0 to 256. Separation can be performed by a conversion formula that takes into account various restrictions such as a restriction on a recording amount and a restriction on the use of black ink. In any case, the ink recording rate can be specified from the ink value after the separation processing.
[0023]
When the ink values of CMYKlclm are specified as described above, 10 ** 3 sets of coordinate values to be measured are obtained in an ink amount space of 256 gradations for each color, and based on the color indicated by the coordinate values. Print a colorimetric patch. In an ink-jet printer, the number of gradations of 2 to 4 for each dot, that is, 2 gradations in a state where ink droplets are recorded and in a state where recording is not performed, and 4th floor in a state where ink droplets are not recorded and a state where large, medium and small dots are recorded Since tone expression is performed by tone or the like, halftone processing is performed on each of the 256 color ink amounts to convert the data into data representing the tone of each dot in the printer. When printing is performed based on this data, 10 ** 3 colorimetric patches are obtained, and these are measured by a colorimeter to determine the coordinates of the 10 ** 3 colorimetric patches in the Lab color space. The value can be specified. Here, in FIG. 1, this coordinate value is shown as (L2, a2, b2).
[0024]
By the above steps, the coordinate values (L2, a2, b2) corresponding to the 256-level CMYKlclm ink values and the coordinate values (L1, a1, b1) corresponding to the 256-level RGB color component values are calculated. Since they can be specified, the correspondence between the RGB color component values and the CMYKlclm ink values is determined. Although the coordinate values (L2, a2, b2) and the coordinate values (L1, a1, b1) do not indicate the same color, since there are 10 ** 3 coordinate values in the color space, An arbitrary CMYKlclm ink value can be calculated from the values (L2, a2, b2) by interpolation, and an arbitrary RGB color component value can be calculated from the coordinate values (L1, a1, b1) by interpolation. . Therefore, the correspondence between the RGB color component values and the CMYKlclm ink values can be defined by the interpolation calculation, and as a result, the above-described color conversion table can be determined.
[0025]
Here, an image quality improving ink may be used in order to improve the image quality by improving the water resistance, light resistance, glossiness, color development, and the like of the print quality. As this image quality improving ink, it is preferable to use a colorless and transparent ink which has the same gloss as other inks and improves the color developability of the other inks. As such an image quality improving ink, for example, the ink described in JP-A-8-60059 can be used. This makes it possible to improve the image quality of a printed image without adjusting the ejection amount of CMYKlclm ink. Further, by using an ink that improves water resistance and light resistance, the water resistance and light resistance of a printed image can be improved. For example, when using an ink set showing different gloss depending on the printing duty, when printing is performed on a printing medium having a relatively high gloss such as glossy paper, when printing is performed on a printing medium having a relatively high gloss such as glossy paper, If more image quality improving ink is ejected to an area where the amount of ink ejection is small, it is possible to increase gloss in an area where CMYKlclm ink is not ejected. As a result, the difference in gloss between the high ink density region and the low ink density region can be reduced, and uneven gloss can be improved. On the other hand, when printing on a relatively low-gloss printing medium such as non-glossy paper, if more image quality improving ink is ejected in the area where the amount of CMYKlclm ink is ejected, the image quality is increased in the area where the amount of CMYKlclm ink is ejected. Since the improved ink is ejected, it is possible to improve the color developability in a region where the ink density is high.
[0026]
The ink value for specifying the ink amount of the image quality improving ink is defined by a predetermined corresponding pattern corresponding to the CMYKlclm ink value in the color conversion table determined in the above-described process. The corresponding pattern differs depending on the type of print medium (glossy paper, non-glossy paper) and the print mode. The image quality improving ink described above is assumed to be substantially colorless and transparent. That is, it is assumed that the color formed by the CMYKlclm ink does not change even when the image quality improving ink is mixed with the CMYKlclm ink. However, some types of the image quality improving ink have a slight color tone, and the ink values of such an image quality improving ink are converted into a color conversion table (RGB color component values and CMYKlclm ink values) in the above-described process. Is determined based on the ink values of the CMYKlclm inks on the color conversion table after the determination of the correspondence relationship between the RGB color component values and the CMYKlclm ink values. It is likely to be.
[0027]
That is, the color tone when printing is actually mixed with the CMYKlclm ink and the image quality improving ink is different from the color tone when printing without mixing the image quality improving ink. Therefore, if the correspondence between the RGB color component values and the CMYKlclm ink values is defined and then color conversion is performed using a color conversion table that reflects the ink values of the image quality improving ink, the accuracy will deteriorate. That is, the accuracy of the color conversion table is poor. Therefore, in the present embodiment, at the stage of printing a colorimetric patch, the image quality improving ink is reflected on the colorimetric patch, and the colorimetric patch on which the image quality improving ink is reflected is measured to measure the RGB color component values and CMYKlclm. By defining the correspondence between the ink value of the image quality improvement ink and the ink value of the image quality improvement ink, it is possible to create a color conversion table with high accuracy when the image quality improvement ink is used.
[0028]
(2) Apparatus and processing for creating a color conversion table:
In the present invention, the color conversion table is made more accurate by using a colorimetric patch reflecting the image quality improvement ink at the stage of creating the color conversion table as described above. The apparatus and processing for that will be described. FIG. 2 is a configuration diagram showing an internal configuration of a computer to which a color conversion table creating device for creating a color conversion table (LUT) according to the present invention is applied. Here, it is preferable to change the ink value of the image quality improving ink corresponding to the ink value of CMYKlclm according to the printing medium on which the colorimetric patch is printed. This is because the effect obtained by using the image quality improving ink differs between glossy paper and non-glossy paper as described above. Therefore, if the pattern defining the ink value of the image quality improving ink is changed according to the printing medium, the colorimetric data can be appropriately acquired according to the printing medium, and the high-precision LUT 12c corresponding to the printing medium can be obtained. Can be created. Therefore, in the present embodiment, glossy paper and non-glossy paper are adopted as print media for printing colorimetric patches, and a plurality of patterns that individually define the ink value of the image quality improvement ink for glossy paper and non-glossy paper are used. Are prepared in advance, and the user is allowed to select which pattern is used to create the LUT 12c in accordance with the characteristics of each pattern described later. This makes it possible to print a colorimetric patch reflecting the ink value of the image quality improving ink based on an appropriate pattern appropriately selected according to the mode of the print medium and other factors. By creating the LUT 12c based on such a colorimetric patch, the accuracy of the LUT 12c can be further improved.

