Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage to a fixing rotary member of a fixing device without hindering a normal movement of a separation member even in a case where foreign substances such as toner and silicone oil stick to an area between a separation member which separates a transfer sheet from the fixing rotary member and a support member which supports it.
SOLUTION: In the fixing device, a support member 40 supports a separation claw (separation member) 60 in such a manner that the separation claw 60 freely turns around a support shaft 50 and freely moves between a separation position where the separation claw is in slide contact with the circumference of the fixing roller (fixing rotary member) thereby separating a transfer sheet from the fixing roller and a spaced position where the separation claw is spaced from the circumference of the fixing roller. Projections are formed on the opposite contact faces 42a and 43a of the support member 40 or/and the contact face 61a of the separation claw 60.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a copier, a printer, a facsimile, or a multifunction peripheral thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to an image forming apparatus that forms a toner image on a transfer sheet such as paper or an OHP film by using an electrophotographic method. Also, the present invention relates to a fixing device for fixing a transfer image on a transfer sheet through a transfer sheet after image transfer in such an image forming apparatus or the like.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, an electrostatic latent image is formed on an image carrier by performing charging and writing, and the electrostatic latent image is visualized by attaching and developing toner. The toner image formed by forming a visible image was transferred to a transfer sheet. Then, the transfer sheet after the transfer of the toner image is put into a fixing device, and the transferred image is fixed to form a toner image on the transfer sheet.
[0003]
The fixing device includes, for example, a fixing roller 100 and a pressure roller 101 as shown in FIG. The fixing roller 100 includes a heat source 102. Further, the pressure roller 101 is urged by the spring 103 and pressed against the fixing roller 100.
[0004]
Then, the transfer sheet carrying the unfixed toner after the image transfer is guided by the guide member 104 and inserted between the nip between the fixing roller 100 and the pressure roller 101, and heat and pressure are applied between the nips to transfer the transfer toner image. After fixing, the sheet was discharged to the outside of the fixing device by the discharge roller 105.
[0005]
In such a fixing device, since the unfixed toner image surface of the transfer sheet is heated by the fixing roller 100, the toner may be offset on the fixing roller 100. Therefore, for example, Teflon (registered (Trademark) or a Teflon tube is wound around, and a Teflon layer is provided to enhance the releasability and reduce the toner offset to the fixing roller 100.
[0006]
Further, there is a possibility that the transfer sheet may be tightly wound around the fixing roller 100 due to the melting of the toner. For this reason, as shown in FIG. 8, a separation claw 106 is provided as a separation member after passing through the nip, and the claw portion 106a is lightly pressed against the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 100, and the claw portion 106a separates the fixing roller 100 from the fixing roller 100. The transfer sheet was peeled off and separated, and guided by the sheet guide surface 106 b of the separation claw 106 to the discharge roller 105.
[0007]
However, in this type of fixing device, when the transfer sheet 108 is bent in a bellows shape, for example, as shown in FIG. 9, the transfer sheet 108 comes into contact with the separation claw 106 and pushes up the separation claw 106 to raise the claw portion 106 a. In some cases, the fixing roller 100 may need to be replaced because the Teflon layer is damaged by being cut into the fixing roller 100.
[0008]
[Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2001-240284 Therefore, some conventional fixing devices fix the separation claw 106 when the jammed paper pushes up the separation claw 106 as disclosed in Patent Document 1, for example. There is one in which the above-described disadvantage is solved by displacing in a direction to avoid biting into the roller 100.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, even in such a fixing device, when the separation claw 106 is pushed up more than a certain amount, the claw portion 106a may damage the fixing roller 100. In particular, in the case of a fixing roller having an elastic layer on the surface for improving image quality, the claw portion 106a bites into the elastic layer and damages the elastic layer even if the pressing force is small, as compared with a fixing roller having a Teflon layer on the core metal. There was something to do.
[0010]
Further, even if the separation claw 106 is displaced, foreign substances such as toner and silicone oil applied to the fixing roller 100 enter between the separation claw 106 and the supporting member supporting the separation claw 106 with time. In addition, there is a possibility that the movement of the separation claw 106 is deteriorated to hinder the normal movement of the separation claw 106, and the fixing roller 100 is damaged.
