Abstract
Description
【0001】

The present invention relates to a digital image recording and reading apparatus, and more particularly to an image recording and reading apparatus having an image recording unit of an ink jet recording system.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Recently, there has been an increasing demand for downsizing and cost reduction of facsimile machines. Attention has been paid to various studies for achieving this in that the above-mentioned facsimile apparatus is provided with a document-based transport mechanism and a recording-based transport mechanism separately.
[0006]
In other words, it was thought that if the recording paper transport mechanism for transporting the recording paper was also used as the original transport mechanism for transporting the original, the facsimile machine could be downsized. According to this configuration, the feeding roller, the paper discharging roller, the motor for driving the document, and the like, which are separately provided for conveying the document, are not required, and thus it is considered to be advantageous for reducing the size and cost of the apparatus.
[0007]
However, it has been found that adopting such an apparatus configuration causes a new problem. When the recording method is the ink jet method, it is known that ejecting ink directly below has more stable ejection characteristics than ejecting ink in the other direction, but in this case, printing is inevitable in this case. The recording paper is conveyed in the horizontal direction around the set. This is because the recording paper is arranged in a direction perpendicular to the ink ejection direction. The image quality is improved when the document is read at a position as close as possible to the transport rollers. If the recording paper is also recorded at a position as close as possible to the transport roller, the image quality is improved. In other words, in order to improve the image quality, it is preferable to arrange the reading unit around the printing unit. In this case, the reading unit is arranged in the horizontal direction.
[0008]
As described above, when the fixed reading unit that is not movable is disposed around the printing unit, the first problem occurs in that the white reference plate of the reading unit is stained by ink droplets during recording.
[0009]
For example, in a facsimile apparatus, generally, a pre-scan is executed to read light adjustment and shading data of a contact image sensor, and a white reference plate is read. However, correct data cannot be obtained, and as a result, the read image deteriorates.
[0010]
Further, if a document or recording paper jams at the reading position, the document or recording paper causing the jam becomes an obstacle, and a second problem occurs that the prescan operation cannot be performed at the reading position.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the present invention provides an image recording and reading apparatus in which a recording paper passage path and a document passage path are at least partially common. The reading unit and the white reference plate are retracted to a position where they will not be stained by the ink, and when reading a document, the reading unit and the white reference plate are moved to the document reading position. It is to let.
[0012]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
A preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail. This embodiment includes a recording unit that records an image on recording paper that is conveyed along a recording paper passage path, and a reading unit that reads a document that is conveyed on a document passage path that shares a path partially with the recording paper passage path. And moving the reading unit and the white reference plate to the first position when the recording unit executes the recording process, and the white reference plate for shading correction used when the reading unit executes the prescan. And a moving unit that moves the reading unit and the white reference plate to a second position for reading a document when the reading unit performs a reading process, wherein the reading unit performs a prescan at the second position. To provide an image recording and reading apparatus.
[0013]
In the case described above, the first position may be, for example, a retreat position where the white reference plate is hardly affected by the recording color material.
[0014]
Further, in any one of the above-mentioned two cases, a position detection unit for detecting that the reading unit and the white reference plate are present at the second position is further provided, and the reading unit and the white reference plate are connected to the second position. The pre-scan may be executed after it is detected that the image data exists at the position.
[0015]
Further, in any one of the three cases described above, a jam detection unit for detecting that a jam has occurred in a shared path between the recording paper passage path and the document passage path is further provided. The reading unit may execute the pre-scan at the second position when is not detected.

According to the present embodiment, in an image recording and reading apparatus in which a recording paper passage path and a document passage path are at least partially common, a white reference plate for shading correction is stained with ink during document recording or standby. The reading unit and the white reference plate are retracted to a position where they will not be read, and when reading a document, the reading unit and the white reference plate are moved to the document reading position, and in particular, prescanning is performed at the document reading position. did.
[0041]
More specifically, a recording unit that records an image on recording paper conveyed along a recording paper passage path, and a reading unit that reads a document conveyed on a document passage path that shares a path with a part of the recording paper passage path When the reading unit performs prescanning, the white reference plate for shading correction is used, and when the reading unit performs document reading, the reading unit and the white reference plate are moved to the document reading position. A moving unit that moves the reading unit and the white reference plate to a retracted position that is not easily affected by the recording color material at least when the recording unit is performing recording; and the reading unit and the white reference plate are in the reading position. An image recording / reading apparatus is provided that includes a prescan control unit (eg, CPU 101) that executes prescan at a certain time.

[Second embodiment]
In the present embodiment, when a document or recording paper jam occurs at the reading position, the document or recording paper that caused the jam becomes a hindrance, and in order to solve the problem that the pre-scan operation cannot be performed, the recording paper passage path is fixed. A jam detection unit for detecting a jam that has occurred in a common path with a document passage path is provided, and if a jam is not detected, a pre-scan is performed at a reading position.

According to the present embodiment, since the pre-scan is executed at the reading position after confirming that no jam has occurred, the possibility that the pre-scan is disturbed by the jam can be reduced. Further, it is possible to reduce the possibility of pre-scanning an object other than the white reference plate due to a jam. Since the white reference plate can be correctly prescanned, correct shading correction data is obtained, and as a result, the quality of the image will be improved.

[Other embodiments]
In the above-described embodiment, since the
[0053]
Normally, pre-scanning is performed at a position other than the standby position (for example, a reading position), and only when a jam occurs, the pre-scan is performed to a position (for example, a standby position) that is not easily affected by the occurrence of the jam. The unit may be moved and the pre-scan may be executed there.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, in a so-called one-pass type image recording and reading apparatus, during recording, the white reference plate is retracted to a position where the influence of the color material is small, while the white reference plate is moved to the reading position. By performing the prescan after the plate is moved, the size of the apparatus can be reduced, and the adverse effect on the shading data due to the contamination of the coloring material can be reduced. Further, since the pre-scan is performed at the reading position, the reading operation can be started immediately after the pre-scan, so that the throughput is improved.