FIG. 6 is a screen configuration diagram showing an example of a screen configuration displayed when an ejection pattern of the image quality improvement ink is selected, and FIG. 7 shows the contents of the image quality improvement ink defining process executed in such a case. It is a flowchart shown. In the figure, when the image quality improving ink defining process is executed by the
[0040]
Then, based on the selection, the type of the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is printed is acquired (step S200). If it is determined that the obtained print medium type is glossy paper (step S205), a pattern number is obtained based on the content selected in the glossy paper patterns M11a to M11c (step S210). Then, a glossy paper pattern corresponding to this pattern number is obtained from the pattern data (step S215). On the other hand, when it is determined that the type of the print medium obtained in step S205 is non-glossy paper, a pattern number is obtained based on the content selected in the non-glossy paper patterns M12a to M12f (step S220). ). Then, a non-glossy paper pattern corresponding to this pattern number is obtained from the pattern data (step S225). After acquiring the pattern data, the ink value of the image quality improving ink is defined based on the pattern data (step S230).
[0041]
Here, FIGS. 8 to 14 show an example of pattern data configuration for glossy paper, and FIGS. 15 to 17 show examples of pattern data configuration for non-glossy paper. In the present embodiment, FIGS. 8 to 14 correspond to
[0042]
(4) Structure of pattern data:
FIG. 8 shows pattern data corresponding to the
[0043]
The ink recording rate VCL of the image quality improving ink is set so that the value when the ink recording rate VS is substantially 0% is larger than the value when the ink recording rate VS is substantially 100%. Therefore, the glossiness of the area where the ink recording rate VS is low can be enhanced by the image quality improving ink, and the difference in gloss between the area where the ink recording rate VS is high and the glossiness can be reduced. In an area where the ink recording rate VS is large, the ink recording rate VCL is set to be small so that unnecessarily image quality improving ink is not ejected. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the print medium from waving, prevent the time required for the discharged ink from drying to be long, and save the amount of image quality improving ink used.
[0044]
Further, the value of the ink recording rate VCL is set so that the value of the total ink recording rate VT is not less than a first predetermined value A which is not 0 regardless of the ink recording rate VS. That is, the ejection amount of the image quality improving ink is set so that the total amount of all the ejected inks is equal to or more than the first predetermined value A in the entire area of the print image. As a result, gloss over a predetermined strength can be maintained in the entire area of the print image, and it is possible to prevent a low gloss area from being conspicuous. In the example of FIG. 8, the predetermined value A is 30%, but this value A can be determined according to the type of ink used and the type of print medium.