[0011]
Therefore, a first object of the present invention is to provide a fixing device as described above, in which a separating member such as a separating claw for separating a transfer sheet from a fixing rotating member such as a fixing roller and a supporting member for supporting the same. An object of the present invention is to prevent damage to the fixing rotating member without hindering normal movement of the separating member even if foreign matter such as toner or silicone oil adheres.
[0012]
A second object of the present invention is to provide a fixing device as described above, in which a toner or toner is provided between a separation member such as a separation claw for separating a transfer sheet from a fixing rotating member such as a fixing roller and a support member supporting the separation member. An object of the present invention is to make it difficult for foreign substances such as silicone oil to adhere to the fixing member and prevent damage to the fixing rotating member without hindering normal movement of the separating member.
[0013]
A third object of the present invention is to guide a transfer sheet separated from a fixing rotating member without separately providing a guide component.
[0014]
A fourth object of the present invention is to make the separation member movable between a separation position and a separation position with a simple configuration.
[0015]

[0023]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 shows an overall schematic configuration of a laser copying machine as an example of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus provided with a fixing device according to the present invention.
[0024]
Reference numeral 10 in the figure denotes a copying machine main body of the laser copying machine. A drum-shaped image carrier 12 is provided substantially at the center of the copier main body 10 so as to be rotatable clockwise in the drawing. Around the image carrier 12, a charging device 13, a developing device 14, a transfer device 15, a cleaning device 16, and the like are arranged in the rotation direction in this order. A read / write device 17 is provided in the upper part of the copier main body 10.
[0025]
The read / write device 17 includes a contact glass 18 provided on the upper surface of the copying machine main body 10, an openable / closable original press 19 for holding a copy original set on the contact glass 18, and a copy original held by the original press 19. And an optical device 20 for reading an image and forming an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier 12.
[0026]
In the lower part of the copying machine main body 10, a paper feed cassette 22 for accommodating paper s as a transfer sheet is detachably attached. A paper feed roller 23 is provided on the front end side (right side in the figure) of the paper feed cassette 22. From the position of the paper feed roller 23, a paper feed path 24 extends rightward and joins a paper transport path 25 that goes upward from below. Immediately after the merging, the paper transport path 25 curves to the left, passes through the transfer position between the image carrier 12 and the transfer device 15, and extends further to the left.
[0027]
In the paper transport path 25, a transport roller 26 and a registration roller 27 are sequentially provided upstream of the transfer position, and a fixing device 30 and a paper discharge tray 31 are sequentially provided downstream. The fixing device 30 includes a fixing roller 32 serving as a fixing rotating member, and a pressure roller 33 pressed against the fixing roller 32. A discharge roller 34 is provided at the exit of the fixing device 30.
[0028]
When a copy of an original is made by the laser copying machine, a copy original is set on the contact glass 18, pressed by an original holder 19, and a start switch (not shown) is pressed. Then, the image carrier 12 rotates clockwise and the paper feed roller 23 rotates counterclockwise.
[0029]
Then, the paper s is fed out from the paper feed cassette 22, the fed paper s is put into the paper transport path 25 from the paper feed path 24, is transported by the transport roller 26, and the leading end of the paper s is abutted against the registration roller 27. The skew of the sheet s is corrected and stopped by the formation of.
[0030]
On the other hand, with the rotation of the image carrier 12, first, the charging device 13 uniformly charges the surface thereof to a predetermined polarity, and then reads the copy original by the reading / writing device 17, and irradiates the read contents, and Writing is performed thereon to form an electrostatic latent image. Then, toner is adhered by the developing device 14, and the electrostatic latent image is developed and visualized to form a toner image on the image carrier 12.
[0031]
Then, the registration roller 27 is rotated at the timing of alignment with the toner image on the image carrier 12 to feed out the paper s, and the toner image on the image carrier 12 is transferred onto the paper s by the transfer device 15 at the transfer position. Transcribe.
[0032]
The paper s after the image transfer is put between the nip between the fixing roller 32 and the pressure roller 33 of the fixing device 30 and heat and pressure are applied to fix the transfer toner image on the paper s. And is stacked on the discharge tray 31.
