Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a sheet feeding device used in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, and more particularly, to a sheet feeding device that separates a recording material using a friction pad.
[0002]
[Prior art]
At present, as a paper feeding device in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, there is known a paper feeding device equipped with a paper feeding / separating mechanism for feeding and separating a recording material from a paper feeding cassette for loading a recording material such as a recording paper. In this paper feed separation mechanism, a friction pad urged by an elastic member such as a spring is pressed into contact with a paper feed roller, and the recording material is separated one by one using the frictional force of the friction pad and supplied to a printing unit. Known are those on paper. FIG. 4 shows an example of such a case, which includes a spring 31, a pressing member 32 pressed by the spring 31, a friction pad 33 provided on the pressing member 32, and a paper feed roller 34 pressed against the friction pad 33. I have. In this example, the length of the friction pad 33 and the length of the paper feed roller 34 are set to 50 mm, but in general, such a length is often adopted.
By the way, in this separation method, when the surface of the recording material rubs the surface of the friction pad (when the paper is fed), squeal (abnormal noise) is likely to occur due to frictional force. The squeal is reduced by reducing the friction coefficient of the friction pad, but as a side effect thereof, double feed or non-feed is likely to occur. To solve such a problem, for example, as described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-198560, by cutting out portions from the vicinity of the nip to the downstream side in the sheet conveyance direction at both ends of the friction pad, squealing, double feeding, and non-feeding can be prevented. Methods have been considered to reduce this.
[Patent Document 1] JP-A-2000-198560
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the friction pad having the notch shape as described above, when the length of the nip (the width of the paper feed roller) is secured to a predetermined amount or more (for example, about 50 mm), it is possible to solve the problem such as the noise. In the case where the length of the width of the feed roller, that is, the length of the nip in the separation unit is shortened (for example, less than half of the width described above) due to cost reduction or downsizing of the feed roller, It is difficult to control squeal, double feed and non-feed. This is because the double feed is likely to occur when the nip length, which greatly contributes to the separation performance, is shortened. However, when the friction pad pressure (separation pressure) is increased to suppress it, squeal is likely to occur, and these are balanced. This is because it becomes difficult.
Therefore, the present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problem, and even if the length of the paper feed roller is not sufficiently ensured, the noise (abnormal noise) and the double feed in the friction pad separation system can be obtained. It is another object of the present invention to provide a sheet feeding device capable of suppressing occurrence of non-feeding.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, in the invention according to claim 1, a paper feed roller that feeds a recording material and a pressing member that separates the recording material while pressing the recording material against the paper feed roller side are provided. A paper feeder provided with a friction pad comprising a central portion of the pad and both side portions of the pad which are in contact with the recording material of the pressing member with a step, and the paper feed roller is arranged to face the central portion of the pad. The most important feature of the sheet feeding device is that the length of the sheet feeding roller is shorter than the length of the central portion of the pad.
In a second aspect of the present invention, the pad central portion is mainly characterized by a sheet feeding device capable of adjusting an inclination angle with respect to the sheet feeding roller.
In a third aspect of the present invention, a main feature of the paper feeder is that both sides of the pad can adjust an inclination angle with respect to the paper feed roller.
In a fourth aspect of the present invention, the central part of the pad and the both sides of the pad are mainly characterized by a sheet feeding device having different materials.
[0005]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a sheet feeding device 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in the drawing, a paper feeding device 100 is provided corresponding to a paper feeding cassette 10 in which recording papers, which are recording materials, are collectively loaded. The paper is fed to
FIG. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the sheet feeding device 100. As shown in FIG. 2, the paper feeding device 100 includes a paper feeding roller 1 for sending out recording paper, a pressing member 2 for pressing the recording paper toward the paper feeding roller 1, a pad central portion 3 a, and pad side portions. 3b, a friction pad 3 attached and fixed to the side of the pressing member 2 facing the paper feed roller 1, and a spring 4 for urging the pressing member 2 toward the paper feed roller 1. .
The pad central portion 3a and the pad side portions 3b separate the recording paper one by one by friction when the recording paper rubs, and the material is selected so that a required frictional force is obtained with respect to the recording paper. ing. In this example, the pad central portion 3a and the pad side portions 3b are made of different materials in order to further improve the sheet separating effect, and the respective frictional forces on the recording paper are set.