FIG. 12 shows pattern data corresponding to the glossy paper pattern 5. In the figure, the value of the ink recording rate VCL is set so that the value of the total ink recording rate VT is not less than a third predetermined value C which is not zero. Therefore, even when the print medium has low gloss, the difference in gloss can be stably reduced regardless of the value of the ink recording rate VS. Further, the value of the ink recording rate VCL is set such that there is no area where the value of the total ink recording rate VT decreases as the value of the ink recording rate VS increases. Therefore, even in an area where the value of the ink recording rate VS continuously increases in the print image, for example, in a gradation area, it is possible to improve uneven gloss so that boundaries having different gloss are not conspicuous. In the example of FIG. 12, the above third predetermined value C is 30%, but this value C can be determined according to the type of ink used and the print medium.

FIG. 14 shows pattern data corresponding to the pattern 7 for glossy paper. In the figure, the value of the ink recording rate VCL is set so that the value of the total ink recording rate VT is equal to or greater than a first predetermined value A that is not 0. Further, in an area where the value of the ink recording rate VS is smaller than the first predetermined value A, the value of the ink recording rate VCL is set to be equal to or greater than a fourth value D which is not zero. The fourth predetermined value D is a value larger than the first predetermined value A. Therefore, even when the gloss of the print medium is low, the difference in gloss can be stably reduced by setting the value of the ink recording rate VCL to be equal to or more than the fourth predetermined value D in an area where the ink recording rate VS is small. Can be. Further, in a region where the value of the ink recording rate VS is smaller than the first predetermined value A, the control of the ejection amount of the image quality improving ink is simplified by setting the value of the ink recording rate VCL to a constant value. be able to. In the example of FIG. 14, the first predetermined value A is 20% and the fourth predetermined value d is 40%. These values A and D are the type of the ink used and the printing medium. Can be determined according to the type.

(5) Modification:
In the embodiment described above, each pattern data is defined in advance and stored in the HDD 12. In such a case, it is preferable that the pattern data can be appropriately adjusted according to the user's preference, because the intention of the user can be reflected and the LUT 12c with higher accuracy can be created. FIG. 18 is a screen configuration diagram showing an example of a screen configuration displayed when correcting the pattern data. The image quality improving ink adjustment screen M2 is displayed by the function of the image quality improving ink defining process. In the figure, an image quality improvement ink adjustment screen M2 is a screen M21 showing the correspondence between the ink recording rate VS of CMYKlclm and the total ink recording rate VT of the ink recording rate VS and the ink recording rate VCL of the image quality improving ink. indicate. On this screen M21, a correspondence image M22 is displayed, and on the correspondence image M22, a locus M23 indicating the ink recording rate VS and a locus M24 indicating the total ink recording rate are drawn. Here, the locus M24 can be changed by input means such as a mouse, and the locus M24 on the correspondence image M22 can be changed to change the ink recording rate VCL of the image quality improving ink. It has become possible. After performing the change operation, the user presses the OK button M25 to set the changed content. On the other hand, when canceling the change operation, the user pushes down the cancel button M26. At this time, the ink recording rate VCL of the image quality improving ink is set to a predetermined initial value. Then, the above-described image quality improving ink defining process is executed based on the pattern data thus set.
[0055]
The characteristics of the image quality improving ink (color tint, etc.) can be determined by the ink ID stored in the memory provided in the ink cartridge. Therefore, the ink ID may be acquired, and the ink value of the image quality improving ink may be defined based on the pattern data corresponding to the ink ID. FIG. 19 is a table configuration diagram illustrating an example of a table configuration of an ID correspondence table indicating a correspondence between an ink ID and a pattern. FIG. 20 is a flowchart showing the content of the image quality improving ink defining process executed in such a case. In the present embodiment, if the ink ID is “1” in the ID correspondence table and the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is to be printed is

In the figure, first, a printer information acquisition request is output to the connected printer 20 (step S300). When the printer information is obtained (step S305), the printer information is analyzed to determine the ink ID (step S310). Here, it is determined whether or not the print medium on which the colorimetric patch is to be printed is glossy paper (step S315). Whether the paper is glossy paper or non-glossy paper is determined based on data set on a predetermined setting screen. If it is glossy paper, the

(6) Summary:
As described above, at the stage of printing the colorimetric patch, the image quality improving ink is reflected on the colorimetric patch. By defining the correspondence between the image quality improving ink and the ink value, it is possible to create a color conversion table with high accuracy when using the image quality improving ink.
Further, the ink set of the color ink is not limited to CMYKlclm, and the present invention can be applied to various combinations.