[0033]
On the other hand, with the rotation of the image carrier 12 after the image transfer, the cleaning device 16 removes the residual toner still remaining on the surface after the image transfer, and prepares for the second image formation starting from the charging.
[0034]
By the way, in such a laser copying machine, the fixing roller 32 of the fixing device 30 is provided with a Teflon layer on a core metal such as aluminum or iron, or PFA (tetrafluoro-perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether resin). And a release resin layer such as PTFE (tetrafluoroethylene resin). The core metal capacity is closely related to the warm-up time, and if the warm-up time is to be reduced, the core metal thickness should be reduced. In the case of aluminum, the thickness is usually 0.2 mm or more on the assumption that a strength auxiliary member for suppressing deformation of the cylinder is provided.
[0035]
Inside the fixing roller 32, a heat source, such as a halogen lamp or a resistance heating element, for heating the fixing roller 32 is disposed. The number of heat sources is not limited to one, but may be plural. Further, the fixing roller 32 may be provided not only inside but also outside. Further, the pressure roller 33 may be heated to indirectly heat the fixing roller 32.
[0036]
Although not shown, a temperature detecting means is provided in contact with the fixing roller 32, and the temperature detecting means detects the temperature and turns on / off the power supply to the heat source so as to appropriately fix the unfixed transferred toner image. I do.
[0037]
On the other hand, the pressure roller 33 is provided with a heat-resistant, low-hardness, elastic layer such as silicon rubber or silicon sponge on a metal core such as aluminum or iron, and has a surface on the surface thereof. , PFA, PTFE, and the like, and provided with a coating layer made of a resin having high releasability. Then, although not shown, the spring is urged against the fixing roller 32 by a spring.
[0038]
FIG. 2 shows a sheet separating device 36 that separates the sheet s after image fixing from the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 32. FIG. 3 shows a longitudinal section of the sheet separating device 36. FIG. 4 shows the sheet separating device 36 as viewed from the fixing roller 32 side.
[0039]
Reference numeral 40 in the figure is a support member. The support member 40 is formed by bending a plate material into a U-shape, and includes a top portion 41 and opposed front and rear side portions 42 and 43. Elongated holes 44 and 45 are formed in the front and rear side portions 42 and 43 so as to face each other, and are bent outward to form bent locking pieces 46 and 47. Further, guide pins 48 are set up on the rear side plate 43 so as to face inward. The support member 40 is attached to and fixed to another member in the copier main body 10 to support it.
[0040]
The support shaft 50 is passed through the long holes 44 and 45 of the support member 40, and fixing members 51 and 52 such as washers and rings are attached to the support shaft 50 to prevent the support shaft 50 from coming off. One end of each of the two first springs 53 and 54 is hung on both ends of the support shaft 50. The other ends of the first springs 53 and 54 are respectively hooked on bent locking pieces 46 and 47, and are urged by the first springs 53 and 54 to hold the support shaft 50 below the elongated holes 44 and 45. I do.
[0041]
The support shaft 50 passes through the bearing 61 of the separation claw 60 serving as a separation member between the front and rear side portions 42 and 43 of the support member 40. Then, the separation claw 60 is supported by the support member 40 so as to be rotatable around the support shaft 50. The separation claw 60 extends downward from the bearing 61 and forms a plate-like claw 62 toward the fixing roller 32. A sheet guide surface 63 is provided on the lower surface of the claw 62, and the separation claw 60 extends upward from the bearing 61. Thus, a rod-shaped locking portion 64 is formed.
[0042]
Then, one end of the second spring 65 is hung on the locking portion 64, the separation claw 60 is urged, the tip of the claw portion 62 is pressed against the fixing roller 32, and the fixing roller 32 is brought into sliding contact with the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 32. 32 is a separation position where the sheet s is separated from the sheet 32. The other end of the second spring 65 is hung on a member (not shown) such as a fixing case. At this time, the inclined edge 66 of the claw 62 is adjacent to the guide pin 48 erected on the support member 40.