The pad central portion 3a is disposed at a position facing the sheet feed roller 1, and pad side portions 3b are disposed on both sides thereof. A step 5 is formed between the pad central portion 3a and the pad side portions 3b so that the step portion 5 is formed, and the pad central portion 3a is recessed as compared with the pad side portions 3b. Further, in this example, the inclination angle of the pad central portion 3a with respect to the paper feed roller 1 can be adjusted, whereby the step difference between the pad central portion 3a and the pad side portions 3b is changed to adjust the transport load. Is possible.
Further, as shown in FIG. 2, the width (axial length) of the paper feed roller 1 is set to 20 mm in this example, which is significantly shorter than the general length of about 50 mm. Has contributed to. Further, the width of the pad central portion 3a is set to 25 mm, and is longer than the width of the paper feed roller 1, so that the recording paper can be pushed into the depression (pad central portion 3a) of the friction pad 3 by the paper feed roller 1. I have.
[0006]
FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating a state when the sheet feeding device 100 is viewed from the downstream side in the recording sheet conveyance direction. As can be seen from this figure, in the separation operation of the recording paper, pressing the recording paper against the central portion 3a of the pad causes a nip separation action by the paper feed roller 1 and the central portion 3a of the pad, and also causes the pad side portions 3b to be separated. When the recording paper rides on the step 5, the recording paper is caught on the edge, and an edge separation action occurs.
Therefore, in the paper feeding device 100, even if the length of the paper feeding roller 1 is not sufficiently ensured, the edge separation effect can be generated in addition to the nip separation effect, so that double feed or non-feed occurs. Can be suppressed. Further, since the edge separating action is obtained, it is not necessary to increase the urging force for pressing the recording paper, and the generation of squeal (abnormal noise) is prevented.
Further, since the inclination angle of the pad central portion 3a with respect to the paper feed roller 1 can be adjusted, for example, in the case of a recording sheet such as a color sheet in which double feeding is likely to occur, a large inclination angle is set to prevent the occurrence of double feeding. Can be suppressed. Also, when thick paper is used, if the step portion 5 has a large step, wrinkles may occur at that portion, or the paper load may be so strong that the effect of the step portion 5 may affect the transport load. However, by adjusting the inclination angle of the pad central portion 3a so as to reduce the step, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of wrinkles and the adverse effect on the transport load. Further, since the pad central portion 3a and the pad side portions 3b are made of different materials, and the respective frictional forces on the recording paper are set, the effect of separating the paper can be further improved.
In the above-described embodiment, the case where the inclination angle of the pad central portion 3a is adjustable is described. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, it is possible to adjust the inclination angle of the pad side portions 3b. However, the same effect can be obtained. Although the width of the feed roller 1 is set to 20 mm and the length of the pad central portion 3a is set to 25 mm, the length of the feed roller 1 and the pad side portions 3b may be set freely.
[0007]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect, even when the length of the paper feed roller is not sufficiently ensured, it is possible to cause the edge separation action in addition to the nip separation action. The occurrence of non-feed can be suppressed. Further, since the edge separating action is obtained, it is not necessary to increase the urging force for pressing the recording paper, and the generation of squeal (abnormal noise) is prevented.
According to the second aspect, the inclination angle of the central portion of the pad with respect to the paper feed roller can be adjusted. Can be suppressed. When thick paper is used, if the step of the step is large, wrinkles may occur at that point, or the paper may have a strong stiffness, and the effect of the step may affect the transport load, which may be excessive. By adjusting the inclination angle of the central portion of the pad so that the step is reduced, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of wrinkles and the adverse effect on the transport load.
According to the third aspect, the inclination angle of the pad on both sides with respect to the paper feed roller can be adjusted. Can be suppressed. When thick paper is used, if the step at the step is large, wrinkles may occur at that point, or the paper may have a strong stiffness, and the effect of the step may affect the transport load, which may be excessive. By adjusting the inclination angle of the pad on both sides so as to reduce the step, the occurrence of wrinkles and the adverse effect on the transport load can be suppressed.
According to the fourth aspect, the pad central portion and the pad side portions are made of different materials, and the respective frictional forces with respect to the recording paper are set, so that the paper separating effect can be further improved.
