【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、後分岐性を有する光ケーブルに関し、特に、伝送損失を低減するとともに光ファイバの断線を防止することができる光ケーブルに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、後分岐性を有する光ケーブルとしては、図6に示すような構造の光ケーブル101が特許文献1により提案されている。

図6において、光ファイバ103は複数の光ファイバ素線を示しており、1対の略半円弧状のフォーミングパイプ105,105内の内部空隙107にルースに収容されている。このフォーミングパイプ105は、ポリエチレン,可塑化ポリ塩化ビニルなどからなるシース109で被覆されている。このシース109を形成するには通常の押出被覆法によって行われる。さらに、シース109内には、鋼線,黄銅線などの金属線あるいは繊維強化プラスチックなどからなる2本の抗張力体111,111と、プラスチック紐などからなる2本のリップコード113,113とが埋設されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上述したような構造の光ケーブル101にあっては、シース113内に縦添えされた抗張力体111とリップコード113によって生じる弾性と硬性に起因して、曲げ易い方向と曲げ難い方向とが決定される。

すなわち、y軸方向は抗張力体111,111がその中心線(図中x軸)からずれるため曲げ難い方向となる。一方、x軸方向は抗張力体111,111がその中心線(図中y軸)からずれないため曲げ易い方向となる。

ここで、光ケーブル101をx軸方向に曲げた場合、リップコード113,113には曲げ内側と曲げ外側の線長差により歪みが生じ、曲げ外側に配置されているリップコード113がケーブル内部の内部空隙107に落ち込むことが考えられる。この時、内部空隙107に落ち込んだリップコード113は、光ファイバ103に絡む可能性があり、伝送損失が増加することが考えられる。また、リップコード113が光ファイバ103に絡んでいる状態において、リップコード113を光ケーブル101の径方向外側に無理に引っ張ってシース109を切り裂こうとすると、光ファイバ103が断線することが考えられる。

本発明は、上記に鑑みてなされたもので、その目的としては、ケーブルに曲げや衝撃が生じた場合でも、伝送損失を低減するとともに光ファイバの断線を防止することができる光ケーブルを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
請求項1記載の発明は、上記課題を解決するため、複数の素線を一束化した光ファイバと、略半円弧状のパイプ片を1対有し、各パイプ片の端部同士が所定間隔を隔てて対面してなす円形状の内部空隙に前記光ファイバを収容配置する緩衝層と、前記光ファイバを内包した前記緩衝層を収納するシースと、前記シースに収納された略半円弧状のパイプ片の中央部位の近傍に設けられ伸長方向の張力を吸収する抗張力体と、前記シースに収納された略半円弧状のパイプ片の端部の中央部位に設けられシースの引き裂きに用いるリップコードとを備えたことを要旨とする。

(第1の実施の形態)
図1は、本発明の第1の実施の形態に係る光ケーブル11の構成を示す断面図である。

図1に示す光ケーブル11は、複数の光ファイバ素線からなる光ファイバ13、上記複数の光ファイバ素線を一束化する粗まき紐15、パイプ片17a,17bからなるフォーミングパイプ17、光ファイバ13を収容する内部空隙19、当該ケーブルを構成する様々な部材を収容するシース21、伸長方向の張力を吸収する抗張力体23a,23b、シース21の引き裂きに用いるリップコード25a,25bから構成されている。

光ファイバ13は、1本が250μmの光ファイバ素線を例えば20本有し、これら20本の光ファイバ素線の外周に一方向に粗まき紐15により巻き付けられて一束化され、1対の略半円弧状のパイプ片17a,17bがなす内部空隙19にルースに収容されており、1対のパイプ片17a,17bが間隔dを隔てて対面している。

1対のパイプ片17a,17bからなるフォーミングパイプ17は、5.2mm幅を有し、後述するようにラミネートフィルム31上に基材33と緩衝層35が積層されており、直鎖型低密度ポリエチレンLLDPEからなる外径が9.5mmのシース21で被覆されている。

フォーミングパイプ17は、ラミネートフィルム上にポリエチレンテレフタレートからなる基材を貼り合わせ、さらに、この基材上に吸水パウダーが付着された不織布からなる緩衝層を貼り合わせて積層されている。この緩衝層は、繊維を毛羽立たせたので柔らかく緩衝効果が向上されており、吸水性を有している。

このフォーミングパイプ17は、図1に示すように、緩衝層が内部空隙19側に対面するように略半円弧状に曲げられ、光ファイバ13を衝撃から保護するとともに、ケーブル内に浸水があった場合でも、過度の浸水に対して防水効果を有している。

ここで、光ケーブル11をx軸方向に曲げた場合、リップコード25a,25bには曲げ内側と曲げ外側の線長差により歪みが生じ、曲げ外側に配置されているリップコード25a又は25bの何れか一方が内部空隙19に落ち込もうとするが、光ファイバ13が粗まき紐15により一方向に巻き付けられて一束化されているので、落ち込んでも光ファイバに絡むことはない。

この結果、ケーブルに曲げや衝撃が生じた場合でも、従来発生していた伝送損失を低減するとともに光ファイバの断線を防止することができる。

図4に示す比較表を参照して、図6に示す従来の光ケーブル101と、第1の実施の形態に係る光ケーブル11との耐衝撃性試験について説明する。

(耐衝撃性試験)
まず、一束化していない光ファイバ103を内包した従来の光ケーブル101を用意し、IEC(国際電気標準会議)60794−1−2に基づき、光ケーブル101の長手方向において20箇所、つまり20回の耐衝撃試験を実施した結果、内部空隙107へのリップコード113の落ち込みが2回あった。ただし、この時の伝送損失の増加はなかった。

これに対して、粗まき紐15を一方向に巻き付けて一束化した光ファイバ13を内包した本実施の形態の光ケーブル11を用意し、上記と同様にIEC60794−1−2に基づき、光ケーブル11の長手方向において20箇所、つまり20回の耐衝撃試験を実施した結果、試験後の観察では内部空隙19へのリップコード25a又は25bの落ち込みはみられず、衝撃を受けた時の伝送損失の増加がなかった。衝撃を受けた時に、リップコードが内部空隙19に一時的に落ち込み、光ファイバに絡むという現象を防止することができる。

【発明の効果】
請求項1記載の本発明によれば、フォーミングパイプの各パイプ片の端部同士が所定間隔を隔てて対面してなす円形状の内部空隙に一束化した光ファイバを収容配置し、次いで、このフォーミングパイプをシースに収納し、シースに収納された略半円弧状のパイプ片の中央部位の近傍に伸長方向の張力を吸収する抗張力体を設け、シースに収納された略半円弧状のパイプ片の端部の中央部位にシースの引き裂きに用いるリップコードを設けたので、ケーブルに曲げや衝撃が生じた場合でも、伝送損失を低減するとともに、光ファイバの断線を防止することができる。