[0043]
Accordingly, even if the sheet s that has passed through the nip between the fixing roller 32 and the pressure roller 33 may come into close contact with the fixing roller 32 due to the melting of the toner, the sheet s that comes into close contact with the fixing roller 32 is peeled by the separation claw 60. The sheet can be guided by the sheet guide surface 63 to the discharge roller 34, discharged by the discharge roller 34, and stacked on the discharge tray 31.
[0044]
At this time, even if the paper s jams and pushes up the separation claw 60, the support shaft 50 is moved along the elongated holes 44 and 45 of the support member 40 against the first springs 53 and 54. The claw 62 is moved upward to separate the fixing roller 32 from the fixing roller 32 so that the claw 62 does not damage the fixing roller 32.
[0045]
In the illustrated example, the elongated holes 44 and 45 of the support member 40 are inserted in the tangential direction of the fixing roller 32 at a position where the separation claw 60 contacts the fixing roller at the separation position so that the claw 62 does not damage the fixing roller 32. It is open to.
[0046]
The retracted separation claw 60 is set at a separated position separated from the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 32, and the sheet guide surface 63 is raised to a position indicated by a chain line L in FIG. The inclined edge 66 of the fixing roller 32 is brought into contact with the guide pin 48, and the separating claw 60 is rotated clockwise so that the claw 62 is securely separated from the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 32.
[0047]
As described above, the separation claw 60 serving as the separation member is slidably contacted with the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 32 serving as the fixing rotating member by the support member 40, thereby separating the sheet s serving as the transfer sheet from the fixing roller 32. , Which is movably supported at a position separated from the peripheral surface of the fixing roller 32.
[0048]
FIG. 5 shows the separation claw 60 as viewed from the axial direction of the support shaft 50.
[0049]
The inner surfaces 42a and 43a of the front and rear side portions 42 and 43 of the support member 40 and the both side surfaces 61a of the bearing portion 61 of the separation claw 60 are opposed to each other, but in the illustrated example, as shown in FIG. A plurality of protrusions 67 are formed on 61a. In this example, the projection 67 is integrally formed when the separation claw 60 is formed.
[0050]
As a result, the cumulative number of fixed sheets increases as time elapses as a point contact via the protrusion 67, and gradually increases between the inner surfaces 42a and 43a of the front and rear side portions 42 and 43, which are the opposing contact surfaces, and both side surfaces 61a of the bearing portion 61. Even if foreign matter such as toner or silicone oil adheres to the surface, the opposing contact surfaces do not stick to each other, so that there is no possibility that the normal movement of the separation claw 60 that separates the paper s from the fixing roller 32 is obstructed. The possibility that the separation claw 60 bites into the fixing roller 32 or the like can be eliminated and the fixing roller 32 can be prevented from being damaged.
[0051]
In the illustrated example, a plurality of protrusions 67 are formed on both side surfaces of the bearing 61. However, the protrusions may be formed on the inner surfaces 42a and 43a of the front and rear side portions 42 and 43, which are the other opposing contact surfaces. It may be formed on both the inner surfaces 42 a and 43 a of the front and rear side portions 42 and 43, which are the opposing contact surfaces, and on both side surfaces 61 a of the bearing 61. The protrusion may be formed by integral molding in the case of resin, but may be formed by cutting and raising in the case of metal.
[0052]
Further, in the illustrated example, fixing members 51 and 52 such as washers and rings for restricting the movement of the supporting member 40 on the supporting shaft 50 are provided on the supporting shaft 50, and inner surfaces 51a and 52a of the fixing members 51 and 52 are provided. The outer surfaces 42a and 43a of the front and rear side portions 42 and 43 of the support member 40 are opposed to each other, but as shown in FIG. 6, a plurality of protrusions 67 are formed on the inner surfaces 51a and 52a of the fixing members 51 and 52. Is also good. Even in this case, a similar effect can be achieved.
[0053]
Also in this case, the protrusions may be formed on the outer surfaces 42b, 43b of the front and rear side portions 42, 43 of the support member 40, which is the other opposing contact surface, or the fixing members 51, 52, which are the opposing contact surfaces. It may be formed on both the inner surfaces 51a and 52a and the outer surfaces 42b and 43b of the front and rear side portions 42 and 43 of the support member 40.
[0054]
Further, in the above-described example, the protrusions 67 are formed on the opposing contact surfaces of the support member 40 and the separation claw 60 or on the opposing contact surfaces of the fixing members 51 and 52 and the support member 40. Alternatively, a resin coating with good releasability such as a fluororesin may be applied to both.
[0055]
This makes it difficult for foreign substances such as toner and silicone oil to adhere to the opposing contact surfaces, so that the opposing contact surfaces do not stick to each other even if the cumulative number of fixed sheets increases over time. This eliminates the possibility that the normal movement of the separation claw 60 that separates the sheet s from the roller 32 is prevented, and the risk that the separation claw 60 bites into the fixing roller 32 is eliminated, thereby preventing the fixing roller 32 from being damaged.
[0056]
In the example described above, the fixing rotation member and the pressure rotation member used in the fixing device 30 are both the fixing roller 32 and the pressure roller 33 as rollers, but the fixing rotation member is a silicon belt, a PI (polyimide) film, or the like. An endless belt shape may be used, and the pressure rotating member may also be an endless belt shape.
[0057]
For example, as shown in FIG. 7, a fixing belt (fixing rotating member) 74 is wrapped around a heating body 71 supported by a heater support 70, a driving roller 72, and a driven roller 73, and heating is performed with the fixing belt 74 interposed therebetween. The fixing device 30 that presses the pressure roller 75 against the body 71 can be similarly applied by providing the sheet separating device 36.
[0058]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first aspect of the present invention, since the protrusion is formed on one or both of the opposing contact surfaces of the support member and the separation member, the point contact is performed through the protrusion, and Even if the accumulated fixing number increases with the passage of time and foreign substances such as toner and silicone oil gradually adhere to the opposing contact surfaces of the support member and the separation member, the separation member normally separates the transfer sheet from the fixing rotation member. Without disturbing the movement of the fixing member, it is possible to eliminate the possibility that the separating member bites into the fixing member and prevent the fixing member from being damaged.
[0059]
According to the invention according to claim 2, a fixing member for restricting the movement of the supporting member on the supporting shaft is provided on the supporting shaft, and one or both of the contact surfaces of the fixing member and the supporting member facing each other. As a result, the accumulated number of fixed sheets increases as time elapses, and foreign matters such as toner and silicone oil adhere to the contact surfaces of the fixing member and the supporting member with each other. However, it is possible to prevent the separation member from digging into the fixing rotation member without hindering the normal movement of the separation member that separates the transfer sheet from the fixing rotation member, thereby preventing the fixing rotation member from being damaged.
[0060]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, one or both of the opposing contact surfaces of the support member and the separation member are coated with a resin, so that foreign substances such as toner and silicone oil are hardly attached, and time is reduced. Even if the cumulative number of fixed sheets increases over time, the normal operation of the separation member that separates the transfer sheet from the fixing rotation member is not hindered, and the risk of the separation member digging into the fixing rotation member is eliminated by eliminating the risk of the fixing rotation member. Damage can be prevented.
[0061]
According to the invention according to claim 4, a fixing member is provided on the support shaft for restricting the movement of the support member on the support shaft, and one or both of the contact surfaces of the fixing member and the support member facing each other. Resin coating to prevent foreign matter such as toner and silicone oil from adhering. Even if the cumulative number of fixed sheets increases over time, the normal movement of the separation member that separates the transfer sheet from the fixing rotating member Without any hindrance, it is possible to eliminate the possibility that the separation member bites into the fixing rotating member and to prevent the fixing rotating member from being damaged.
[0062]
According to the invention according to claim 5, since the separation member is provided with a sheet guide surface for guiding the separated transfer sheet when the transfer sheet is separated from the fixing rotating member with the separation member serving as the separation position, a separate guide part is provided. In addition, the transfer sheet separated from the fixing rotating member can be guided.
[0063]
According to the invention according to claim 6, a long hole is formed in the support member, the separation member is urged to the separation position through the support shaft through the long hole, and is movable between the separation position and the separation position along the long hole. Because of the support, the separation member can be freely moved between the separation position and the separation position with a simple configuration.
[0064]
According to the seventh aspect of the present invention, since the fixing device according to any one of the first to sixth aspects is provided, it is possible to provide an image forming apparatus including the fixing device having the above-described effect.
